Wonderful find in The Mission!
While I scanned their extensive menu for take away, I ordered a small plate, the calamari Pakora ($9.75).
The appetizer was on the petit size but perfectly executed. The calamari was very fresh, springy in texture and lightly fried in a shattering chickpea batter.
While I wished for two or three more bites, I'd rather have fewer bites of something excellent than the alternative. Plus it was really good, I wanted to keep eating!
The dipping sauces were beautifully plated; I enjoyed them in single dabs then a mix/match of flavors.
My son and I both had lamb dishes. He had the lamb shank ($15.95) that was so savory but just a little bit chewy. It could've used more braising time but it was still tender.
I had lamb saag ($13.95) and it was delicious. Again, I would've braised the lamb a touch longer. It was still tender but just shy of perfection.
The flavors were deep and savory and while you could taste the individual seasonings, they played in perfect symphony.
And, they had gluten free naan! I choose the garlic and pesto one. We'll scare away vampires for a few nights.
Frankly I didn't expect the gluten free naan to have such a delicious chew- that lovely, slightly stretchy and toothsome bite that gluten imparts. It did!
While the texture was slightly different than its gluten packed cousin, Mission Curry achieved a great texture and flavor in this gluten-free form.
It was a standout menu item.
Mission Curry is a large restaurant so you'll have lots of personal space. It's also immaculately clean, every surface.
Service is kind and attentive.
4.85/5 all around, strong in food, service and atmosphere
