Google
This restaurant is located inside the Westin which is to the left of the main Boston convention center. It’s an Irish pub and delivers on that. The food and drinks were good. I have been here for several conferences over the years. It’s well run abs a consistent place to eat when you are in this area. It does get busy depending on what conferences and events are in town.

Google
The salmon was exquisite, and the rice was prepared perfectly. My companions had the clam chowder and said it was delicious. The tables' only complaint was with the small number of steak tips that came as an additional charge with the Cesar salad. Considering the additional charge, we all agreed there should have been a greater quantity of steak than what was given.

Google
The food was delicious but the Pedro’s service the best! We visited Boston some days staying at Westin hotel. The restaurant is at the lobby next to the hotel bar.

Google
I initially thought this place was just another hotel bar but the food here truly hits the spot. Came here after checking out my room for a last minute brunch. My friends and I wanted one last taste of Boston and shared the Lamb Meatballs (I couldn’t resist and took a bite before taking a picture) and Lobster Rolls as a table. I do wish the meatballs were a bit larger. For my entree I had the Po Boy and a mimosa. The restaurant gives a lowkey vibe that would be good for both dinner and/ or lunch. Service was quick and we were lucky enough to be seated upon walk in. The place was packed!

Google
Had amazing food and staff went out of their way to make our experience special.

Google
A fine general purpose restaurant in the Westin Boston Seaport. Burgers, sandwiches, tacos, a steak, a couple of fish dishes, and of course the clam chowder and lobster roll. Come when it's not too busy, and you can chill out ar one of the tables by the windows and patio. Suitable if you didn't want to head to one of the many restaurants in the Seaport area.

Google
Not just another hotel restaurant. Award winning Clam Chowder and many delicious choices for small bites and entrees. Definitely recommend!

Google
Ended up eating here a lot during our stay, due to a friend having Celiacs and this place had a very accommodating menu. Everything I had was very good, with the beer battered fish and chips being the strongest. The cocktails were better then average as well. The best part was my friend was able to enjoy multiple meals out without suffering from their celiacs, which is S class service in my book.

Yelp
went to this location at inside the Weston hotel. 3 times so far before the Laugh Boston comedy show. the cobb salad with chicken and the house dressing is enough to make me go back evertime I'm there. not sure what is in the dressing but it is hand down the best salad ever. The burger has been cooked and delicious. all three burgers I've had. and don't get me started on that rum punch. absolutely perfect! this isn't just a simple Irish pub. it's amazing food.

Yelp
It's convenient when staying in the Westin. Service and food were average. Poutine was really not poutine - tater tots with a cheese sauce is not fries with cheese curds.
google avatar

Reshonda S.

Yelp
Well, the 3-star rating is right on point for the current overall rating for this restaurant. It's located inside of the Westin Hotel, therefore, it was a convenient option for lunch. The food was okay... the side salad was very bare; mainly just arugula. The wings tasted like warmed up grocery store wings. I didn't expect much but, for the price of the food $16-$40 for everything, they should offer better quality. The service was good. The waiters were friendly and quick. It's a nice bar environment.

Yelp
I wasn't particularly impressed with MJ O'Connor's. I ate lunch here one day during a conference and my salad without added protein and a water came to $25. I left over half of it behind because whatever vinaigrette they're making for the kiwi salad is so acidic, it burnt my mouth. Very disappointing overall.
google avatar

Yelp
Service was fast, burgers were cooked to order ( so hard to find these days). Plenty of tvs to watch the games. Short walk from our hotel. Would eat there again when in the area.

Yelp
The service was horrible. I waited 12 minutes to even get a glass of water. I ordered the honey chicken thigh sandwich. It was greasy and cold, so were the fries.

Yelp
This is a bar/restaurant that is attached to the Westin hotel. There is an entrance to it from the hotel lobby. When you walk in from this direction you go into what I guess is the back bar area. They have a nice bar area with tables and some booths and tvs to watch sports. And the front area of the bar has a bigger bar area with some more tvs and plenty of seating. I think there are a few outdoor tables too or only in the warmer months there may be. I did pick up and had a 20.00 voucher card since I was a guest at the hotel. No one told me and it did not say on the card that the voucher could not be used on take out orders. When I asked the guy if there was any possible way he said no but he would call someone, I guess his manager to ask and they also said no. I was pretty bummed. Oh well I guess I can use it next time I am in town. The food was your standard Irish bar/ restaurant type. I did not know what I was in the mood for so, I got mac and cheese with toasted ritz crackers on top, watermelon with feta, cucumber and basil salad and beer battered chicken tenders. The mac and cheese I liked the best. It was a bit cheesy, watery but it still tasted good. The salad had too much feta for my liking, not enough basil and the chicken tenders were very crispy which was fine with me as I think I asked for them to be but a bit too crispy and fried. I did not try anything else or have any drinks here. They have two locations of this place. I have not been to the other one before, but if I had to guess it would be like this one. I will say, it is not like you're missing out in much if you end up not being able to make it here to try this place out. But, if you are in this area of the seaport it's an on spot.

Yelp
Maria was such a cheery and wonderful server! Love that she was excited about us visiting Boston and made us feel welcome. Now on to the food ... this was the absolute best clam chowder I've ever had in my life. Peeled potatoes, clam was tender and the silky, yet hearty texture of the of the soup made me wish for a never ending bowl. MUST TRY this award wining bowl of chowder. Now for the burger; unfortunately the bourbon braised onions were unpalatably salty, and the burger was clearly medium rare and not cooked medium as requested. Once I removed the onions, the remainder of the burger was good but nothing can compare when sitting next to world famous chowder, that I will be back for. Thanks again, Maria!

Yelp
We were staying on property at the Westin Seaport and wanted a bite to eat. We ordered 2 cups of clam chowder and a cheeseburger. The food was tasty and their service was good. It's a great place for convenience when staying at the hotel.

Yelp
This place was delicious. The food was amazing. Service was great. The ambience was amazing. All the staff and waiters were very professional and friendly and very attentive to all your needs. Yes, I recommend this place.
google avatar

Roger C.

Yelp
Surprisingly really good food for a sports bar. I recommend the fish tacos, the short rib poutine and obviously a juicy burger. The place is next to the convention center so it can be quite busy during events
google avatar

Patrick G.

Yelp
I stopped in here today to grab a quick bite during a conference at the adjacent convention center. It was still the work day, so I abstained from any adult beverages, though the beer list was intriguing. I ordered the fish tacos and a bowl of the chowder. Both were excellent! The chowder had plenty of clams and none of the flour thickener too many places use to stretch their chowder. I loved the level of heat in the tacos--my lips are still burning a little bit!
google avatar

Isla S.

Yelp
I had a fantastic experience today. The service was impeccable and our server, Leo, was the goat and incredibly friendly. We ordered the pretzels as a starter and I must say, they were absolutely delicious. The waiting time was surprisingly short and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was comfortable and inviting. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great dining experience. (If anyone cares I wore a grey jacket to this location)
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped here for dinner after a conference. Put my name in to sit and was told a 20-minute wait. After maybe 5 minutes, we were able to be seated. The atmosphere was fair, with a kind of cabin cozy vibes. The waiter was quick to arrive, as was the food. The calamari was fair and arrived at almost room temperature. The meal arrived at a similar temperature. Even the dessert arrived at a similar temperature. However, it had a burnt flavoring to it. Both desserts tasted like they had been reheated multiple times, which was really disappointing.

Yelp
For those who don't know like us, this restaurant is part of the Westin Hotel. The 3rd time was the charm for us finding it and it was worth it. Blood Orange Margarita and Lychee Martini(I asked for him in mine). Yummy Boston Chopped Salad and Boston Lager Fish and Chips. Both were great. I would say the fish and chips could have had more fish for the price. The manager and staff were great and they gave us a free dessert for our anniversary.

Diva S.

Yelp
Mouse ran across my foot. Another across the floor opposite of me. I Literally ran out of the restaurant in mid-meal and waiting for the manager as I write this review....The manager apologized profusely and stated that the location has been experiencing an influx of rodent activity. Do with info what you will.
google avatar

Ry M.

Yelp
Great food, would recommend soft pretzels. The pretzels do only have 5 in each, so if you want more, it's a problem. Leo's the GOAT!! The food arrived at an average speed, and the people are nice. It's pretty quiet. I would recommend.
google avatar

Shammy S.

Yelp
The tartar sauce saves this from being a 2-star review. The clam chowder was tasty, but rubbery and an odd consistency. The fish and chips were ok, the fish was decent, but the frozen fries were garbage. The tartar sauce saved the dish! Also don't order a bowl of soup. We ordered a bowl and a cup... ate the cup, poured the bowl in the cup (take out portions) and the volume was 98% the same! Scam! We ate out because the main room was full and very loud. The staff handled the take out order well. Will be checking out other eateries while in Boston.

Yelp
Located inside the Westin Hotel. Nice Irish Pub atmosphere. We asked for a booth since our backs were sore from the five hour plane ride. Very accomodating with the request. We started off with the clam chowder. Great chowder with lots of clam bites and potato. It came with crackers, but sone sourdough with it would have been awesome. For our main we had the honey chili salmon and a pineapple salsa with fingerling potatoes and grilled asparagus. Nice size portions and big enough for two to split.
google avatar

Mahmut E.

Yelp
It is a bar type of restaurant, but they have good food, I tried their clam chowder soup, which was very good. I also tried their fish taco and chicken sandwich, they were also very good, service is a little slow, but food is very good and I recommend it.
google avatar

Yelp
We came here for a quick bite since we had coupons from our hotel. First off, this place was incredibly understaffed - I felt bad. There was one server working the whole restaurant for lunch time. Most people were at the bar, but it was hard to get a hold of the server. The inside is woody and warm like a true Irish pub. It has plenty of tvs for if you want to watch a game. I ordered the salmon tartare, and was disappointed when I was met with a stack of flavorless salmon. When the description read that it had soy sauce, I was hoping it was marinated in it - but it was just little pearls. I ate about 1/4 of it until I couldn't eat any more. My boyfriend got chicken tenders, which were good but nothing special. It was just a decent meal. Overall, it was an ok experience.

Fred T.

Yelp
Hmmm....well, won't go here again. Then again, leaving Boston tomorrow so we wouldn't be here anyway. The steak was mostly fat and VERY undercooked, the mashed potatoes were runny, the Mac and cheese with chicken was almost all Mac, with a small amount of cheese and I'm not sure if there was chicken even in it. And the kids pasta with marinara was really just pasta, no marinara sauce. Best part of the meal was the Sam Adams Red Brick, which they say is only available in Boston, but I can get it on tap in California. The lights are down so low we had to use our phones so we could actually see the food, which is maybe their tactic so you don't know what you're eating. The waitress was really good though...super nice and very attentive. So there's that. Come here for the waitress, not the food. My 2 cents...

Yelp
I landed in Boston on a Tuesday evening, and conveniently, this restaurant is situated in the hotel I was lodging. Upon check-in at the hotel, the concierge generously provided a coupon to dine at MJ O'Connor's. The restaurant gave a casual and bar/pub vibe. I ordered the clam chowder and the cheeseburger with fries. The clam chowder was warm, tasty, thick, and creamy as you would expect from a chowder. The cheeseburger was well-seasoned and tasty but the fries were cold and old. Service here was slow and the staff was not very attentive.
google avatar

Matthew B.

Yelp
Business lunch. Fish and chips were good. The main issue here was the very spotty service. It was not super busy and the wait staff- while friendly enough just couldn't t seem to get it anything in a timely manner or complete.
google avatar

Mandi F.

Yelp
MJ O'Connor's is located inside the Westin hotel. I came here for a conference and myself and my team swung in for three separate occasions. Now, normally hotel restaurants are pretty garbage imo. But we were really impressed with MJ. First, their mussels appetizer in a white wine sauce was fantastic. Their salmon caesar salad was also fantastic. Normally the dressing is too sauce-heavy, but it was nice and light here. Salmon was cooked to perfection as well. Their clam chowder was phenomenal. And finally their Boston cream pie was seriously the most amazing thing I've ever tasted... aside from Mike's Pastry's cannolis lol. Overall, this was a happy surprise for me.
google avatar

Joel E.

Yelp
Larger than I thought from the interior of the hotel. Stopped in for a convenient dinner while staying at the Westin. Loved the Watermelon salad! Needed something light, and it hit the spot. Had great service!
google avatar

Renee I.

Yelp
My review is based on carry out order. My friend and I didn't want to wait for a table so we ordered food and returned to our room. We both loved our meals. The beet and goat cheese salad is what she had but had them put shrimp on it too. I got the chicken caprese sandwich which was absolutely yummy. Mine came with fries which were so so and I got small house salad too. The folks at front desk were nice.
google avatar

Yelp
Ambiance - cool spot inside hotel Service - SUCKS!!!!! Food - just ok Drinks - ok, stupid cost 2 ppl 2 meals - Mac cheese with chicken 4 cocktails - jack/ coke $120 with tip I know it's a hotel but dang step up your game!
google avatar

Jill F.

Yelp
Service was fast. I tried the clam chowder. I was very disappointed. Less than 100 meters across the lobby you can get delicious clam chowder at the Birch Bar. This was definitely not it. Chewy ocean floor. Complete waste of $8.

Andréa K.

Yelp
Friendly bartender, tasty drinks. Their kitchen was closed, so we asked if we could bring in outside food. They said no, but we could order food & eat it in the lobby. So, we ordered drinks & a delivery pizza. When the pizza arrived, we went to the lobby. We ordered more drinks from the lobby bar and sat at the table O'Connor's said was okay to eat at. The GM came running over like we were smoking or fighting. He told us we couldn't eat in the lobby at all. We couldn't even have the pizza box open while we were waiting for our drinks. Our drinks came & we brought them to the room, which was the only place we were allowed to eat outside food. I can see if the kitchen was open, we wouldn't have even asked about outside food. But, it was closed. The restaurants should clarify the rules about food in the lobby. The GM looked like he was going to have a heart attack.

John M.

Yelp
You would expect a bar named MJ O'connor's in Boston to pour a good Guinness. It was a very disappointing bitter/not creamy Guinness. For TWELVE dollars.
google avatar

jamie h.

Yelp
We had a large party of seven after a comedy show and Constantine took amazing care of us. He was very attentive and cared with us with welcoming vibes. He presented the food with class and delectable dishes. We didn't have a single concern and he continued to check in to ensure amazing service. The service is what locked in our experience, and would highly suggest for a mid formal night out!
google avatar

Neil K.

Yelp
Clam Chowder is a must, pronounced flavor and plenty of clams. The crusted haddock fish on a bed of mini red/golden potatoes and topped with a cucumber relish. The relish wasn't a favorite but the fish was delicious and cooked perfectly. Service was spot on and the dining room is very small with a bar.
google avatar

Megan K.

Yelp
Sat at the bar and the service was slower than table service, which was slow on a busy night.
google avatar

Scott W.

Yelp
Nothing special but good beer. Nice little Irish pub inside the hotel that we stayed at, the Westin. Beer was cold, staff was friendly, place was neat and clean. Great hotel bar.
google avatar

Aneesa P.

Yelp
A group of 6 of us came here for a 9pm reservation on a Wednesday. We all had a vast difference in taste and I loved that they had Gluten free options. Our experience with our server was a bit odd. We had to ask 3 times for everyone to get water at the table. We all ordered alcoholic drinks and they strong which means you are getting your monies worth. Our server also let us know he needed to take his friend to the ER so he needed us to hurry up and sign our checks when they came. What an odd thing to say to put a bad taste in our mouths. What I can say is that the Steak was amazing and cooked to perfection. This was my last night in Boston and this meal was everything.

Yelp
Allow me to start this review by disclosing that I am a Buddhist and am spiritual. I don't write this to hurt, but to inform. The service here was not good at all. I waited over 7 mins for someone to touch my table and give me water but all the servers were having discussions in the area between the bar and the Point of Service machine. I had to hold my arm up for around 3 minutes looking straight at them for someone to give me water. The server all but rolled their eyes at me when I did this. However, I have autism and am persistent. I also got petty and took a picture as proof. (I will talk about this more with my therapist later). I was approached fairly quickly after my not so subtle gesture. A server soon appeared and, under the pretense of refilling my water, asked why I was taking pictures. I responded honestly saying that I am a blogger and am going to write a review on yelp. After that, for some peculiar reason, my service was impeccable. They made sure to refill my water and checked on me quite a few times. I also noticed that they stopped hanging around and actually started touching tables. The food was mediocre to average but I do acknowledge that I am a harsh critic as I used to work in kitchens. The food was delivered in a timely manner. I ordered the Cajun Shrimp. There was enough protein which is good and it did fill me up. However, it was less flavorful than expected. However, I noticed that the servers were VERY anxious to get me out of the establishment as fast as possible. I want to be clear that I am very political and as far left as you can go. Having worked in kitchens, I am also keenly aware of how hard it is to be a server. However, I believe you can have compassion for the overexploited as well as be aware of your duty to warn other potential consumers of a product that is not good. My suggestion is, if you would like good service at this establishment start taking pictures and say you're a food blogger, then they may actually be attentive to your needs. However, if you're looking for a restaurant that will give you good service without the additional hassle, then go elsewhere.

Marc M.

Yelp
The service was outstanding. Pam the bartender was fantastic. My real issue with my experience was for a bar/restaurant connected to a hotel, with higher prices than a stand alone establishment, you must serve real mashed potatoes and not potato pearls. The short rib was very tasty but when you get instant mashed potatoes, it ruins the dish. Real potatoes do not cost more or take too much extra time for any chef or prep hand to make. Please do not insult the customers with instant potatoes.

Yelp
I was in Boston for a couple days and this place was across the street from my hotel. I stopped in on the night that I flew in - it was late and I didn't want to go far. It was a solid Irish pub - I had a Jameson and a few food items... I started with clam chowder - It was GOOD, not great. My entrée was the oyster cracker-crusted cod - it was delicious... they had it sitting in a corn chowder too. After dinner I decided to get the chowder fries because YOLO and there was a good basketball game on at the bar - these were very unique and hit the spot. I'm sure there are many great pubs in Boston, but I enjoyed this one!
google avatar

Nando D.

Yelp
It was empty last night it was late night and the claim chowda was spectacular!!!! Also had their lobsta roll that thing also was delicious! I always stop by MJ's when in Boston. The staff is friendly they got a variety of beers on tap and not and lots of Irish whiskey and great selection for food! Try it out when you're at the Westin waterfront Great hotel as well!
google avatar

Gabby F.

Yelp
Really nice restaurant. Was very clean. The food was also great. I got the gyro and it was delicious. The falafel and tzatziki were amazing in it!

Sharon H.

Yelp
Food was OK. Service was terrible. We ordered wine and an appetizer. The appetizer came and we had to ask 10 minutes later for our drinks. We were off the entrance of the lobby in the hotel. Maybe if it were dark and wouldn't have noticed, but the paint was chipped off the walls and scraped off the booths. It made the place seem dumpy.

Larry B.

Yelp
Westin should create their own bar and restaurant and cater to their paying customers.
google avatar

Mary C.

Yelp
We stayed at the hotel for a convention. It was snowing out so we decided to stay in there was a short wait time to be seated. Overall the service was wonderful. Drinks were good. The food wasn't bad either.

Yelp
Was in Boston on a conference so of course I wanted seafood every dinner. I happened to go here as it was in wAlking distance from the hotel I was staying at. Don't know why we settled to eat there as our initial experience with the bar was slow . I asked the bartender for water , along with the drink I ordered, but he did not bring the water. The wait staff left much to be desired. Our water seemed rushed ( not a lot of people in restaurant) and disinterested. He came by and quickly dropped off our food, didn't ask if we needed anything. I ordered fish and chips--- not good at all. It was all greasy breading with about an inch width of flat fish . Sometimes a bar can help with disappointment, but , it seems very few bars in the area where we were staying , have Deep Eddy's grapefruit vodka to make a great sea breeze . I'm a bit biased, I'm from Texas. Later on I asked a Bostonian about the restaurant and they said they would never go there with all the other great restaurants that have fish. Well one bad meal out of the trip, but still it is one bad meal too many
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Service is extremely rushed. To the point where I feel like we are a bother to the wait staff. Food is just OK. And much like everything in Boston Seaport area...WAY over priced.
google avatar

Melanie B.

Yelp
My family dined here because the Westin gave us a stack of dining coupons. The ambiance is okay but the service is lacking. We were seated to a table that had just been wiped down and as a result, our arms and menus were wet. When our waiter came by to take our drink order, he began to put drink napkins down and I said to him, "the table is wet, could we wipe it down first?" Thinking, what good will wet napkins do? To which he sniped, "Yes, I know. That's because I just wiped it down." When none of us said anything, he took the drink napkins and wiped the wet table with them, complaining that the host wasn't supposed to seat us in his section and asked if we had asked to be seated right away or something. We had not so we offered to move tables but he said it was fine, even though it clearly was not. Later when he came to bring our drinks my husband was going to ask about the coupon from the hotel and before he could, the waiter preemptively told us we could only use one and told us what a disaster the coupons were for business. The food: For the price, it's just okay. I ordered the Lemon Caper Cod and it was just okay. My husband ordered a cob salad with salmon. Salmon is $12 extra. Take a look at the tiny portion for $12! We laughed but seriously, eat somewhere else!

Steven G.

Yelp
Clam chowder was ok fish and chips were also ok. All in all an acceptable place. Prices were a little high, but it's Boston.
