Frankly just disappointing all around. We got there at 7 for our reservation, and it took a little while for us to be able to place our order. We ordered all at once, since we had plenty of time with the menu. Bread was good. Came out fairly fast. Pork Belly App was decent. Tofu salad was overdressed. It took a full 90 minutes before our food came out, and by the time we started eating it, we decided not to finish. The steak was over cooked, under salted, and was just not a good cut of meat at all. Too much grizzle, and this from someone who likes rib eyes. Not to mention it came with 3… THREE asparagus spears… My wife’s pork was also dry and overcooked, and the potatoes were over seasoned and over sweet. We don’t care to take either back with us. All in, for 180$ and nearly two hours of my life, I would have honestly enjoyed a Texas Roadhouse steak more than this.

Google
What a great restaurant. We started with the steamed clams which were cooked beautifully and were very tasty. That led me to order their crab cakes. The crab cakes are interesting with a jalapeno kick. They serve them with what tastes like a mustard sauce. The flavors were well balanced and a bit addicting. The New York Strip steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare, was tender, and had no gristle. The marsala sauce is most tasted in the mushrooms and, again, is nicely balanced. The gorgonzola mashed potatoes were very tasty and I am not really a fan of blue cheese. I finished them. The scallops were very nicely seared with a delicious chutney and a very delicate risotto. Each grain of rice could be felt and was soft. My wife ordered a couple martinis. They were well balanced and quite different from one another. The service was outstanding.

Google
We fortunately found this gem for a Sunday evening dinner after getting into town late. Had the amazing burrata, and fantastic scallops and vegetarian risotto. Lovely service not rushing us out at close.

Google
I had for Dinner a tasty soup of red beans and pork, closing with an handmade dessert: a roasted pear with coconut. Really appreciated both of them. The staff was welcoming and ready to explain the restaurant offer

Mizuna is a restaurant I have been looking forward to visiting for a good while. We were seated and served efficiently and courteously, full marks for the wait staff who excelled. However, I have frequented quite a few restaurants of a similar caliber in the local area and must say I'm disappointed with a few aspects of the experience. The food, although well done and palatable was nothing to write home about. The ambiance felt a little.. stilted as well, with bright furniture that seemed bright and almost cheap compared to the dark and comfortably moody atmosphere the building provided. We notably had to move tables due to the wobbliness of our initial seating. We had the sangiovese with our dinner which was a smooth and palatable drink, good work in that regard. Ultimately, I found Mizuna to be an ambitious but ultimately rather middle of the road experience that failed to justify its above average price point. There are experiences to be had locally that are of better taste and ambiance that are more affordable. I hope the owners and staff can take these criticisms to heart and fulfill the potential their restaurant has to be great. 3/5

Google
1. Our food was incredible. A variety of flavors that kept us interested and going back for more, even after we were stuffed. 2. Service- attentive and eager to please. 3. Atmosphere- calm, quiet and relaxing. Perfect lighting to set the mood 4. Our desert- truly the best part! I had the chocolate tort with blood orange sauce, my other half had the amaretto apple and ice cream. I really wanted to bottle them both up and keep them forever ❤️. We will definitely be back!

Before I start, I gave this same restaurant a 5 star review the last time we ate there and was looking forward to eating there again so this is not a slam but an honest report of our experience. We arrived two hours for dinner before a show (we were early). The service was extremely slow. After an hour and 10 minutes we had only received our wine and salad. I ask the server to see if we could get the food faster because we had a show to catch. We got our food an hour and 30 minutes after we arrived. On our first visit I we had scallops that were delicious and ordered them again. This time they had a strong ammonia taste and I could not finish them. The risotto was bland and mushy. Our duck was cold and well - tasteless. We ask for the bill as soon as our food arrived and only made it to the theater three blocks away as the show was starting. All of this for $132 dollars. Mizuna has gone from a place we have recommend to many people to a place we will never go to again. I do not like to see a business be unsuccessful but that is the most positive thing I can say about tonight. Unsuccessful from start to finish.

Google
I went with a large group for a work event. We got several appetizers and they were all delicious, especially the one with the zucchini corn bread, mozzarella, and roasted beets. My bouillabaisse was delicious and the waiter recommended excellent wines. The reason for the 4-star rating is the bread pudding. It was a little bland, and I don't know who thought serving it with chocolate ice cream was a good idea, but the flavor combination was just bad. Vanilla would've worked a lot better, or no ice cream and more flavor in the pudding itself. Otherwise, great meal and great experience!

Yelp
Food was great; both carnivore and vegetarian were happy. They have a nice and affordable wine list, Our server, Athena had an amazing disposition and took great care of us.

Yelp
Parking was difficult to find. Street parking only. The table set up for our large party was done weirdly; we were put very close to other tables, and even though they knew I was going to be with a service dog, there was no safe place for him to sit. He was stepped on, tripped over, and accidentally kicked by a variety of staff. The service itself was good. Friendly and patient. The food was good too-- the creme brulee was huge and definitely shareable size. We all enjoyed our meals.
google avatar

Yelp
Really disappointing, tried pork belly, tuna poke and chicken wraps. The pork was pre cooked, the fish was soft, probably previously frozen, the chicken in the wraps was over salted. We visited on 12/27. Left after a few bites. Terrible.poor quality ingredients for sure. Especially the pork.

Yelp
We loved the vibe at Mizuna - very cool ambience! Easy walk from the Davenport Grand made it even better. Our server was lovely but she was unfortunately playing role of server and bartender - this made for some very slow service! The food was good but not amazing given the prices. All in all nice experience and we would definitely go back for another!

Yelp
Felt a little guilty showing up 30 minutes before they closed but they seated us with a smile, and our service was prompt, friendly and we were out before other tables who had been there before us. Nice place, good food, nice people. We ordered three appetizers and devoured it all. We didn't want anything heavy that late. Will definitely come again when we can enjoy a full meal and drinks here

Yelp
Awesome food! Excellent service. Atmosphere was conducive for conversation. Thank you for a lovely evening

Yelp
If you are in the area don't miss this restaurant. It was honestly one of the top 5 meals I have ever had. I sat down outside and there were two menus one normal and the second vegetarian. I saw several things on both menus that sounded appealing but then the waitress mention the daily specials and one sounded really good so I went with that. I wish I knew all the ingredients or the name of the dish but she just told it to me so I have nothing to go on. It was a Pappardelle dish with spinach, mushrooms, feta cheese and the most interesting grilled white nectarines. I have never had grilled fruit with pasta before but it was incredible. The flavors worked so well with it all it as absolutely amazing. I can't wait to go back to this restaurant the next time I am in town and I hope they have that again. If not I'm sure everything is incredible on their menu.

Yelp
Cute place with a nice brick wall. Loved the variety of vegetarian options. I can only speak to the vegan meatloaf because that is what I had, but if I could figure out how to get quinoa to taste like that I would have it a lot more often. Had a fantastic waitress as well.

Yelp
We came here for a winter birthday. It was dimly lit inside which gave it kind of a romantic feel. I feel like the tables were too close to each other since when I got up I couldn't push my chair all the way back to get out . I did like the exposed red brick walls and local art displayed. The bread paired with olive oil and balsamic vinegar is always delicious at any place that serves it. We were a larger group and hungry so I appreciated them filling the bread basket and oil dip. I showed up a little late so I can't remember what the group ordered for appetizers, but it was good. For my main course I stuck with what I know will be good which is the steak and potatoes. My steak was cooked perfectly and medium rare. I have never had a New York and it was quite tender. I was quite surprised that I received more than a few asparagus spears and a dollop of mashed potato's. Which is always a bonus. The Gorgonzola mashed potatoes were delicious. Very creamy with a hint of cheese. The mashed potatoes were the star of the dish. I did also really like the assortment of mushrooms on top as well. Everyone in the group ordered different items. A couple of people ordered the duck special, the scallops, and the salmon. One ordered the salad and returned it because there wasn't enough dressing, and wasn't satisfied with the quality of the salad for the price. They all said their food was just okay. I enjoyed my steak and potatoes. Overall my food was good. But if I were going to go out for steak I would go somewhere else like Wolf Lodge or Churchhills.

Yelp
I was visiting from out of town. Came to Spokane to spend my birthday weekend with my 2 son's. Not familiar with the area, my children's mom recommended Mizuna. The service- Both my boy's are now adults, but they also have autism. This sometimes triggers others to treat them like they're children. Our waitress directly engaged with them as if they were no different than any other normal adult. As if she couldn't even tell even though it's blatantly obvious. This encouraged my oldest to look directly at her and give his order with a clear and confident voice without stuttering. He even tossed in some hand gestures to over accentuate what he was saying. To the parents of kids on the spectrum, you know how huge this is. The food- Everything we ordered was awesome. The risotto balls, oven baked chicken, cashew crusted avocado noodles. The only let down was that they were out of the crème brûlée. The key lime and bread pudding definitely made up for it though. The drinks- I love me a good classic old fashioned. It's getting harder and harder these days to find an establishment that won't destroy this drink. The bartender came through on this one. My oldest son has a thing for espresso martini's. I asked him how it was and he responded with a double thumbs up. When it was time for the second and third drink, I just asked the waitress to get me whatever drinks she favored. Again she didn't disappoint. We finally ended the night with a couple shots of a very tasty espresso. The food, the drinks, and especially the awesome waitress (I wish I could remember her name). Grabbing something to eat turned into having a nice family dinner.

Yelp
This was my first visit, I was accompanied by my uncle who was visiting from Seattle. The food was quite good however our server was very unsatisfactory for what I would expect at this type of establishment. His approach seemed disinterested, he never checked on us at any point during the meal, brought the bread to the table halfway through the salad course, and literally chucked our dessert menus towards us on to the table as if he were dealing playing cards at a poker game. My uncle was paying and for that the server is lucky. He would have not received a tip from me with this sort of service. What a shame. I believe that because we did not order wine or alcoholic drinks, we were not worth his time because the tip would not be as large for our ticket. This will surely impact whether I visit again.

Yelp
Consistently great food and service. Very accommodating to adapt their meals to folks who are dairy-intolerant. Having both vegan/vegetarian options and meals for carnivores means that there are options for any diet. Add in a nice wine selection, and you have a dining venue for just about anyone.
google avatar

Yelp
Really good food and execution- service was perfect- wine list has some real winners- the Madeira desert wine is all I can ask for in a Madeira. 10/10 for us. Amazed the price relative to food quality was so low. Very much a value. Pork loin on sweet potatoes mash w apple onion 10-10 Clam appetizer 10/10 Butternut salad w capers - missed for us But not complaining- wife asked me to order something else when she was in bathroom Aranchi in tomato sauce with pesto 10/10 Asparagus soup 9/10 - for me 10/10 Bad was perfect. Love hot soft bread.

Yelp
The food, the service, everything is always perfect here. The food is "fancy" but approachable and well priced for being one of the nicer restaurants in town. Laura was our server and was so sweet and even made a custom drink for us, the Keylime martini. It was the best one we've ever had! I hope they add it to their drink menu so that we can order it next time, too! Their patio is in the alley, but that doesn't describe it well, because it is very romantic. It is a great spot for either a date night or a fun girls night! For food, definitely order the crabcakes to start and the chicken with Gorgonzola cream sauce for dinner. Or any of their seafood dishes are always so good. Plus, they have a lot of vegetarian and vegan options!
google avatar

Marieta L.

Yelp
So I ordered mussels as appetizers and I got clams?? Service is Ok! Ambiance is good, you can't beat downtown and afterwards go for a nice walk in the waterfront.
google avatar

Lindsey H.

Yelp
Our gathering tonight was at @mizunaspokane. The interior offers lots of space but the dark brick and decor makes it feel warm and intimate. Perfect for a date night! Unfortunately the chicken was overcooked but had good flavor and will be back to try some more dishes. . -Pan roasted chicken with crispy polenta and Portabella mushroom in Gorgonzola sauce. -Grilled king salmon with cilantro rice and sautéed asparagus. -The special: Green Curry Seafood claims, prawn, scallops, eggplant and zucchini.

Yelp
Excellent foods and services. It's our forever favorite restaurant in Spokane, definitely recommend for everyone to visit and enjoy the foods.

Yelp
Excellent food and spectacular and delightful ambiance. Highly recommended to everyone in Spokane or those just visiting.

Yelp
We immediately fell for this restaurant the first time we showed up when the server came out with a vegetarian menu! Oh joy to the world - our choices were respected and honored. The dishes are always exceptional: thoughtful, imaginative, tasty, interesting, and really delicious. Mains are generously portioned. The staff are kind, engaged, happy. The wine list offers a nice choice and the server was not only informative but without hesitation offered tastings. Once we turned up on a whim quite late, our server was in great spirits, funny, accommodating. We had so much fun AND walked back to our hotel with a satisfied tummy and a huge smile:)

Christina N.

Yelp
great food and service is wonderful! The patio feels like you are in Europe. We appreciated the waiter who was there for our needs but also gave us space to catch up. good vegetarian options, meat dishes, seafood. Cocktails are amazing! great wine selection

Yelp
OK, the neighbors fed the dog for those ten days you were gone this summer. You want to take them somewhere really nice for dinner, but not embarrassingly as nice as the Davenport or Wild Sage. Mizuna is where you're going to take them! I won't bother repeating all the accolades you can already read here -- just know you've found your "thank you" restaurant!

Travis J.

Yelp
Perfectly cooked scallops were amazing. I was also impressed with the vegan/vegetarian menu as well. Great atmosphere for date night.
google avatar

Angela T.

Yelp
Definitely one of the best restaurants in Spokane! The food here is incredibly delicious without being overpriced. Every single thing on their menu is worth trying, but some of our favorites lately are the pork tenderloin, arancini, lettuce wraps, and bread pudding. All their cocktails are awesome; you really can't go wrong. The service is always top notch, and we love how it's a quieter crowd than some other spots downtown. We had our rehearsal dinner here and are so glad we did. Everyone had a wonderful experience all around.

Yelp
We went to Mizuna for Valentine's day and I had to give it 4/5 overall. The atmosphere: I was coming in with the idea that this place would be rather romantic, maybe semi dark lighting, and maybe filled with hidden nooks. When we walked in I felt a bit awkward because it seems i caught a lot of peoples eye. I assume that's because we had to walk past and through a lot of people eating dinner so that can be a bit distracting. We were sat in a side room but the sectioned out layout was less "hidden nook" and more, let's put you in this awkward table that will make you feel slightly on display. Our seats were decent but there were many seats that looked less comfortable. I will say that the ramp to go from one room to another was great for accessibility reasons however the length of the ramp created an illusion that could make someone trip if they weren't looking at it since it's a bit long. for all of these reasons i took off one star, now let's get into what i did like! *added* i forgot that another reason i took off a star was because the host referred to us as "ladies" which makes a statement about the inclusivity & assuming gender. Customer service: our waitress was super accommodating and kind. she checked on us a healthy amount and we never were waiting for her too long, even on a night like vday. she knew the bar menu well and it made the experience great from the moment we sat in our seats. Food/Drink: the food was very very good! i got the chicken and my partner got the seafood pasta, we both were so happy with our meals. the drinks were great too, but be careful, they were STRONG. (however, i did to dry January so maybe i'm just a light weight) Anywhoo, i took pictures of the menu because i noticed there aren't any recent pictures of the update prices since the rise of inflation so hope it helps someone pick a place for dinner.

Yelp
Back again to one of our favorite restaurants, I've heard some bad reviews about these scallops, so I wanted to try them for myself, but before I go there, we're going to dig into appetizers first. I got the ginger jalapeño crabcakes very savory and fresh with a little bit of cilantro. I love that tangy pop of the heat. My husband got the chicken and shiitake mushroom lettuce wraps. Those looked so good I had to try the chicken right away as it was put down beside me. I could smell that yummy teriyaki coming off of it. I also stole a couple of the mushrooms; they are so good don't tell anyone (Sorry, maybe you shouldn't sit so close) lol For a side salad, we got White cheddar and Apple salad was more on the bland side than the Grilled Ginger tofu. It had a sesame vinaigrette throughout, and was just god-sent so good I can go back there and order a large one, and I would be content. For entrées, My husband got the chicken. He said it was very juicy cooked perfectly; the Gorgonzola cream sauce that he got on the side was delicious. He was overall pretty impressed. Now finally, the scallops. I was hesitant about my first bite because of all the reviews lately that it's dry and grainy!! So there I was, cutting it in half, which I was pleasantly surprised that I got more than two scallops on my plate. I actually had five with a delicious rosemary risotto and chard asparagus. Anyways I was taking that bite into the scallop, waiting for this hard, grainy taste, and it was so perfect soft melted right your mouth amazing goodness one of the best scallops I've ever had I was so happy ordered this dish. // if you're ever in doubt, definitely order the scallops. They are great mouthwatering goodness. I don't know how I had room for some more food, so I got the crème brûlée which was good we always check that hardness to make sure it's there on the crust ;) Now my husband got the vegan carrot cake. I want to detail how it tasted because we had odd views on our table. So this is what I heard it's very wet, dense, moist, "healthy " we were trying to figure it out. Maybe they use a brown rice to make the cake and pineapple juice. It's a healthier take on a carrot cake, so don't expect your traditional sugar-filled cake that's not what you're going to get. My husband said he would definitely get it again. **Don't forget to ask for complimentary bread, olive oil, and balsamic They also have a very vast selection of wine and other alcoholic drinks

Yelp
Mizuna is amazing, and a great place to go if you have both Vegetarians & Omnivores in your group!

John S.

Yelp
Food was great, service was perfect and location is very nice. Appreciate that the server really knew the menu and wine list and was able to make helpful recommendations. One of the best restaurants in the Spokane area.
google avatar

Odulami B.

Yelp
Mizuna came highly recommended and was a high quality experience. Our host was very attentive and suggested a great table. It was a busy night and a few large groups raised the noise level but we were able to carry natural conversations. I sampled the bruschetta (great if you love the fish twist) and ordered the steak. The strak and sides were near perfect.
google avatar

Joe O.

Yelp
Wow! Portland food snob guy meets Spokane must eat at restaurant. The menu was delicious. I had the scallops with risotto and asparagus and it was amazing! The service and attentiveness were world class. Authena our waitress was the boss of all bosses. This lady is a 9 year veteran of Mizuna who knows how to Sing it! Bring it! And Fling it! She is a true craftsman of her trade. Highly recommend this establishment! Awesome place.
google avatar

Olena B.

Yelp
The place is lovely, however we ordered the salmon bruschetta, and the bread was super hard and super dry. It was difficult to bite into it. Which was sad since the salmon and the spread were just yummy.
google avatar

Sierra R.

Yelp
Really over priced for the quality and portions that we received. The lighting is way too dim, we could hardly see each other in the restaurant.

Brandon F.

Yelp
Real disappointment. Took my girl out for a treat on a Friday night. Reservation for Friday at 7 and walked into a restaurant that was more than half empty. Should have been my first clue. We had a lettuce wrap appetizer that was crazy salty. We chose entrees that we could share that were both pasta based. One was poor and one was pretty good (for Olive Garden.) Two star food at a five star price. Ambience was nice and service was good.

Yelp
This is the second time we have taken our team and their significant others to Spokane for training. Both trips we made one special dinner reservation to celebrate working together, both times here at Mizuna. The service is excellent and the food a home-run! Thank you for taking good care of us and facilitating a party of 13!
google avatar

Bri K.

Yelp
I've been here for date night and for several times for a work event/large group and every time has been amazing from the staff's wine recommendations to the delicious entrees. They have an entire vegetarian menu where most items can be veganized too. Definitely recommend you make a reservation and splurge a little on an evening here.
google avatar

Mari A.

Yelp
I celebrated my 10 year vegan anniversary here and I loved the whole experience. The staff was super friendly and helpful on picking drinks. The food was INCREDIBLE! I had the vegan Mac and cheese and I can happily say I've found the best Mac and cheese there is! It's a great place to have a fancy get together, they have options for everyone ! Also the prices live up to the quality of food, the flavors are rich and savory. I'll be coming back again, to taste more of their vegan desserts and dishes. Also a big shout out to Andrew who really made this dinning experience a memorable one !
google avatar

Amanda F.

Yelp
Had our rehearsal dinner here for our wedding and we return every anniversary. Great cocktails, appetizers, and plenty of vegetarian options.
google avatar

Jill S.

Yelp
We tried Mizuna for the first time almost exactly two years ago and weren't impressed. Because of so many great reviews we decided to give it another go this Valentine's Day, hoping we would have some different choices. Disappointingly, it appeared to be the same menu as it was two years ago. The bottom line is for the money, the food is good enough, but not great. I had the pork tenderloin, which I thought had too much black pepper. My hubby had the seafood linguine which he also thought was over spiced. The butter lettuce salad and ginger pear martini I had were both actually quite tasty. I wish I could say the same for the main courses with the $175 bill. Sadly, we won't be going back.
google avatar

Ryan Y.

Yelp
This place was amazing from the atmosphere, service to the food. It's a huge place with 3 dining rooms and outdoor dining. Meat/Cheese Platter was amazing with my favorite cheese; Manchego, Cambozola, and Humbolt Fog with fig and crackers. New York Strip was cooked perfectly and so tasty and tender. The gorgonzola potatoes and asparagus complemented the steak well. Rack of Lamb was cooked perfectly and tasty/tender as well. The orzo and asparagus were delicious as well. Creme Brulee was one of the best that I have ever had. The Affogato was delicious, if you are a coffee and biscotti fan. Humongous biscotti with two scoops of vanilla and a small tin of espresso. Yum! Must Go, if you are in Spokane!
google avatar

Mike K.

Yelp
The food was delicious, served hot and straight from the kitchen. Great wine, WillaKenzie Pinot, with the lingcod and scallops for our couple. Wait staff was wonderful (Laura). We had a great time having dinner at the bar in a beautiful and relaxed restaurant.
google avatar

Tom G.

Yelp
Food and service were excellent! We ate bouillabaisse and roasted chicken and they were delicious. Our waitress and all the servers were very friendly and efficient.
google avatar

Sean B.

Yelp
Food excellent! Ambiance is very, very nice. Service is spotty. Sometimes good, sometimes NOT. Sad. It can leave the customer dissatisfied in the end, even after a delicious meal.
google avatar

Sarah I.

Yelp
The menu was very different than the posts and reviews on yelp, so I heard the menu changes very frequently. I did go out of my way to come here because of the jalapeño crab cake appetizer. It was okay, not very good. I didn't eat all of it and it was the only thing I got because nothing else at the time interested me. The mustard sauce that came with it was very overwhelming for the crab cake. The waiters/ waitresses and atmosphere were nice. I don't need to come here for the crab cakes again. Maybe another dish.
google avatar

Lauren C.

Yelp
Such a creative restaurant! Their dishes are super thoughtful and delicious. Really nice atmosphere and good service. Highly recommend checking it out even if you don't typically eat vegan/vegetarian.
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
Had 7:15 reservations for 9 people. Got seated right away and the restaurant was half full. The biggest issue here was wait time for food. We ordered drinks and got them at a reasonable time, but didn't get bread until another half hour. Took awhile to order food and when we got the food, some of the food was inedible because it was so salty. We had everyone taste them and even the ones who normally eat salty couldn't eat it. We sent one back and got a replacement and the other we just took off the order. Other dishes were good - the salmon with wasabi aioli was moist and flavorful as were the scallops and pork tenderloins. The seafood bouillabaisse was good - not too tomato-ey and the seafood wasn't overcooked. They had a big party in the back and perhaps that contributed to the kitchen and service delays, but either they shouldn't accept more guests when they know they'll be short-staffed, or let guests know upfront that there will be delays.
google avatar

Daemon S.

Yelp
Nice quiet spot. Love the vibe. Super friendly service. Meatless meatloaf and fingerling potatoes may be the absolute most delicious thing I've tasted in life. On everything.
google avatar

Kristine B.

Yelp
Great menu, creative meals. gluten- and dairy-free options. An entire vegetarian menu available. Nice wines to complement excellent food. Servers handle food allergies very well!
google avatar

Mark G.

Yelp
Food was over salted and subpar quality. Salad came wilted and got sent back. Service was okay at best and not what you would expect from this place. Ambiance is maybe the only positive aspect of this place even though the table was so wobbly you couldn't put any weight on it without spilling the drink on it. I prefer good food and service over the "ambience" and this place really failed at everything. Try Luna on the south hill for the trifecta of a great restaurant that is comparable in cost.

Yelp
It's been a few years and I was interested to see how Mizuna has fared with everything that has happened over the last few years.. It doesn't seem like Mizuna has skipped a beat! Service for our group was fantastic. We were promptly seated and were well taken care of. Atmosphere, appetizers, food, etc was amazing. Just like how I remembered. From what our group said, I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu. It was great to see a restaurant being able to keep the quality of food and service, especially during these challenging times.
