Great family resort. We loved the staff, the dining service and food was excellent! The rooms were wonderful, the setting was beautiful and well cared for. Loved the flowers! Used the carriage service several times and so glad it’s available. Great pool and seating area. Loved the lobby seating, too! Thank you for being dog friendly!

I cannot Express my gratitude enough for the wonderful staff at Mission Point! They truly Made us feel like we were royalty! From the moment we walked through that door Tameka would greet us by name with that welcoming smile of hers making sure that each and everyone of our needs were always met. Quickly, calling over the wonderful porters getting them our tags, making sure that my plethora of luggage was handled always getting it to our room… In the evenings, we would come back in after dinner to Shakira always inquiring about how our day went, if she could do anything for us to make our evening perfect. When you come into mission point each and every one of the staff make you feel like you are Family. The rooms are always immaculately clean, The Housekeeping staff is thorough and helpful if you happen to need anything extra. The grounds are wonderfully kept, several places to relax. The restaurants are exceptional. The wonderful staff is what keeps our business several times a year, year after year! if you get a chance to go to the island it’s a must to stay at Mission Point. we have stayed all over the island, hands-down, the staff, the ability they have to run the resort like a well oiled machine makes Mission Point our go to for an absolutely amazing get away.

We are a family of 5. 4 adults, I infant. We reserved two rooms at the main lodge. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Restaurants were really good. Staff was amazing and generous portions served. Great location, the front lawn is a great place to relax. We also saw the Paul McCartney tribute band, really enjoyed the show. Only negative, the main lodge a little difficult to navigate with a stroller. Staff we would like to recognize: Kassandra, Latoya, all the Round kitchen staff and the piano player at Chianti, very kind person. Would recommend staying here, we are looking forward to returning.

Amazing experience! Great help whenever we asked staff, our 50th Anniversary was recognized on the monitors in the lobby, and we arranged to have luscious strawberries dipped in chocolate and roses (lovely!). Excellent breakfasts. Beautiful views from the lawn chairs! Saw many weddings outside 😊 The carriage drivers were friendly, helpful and gave good suggestions for things in town. We had a wonderful trip!! Thank you!!

We always have the greatest time at Mission Point. The front staff, kitchen staff, the baristas, shop keepers. and those who have to deal with all the luggage—fantastic. There was someone new this year, Alex, and he was so knowledgable. My children LOVE the reading time that takes place in the main lobby at 7:30. Such a great way for them to finish the day. We do save the juice for the next day, to prevent too much of a sugar rush right before bed, but it has been a great way to transition and something to look forward to. Mission Point definitely feels more like a resort than it did a few years ago. Not sure if it’s just something we haven’t noticed before or if it came with the new paint and decor. Either way, no complaints. We come back a few times a year and each time has been lovely.

As parents traveling to the island for the first time with two young boys, Mission Point was the perfect place to stay. The staff were incredible and made our kids so happy. Our suite was excellent and we appreciated the separate space for our kids to sleep (they loved it by the way). Location away from the hustle and bustle of downtown was also ideal for ensuring a relaxed and enjoyable getaway. We absolutely would stay again!

Very enjoyable. The hospitality of Mission Point was fantastic. All of the staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable. The Chianti Restaurant and the Round Island Kitchen did not disappoint. The resort catered to the family, children and all. Loved the turtle stools the children could use during story time. Loved the main building structure. Such huge logs, timbers used in the building of this resort. Loved, loved the horse drawn wagons.

The food was sooo good, the bed was very comfy! the staff was so sweet and kind, bless their souls. Shower was nice and warm. Hospitality was fantastic. 100% recommend. I’m definitely coming back. (and they’re pet friendly) Latoya and Judy were so kind!!

Hey Y.

Yelp
Built in the 1950s this is a charming hotel with Mackinac Island vibes. The grounds were beautiful in May with tons of Tullips in bloom. There were about 5 lit fireplaces in the lobby area and places to sit and visit. I mention this because 3 guests set up 'camp' right outside our room and proceeded to drink and talk for hours. Even after we openend our door and told them we could hear their conversation as if they were inside our room, they still stayed for a while before leaving. So, the take away is, the walls are thin. If you want to 'visit' with friends, do it in the lobby area. But the beds were comfortable, the shower had hot water on demand with good water pressure. Room had a mini frig, microwave, clock with electronic charging outlet built in, wall mounted TV and A/C units. Getting luggage to and from the ferry/resort was pretty smooth (except when we called the morning of departure nobody answered at the bell desk so we brought our own luggage down). The Round Island Restaurant menu needs to describe ALL their ingredients as we are Lactose intolerant and one of our entree (fish) selection had a cream sauce all over it that was not mentioned in the description. Staff was friendly at checkin and checkout. Janika was helpful with suggestions and the concierge desk. Basil and the host over at the putting green restaurant were super friendly. Basil even remembered our names and took good care of us for lunch. I'm glad the resort is far enough away from the busy downtown area and far enough so we did not hear the taps and reveille every day at the Fort. Overall it was a good resort. The rooms were on the pricey side and that was before the busy season prices kicked in after Memorial day. But we are glad we stayed here and would recommend it to others.

Yelp
First, a heads up! Room keys open more than one room!! Very embarrassing!!!! Regarding the room. Small, room, no dresser for clothes, just a closet. Bathroom had the tiniest sink I've ever had to use and no room for toiletries. No room for towel bars either. The bed has no full blanket - just a partial one that covers less than half of the bed - my guess is that this prevents people from using the air conditioner on too cold a setting. No extra blanket in the closet either. The room was relatively quiet unless someone was talking in the hall. Not a pretty room by any stretch of the imagination. People at the hotel were friendly, especially in the casual restaurant.

Yelp
We were fortunate to have Catrine take care of us one evening for dinner. Her personality is one in a million, and she left such a lasting impression that we kept returning and specifically requested her each time. She made each meal enjoyable and she was incredibly patient with all our questions. The management was equally spectacular, checking in to ensure we had everything we needed. Mission Point became our go to destination because of the exceptional hospitality and kindness from Catrine, the restaurant management, the front desk staff, and everyone else. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
The room was really nice. It was very modern very updated. The room was very nice and toasty. The beds were very clean and very white. Our room was a long long walk from the lobby. I really like the hotel restaurant. It's really nice and pretty With excellent food. It has lovely views of from the hotel grounds. The pool wasn't open because it was too cold. I would go back there and stay there again. Ps of all the hotels on Mackinac Island mission point is the place that I want to visit again.

Yelp
DO NOT book the "Romance Package." We came here for what we presumed would be a romantic weekend getaway, but our experience has been far from enjoyable. At almost $1,000 per night, we were hoping for a seamless check-in and a polite staff. We were horribly mistaken: "Umutai" at the front desk was cold, incompetent, and downright rude. First, the check-in process took nearly 20 minutes--we figured we would have a king-sized bed, not two doubles, with the romance package. That would make sense, right? Umutai informed us that they only had the double available for two nights, but we could upgrade to a junior suite for one night for an extra $150. Awesome, right? We accepted, but then Umutai told us for the "Romance Package," it would actually be an extra $600. As shown in the photo, the "Romance Package" is literally a couple crackers, some cheese, and a $2.99 bottle of white wine (we asked for red). We couldn't be more disappointed in our experience. I'm currently looking up other hotels in the area or maybe a bed and breakfast for tomorrow night, because this is a joke.

Yelp
Woof. What an AWFUL time we had at Mission Point Resort this year. My family and I visit the island once a year. We've stayed at many places across the island but have stayed at Mission Point the last three years. This year was absolutely horrible. We stayed in the "newer" Straights lodge. We started off our vacation with a broken sofa in our room. We didn't complain because we figured it's a small issue. So we spent all of our time in the bedroom. Throughout the vacation, the food at every spot was awful. From soggy sandwiches, old baked goods, and old restaurant food-we didn't have a good meal at Mission Point the entire stay. I can deal with bad food and a broken sofa. But the noise from the neighbors-that was the final straw. We had a family above us and we could hear all of their movements. I didn't sleep well the entire time we stayed. There is no peace and quiet here based on the room you are given. I can hear their conversations, their jumping - basically everything. We paid extra for a hot tub suite with a separate living space (with the broken sofa) and a bedroom. I'm horribly disappointed in my experience here. I'm looking forward to taking a multi-year break from vacationing in the island. The island is nice-I just wish there was anywhere quality to stay. It's like the hotels/bnbs here know that they don't have to try. It's really too bad. If you take nothing else from my review, please take this: don't eat the food at mission point, including the restaurant. - I read other reviews and wanted to mention this as well: this hotel uses real, metal keys. I would never stay here as a woman without my family. They clearly are unconcerned with how unsafe that is. There are also no doors on the closets-just curtains. Seems like I paid enough to have a not-broken sofas, a secure key, and maybe even some doors. Again, WOOF. I relate the Mission Point Resort to a Days Inn.

Yelp
We loved loved loved our stay at Mission Point Resort! This was our first time on Mackinac Island, and I think part of the reason why we had such a great trip was because we stayed at Mission Point. First, I loved that the hotel is located so far away from the downtown area of the island. It takes a bit to get to the hotel from the ferry dock if you're walking (but you could also opt to take a carriage ride and get there faster). But because it's away from the busy downtown area, we felt like we had more privacy and saw fewer people milling about. Second, there's a resident dog at Mission Point Resort! Nick the Dog is the resort's unofficial mascot. This good boy greets people and sits for head pats at the lobby of the hotel. The hotel is also very close to the beachy, rocky part of the island, so we were able to hop on bikes and quickly ride to a spot where we could play by the water. Mission Point also has the iconic white Adirondack chairs sitting out on the lawn, where you can relax and enjoy the island view. My kids also really liked that there is a mini golf course on the property. It's just steps away from a restaurant that's also a part of Mission Point. One afternoon, we played a round of miniature golf and then got takeout sandwiches at the restaurant, and ate on the big hill outside of the hotel. It was such a chill way to spend a couple of hours. The hotel rooms at Mission Point are nice, and they were very clean when we visited. The beds were comfy, too. In the halls, there are little reading nooks with big chairs and bookshelves of books for your reading pleasure. This resort is unusual in that they have an actual theatre on the property. On certain days, they'll have movie showings. We weren't around to catch a film, but we did walk around and check out the movie theatre. I will definitely come back to Mission Point Resort the next time we're on Mackinac Island!

Yelp
We generally enjoyed our stay but the walls (and floors) are paper thin so you could hear conversations in the rooms next door and people walking around in the rooms above us. In addition, the concierge was not all that friendly or accommodating when we asked about making some restaurant or taxi reservations so we ended up doing most of that ourselves. Finally, there is no in room controls for the heat so the room was often very warm and we ended up opening the windows a crack to moderate the temperature.

Yelp
Been coming to the island for over 40 years and decided to give MP a try in 2021. Stayed in the Straits Lodge and enjoyed the visit. However, brought family members in September 2023 and was very disappointed with rooms and overall condition of the Main Lodge. All staff was great, but the resort looks in every way like the 70-year-old building that it is, and not what is being advertised. Really needs attention...will not be staying again.

Kathleen P.

Yelp
It was our second stay at Mission Point and once again it did not disappoint! The staff are wonderful, rooms clean and super comfy and food scrumptious. We came with the whole family and had 2 suites in the Straits right next to each other and adjacent to a wonderful sitting area that we used to gather (like a private living room!). While the bathroom in the suite was tiny, we made do! I liked the suites but love the ambience of the rooms in the main lodge. Probably will stay there next time!

Eric K.

Yelp
Horrible experience, air conditioner broke in the middle of the night room must've been 90° and one of the beds had yellow stains all over the sheets when we arrived I was informed that they were sorry for our inconvenience upon reporting the incidents to the management...

Chris G.

Yelp
We had never been to Mackinac Island, let alone Mission Point. We both felt we were dismissed by employees when we asked questions. It felt as if they were giving us secrets to tell us things. It was odd and almost rude, as if they were saying, if you had been here before you would know. The rooms are small! There is a "queen" size bed in the room, a desk with wooden chair, a small nightstand, and a cabinet that held the refrigerator. And in the corner is the air conditioner. There is a ceiling fan, but no ceiling light. The windows are covered with wide slate blinds, but they do not cover the windows entirely. The room will get bright when the sun is up. While I knew the room would be small, I didn't realize that the bathroom would be tiny. For some reason, the toilet is situated facing the sink and right there. So basically, you can sit on the toilet and brush your teeth while on the toilet. My legs were under the sink and I am 5'2". Husband is 6'1" and he was way under. Overall it was nice, but it was less sound proof than we would have liked. We could hear our neighbors and anytime someone was in the hallway. And the room key was an actual key and you have to lock the door with key to close the door. It was an average place to stay and I would have gladly given it 3 stars, but we decided to book the breakfast stay. This included $25 per adult for breakfast at the Round Island Kitchen. We were told that we must make reservations. (Even though it said recommended and neither day was crowded.) Because of our issues with breakfast, it tainted our whole stay, and therefore, 1 star. My husband and I are vegetarians. I didn't give this a second thought when I made the reservation with breakfast included, because we are not vegans, so we can usually find something to eat. HOWEVER, we had to pay extra to get fruit or eggs instead of meat and we could not even order a la cart. The employees were RUDE about it. The first day at breakfast, the waitress brought out cinnamon rolls and said they came with breakfast. As my husband ordered the french toast (without meat) and I ordered the pancakes (without meat), but we ordered eggs and fruit additionally, so we only tried bites of the cinnamon rolls. When we asked the second day, the waitress said no. Just no. The second day, I ordered eggs and toast, but was brought the All American without meat, which are served with confit potatoes. The waitress didn't know how they were made, so I didn't want to eat them without confirming. My husband's also came with them, so they were left uneaten on our plates. They are usually made with DUCK FAT, which is something vegetarians don't want to eat. So instead of a reasonably priced breakfast that was included, we had to pay more each day. We were so put off by the first day breakfast interaction, we stayed away for the rest of the day. There was no way that we would be trying any of the other restaurants at the resort. **This is the review my wife posted on TripAdvisor and LexieS from Mission Point responded "Hi, thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review about your stay. We certainly apologize for the negative experience you had overall at Mission Point. We do our best to be transparent about the size of our rooms online and do have larger suite options ranging up to 1,200 square feet should that be of interest in a future visit. We will bring up the issues you've stated about Round Island Kitchen with our team as quality, consistency, and proper training is important to us. It would be great to have you back to Mission Point in the future for a different experience." My wife mentioned that we expected the small room, but not the crowded bathroom. Yet, Lexie chose to only address what she wanted - small room (not bathroom) and restaurant staff (not rude resort employees, which is why I posted it here.

Yelp
The was our first time staying at MP or on the Island. What really sold us on making thr reservations were the chairs on the lawn and how relaxing that looked. My wife spoke with MP beforehand to see how to arrange transportation to the resort and was told the MP taxi would pick us up and we didn't have to do anything. However when we got off the ferry we didn't see a MP taxi so she called again and they told her that the shuttle would be there in like 1.5 hrs. So in a frenzy trying to find a way to get ourselves and some luggage to the resort we tried getting a normal taxi and was told we had to call dispatch. Finally after waiting around for awhile we were able to get the MP taxi. That was the one and only time we took it. It was frustrating because we were trying to plan ahead and were told 2 different things at different times. The resort itself was well maintained, clean and staff was friendly.

Jeppy L.

Yelp
I think a solid 3 is a fair score here. You don't come to the island to stay in the hotel room. On a positive note, the beds were comfortable and the room was fairly clean. We used Shepler's Ferry to travel from Mackinac City. The staff of the ferry company and MP did a great job coordinating luggage to and from. Delivered it right to the room and picked up from room when checking out. We went straight to the ferry and luggage followed along. No delays or waiting on luggage. There are some restaurants on the property where kids eat free too. All staff members were kind and friendly throughout. There is also a spa on the property. My wife got a massage and said it was the highlight of the trip. Highly recommend signing up for one online. Easy to book. And frankly, for a massage, reasonably priced. On a negative note, the building is old (obviously). Outdated and dirty in spots. Our drain in the shower clogged twice - but MP did assist quickly and fixed it both times. The pool on the property is very small. About the size of a pool in someone's yard. The outdoor furniture is old and stained too. We only hung out by the pool for about an hour the entire time. When arriving keep in mind that carriages marked MP are not free for a lift to hotel. A family of 4 was $18 for about a half mile ride (not Including tip). Cash only. The walk is not that bad if you don't have big luggage. The lawn area was a nice place to enjoy the sun and watch boats. I liked that Straits Lodge wing of the hotel had coffee, espresso, and breakfast/lunch food too.

Jacqueline S.

Yelp
So much to do here, we came in early June during Lilac Festival, our stay at the hotel was great but King Suite is not suitable 5 adults - as stated- we enjoyed the 2 rooms with our group by adding a roll-away that we pushed into the closet. A bit of a rough start; it was the beginning of the season. Pro: beautiful streets are easy to tour at season start; Con: cool-cold temperatures and not all the gorgeous plantings are complete Why 5 stars rating? The staff is so good and attentive- really helpful and interesting-from all over the world. We had several meals and rented bikes here too.a great experience and restful.

Beth H.

Yelp
It was really gross. The rooms smelled awful. Very out dated. Would not recommend to anyone.

Lynn B.

Yelp
I was super hopeful when new owners came in, but everything is as horrible as before and in many points worse.

Billy L.

Yelp
We stayed at the Mission Point Resort after buying a Groupon with a friend. The summer dates were all taken so we decided to get an early jump on the season. I'm so glad we did because even though it was cool outside, it was a very quiet and peaceful visit. This was literally their opening weekend and many of the employees were on the job for the first time, some had never even been in the country before!! So we had to be a bit patient and tolerant, but they tried their best to accommodate all of our needs. We got a room in the main lodge even though the Groupon said we would be in the Straits Lodge. I'm not sure if the Straits lodge was open yet. The room was a bit warm and you can't control the temperature, so we had to open the window and turn on the ceiling fan to cool it down. The beds were very comfortable and each came with four pillows. I've read other reviews about the rooms being small, but it seemed fine to me. The bathroom was large and the water was hot in the sink and tub - so what the hey!!!! The WiFi worked surprisingly great. We were able to rent bicycles right at the hotel and for 2 adult bikes with 7 speeds for 3-1/2 hours it cost us $52. They added a basket on the front that I was able to put my purse in. We got the breakfast buffet for $15.95 one of the days. It had an omelette bar where they made them exactly how you wanted them. I love omelettes so that did it for me. For a small fee of $5.50 you can get a horse taxi to the ferry, and they take care of the luggage for about $12.00. It was very convenient and since I was in the mood to be pampered I didn't think the fee bother me. Everything about this island is unique and nostalgic. I loved my weekend and would definitely do it again.

Yelp
Situated on the far end of downtown, the Mission Point Resort has beautiful grounds, a beautiful lawn with available seating, miniature golf, a small boutique area, bike rental, a cafe, and two restaurants. As far as Mackinac Island is concerned, you have many choices without having to leave and go downtown. Listen, don't come to Mackinac expecting luxury lodging. While the island is charming and offers a beautiful state park, every hotel on the island is a bed and breakfast style type of lodging- charming. Mission Point is a large bed and breakfast. Yes, Mission Point is outdated, but the space provided within your room is more than plenty for what one needs during a short vacation. During the Covid-19 season, you had the option to have your room cleaned (garbage taken out, bathroom cleaned), but no linen/bedroom cleaning was not available. The service is what makes the Mission Point a great option for lodging. Between the friendly service from check-in until checkout and the fact that Shepler's takes your luggage to and from the ferry, it's a no brainer for staying on the Island.

Eddie U.

Yelp
We hiked around the Island for about 5 miles and it was an amazing day. We worked out and got thirsty and hungry. We decided to stop by you and sat at in your upper balcony looking out a sight worth a million bucks. Your costumer service was friendly and helpful from the moment we stepped in. It's nice to be recognized and treated kindly in the time of Covid 19. We had tapas and beer that you apparently brewed. Thanks for welcoming us to your gorgeous Island.

Whitnee D.

Yelp
I stayed here years ago and decided to stay here again. While the customer service is pretty good the rooms and windows could definitely use some updates. In addition the hotel is a bit away from the shops and restaurants west of the island which would be okay IF you were waking up to spectacular views of the water - not the case. Next time I will def stay in one of the boutique hotels off or near Main Street. Coolest part of the hotel were the white lawn chairs off the water but you can still access them if you aren't a hotel guest so no incentive to stay at Mission Point. Lastly kudos to their manager Adam from FL - He and his team ROCK! As fore-mentioned great customer service.

Jennifer V.

Yelp
So glad we stayed here. Customer service from check-in to check-out was fantastic. And we really utilized the entire resort (pool, spa, bike rental, glow golf, restaurants, snack areas) and felt well taken care of at every turn. We came during a very busy week in July, so staying a little off the beaten path of the main drag was a very welcome bonus for us. Just make sure to have a bike handy. The bike rental at MP was not only super convenient but also cheaper than other spots in the island. We had a small suite that was comprised of two bedrooms and it was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. This was my first time staying at Mission Point but I will happily stay here again in the future. Outstanding customer service and a really a terrific experience every step of the way.

Randy C.

Yelp
I read several reviews and I must say I'm shocked, the experience was exceptional...and I call it an experience because it was more than a stay at a hotel...it was an event, from the room that was plenty big and up to date, to the staff that was attentive and caring! Every part of the stay was a pleasant experience...the grounds were a walk in time and trip to a simpler place in history, but a good comfortable trip not a "dated" trip...maybe I'm just nostalgic and believe in a place where people should interact with their neighbors, and I felt this sense of community during my stay! Thanks to the staff and the behind the scenes folks that make Mission Point a place of legend...we'll definitely be back...

Rob M.

Yelp
Expansive is the metaphor that springs to mind when I stayed at Mission Point Resort. The place is literally huge and offers everything you could want from your stay on Mackinac Island. Huge deck with fantastic views.....check. Large, family friendly room....check. Convenient location to the downtown area....got it. Cool old school bar and restaurant (their signature Bloody Mary is the bomb and anything with Whitefish is perfect and their pastas are awesome). Mission point conveniently offers high quality bike rentals on site. They even fixed my friends bike that she brought to the island for free. I will definitely be back and will recommend Mission Point to anyone heading to beautiful Mackinac Island.

Hillary R.

Yelp
MP was the perfect spot for our Mackinac vacation. Rooms are small but staff is great. Off sheplers ferry they handle your luggage which is wonderful to not deal with it. The grounds are beautiful and clean. On site dining option with kids eating free as a perk of staying there. Daily housekeeping. Will be back!

L A.

Yelp
We spent a couple days here. While the stay was nice, there was room for improvement. - The "garden" room had a view of some mud with a few plants in it. - When unfolding a cloth napkin in the restaurant we found 3 dead mosquitoes - The bathroom was so small that you couldn't sit comfortably on the toilet without hitting the wall or the sink The staff was very friendly and professional, so that made the stay worth while.

Mel C.

Yelp
A truly memorable and relaxing stay at Mission Point Resort, for my bday weekend. We just returned home and I miss our room already. We had a pet friendly suite in the Straits Lodge and enjoyed the private HOT TUB on the deck every night of our stay. Except for hearing a few voices next door and footsteps above us, this place was pretty quiet and warm and we slept well each night. Our only complaints were the small bathroom, the air conditioner doesnt really cool the room on its own, uncomfortable sofa sleeper mattress and the pricey on-site dining. The front desk and restaurant staff are very friendly and warm people and quick to help answer any questions or requests. We paid a pet fee and extra fee for a small fridge during our stay but it was money well spent in order too keep some cold drinks, food or leftovers in our room. You could walk to town in less than minutes or hike higher upwards in a loop to see many beautiful houses and iconic places like Fort Mackinac, Sugar Loaf Rock and Arched Rock. Our dogs enjoyed swimming off Mission Point and strolling down the path there in the moonlight was amazing. We didn't get to play mini golf but it sure looked fun. We appreciate several pet friendly dining options in one place at Mission Point resort. Also, they make getting your luggage to the ferry very easy. LOVED CHIANTI and the incredible views, food, service and entertainment. Thank you to our wonderful server and the talented staff at the piano and who sang "Happy Birthday" to me. Will tell all my friends and family how wonderful this place is.

Yelp
So this place is very nice but it's very expensive. We were invited to stay here for a wedding last weekend, the staff was very friendly and the grounds were maintained beautifully. The restaurant in the main hotel building is very good and they have great happy hour deals. Overall I would say this place is better than just ok but the price to stay was pretty crazy, $400 a night should be luxurious and this hotel was not that. I would definitely go back but maybe on someone else's dime :)

Yelp
We referred to this resort .. as the baby Grand. It was great location on the water .. close to town and to rock arch. Nicely appointed and landscapped and about half the price of the Grand hotel. It not as big or as regal as the Grandbut it's in the ball park for much better price.

Yelp
My husband's family has been coming to the island for many years now. Usually we stay at the Windermere, but this time I wanted to try something new. First major difference for us is the distance and inconvenience of having to transport luggage. We had the hotel transport luggage from the ferry to the hotel. After checking in (which was very friendly and a great start to our visit), we took our luggage tags to the bell staff. We were told our luggage would be up very soon. 30 minutes later, we are in the room waiting on luggage. I called the bell staff and was assured it would be 5 minutes. We did not receive our luggage for another 30 minutes. We needed our luggage so that we could change for dinner. This interaction made us nervous to put our luggage back in their hands for departure. We ended up carrying it ourselves as opposed to having to wait an hour or so for it to show up on the mainland. Our room was a small suite with a back porch that had a small patio table and hot tub. We were excited for the hot tub but when we saw that it had a creepy hut covering and looked inside, it did not look very clean. So we ended up paying extra for something we didn't use. The room itself was nice. Only the bedroom had AC though. And the entire room only had one small trash can. The bathroom set up is a bit odd. Just the toilet and shower in a bathroom and then two random sinks throughout the rest of the room. Also our shower would not drain. The entire hotel looks nice upon first glance but if you look closer, you can see the cracks. Things look like they've been updated but potentially the cheapest, quickest way possible. I will say that it is very quiet and peaceful because it isn't close to the docks. After reading reviews of the hotel restaurants, we decided to skip eating there because they all complained of the slow service. I think this could be a really great place to stay but for our very mediocre room at two nights it was $1000. I'm sorry but so not worth it. Better to stay somewhere closer to the docks.

Yelp
Overall, a disappointing experience. You have to try to be fair in evaluating a place like this that's been around for so many years. It is understandable that a building of this age would have some deterioration and would lack some basic comforts. However, it is equally important to bear in mind the premium price they're charging for people to stay here. For almost $700 a night I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a few things. Things like a shower drain that actually drains, or food that is exceptional, or an air-conditioned lobby. We attempted to utilize the bike rental station. There was only a single attendant and as a result it took a half hour for us to be able to leave with our bikes. In addition the flyer we were given told us that we would get a discount, when we got to the bike rental station no discount was offered. We had similar trouble when we attempted to partake in the glow golf. Only a single attendant on duty, and he was moving slowly. The glow golf itself was very disappointing. The balls kept losing their glow, and there was no supplementary lighting to show you the way around the course. There were no bikes for people to borrow, no complementary shuttle to and from the docks, absolutely everything came with an extra charge. About the only positive of our stay was the staff, most of them were very friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately with so many negatives I can't recommend staying here. I wouldn't stay here again for half of what we paid.

Yelp
heard all the talk about this being a good place to be, just that talk. Room we have is2 rooms, one for me and Spouse, other for our kids. it is an old college turned into a resort and it looks it. uncovered pipe running through both bedrooms for what we think is the sprinkler system, paint over existing walls and trim, ceiling fan in one room unbalanced and making noise and when we tried to call the front desk, the phone did not work. still waiting an hour later after calling and writing this review. I don't know what place others have stayed at and given this place a good review but it was not our room. only reason I did not give 0 stars is I don't know how.

Yelp
The resort is ok. Older property and the rooms are average at best. We struggled with the air conditioning in our room and took two uncomfortable nights to fix it. We also traveled with an elderly family member and had told reservations about mobility issues. While they accommodated her in one way (a room near an elevator) the room was not handicapped accessible and impacted her quality of stay. The restaurants were good but not great and staff was light. Overall the staff was lovely and tried their best. They were the highlight. Overall, I wouldn't recommend for anyone with physical challenges and would choose a different hotel next time on the island. Not worth the money.

Yelp
I used a Groupon to stay at Mission Point Resort. The hotel is very dated and in need of a decor update. That said, the rooms are small but clean. There's a huge floor model AC which is super loud. Eat breakfast at the coffee shop and save or walk into downtown. The shuttle from the docks only runs once an hour. No one except the waitstaff made me feel like they were glad I was here.

Yelp
Very good service and a great location to stay on the island! We had a view overlooking the estate and towards the water. It was absolutely beautiful waking up to the sounds of waves.

Yelp
We came here for my Birthday in late July... so HIGH season. From the photos on-line, it looks very nice. Air conditioning is very SPOTTY if working. The rooms have those Stand alone AC units with a plastic tube going outside. They do not work well. If you have seen the show "White Lotus" this is the Michigan version... when you mention something is not right.. they look at you like this is the first time hearing such a thing, apologize and promise to have it looked at by Maintenance. The place is shabby and run down. Sitting on the large balcony overlooking the water.. the bannisters are rotting wood with some paint slopped over the rot... some places just show big hunks of missing wood. Worn carpets, tattered furniture, etc. We never did get the AC fixed right and ended up putting our own small cooler with ice in front of the unit to blow cold air across us at night... it eventually got down to about 72 Degrees in the room... not good sleeping temps for us. Restaurant staff was surly and it took forever for food to arrive. Cocktails orders before we ordered the meal arrived at the same time as the food. Again, mention this to management or the front desk and it was if you told them something they had never heard. Yes, there are horse everywhere on the island and that is good, but when you leave at 10AM and there is horse poop in the main entry area...and that same poop is there 5 hours later... that is not right. Horse poop and the July Sun do not make a good combination. Dont be led astray by the photos on the site...

Yelp
This is a very, very nice resort. The staff will bend over backwards to make you comfortable. Kids eat free in the restaurants on premise. The resort is on the water, has a huge lawn, has many activities like bocce ball, has a heated swimming pool and jacuzzi tubs, etc. etc. etc. One anecdote that will tell you much about this resort. One piece of our luggage was lost by the staff. They searched everywhere for it and found it a few hours later - no harm, no foul. The manager offered us a free dinner at any restaurant in the resort. We went to Chianti, had a $200+ meal, and had a great time. We are customers for life.

Yelp
To say that I was disappointed with my stay at Mission Point would be an understatement. I came out on a colder weekend and they only had one working heat lamp outside on the porch area. And when it started pouring rain they didn't even light the 3 fireplaces located in the lobby. We went for breakfast at the hotel restaurant which was a mistake. Not only did we have to wait over an hour for our food which was cold upon its arrival, but I ordered French Toast that turned out to be just plain bread. The worst part of my stay was returning to my room after housekeeping entered to clean and finding my room door wide open with no one inside. I would definitely recommend staying elsewhere to anyone looking to book a room.

Yelp
This was my first visit to Mackinaw Island. My Mom and I were traveling together and after some minimal research we decided to do Mission Point because they offered a Lilac Package. The property is beautiful. The main lobby is very warm and inviting and lodge like. Fireplaces throughout with comfortable seating to just enjoy a cup of coffee. Our package included a lilac scented lotion and cute bag and a lilac tour on the property. Our guide was the property garden manager, Matt. He was awesome!!!!! He was new to the island but his knowledge of plants and flowers was incredible. The tour was around 90 minutes, but we enjoyed getting history of the property, plant/flower information, and some info on the local area. The package also included 1/2 bike rentals, breakfast in the lodge restaurant, and a quick grab lunch in the cafe. I highly recommend any packages because it also includes the ferry service. The only negatives I could say was some of the staff was very new and unsure of some of the information we needed. I also recommend anyone bring cash to the island. Very carriage ride to and from Main Street (the major hub) is $6 each time per person. I wish the rides to and from the hotel would have been included, but overall and excellent visit!!!!

Yelp
Quite a disappointment... we were upgraded to the Presidential Suite which would seem luxurious... anything but. Outdated, the roof top access is just a small dirty porch with 2 chairs... and of course right below us is the party room so wedding music and celebrations till midnight! Chianti's food was disappointing for the prices paid and service was mediocre at best.

Yelp
Treat cautiously here if you think that "high rate" you are paying for your hotel room will equate to "high service." It does not. We stayed in the main hotel building and our room was woefully out of date. The sinks and drains hardly worked, the cramped closets and walking aisles between beds left something to be desired as well. Of course, when on the island, most people dont spend a lot of time in their rooms. However, the disappointment continued in the food and beverage. Drinks were woefully slow to be delivered, and weak on alcohol content. Food was notably weak, with dishes often uneatable. While "kids eat free" is a great concept, even our kids were burned out on the 5 total selections by the second day. For the price, this property simply does not deliver, despite its spectacular setting and location. I will give kudos to the mini golf and the Greens restaurant next to the golf. Glow golf, at night, was a real treat with the kids. Perhaps look for a better value for your dollar elsewhere on the island.

Yelp
I've gone here every time I've been at the island. It is amazing with so much to do. The restaurant's have good staff and is right next to golf and a big lawn. The only downside is that it is a little bit away from downtown, but that can also be good as it is away from the crowd.

Yelp
It's a nice place with great views. I was disappointed because I was out of my room from 9:00 to 3:00 and it hadn't been serviced when I returned. The housekeeper told me I was scheduled to check out that day. Ummm--no. It's a big inconvenience.

Yelp
We came here a year ago on our honeymoon and this year was our year anniversary and I must say I have never had bad service here. The staff is always friendly and helpful and the rooms are always clean! I plan to use mission point every time I come up here!!!

Yelp
We enjoyed resort very much, especially after being given an upgrade to the Presidential suite! Very nice service, clean and beautiful!

Yelp
The hotel: decor is from 1980. Rooms are small. No hot water. The outside & grounds are the best part of this place. NOT HANDICAPPED ACCESSABLE. The staff: meh. Shuttles: $5.00 per person each way every time you use them. If you are with a handicapped person this adds up quickly. This should be free for overnight hotel guests. Would I stay here again? No.

Yelp
Mission Point Resort has lovely grounds and common areas. Hard to beat the view below. But our room was a little worse for wear. Tiles broken in the bathroom, a bathroom where you had to turn your legs to sit on the toilet because the sink would be in your way, no dresser in the bedroom (not enough room for one and it was only a queen sized bed) no mini fridge. The bottles of water in the room were $5.00 each, just a bit steep. And all this for the low price of $271. I understand that it is because it's so expensive to ship everything over by ferry, and I'm still glad we stayed there. The pool was quite refreshing after all my hiking and greeting the morning in the Adirondack chairs was lovely.

Yelp
Warning Will Robinson Warning!!! If you stay in the Straits King Room beware it is so small you require a traffic guard to help you traverse the room. Why do you sell a romantic getaway and put a single chair in the room? Guess your partner sits on the potty. The hallway carpets worn and the elevator carpet is revolting and rancid. Grounds look nice but a lot of empty pots. I'm really disappointed in that we traveled from CA for a nice romantic getaway and we can honestly say we made a mistake. Hopefully the property amenities can make up for it but first impressions are difficult to overcome. Oh it gets better. Turned on the fan to cool the room down some tonight and it truly sounds like a train coming the the walls. Not a train maybe but certainly like an ice maker when it drops ice. This is really sad. I thought maybe I was over reacting but not a chance. Poor poor product and no excuse for this kind of quality at these prices. Also be aware there is no NO safe in the room. Buffet breakfast is mediocre but saving grace is fresh omelette station. The island itself a treat and definitely worth the visit. Mission Pointe front lawn area is impressive. Great location. There are some nice points to The Pointe but be aware of the rooms. At least the Straits Lodge. Make sure you call and get a true understanding of what you are purchasing.

Yelp
We stayed at Mission Point during my first visit to the island. This hotel is very historic and charming in its own way. The staff were very friendly and having multiple dining options on the property is very convenient. It is close enough distance to the downtown area that you can walk or take a carriage ride. It was also a convenient walk to the Arch Rock. My only suggestion for improvement would be the overall temperature of the hotel. The main areas were not cool and all sores and windows were opened. Our room had a portable AC unit which kept the room cool.

Yelp
I really enjoyed staying at this resort while visiting Mackinac Island! The rooms and bathrooms were clean and the staff was friendly and attentive! The price per night is expensive (we paid $319 per night after taxes and fees for two full beds) but it was worth it. Something different about the resort is the room keys are over sized, real brass keys! So don't lose them! Once you're checked in, they have staff who take your bags to your rooms for you. The resort is spread out, so some rooms are closer than others to the main hotel area. There is a Mission Point Shuttle (horse and carriage) that departs every 30 minutes from the hotel to take you downtown and to the ferry docks. My only con about this service is that it's $5 per person. For the amount guests pay to stay at the resort, I think this amenity should be included in the price and the driver receives tip. Most of the time, we opted to walk from the resort to the downtown area (about a half mile). The resort has a few places to eat (a bar/restaurant with more casual dining and an Italian restaurant). We ate at the Round Island Bar for lunch on Saturday. In addition, my family was there to celebrate a birthday. The Mission Point Staff helped us put on a "Taste of Mackinac" buffet. I'm not one to eat at buffets, but this meal was amazing! It included white fish dip, summer corn salad, mixed greens salad and strawberry dressing, asparagus, butternut squash bisque, perogies, crusted chicken breast and beef tenderloin. The dessert spread was amazing as well. Oh, and we had an open bar and bartender who made us fantastic drinks! If your looking to organize an event, Mission Point has the resources to help you out! Thanks again, Mission Point, for the awesome experience!!
