How Hotels are Becoming More LGBTQ+ Friendly - AFAR

"Founded after its founder experienced discrimination while checking into a small island retreat, this booking platform helps LGBTQ+ travelers locate apartments and hotel rooms at more accepting properties. It evaluates properties using signals such as investment in local LGBTQ+ media, NGO engagement and visible cues like rainbow flags, and will soon introduce a community-driven certification: guests who book through the service will receive a seven-question post-stay survey (covering comfort with staff and other guests, ease of inviting someone to a room, etc.), whose weighted responses an algorithm will use to declare whether a property is LGBTQ+ friendly. The company will relaunch a social travel network so members can see others’ bookings and connect, and it plans to share raw results with hotels so they can address specific shortcomings." - Mark Ellwood

I was in Spain a year ago. The apartment in Barcelona was great. 24 hours before I was due in Madrid, I received a call saying that the apartment I booked there was no longer available. Mister b&b customer service booked us into an apartment that was filthy. We left and, fortunately, we’re able to book a room in a hotel at a much higher price. My experience with this company was so horrible that I will no longer use them or Air B&B or any other comparable service.

Worst experience as a traveller, horrible customer service and I would highly recommend staying away from this platform, use airbnb instead which has a much better customer service and really help the travellers.
