Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor and Interpretive Center

We went as a school field trip and had a blast! We took a mile long hike with multiple stops with our guide who was very knowledgeable and had the kids raising their hands to ask more questions. He said there is a total of 60 miles of land to hike! Beautiful center with cute little trinkets i only wish I took more pictures 📸 . Me and my family will be back on our own time! Free parking lot, free educational movies in their enormous theater where we learned about the Kummeya tribe. (sorry if I misspelled that) so interesting! The theater is not always open so please check before you go if that's something you are interested in. Many interesting plants, 2 areas where poison oak is located and signs are present in both areas warning about the "leaves of three- let them be!". They have a "kitchen plant" area i forgot what they called it but it had the word kitchen in it and its an area where all the plants are "edible", and you learn about them. Wonderful time, we were tired though our hike was lots of rocky uphill terrain and it's glory!

I love to hike around here the visitor center is cute with a little shop and museum. The ladies in there are nice friendly and informative. Nice easy trail to the dam. Still open to a certain point right now due to construction

There aren't enough words that can sum up my love for this place. From infinite trails and peaks, to wildlife and vegetation of all kinds. Great place to visit for a nice short hike and also for more challenging and worthwhile views type of hikes. I even began volunteering here because I love being at MTRP. This place will forever hold a place in my heart. Shout out to the folks at the Visitor Center and all the Rangers that work there. Thank you!

I love love love this place. My kids and I visit almost on a weekly basis until the weather gets too hot. Highly recommend for hikers of all skill levels! Bring lots of water and put on some sunscreen.

Love this place it's the perfect nature getaway hidden in the city. The Visitor's Center loop is a nice 3km walk, low intensity good for families and pets. Some people like to ride bikes or run it. It goes by some water areas. The Visitor's center has drinking water and restrooms outside. There is parking just look at signs to see when the parking lots close. If you are going after hours there is street parking. The museum has many preserved species and a nice view of the park. Definitely a great hiking place for individuals or groups.

Mission Gorge Trail is a fantastic hike with breathtaking views of San Diego. The trail is well-maintained, and the climb to the top is challenging but rewarding. There are also many offbeat trails branching off the main paved road, which are great for bikers. Plus, there’s plenty of parking available, making it convenient for visitors. This was my first time here with my dog while visiting my daughters from Sacramento, and we had a great time exploring. Don’t forget to bring water and wear sturdy shoes. Highly recommend this spot for outdoor enthusiasts!

Nice loop trail for kids. Easy, some trees, cactus, plenty of parking. Longer trails if want to go further

Excellent visitor center with informative staff and displays. Older gentleman was especially helpful recommending me with many different ways of reaching each peak of the mountain. Mission trails are magnificent regional park beloved by the community of San Diego with many hiking & mountain bike trails. Definitely visit here and learn about the history of this beautiful park and what it has to offer.
