It has now been several years since the big remodel. The park itself is nicer than it used to be, at least when it's empty, but when the weather is vaguely nice, it's still an outright zoo, or at least it used to be before COVID. Things in San Francisco are changing now, so maybe there aren't quite as many tech bros to ruin it with all their garbage (adios, you doddering diddling Twitterbags).
Even though they were in many different parks, the social-distancing circles will always remind me of Dolores Park. Dolores Park, in turn, will always remind me of Pam (who's a new mom now), Genevieve M. (who has long been a mom), and Serena Williams (a medium-term mom who sometimes plays tennis at the public courts all Sting-pop-up style).
I just don't spend as much time here as I used to. It's partly because I haven't worked in the Mission in a decade, but it's also because Pam long ago moved to the East Coast. Did her Dolores Park tattoo ever come to fruition? I'll have to ask her. And you'd think I'd be at nearby (to me) Alamo Square most often, but the Panhandle still has my heart all these years later, and despite my walks there at least three times a week, it hasn't made a dent in my waistline.
So in the pantheon of San Francisco parks, I don't know exactly where Dolores Park currently ranks. Thankfully, I don't really care at the moment.
Don't forget about the J-Church stop near the top with arguably* the finest view from any public-transit stop in the US.
*Why only arguably? Because I found one in San Diego with a better view. Arguably. (Review upcoming, so follow or friend me, fool!)
