"Mister Paradise feels a bit like an anomaly. The cocktails here are super ambitious and filled with atypical ingredients (salted watermelon, charred corn milk), but we get the feeling that if you ordered a glass of rosé with a few ice cubes here, the bartenders wouldn't immediately ask you to leave. This place is more fun and laid-back than it is pretentious, and the space features soft lighting and big pleated booths. "If you’re open to the possibility of staying out until 12am, go to Mister Paradise. On the earlier side, this East Village bar is a casual place to get some great cocktails—like a martini with bay leaf and pickled jicama—but later in the night, it becomes crowded with people who get their morning coffee from Aimé Leon Dore. "At Mister Paradise, you can sit on a leather ottoman and drink a cocktail made with tequila, watermelon, fermented habanero, and garlic (among other things). And unlike the mysterious combinations of things you’ve thrown in a shaker and called a cocktail this year, the drinks here actually taste great.
