Miyawaki

"The menu by Chef Masaya Miyawaki has a drinking snacks vibe. Miyawaki enjoys a drink himself, so meals begin with fried items that complement drinks like beer and champagne. Karasumi (salted and dried grey mullet roe) Soba is salty and flavoursome. Regional sake, wasanbon (a kind of refined sugar) and olive-fed wagyu beef are sourced from Kagawa Prefecture from the chef’s desire to support his native region. Miyawaki recommends dessert-wine pairings with bracken-starch dumplings, tracing the evolution of Japanese cuisine." - Michelin Inspector

The Best Antique Stores and Flea Markets, According to the Pros

"Why it's great: This beautiful jewel of a shop makes fans for the Imperial family, geisha, sumo wrestlers, and celebrities, each hand-painted with delicate seasonal designs. They've been making fans for generations; walking through the store is like visiting a museum of fans. What to look for: Make sure to see the room upstairs dedicated to sousenkyo, a fan game from the Edo period that is much harder than it looks!"

Really amazing fan shop. Happened in here b chance on the way to Nishiki market. I came back in the following day to dive deeper and buy some fans as gifts. So many options to choose from! And it is such a peaceful experience. I felt meditative looking through their selection. Wish I could go back daily to relax and enjoy.

Bought a beautiful fan here. The lady was very nice to me and showed me around the shop.

I had a wonderful experience at this store today and yesterday. The staff were incredibly kind and professional, and the fans are absolutely beautiful. On my first day, two female employees kindly helped me choose my fans and matching pouches. On my second day, I returned to the store to confirm whether my card payment from the first day was successful. The male employee who assisted me was very kind and professional, confirming that the payment had gone through. Thank you once again! I highly recommend this store to anyone looking for a beautiful piece of craftsmanship. I'll add some pictures once I'm back in Germany. ありがとうございます Vielen Dank Jaswinder Singh

Very authentic shop, with an extremely helpful staff. Be mindful though they don't speak English. Bought a hand fan for my grandma, she loved it!

Our youngest was keen to get a locally made fan and we hunted around the Nishiki market area for a while finding several stores that seemed to be aimed at the tourist market, until we found this place. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The selection is excellent with both functional and decorative types. We found what were looking for.

They have a huge selection of fans. Even if you don’t plan on buying, it’s nice to look around at the displays.
