Mizu Sushi Bar & Asian Fusion

Went for dinner on a Saturday night around 6p. I got the hot and sour soup, made to order and two rolls. A spicy tuna and dynamite roll. Service was quick. I'd eat there again. 8 pieces per roll for the two I got.

My wife and I heard good things about about this sushi place. We decided to stop for an early dinner. Place had 2 other guests and we were able to choose where to sit. Was promptly greeted and we got our drinks. My wife had the sunshine roll and I had the red October. Both were ok and were displayed nicely.

Love this place, their food is super fresh and tastes amazing. I used to get the chicken katsu roll from Sake Don until they closed in 2020. I have not found anywhere in the city that makes it. This place helps me get what is close to that by ordering a veggie roll and sesame chicken bites. They allow me to customize a roll without ridiculously overpriced substitution fees. The alien roll and the BBQ eel roll are a must. On previous visits I've had the tempura veggies, great choice, and the gyozas are perfect. I can't think of anything bad to say about this place. Reasonably priced, clean, fresh, delicious food, and friendly service, even to a weirdo like me that orders chicken with sushi.

This is a neighborhood gem. It has a welcoming ambience and comfortable banquettes. Our server was very personable and attentive. I loved the Naruto roll, Eel avocado roll and salmon avocado roll! I highly recommend Mizu.

Great place for authentic sushi and sashimi. Jennifer our server was super friendly an attentive, plus she makes the best lemon drop martini. The steak tartar was very fresh and delicious. The crab Rangoon, get this, uses actual real crab meat. The miso soup was so creamy and super tasted. This place is unjustified under the radar clearly this place is in the top five sushi places in the area. We will be back!

I'll start by saying this place is amazing! I've already been here 4 times since it's opened. The staff is very friendly, courteous and quick. It's a very nice atmosphere that you don't expect in the heart of elmwood. This is actually a gem! The sushi rolls are amazing and fresh. The lunch specials are definitely worth it! It's always a plus that the staff recognizes you've been there before and provide excellent service! Psssssst try the miso soup.. it's GOod Soup!

AMAZING & WELCOME addition to the area. Our server was Jennifer. She is friendly and quite good at anticipating the needs of her customers before they have to ask for anything. We start with Clear Soup & Miso soup. Oh, my!!! Delicious broth bursting with flavor that warmed the soul on a cold day. Next come the fried to perfection Crab Ragoon made with actual Blue Crab mixed with the perfect amount of cream cheese with a salty, sweet sauce on the side. Followed that with Hamachi Kami (baked yellow tail neck).A generous size filled with clean, fresh, perfectly cooked meat. The Mizu Salad is piled high with fat chunks of the frshest tasting salmon, tuna, whitefish & thinly sliced marinated squid The avocado slices were perfectly ripe all served with cucumbers in a ponzu type dressing. We finished with the Alligator Roll. It was not just a mushy mixture of rice and whatever like most places but each individual ingredient was allowed to shine. The prices are reasonable. The portions are generous. The service is excellent. The restraunt is clean. I will not be eating Sushi/Asian Fusion anywhere else. I can't can't wait to go back.

We picked Mizu out of all the various surrounding sushi restaurants and I'm so glad we did! It's small and cozy inside and the service is very welcoming. To start our dinner we ordered hot sake, a plum sake cosmo, and gyoza. For our main course we got the Alien roll, Summer roll, Playboy roll, and the Dirty old man roll. Everything tasted amazing and came out relatively quick. I will definitely return to this establishment in the future.

i enjoyed the two dishes i ordered--(1) the truffle salmon and (2) tuna tataki. i was craving something protein-dense, tasty, unique, and healthy. the quality of the salmon in the truffle salmon was great for the price. also was not too salty and had a good amount of truffle oil. the quality of the tuna in the tuna tataki was good as well. a little too heavy on the hand for the ponzu though. my waitress was super nice. the food came out fast. they had sports playing in the background, but it was quiet and intimate enough for a family lunch.

Food was excellent and prices were good. Shrimp was cooked perfectly with very good flavor. I am surprised with the amount of shrimp and crab meat in our meals - a lot more then I expected. Will be eating here again.

For me the most important thing is the flavor of the food. I found this place while in Elmwood looking for something to eat and the 4.5 stars intrigued me. Well, it did not disappoint! I was torn between the Geisha and Emerald. The server recommended the Emerald because the jalapeño Garlic Sauce. She was not wrong. It is SO good. The sushi is fresh, the rice is perfect and the presentation is nice. I will say the emerald is SPICY.. like I normally get spicy salmon and tuna, but it's a little next level heat for me. Nevertheless, I'm drinking my water and loving every bite. The gyoza was also good.. I do feel it's hard to go wrong there. It wasn't a wowzers but still worth the order. I would recommend this place over and over again. No complaints on service. It was a sit yourself and I was promptly waited on. The inside is clean and nicely decorated.

Dinner was via Uber eats and this time the restaurant flunked. We ordered teriyaki chicken, soup, and sushi. Soup tasted like fishy dishwater, sushi had a lot of cream cheese which wasn't mentioned ( inedible by some who is lactose intolerant) , and the chicken was covered with an overly oily unflavorful teriyaki sauce. The styrofoam container had a big hole in it and the sauce had leaked over the inside of the bag.

Food, service and atmosphere are great and it's in a great location. Love that there's now good sushi right over the bridge. Such a great vibe in here at the bar or in a booth!!

This is a place where you'd really have to look to notice. It's in a small plaza next to Walmart. The ambience is really nice, and the place is clean. I enjoyed the Thai Milk Tea, not too milky and just enough tea. The Jalapeño Yellowtail and Tuna Tataki have the same sauce. They were very refreshing. My favorite was the Albacore Ceviche; it had just the right amount of tart and sweet. The service was great as well! Our server was super nice and accommodating. It's a must try for me.

Jefferson has some of the best sushi in NOLA, and Mizu is one of those gems! The fish is FRESH and service is good. Simply put- I will definitely be back for more.

My friend and I wasn't hungry but wanted to have a light snack. We pass by the place and the parking lot was pretty empty so we were skeptical. Boy, was I wrong. Everything I had was good especially the Emerald Roll. It definitely has a kick w/that house made jalapeño garlic sauce Most definitely coming back another time with an empty stomach to try other things

I came here for lunch and got the Sashimi Bento Box, which I know works be too much food but would be worthwhile and it was. First, the box. I started with the Clear Soup which had mushrooms and noodles. I love the broth. So robust and warming. The noodles are a nice touch. The potstickers (fried dumplings) were yummy. There was enough filling and it was yummy. Sometimes the fillings aren't all that and a bag of chops, but this was super yum. The (lettuce) salad imo was eh. They also had a noodle salad which had Japanese Mayo on it and it was awesome. The sashimi was fresh. Rather bland but fresh and good. The California roll was a California roll. All in all I enjoyed my lunch. The waitress even offered to get me a tea to go.

Great spot in an area where the neighborhood needed a good sushi spot. They do a ton of takeout, and always have a steady stream of people dining in, but we've never had an issue grabbing a table. Good casual spot! The atmosphere is inviting, and staff are always super friendly. We've tried a lot of the drinks and rolls on the menu. Everything is inventive, fun, and delicious! I really enjoy stopping in for a cocktail (lychee martini) and roll for a fun dinner date. The seafood soup and crab rangoon are some of favs, along with the alien roll, salmon & jalapeno sashimi, and saints roll. Granted, everything is delicious, but those I've ordered more than one.

Never realized there was a sushi place here! Don't drive much past this area but this is a good hidden spot! Our server was nice and helpful in recommending items. Our favorite was the Jalapeño Yellowtail sashimi. Overall seafood was really fresh and good prices. They are open on Sundays which is also a big plus since many restaurants have now decided to close on Sunday.

I know, I hate to be the curmudgeon opinion when it comes to reviews- THIS PLACE WAS INCREDIBLE. It wasn't "meh, it's ok".... The place was like dynamite . That is very good that they handled everything extremely well!!!! So that can only mean a bad thing to the other places around there. And being located near a giant store on a major state highway by the bridge, wow. Location, location, location.

Can't go wrong..really good sushi, ambiance, and very friendly! I highly recommend! The staff was really nice and we were seated quickly. The food prices were reasonable especially since the quality of our meal taste very fresh.

Don't let the "strip mall" location fool you. Delicious, fresh sushi prepared by skilled itamae and served by very nice and attentive servers. There or to go, you can't go wrong.

The service was excellent and very kind. And somehow came around whenever I needed a drink! The inside was very nice and seemed extremely clean. It is definitely a reasonably priced sushi place, and sushi came out quick with no excuse whatsoever or hold up. Definitely highly recommend this place to anybody who is in the mood for sushi. And the sake was top notch and very good aswell.

I was in the city for a medical appointment and needed to pick up packing supplies at Home Depot and found this gem on Yelp, my go to for good restaurants in areas I am not familiar with ! This was a worthy recommendation by the #stars. The service if fantastic -they are prompt and efficient without the annoying hovering! The food was delicious, just what the Dr ordered ! The Udon soup was delicious and soothing. My only complaint with the tempura was the presence of broccoli, something that you would never find in this variety in Asia, I detest broccoli at this phase of life, but the vegetables otherwise were delicious, as was the fresh local wild caught shrimp ! Not at all greasy ! The Metairie roll was a perfect ending to a delicious meal. The tuna was extra fresh! There is a sign that states no public restroom, shame that is necessary in this lovely, clean restaurant. Highly recommend !

Everything we had was excellent. The raw seafood was super fresh, rices perfect, sauces were balanced, the tempura perfect, cooked dishes fresh and appealing. The service was great. We were there for lunch & the server was attentive but not lingery. She had the whole dining room but was very good. We didn't wait or want for anything. The small restaurant is clean & bright. Will definitely come back.

Food was excellent and service was great. It's family owned and operated. It's very small and loud once it fills up.

FOOD- If only I can give this place more than just 5 stars. It is SO good I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Service- They are amazing and are so sweet Ambiance- it's very calm and its really clean.

I went to feast on the udon and tempura appetizer and the Metairie Roll with soy paper (a $2 up charge, which was fine with me. The udon noodle soup was just what the Dr ordered. I am not fond of broccoli and was informed that I can ask for no broccoli in my tempura in the future, and I will. However, the tempura I had was fresh, crispy and in no way greasy- a delight and nice textural contrast to the Udon soup! The Metairie roll has Krab shredded (listed as snow crab - could be an issue with translation) extremely fresh tuna and perfectly ripe but not mushy avocado with a bit of eel sauce on top. The restaurant is clean, with the sushi chef preparing the sushi in the back of the front of the house. The service is fantastic, attentive without hovering! Highly recommend and will return as it is the best sushi I have eaten in the New Orleans area!

Great food not to loud and just plain out a good place to go for sushi and fried rice. I will say however the prices are a-little over the top for some items. Overall good experience. Service is also fast.

We've eaten here twice recently. Storefront is deceptive, as this is the best "sushi" we've found in N O. Easy to find, lots of parking. Beer & wine, open on Monday. Very clean. Reasonable prices, great selection if a bit confusing menu. This is definitely on our "go-to" list. One caveat: the sushi is a lot better than the meal plates. Rick

New Asian restaurant that just opened here in the Harahan/Elmwood area. The staff was super nice when I went to pick up my to go order. I'll definitely be back to try other dishes. I started with thr Tuna Sashimi which was fresh and good. Entree I went with the Yuki Udon Beef. The portion for this was a nice amount that I had leftovers. I enjoyed the noodles on that dish as well.

My favorite sushi restaurant around. Try and go at least once a week unless I am not in town. Lots of pics attached. Service and food is THE best! In my opinion the freshest fish around. I always get the tiger roll and wasabi tuna pretty much every time but also have had several others too like the Playboy, Alien, Sunshine, Alligator and Dirty Old Man. If you like Truffles, salmon truffle is delish. Jalapeño poppers, Japanese noodle salad and gyoza are great too. Oh and the fried cheesecake for dessert is just sinful. I am hesitant to even post a glowing review because I would love this place to stay a hidden gem, lol but I do wish others to experience the great food and service and wish them all the success and business. my fav!

Everything I have ordered from this restaurant has been great! My favorite so far is the Shamrock roll and the Yaki Soba. The egg drop soup is delicious too!

One of the best Sushi and Asian bars around. Soon as you walk in, you're greeted instantly from everyone. You're allowed to sit wherever you want so it's no wait, everyone is polite and server consistently checks on your table. The food is amazing and everything is clearly served fresh because it comes out so hot. The egg drop soup is *chefs kiss* perfect and is the perfect appetizer to go along with the crab Rangoon. The sushi is fresh and shrimp fried rice is some of the best I've had, which is enough for two people. Food comes out pretty fast, no longer than 10-12 minutes usually. The ambiance is just perfect, not too loud, the lights are dimmed just right, music playlist that blends well with atmosphere and two TVs for some late evening sports viewing. Highly recommend to visit at least once, I promise you'll be addicted.

We were in town for a short stay. Decided to get some sushi and tempura. We were not disappointed. Everything was fresh and tasty The place wasn't busy on the Sunday night we went. Will definitely come back when we're in town again

We were so excited to have a new sushi spot close to home. Had to try it as soon as we noticed it opened and they did not disappoint! Since we have two kids we got take out and everything was correct which we appreciated. I couldn't get pictures of everything before my crew attacked it but we tried a little bit of everything and enjoyed it all. My favorite has to be the burning man roll. We will definitely be back.

This place is outstanding!!! We had the albacore ceviche, alien roll and the playboy roll. So fresh and the flavor combinations are great! It's not a big place. Very nice decor and very clean. Our server was great and took great care of us. Best I've ever had and I've had sushi at a lot of top restaurants. I will be back!!!

So I was gonna give three stars but, here's what happened. First we ordered drinks me a root beer, then my 11 year old ordered a coke, my 21 year old got a thai tea, then i asked for a sprite for my 4 year old & repeated myself saying a kids sprite for him and i pointed to my son & the waitress replied ok sure. She came back with the drinks and my 11 year old ended up with a sprite and my son as well but in a styrofoam cup with lid. So I told the waitress she ordered a coke so she said oh ok I'll change it. So she took our order. Me the bento box, my 11 year old the octopus sashimi & my 21 year old got a sushi combo. She came back a few minutes later with the coke. Then it took a while but our food finally came. My 11 year old said the octopus was very chewy and tough and wasn't able to eat it so she had to spit it out. And of course sashimi isn't cheap so I told her don't eat it and I'll talk to the waitress and send it back. Meanwhile my 20 year old tried the octopus and took a half inch bite to try and see if it really was chewy. And indeed it was chewy & hard for her to bite a piece off but she managed to eat it anyway. I was going to cut a piece to try myself but I was unable to cut it off it was too rubbery so I decided not to and started eating my food. My tempura had a weird bitter taste almost like old rancid oil. I was still able to eat it but it left a bitter aftertaste. So when the waitress came back I kindly told her the octopus was way to chewy & rubbery to eat if she could take it off the bill or bring something else in place of it. She said oh, really? Its fresh caught. I said but it's so rubbery we can't eat it. So she said I'll go talk to the manager. A few minutes later the manager came over and in quite a stern voice & composure said you ordered the octopus and that's how it always is. Octopus is chewy by nature. Have you never had it before. I replied that Ive never had it like this. That Ive made it at home for my daughter before and it was tender. She looked perturbed and said well that's how it is & that's what you ordered. I asked if it could just be removed from the bill as we only ate one of the 6 slices. She said no you ate half of it. I said no my daughter tried to eat one and spit it out then my other daughter took a half inch bite of another to see if it really was chewy. She then said ok so that's two pieces you ate. At that point i just agreed with her and said ok two then. So she said then I'll take off 4 and she abruptly grabbed my daughter's plate & left. Mind you my daughter had other food on the plate, mostly eaten but she didn't even bother to ask if she was finished. At the end the busser gentleman came over to take our plates & i asked him for the bill. He quickly brought it over and asked was there a problem with our food? I said yeah the octopus was super rubbery and chewy and we couldn't eat it. He said oh I think that's how it comes and how they prepare it and slice it. Because it comes that way. And it can be chewy when it's not prepared or cooked properly. I replied yes I know but Ive made it at home and it was tender so i don't know. He said yeah you probably cooked it less or marinated it more or something. He was really nice & understanding though. Meanwhile my son had woken up & I had tried a few times to give him his sprite to drink but he refused. I just thought he was too tired. Then I offered him my root beer and he drank it and said good. I thought it was strange he wouldn't drink the sprite because it's his favorite. Anyway I paid the bill - about $9 out of 14 that was discounted for the octopus and we left. I brought his sprite thinking he'll drink it later. Then on our way home as I was driving down the road I noticed the sprite was wobbling around in the cup holder and was leaking out a bit because it was filled so high so I decided to drink it down a bit so it wouldn't spill when I got a big shock. It was water! I was like what the heck, did I just pay for water?! I was upset to say the least but I didn't check that part of the bill so I guess I'll never know. I wasn't going back to find out. Did that waitress really not hear us ordering our drinks??? I even repeated my son's sprite a second time and she replied ok yeah. All I can say is bruh! Unfortunately I won't be back. And I could have complained about my tempura but I didn't because I was trying to be nice lol.

Run don't walk to this place to enjoy some of the best sushi New Orleans has to offer. This is my second time here and it is truly 5 stars all around. I ordered the salmon avocado roll, shrimp friend rice and crab rangoon. All three dishes were amazing and came out so fast! The servers were so kind even though my friend and I came 40 minutes before closing. The Crab rangoon is made with real crab meat ( no imitation stuff over here) . The shrimp friend rice can be easily shared and is loaded with shrimp. Lastly the rolls were super fresh and tasty! Between the food and the amazing playlist, this restaurant is surely a vibe. Can't wait to go back !

Jennifer was not nice at all We came with full service animal pet and she refused to get us in She lied about having manager on call there was no manager. Service dog is allowed to walk in with its owner. She refused to get us.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner here this evening! We received a flier in the mail with coupons and we were excited to try a new Japanese restaurant so close to our home. Our 14 year old daughter ordered edamame and chicken fried rice and my husband I ordered crab Rangoon and two rolls to share: the Saints Girl Roll and the Crunchy Roll. Both the food and the service were excellent! We are excited to have a new favorite!!

Mizu was great! We went to this restaurant simply because of the positive reviews and it did not disappoint! They opened in February and have been cranking out great food since. The sushi was fresh and delicious. Their classics were well executed and they have a great variety of special rolls. The staff was extremely nice and the place was pretty busy. Service was great. Will definitely be back!

Tasty sushi at pre-inflationary prices. Cute little restaurant and very good service. Agedashi Tofu was also excellent.

Tommy took care of our 10 top today. It was an amazing experience, tommy truly made the service special. 10/10 recommend trying this place out!

The worst experience ever don't recommend at all Worst costumer care the food was poor and not fresh the fish frozen and have taste like iron probably left open in the freezer all night

Decided to try this place with a friend of mine as we were in the mood for sushi. First we ordered a cup of the hot n sour soup. I have to say, this is the best version of this soup I have ever eaten. We then ordered 6 different sushi orders. All were excellent. I highly recommend the Jefferson Roll, spicy crawfish, and the Boston Roll. Food in general was well above our expectations. Our server Jennifer was great. I'm a big component of customer service and Jennifer provided the best customer service I have had in recent memory. She needs to be commended. Overall, this was an excellent dinning experience. I will definitely be back sooner rather than later. This place is a hidden gem!!!

Wow, what a find! The sea food soup was a big portion - lots of seafood - nice broth. Order the Mizo salad - a must - light and refreshing. The Red October roll was a nice choice - I usually avoid rice but was v good. Salmon Avocado as expected and Salmon Naruto well prepared. Service was prompt and friendly. Timing was good too. 3 tables sat just before us and we'd were done in 45 minutes all in... long drive for us but we'll worth it. Wish them all success!!
