Where to Drink Bombay Sapphire Sparkling Lemon in the Twin Cities | Eater

"It’s hard to go wrong with beautiful fish and pristine waterfront views, especially at Mizu Japanese, a stylish sushi bar adjacent to a marina on White Bear Lake. Mizu offers a wide variety of nigiri and sashimi, from yellowfin tuna to surf clam to sea urchin to squid. Plus, its entree selection feels more deliberate than that of many sushi restaurants; there are the typical teriyaki salmon and yakisoba dishes, but also miso-glazed sea bass and a few types of ramen. Mizu hosts happy hour from 5-6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and from 4 p.m. til close on Sundays, the perfect time to visit and try the Bombay Sapphire Sparkling Lemon." - Cecilia Johnson

I love the vibe of this place, and it's a perfect spot for summer. Sitting outside, watching people, the lake, cars, and music goes on is an incredible night. Staff were nice, friendly, helpful, and were able to provide details of drinks and food, plus she checked on us consistently. Appreciated that.

Google
I was shock to see this restaurant only has 4.4 stars. I’ve been coming here with my family for several years now and the food is amazing. The venue is super cute and the service is prompt. The chefs are personable and knowledgeable and the sushi rolls are great. Plus looking out at the lake, what more could you want?

Google
Had a lovely experience at Mizu. Their food is not only stunning to the eyes but tastes just as good! I personally had the gyoza and yakisoba. In the yakisoba, the steak was so tender and every ingredient had a purpose. For the gyoza, I didn't care for it being both shrimp and pork, I think it was mostly the texture that threw me. You can make reservations on their website. They have a lot of high top seating so if that's not your thing make sure to add it in your reservation.

Google
We dined here for our anniversary and found it to be just ok. We found the prices to be slightly too high compared to the quality of the sushi and other food. We didn’t have any bad food, we just weren’t blown away by any of our dishes. Our server was nice but we only saw her a couple times throughout the night. Overall, we will probably explore other options in White Bear Lake before returning to Mizu.

Google
Great food, great service, great drinks, but the MOST uncomfortable seats I have ever sat on in a restaurant. Will not be back for that reason. There are no booths and the space is very LOUD, cramped, and uncomfortable.

Google
Lovely, beautiful views and super excellent staff! Friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. We have traveled the world and experienced a lot of 5 star restaurants and this one is top notch! The pomp and circumstance are not our thing. Great cuisine is…. Thanks Mizu we found our favorite Japanese restaurant right here is WBLK! You continue to amaze us with new dishes each time we visit. Thank you for your continued creativity!

Google
I loved Mizu! We had a great experience, great service and great food. The food can take a while to come out but it is worth the wait. Everything we ate was delicious! It's a nice vibe sitting outside overlooking the lake. Definitely will be back!

Google
We brought our daughter to Mizu to celebrate her 11th birthday and had a fabulous experience. All the food was fresh and it was apparent a great deal of thought and detail went into each dish. We plan on returning to enjoy the beautiful outdoor space. The A5 waygu steak was to die for. Edit: 3 years later we returned and had the A5 waygu. Once again it was the best steak I’ve ever had in my life. We had the White Bear Lake roll, yakisoba and other dishes as well. They were all thoughtfully prepared. This place is consistently solid. Thank you!

Yelp
As always Mizu was fantastic. We usually dine in but with two little kids this isn't always an option. Our take out orders are always fresh and ready on time. Everything on the menu is fantastic! If you're there for drinks check out the smoking gun!

Leila G.

Yelp
The two stars are because the server was great. Everything else was blegh. I had the pork and kimchi app and the bulgogi dinner. Everything just tasted salty without any real flavor. Ambience was meh. We were sat at a table that was pretty much in the pathway out to the patio. The chairs were super uncomfortable for anyone over a size 4. The ass part was really small and the metal rod dug into my hips. The place was really noisy. They need to put some consideration into noise mitigation. Walls are bare. Overall layout of restaurant was weird. Desert was a cheesecake and i would bet money on it being some doctored up box cheesecake from the grocery store. Prices were way too high for the quality.

Yelp
Still one of my favorite sushi spots in the cities! Service is always fantastic and so is the food. You'll pay a little bit for the quality but I honestly think it's worth it. There's plenty of other options other than sushi and it's always a wonderful atmosphere for a date night. Will continue to come back! We balled out on our last visit as we were celebrating our anniversary and with drinks, it came to about $200. Not bad for just getting everything we could possibly want.

Yelp
This place is the best sushi restaurant in the Minneapolis surrounding area! Everyone who works there are so kind and helpful. I love the smaller size of restaurant and the open kitchen. The sushi is outstanding! Every year we go for birthday celebrations and I look forward to it every time.

Yelp
Sunday sushi on the water in White Bear Lake, amazing!!! I will do it every Sunday happy hour. Customer drinks are so real and delicious! Atmosphere on the lake is stunning. Protected from the wind. John's staff is amazing and knowledgeable on menu items and all allergies to be where of. Wonderful meal and view. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
This is the best sushi spot ever. Drinks are delicious and so it's the food. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Finally made it to Mizu after hearing great things for years. Booked a sushi bar reservation for our wedding anniversary. Easy online booking. The food was fantastic! We ordered a few things from the happy hour menu and regular menu Philly Roll- love that they used Brie cheese Seaweed salad- love that they don't add cucumbers SASHIMI SAMPLER- 15PC CHEF SELECTION amazing!! Tobiko - Flying Fish Roe with added quail egg WBL Roll- Inside - Tuna, Avocado, Jalapeno, Cilantro, Spicy Mayo, Outside - Scallop, Ponzu, Scallion, Chili Oil, Togarashi- this spice was a little over powering Had a couple hot sakes and Sapporo's with our meal We were seated by the host and given drinks by him but then we're able to order drinks from the sushi chef it was a little confusing. The host did spill a beer on accident but made is right by buying my husband one. The chairs are noted in other reviews and being a smaller person I could see how these would not be comfortable for the average size person. They are hardwood and have a small butt seat. I don't mind the 20% being added to the bill at all! It's brought up right away so no one is shocked. I appreciate the transparency that this is a tip and not some health and wellness bologna that many places in Stillwater and Mpls add on their receipts. Thanks for not making this confusing. Friendly sushi chefs and we made use of the free indoor parking garage on a chilly and rainy evening. Definitely will be back for the patio and more raw scallops. Love all your restaurants!

Yelp
Love Mizu! Great atmosphere and location right on the lake, plenty of free parking in the garage or along the street. Food is spectacular, prices are high but you get what you pay for. Service has been excellent both times we've been there with all the staff pitching in to make sure guests are taken care of. Great place for an upscale meal, especially if you're celebrating a special occasion, reservations necessary.

Yelp
My favorite spot for sushi! Beautiful location right by the water, a variety of seating options, two gender neutral bathrooms, fantastic service, overall experience is always top notch. They always have a creative specials menu featuring rolls, appetizers, and entrees. I love to sit at the sushi bar and watch them cook. The dining area is less social and more of an intimate setting for a date or group of friends. I do have to note that the chairs are metal, mostly tall, and have a small seat (not ideal for larger customers but it's do-able). The outdoor seating in the warmer months is also a fantastic option! I'd highly recommend for an anniversary, date night, or small celebration. Also take advantage of the happy hour menu when you can, it's a great deal! This time I tried the Steak Yakisoba noodles and a Dynamite Roll. Both were excellent and very fresh! My boyfriend had the Tonkotsu Ramen and Toro - Fatty Tuna Sashimi and had great things to say about both. I also had a NA Koi Cocktail and it was fantastic, similar to a screwdriver with some tang. I usually end up trying something new every time and it's all been delicious. Some of my favorites are the Gyozo, Mizo scallops, White Bear Lake roll, and Shoga Roll. You really can't go wrong with anything you try though!

Yelp
Wonderful service, delicious food, welcoming vibe. Great all day Sunday happy hour deals!

Yelp
My partner and I decided to try this place for our anniversary dinner as we both really love seafood- especially sushi. It is one of the few places in the Twin Cities that has seafood ramen, which we really appreciated because my partner doesn't consume pork or beef but loves noodle dishes. The seafood protein to noodles portion of the ramen was also good. It is also one of the few places that serves uni. It was my first time having uni so I enjoyed the experience even if I think it's not for me lol We really enjoyed the patio facing the lake and walking around the downtown area afterwards. It was pricey but for the quality for what you can get in the area and coming for a special occasion, it was worth trying for us. I hope to try their happy hour in the future!

Yelp
My husband and I decided to try out this place for my early birthday. The restaurant is located right by White Bear Lake so the view was great. We made a reservation for 6 PM. We were seated indoors and by the window. Placed our food order by 6:20 PM. We did not get our food until 7:20 PM--1 hour later. One thing to keep in mind is this place is only open in the evening. It was a Sunday, so they had happy hour on certain foods all-day. We got the Tempura roll, Japanese A5 Wagyu 6 oz, Tonkotsu ramen, and seaweed salad. The only thing that this restaurant got right is the Wagyu. The meat was buttery and melted right into your mouth. The rest of the food was fairly bland--no authentic taste of Japanese food. The tempura roll was very dry and had not sauce on it. The rice inside the roll did not tasted fresh. It was hard to swallow. Seaweed salad was typical, nothing special. The Tonkotsu ramen tasted like the instant ramen you can buy from the grocery store because you cannot even taste the pork broth. It was such a disappointment! If you are looking for a place to spend some money with flavorless food, then Mizu is the place to go! This will be our first and last time coming here.

Yelp
Excellent sushi - 5 stars! I had a great experience at Mizu. The sushi was very good. They also have various soups, bowls, a few desserts, specialty cocktails, beer, and a couple varieties of teas. The customer service was first class from beginning to end. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It has a clean, spacious, angular, open vibe to it...lots of light gray colors with wood accents. You get the idea. I could just as well have been sitting at LoLo or Crave. It's the latest look for trendy restaurants. But I like it. Mizu is a bit on the expensive side. I spent 73 bucks for 1 specialty cocktail, 1 hot tea, 2 sushi rolls, and last but not least, one mochi ice cream ball. So with the automatic tip for the whole staff (and my voluntary tip for the server), my modest dinner set me back 100 bucks. On the subject of money, this is one of those new trendy places that charges you an automatic 20% gratuity to support a "living wage" for the entire staff of front line workers. I have mixed feelings about this. Personally, I'd rather pay a higher amount for the food without separating out a woke mandatory fee which lets them take care of the workers with a "living wage". Please, knock off the virtue signaling and just charge me more for the food, and management can figure out staff wages versus other expenses and the owner's profit. That's how every other business on the planet works. Oh, well. I'm not in charge...so fee it is at Mizu. I paid the 20% fee plus I voluntarily added another 25 dollar tip for my server. So...I guess...in the end...I ended up paying 36 bucks for gratuities. Overall, a great first visit. Thumbs up! -Maxx

Yelp
This is the second time we've been. Everything was Castaic - from the service(Nicole was fantastic) to the cocktails, to the food.... All the sushi was wonderful, the cocktails were perfect and our main server could not have done a better job! Cozy atmosphere. Can't wait to go back. Highly refined checking this place out.

Yelp
I suggested this spot for dinner with my partner for our anniversary. We were both excited for the food and view having passed it many times. It's a bit more expensive than our typical dinner out, so we'd waited for an occasion to visit. We'd been to Acqua and thought it was tasty and unique with great service and being the same ownership, expected something similar. We were underwhelmed. It was pretty quiet for a Tuesday - we opted to sit inside because the patio/deck was pretty crowded. Our first shock was how uncomfortable the chairs inside were. We eventually got used to it, but I can't imagine anyone thinks the chairs are comfortable. Service was pretty slow and there was no commentary on the menu. We ended up ordering the bulgogi and the shrimp fried rice. A couple minutes later, we were told they didn't have enough rice for the bulgogi which seemed particularly strange for a Japanese restaurant. When we asked what was suggested as an alternative, the server went skipped over a few things saying "Oh wait that needs rice too" before suggesting the Yakisoba. The food itself was pretty good but nothing outstanding. The Japanese buns were a bit dry as was the fried rice. The rolls (dynamite and spicy tuna) were good as was the yakisoba. I'm not sure if there is any desert offerings - if there are they weren't offered to us. For the price, I don't think we'll be coming back here except maybe for happy hour.

Yelp
Always enjoy our meal, good service and great cocktails. The spicy beef ramen was out of this world!

Yelp
The customer service here is amazing; every person that works here greets you like you're a family member. From the edamame to the cocktails to pork belly ramen, everything that you have here will be amazing! Don't look at the price tag, just enjoy your time. It will be worth it!

Yelp
At first our impression wasn't great. Even though we had a reservation it took a long time getting our table and initial service. We didn't even have menus on our table. But once our server (she was so helpful and nice) came and we got food the experience was so much better. The sushi (spicy tuna roll and salmon roll) is amazing and probably the best miso soup we've ever had. This is a loud restaurant but totally worth the food. Also recommend the tuna tataki appetizer.
google avatar

Yelp
The Food here is Amazing. No other sushi place has beaten this place and I go to a lot of sushi places. The servers are nice and the place is located in a nice area. The ambiance is nice. There is lots of parking in the back. You won't go wrong with this place.

Yelp
This is located in WBL, and I've been avoiding it in favor of venturing into Minneapolis where generally the food scene is much more reliable. However, Mizu Japanese surpassed all my expectations and completely blew me away. This is the first week MN has allowed sit down dining since the Covid19 outbreak in March. They offered a 5-Course patio tasting menu for $65/person (reservations required). Everything was sanitized routinely and the staff was careful to respect everyone's health. Typically when I think about Japanese cuisine I think, "I'm going to leave a little hungry, but that's ok." My love for sushi can overcome my desire to overly satisfy my hunger. There is a lot of food with this tasting menu. Don't worry, you won't be hungry afterward. The miso broth was fresh and light. The kaiso seaweed salad was perfectly balanced, and the seaweed texture was cut extremely thin and yet had a wonderful crunch to every bite. My wife was hesitant to order the Yellowtail Sashimi with Serrano. There's a thin slice of Serrano on top of each piece. Normally, this is a daring move for a restaurant. Minnesotans generally are afraid of spice. The freshness of raw fish unencumbered by rice and anything else tempered the heat of the Serrano and married perfectly. Lastly, but most importantly, I think I tasted the best maki roll of sushi I've ever ordered. Per the waitresses' recommendation, I ordered the Shoga roll. It had two separate pieces of fish, one in the roll and one on top. The pieces were both from the fattiest parts of their species (which means more flavor). Other restaurants mask their fish with strong "spicy aioli", but Mizu let the fish shine. Please, order this roll... you won't regret it. It's been 2-3 months of Covid19 hibernation. I rarely give 5 stars. Maybe the drought contributed to everything tasting heavenly, but I couldn't have been happier.
google avatar

Shannon O.

Yelp
One star is generous. Had an extremely rude and dismissive wait staff. Acted as if we were idiots because we had questions about the menu. Clearly forgot to ring in part of our order and did not care that part of our meal was forgotten. For $200 for two people I would expect a much better experience. It was embarrassing to me as I recommended the restaurant. It left a horrible feeling for me about this restaurant and so will never return.

Katie V.

Yelp
Horrible. I just had reservations. Waited an hour and never got to order. Be mentioned at one point he would be right with us then 20 minutes later he came. When we asked for the check he just said okay you are moving on. And never gave us the check, just walked off.

Yelp
Quality ingredients, but lacking technique. I was craving sea urchin, as I always am. Learning the edible parts are the reproductive organs hasn't stopped me of dreaming of these delicate morsels day and night. Top those gonads on a bed of sushi rice and I'm one happy gal. There aren't a whole lot of options in the area for Uni, so Mizu it was. My husband and I sat on the patio, it's a beautiful spot with lake views. Service was friendly and the restaurant is upscale as I expected for four dollar signs. So the food. It is super expensive, I don't mind emptying my pockets for damn good eats, but it should be near perfect. We ordered oysters they had for a daily special, wagyu tataki, a selection of nigiri. We wanted toro, but turns out they were out of all tuna besides bigeye tuna. Wth, it was 6pm, a near empty restaurant. Anyway...we also went with some rolls, the Lady in Water, West Coast, and Philly. Chocolate mousse for dessert. The nori barely stayed wrapped around my Uni, the presentation was horrible, and our sushi rolls were not sliced properly, they were in different sizes...if I were eating home sushi and weren't paying these high prices, fine. Instead we paid over $220 for this. The oysters were refreshing, wagyu tataki was wonderfully meaty and light, and the sea bream nigiri was a surprise new favorite fish for us. We also enjoyed the Lady in Water roll. You get a fresh bite, hamachi and sea bream, texture with the candied ginger, and hauntingly slow heat after.Yum! However, the Uni was disappointing, the rest of the nigiri (they forgot an item here), rolls, and dessert were meh. I'd come back to enjoy the view with a nice cocktail, and stick to a few items I enjoyed, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

Yelp
Yummy Happy hour rocks The view of the lake is impressive Food is so great as is the staff

Yelp
Always great food and atmosphere. The fried rice may be the best I've ever had. This is one of our favorite restaurants in White Bear Lake, the other is Acqua.

Yelp
We had a large group and literally ordered half the menu. Everything we had was exceptional. The roast pork with kimchi and the seared A5 Wagyu were out of this world delicious. I've never had A5 Wagyu before and it is better than I even imagined. The pork belly ramen and gyoza were also worth the trip here! We also ordered 6 or 7 different sushi rolls and can't remember what they were but all incredible. I can't wait to come back!

John S.

Yelp
Great service and amazing food. Can't wait for warmer weather so can eat on the patio, but the dinning room is nice. Favorite place to sit inside is at the sushi bar.

Darian W.

Yelp
10/10! Delicious, decadent, fantastic service, great atmosphere. Tried the miso soup, 4 sushi rolls, tiger shrimp fried rice, and edamame-- all were EXCELLENT!

Yelp
Pretty disappointed how mitsu has been, their prices have gone up, service has gone down. On the menu it states 20% is automatically added to all checks and is distributed among staff for a equal distribution .. then it states this is NOT considered a tip... pretty sure it is. This place is not worth the money anymore.

Panhia Y.

Yelp
Would've loved to rate this higher, but unfortunately, I can't. Before jumping in, let me just share- we are sushi lovers and are always looking for the next best sushi restaurant to dine at. We may not be experts but know enough about sushi to know what's good quality vs. mediocre or lower. I saw this restaurant pop up on social media and was pretty excited about giving it a shot. Did some research online and read the reviews, all of which seemed like it was worth an experience! We went ahead and made reservations. This place doesn't open until later in the evening so we opted to hang around Maplewood until it opened (that's how excited I was!). The restaurant is a good 45 minute drive for us. We finally arrived and got seated. The place overlooks the lake which was beautiful. Seats were small, a bit too small for my liking but hey- could just be me. Ambiance was ok. We ordered quite a few items, over $350 worth of food with a 20% mandatory gratuity. The 20% gratuity didn't bother us too much since we usually tip that much for superior service anyway. With that said, service was great and very worthy of the 20% in my mind! Giving this place a 2-star because it ultimately came down to the food and quality. We were very disappointed in almost everything we ate. The Tonkotzu ramen was too bland for my liking. The sliced pork that came with it was tough- very tough. And the sashimi was low quality all around. We ordered the sashimi chef special (15 pc) and the portions were smaller, which we didn't mind too much but then the quality was not worth the expensive price of this plate at all. We also ordered the crunchy roll- the kids didn't finish it because they didn't like the shrimpy taste of the crunch. Tasted like they crumbled shrimp chips, perhaps? Moving onto the A5 waygu- mediocre at best but we definitely had better elsewhere. Also got the toro- fatty tuna- was again disappointed. The color of the fish itself was a bit off and left an after fishy taste. My husband wasn't too impressed with the sake either. My teenagers requested we don't ever go back. Overall, we were very disappointed in the quality of the food and with the expensive price tag for this experience (which we knew and expected) ultimately left us thinking "we should've just gone elsewhere" (like perhaps, Sushi Fix...one of our favs that supersedes this quality for sure!

Yelp
Ok atmosphere but I honestly felt the food was lacking something. For the price, I expected well seasoned flavors from each bite.

Yelp
Let's be honest with ourselves. The Twin Cities isn't exactly known for their fresh seafood. That being said, there are only a handful of spots where I'm comfortable getting sushi and Mizu is one of them! Situated right across the street from White Bear Lake, Mizu is the perfect spot to enjoy some Japanese bites. Inside, Mizu is simple and modern with a large sushi counter to watch your sushi get rolled if you so please. The cocktail menu is relatively small with all the cocktails tilting toward the sweeter side of scale, but all are very well balanced. The Smoking Gun was the favorite of the night with mezcal and lots of spice from a ginger syrup. The wide variety of fish is always fresh and beautifully prepared. We always get the Sashimi Chef's Sampler along with a couple of signature rolls for a good balance of classic and modern sushi. Make sure to add Mizu to your short list next time you are craving sushi!

Yelp
Fantastic sushi spot! The waitstaff was very pleasant and had great recommendations on menu items. Not a huge sushi selection, but what they did have was excellent.

Mohojo B.

Yelp
Speechless. This is one of the best restaurants I have ever eaten at. Get the wagyu steak. Do it. I've never had anything so Devine in my life. It's better than sex and chocolate cake. The mocha dessert, especially the sesame flavor, hits my tastebuds in a whole new way. The scallops and sushi were top notch. This meal was like seeing a new color you never thought existed before. I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Phillip Y.

Yelp
The location is definitely up there since this is right on the lake. The seating is a bit cold since they have huge windows. We came here last Sunday when there was customer appreciation. We got 20% off our bill which was pretty decent. I got the salmon with rice porridge which was average at best. My wife got the yakisoba noodle with beef which was 10x's better. Brocollini, bell peppers, and tofu along with beef at same price. Service was good and scenery was nice. So, I would come back here but would try something different than the salmon dish.
google avatar

Beargrease S.

Yelp
So you're blaming the state of MN for adding a 20% surcharge for the past 30 months? Assuming that's true, I hope you considered this government overreach when voting. If not, I have zero sympathy.
google avatar

paula k.

Yelp
Service was great and he was very knowledgeable. Ambiance was a very soothing and open space. Very clean. Food was delicious. We left hungry however. The Miso sea bass was $38 served in a small/medium bowl with two medium chunks of fish and maybe 1/2 c of ginger rice and even less of the carrot ginger slaw.
google avatar

Yelp
First, I want to say I was going to give this restaurant a 2/5 stars but I didn't want their entire rating to go down. I will also preface this by saying I went here to experience the Groupon deal which was a 5 course experience retailing for $125 and I paid $75 (with tip $95). This was not a good experience for me or my guest. I'd value the experience at $50 for two people..it wasn't even close to $75 worth. First they come out with pickled items, seaweed, and edamame. The edamame was great and salted nicely, the seaweed was normal, nothing off about it but the pickled items...tasted like they were soaked in gasoline. They didn't taste remotely like how anything pickled should taste. And yes I've had pickled ginger, kimchi, radish, cucumber etc before at plenty of other establishments. The second course was miso soup. Although the presentation was great, the taste was less than ideal. It lacked a certain edge that miso soup is known to have. It tasted watered down and unremarkable. The third course was a chose your own so we picked the roasted pork with kimchi and the chef selected nigiri. The roasted pork was actually pulled pork with a TON of kimchi in it. I picked out all the kimchi from it leaving 1/4 pork and 3/4 kimchi. Terrible. The nigiri was good but the fish cuts were ok. The fourth course was our choice of sushi and they came out as half rolls. This was the only part of the meal I enjoyed but was disappointed by the size. This place really does have unique sushi flavor! The fifth course was suppose to be a molten cake situation but it ended up being a mouse with cream on top. It was about a 4 inch circle...to be shared between two people. It was cold, it tasted off and I was very upset at this point. I felt ripped off by this restaurant. The service was good but the waiter was a little condensing listing off all the minuscule details of every dish. I've been to plenty of Asian restaurants before so I don't need things like ginger or kimchi explained to me. Overall not the best night. I'm glad that me and my guest have a good sense of humor or else I'd be mad at the end. All I ask is that you get better with at least your Groupon customers. Make a menu that they'll want to come back to.

Maria O.

Yelp
The fish is always fresh and the team here is fantastic. The lychee martini is a must!

Yelp
I was torn between 3 & 4 stars because I wasn't totally wowed but it was a good dining/food experience. I'll start with the positives first. The restaurant is gorgeous inside, everything is spread out nicely, everyone is masked. We made it for happy hour and there were a ton of options on the menu. We ordered 4 rolls and a few other items from the happy hour menu. They are smaller rolls but having the 4 different rolls was filling for the two of us. Presentation was beautiful and the rolls were fresh and delicious. We thought the dumplings were just okay. My favorite food off of the HH menu was the kimchi and pork, oh my gosh that was so good! I could live off of that until the end of time! The one food item I was confused by was the fried rice. It was shrimp bacon and chicken (I think). , I don't think I've ever had fried rice with bacon before and don't think I would want to have that combo again, the bacon just over powers everything else and didn't fit in with the rest of the meal but over all everything was good. I would like to add our waiter was prompt and full of knowledge but it was so hard to hear him telling us about the menu because he was wearing a thick scarf instead of a mask.

Yelp
Recently moved In the area and my sushi-loving partner was dying to try this place cause of the good reviews. Cool. So, we get in the general area and notice it's busy AF. Try to figure out where to park. I call and see if we'll need a reservation or not. Lady who answered the phone didn't know (??), said she needed to ask her manager, and eventually hung up on me after being on hold for a bit. We found a place to park, shrugged, and wandered to the restaurant. At this point I had a feeling this wouldn't end up well, but whatever. Got to the restaurant and stood in a small waiting area for 5 minutes before being greeted. Doesn't seem like a long time, but it is when you're standing awkwardly in a doorway. Finally, someone greets us - I notice this is the manger. He exasperatedly asked if we have a reservation. Didn't bother to explain that we tried. We say no, and he says it's a 30 min wait. Partner is so excited for fancy expensive sushi so we go walk around for 30 minutes. Waiter was AMAZING. I can't remember his name, unfortunately, but he is why I'm giving this 2 stars instead of 1. Food was super expensive. Sushi was not great. Everything was covered with an excess of masago. We tried to order the yakisoba, but they were out (?? It's noodles and meat). Got the shrimp fried rice instead. It was okay... VERY bacon-y and was a little overdone (parts were burnt). First time my partner has ever said the sushi wasn't good at a Japanese restaurant. Sucked.

Yelp
The WBL roll was disappointing but the Sea Bass was delicious. The ambiance is really lacking and makes the whole experience feel off. It feels like your walking into a display or show home filled with dining room tables.

Yelp
Enjoyed Maguro & Hamachi - Yellowtail sashimi at this beautiful place next Rob White Bear Lake. First time trying them, loved the ambience and has a beautiful view of the lake. Definitely recommend this place for a nice lunch date or casual dinner night. You might need a reservation, call ahead.

Yelp
I really like Mizu. Quality of fish is excellent and the staff is great. During my recent visit I found that they automatically charge gratuity of 20%. I usually tip more so I don't have an issue with that. I do have an issue with the fact that I am taxed on the gratuity. It might sound insignificant to some but I pay enough taxes and will simply not dine here again given the current practice. My line in the sand I guess.

Yelp
I book this place for my husband's birthday and the service was horrible. I made reservations ahead of time online for a party of 8- we got spit up 4 to a table which was fine. Our reservation was at 7 pm and we show up at 6:50 pm a little early, the waitress told us to wait as they were getting our table ready. However, they gave our table to another party that came after us! We waited an extra 20 mins to get seated. The waitress took forever to come and take our order. I brought a cake and ask for extra plates and forks the waitress informed me that they charge $3 per piece to cut the cake. I have never experienced the before. The waitress also mess up on our tabs. All our orders were mixed up. It was a really disappointing night.

Yelp
We decided to try this sushi restaurant. Great quality fresh fish for its price! Service was good, we went at 4PM on a Friday and it wasn't too busy. They did forget our sushi roll order but it wasn't a problem for us. Servers were kind and professional. We ordered the scallop crudo as an appetizer. It was raw scallop and orange topped with herbs. It was phenomenal. Something you would have at a 14 course meal dinner haha. The Japanese A5 wagyu MELTED in our mouth, along with the salmon and toro nigiri. I like how the sushi rolls were not drenched in sauce so you can taste the ingredients. Last but not least, the dessert. It was a mousse with vanilla cream on top with a hint of salt. It was a sweet delight. I would recommend this place!
