Mizumi (Macau)

"The gold-and-red colour scheme feels festive, while the oversized origami sculptures add a touch of whimsy. The room is divided into teppanyaki, sushi and keiseki sections and diners can choose where they wish to be seated. Several set menus are available. For the ultimate fine dining experience, order the kaiseki set menu – you may get to try the dashi made with Hokkaido kombu and kegani, loaded with umami. Ask the sommelier about wine pairing." - Michelin Inspector

Mizumi truly excels in creating an elegant and immersive atmosphere. The decor transports you straight to Japan with its traditional elements combined with modern touches, making for a visually stunning dining experience. The menu at Mizumi offers a broad selection of dishes, covering all the classics you'd expect from a high-end Japanese restaurant. While the offerings are satisfactory and cater well to diverse tastes, they don't necessarily push the boundaries of Japanese cuisine. Here's where Mizumi fell short during my visit. One of the main dishes was forgotten, and rather than acknowledging the oversight, the staff took an inordinate amount of time—40 minutes—to bring it out. By then, the appetite had waned, somewhat souring the dining experience. There was a noticeable lack of accountability; neither the manager nor any staff member offered an apology or acknowledgment of the mistake, which was quite disappointing. Despite the service hiccup, I would still recommend Mizumi, particularly for those who appreciate a beautiful ambiance. The quality of the food, when it arrived, was commendable. However, improvements in service and accountability could elevate this dining experience from good to exceptional. A simple apology or acknowledgment from the staff would have gone a long way in mitigating the impact of the oversight.

Michelin 2 star omakase, everything was good and reach my expectations. Only the sushi rice was a bit too soft, but I enjoyed the omakase so much!

Michelin 2 start restaurant. Without booking, able to walk in, not many peoples, price is reasonable, the sitting area is spacious, good gaps between table, the head chef and staff very friendly, we all took a photo together when we are leaving. Overall the food may be the Michelin title, it gave me too much expectation, so it is not like fly to the sky high feeling, but if it is just a regular Japanese restaurant, I will said it is on my list to revisit again.

This is Japanese fine dining well represented at the Wynn Palace in Macau. It is very expensive but worth the price. Your entire meal is piece by piece hand made in front of you.
