Mjolk is a wonderful store and easily one of the best furniture/object stores in Toronto. I have nothing but good things to say about the staff and how knowledgable and helpful they are. I am sure I have more pictures but I can't quite seem to find them right now. John and Frank are always a real pleasure to talk to and I can't believe I haven't reviewed this place yet. If you're looking for unique and amazing things, come here and take a look.

The best Home store in the city? I think so. Just visiting is uplifting and informative to me. The best in Japanese - Scandinavian - modern design . Absolutely beautiful furniture offered. I particularly like that the husband and wife team that curate / operate the shop hold strong to their aesthetic and design principals. Take your time browsing and take the time to notice the details, simplicity and functionality of the many items from Japan and other places.

Google
The most serene, well-designed place for design goods and furniture. The place is small but is set up like a mini gallery to display their Scandinavian and Japanese products. I wish I could shop here more often! The prices are in high-end tier but they're all for unique pieces that are great for special gifts.

Unique sophisticated design and decor store resembling an art gallery. Find rare objects sourced in Japan, Denmark, have custom made chairs and sofas and benches, original art of young Canadian artists.

Amazing pieces here. The prices reflect the quality and design that goes into each item. This isn't just furniture, it's art. If you get a chance, check it the spot! You'll be inspired and maybe you'll pick up a piece and your home will thank you. Also kudos to the staff; always helpful and there seems to be a genuine interest in what they carry.

Yelp
When we first step into MjoLK, it gives a museum vibe, or is it an art gallery? Everything was identified & labelled. Some pieces are one of a kind, while some are imported. John, the owner, kindly walked us through some of their items and their origin. Very interesting indeed. My heartbeat rate was slower, and the atmosphere was so relaxed to browse all the interesting things that were beautifully curated. This is the place if you love simplicity, Scandinavia, Japan or local timeless design.

Yelp
If you don't look at the price tags and have an appreciation for nice things with minimalistic, clean lines, this place is for you! At Mjolk, every turn is a lovely vignette. Unattainable, but lovely nonetheless. The only price tag I saw was a cushion for $300 and that was enough for me. It is obvious that everything here was carefully curated to suit a certain aesthetic. A unique blend of a Japanese exhibit at a museum and expensive Ikea! Probably the most stunning furniture store that I've stepped foot in.

Yelp
In some of my nighttime reveries, I am wearing dark slacks and a turtlenecked sweater of equivalent shade. I am reading Being and Nothingness through round spectacles. I turn my head. I am in my apartment, but it's not my apartment. It's a wonderfully spartan and minimalist space furnished with mid-century modern Scandinavian furniture. I pick up a glass of charcoal-filtered glacier water and with one ice cold sip, I wake up. While I don't really want to manifest this Teutonic wet dream in reality, if I had to I would come to Mjölk. It's full of sleek, über-designed, Nordic and Japanese inspired furniture and accessories. It's as maddeningly overpriced as it is gorgeous. A pair of "everyday" copper scissors will run you $80. A maple pencil case is $250. A fucking shoehorn runs $350. This isn't just a furniture store; it's a one-percenter bait shop. In waking life, I will not and cannot shop here. But in the throes of my umlautted dreams, I can be found lucidly sipping from a $75 coffee mug. Skål! Obligatory Title Pun: The MJOLK's on you. Menu Readability: Felt coasters: 6 for $28. Need to mention: They carry a line called Fjord Fiesta. LOL! ^_^ What this place teaches me about myself: I am way too brown to spend $145 on a toothpick case. But I can still covet it.

Yelp
I like ramen, I like Swedish meatballs. I like Muji, I like Ikea. I like sake, I like vodka. ...despite this, I wouldn't necessarily think of Japanese and Scandinavian aesthetics together. At Mjolk, however, they are a perfect pairing. The items for sale here range from the small (thimbles, small vases, scissors) to the large (carpet, furniture). Handmade leather iPad cases that just get better with age. Full-body sweaters that serve as a sophisticate's Snuggie. The owners, John and Juli, are clearly devoted design enthusiasts who network with, and travel to, many locations to source interesting things to add to the Mjolk-roster. In many ways, this dedication to the store and everything in it makes Mjolk feel like a gallery: everything is meticulously curated, everything has a place. I walk through the bright white space with a hushed voice, I look carefully, I touch gingerly. I love setting foot in the store but have only ever made one purchase: the items are pricey. Finely crafted, unique, with character, but...expensive nonetheless. A special store for special occasion purchases. Yelp note: I don't mind paying a premium for things with a story, things that show craftsmanship. To that end, I've really enjoyed reading the Mjolk blog that details store updates, travels, and local and cottage renos. A nice way to get to know local business owners and the philosophies behind their stores.

Yelp
Another phenomenal design and furniture shop in the junction. Run by a scando-wanna-be couple, the shop is a well picked collection of Scandinavian and Japanese pieces. The prices are fair and the pieces will last you 8 times longer than anything you pick up at Ikea. The design sensibility is one of the best in the city. And try to find a lovelier couple to chat with - I dare you! And if you're too cheap to buy any of their wares, check out their personal blog (http://kitkadesigntoronto.com/) and feel the inspiration there.

Yelp
I loved visiting this cool, trendy, fun, simple store. Yes, it's maybe over the top classy, clean, and has lots of things you don't need, at a price higher than you'd probably like to pay, but I liked how it celebrated good and interesting design with whimsy. I ended up buying only two notecards, even though I had my eye on other things - kitchenware, dishtowels, and a stool for my apartment. I also chatted with the shopkeepers who, while knew their stuff and seemed passionate about it, were friendly but unobtrusive. If I lived in Toronto, I'm sure I would have walked away with something hip for my apartment!

Yelp
I am not prone to hyperbole, but Mjölk is without a doubt the best design store in Toronto and probably Canada. The City and the Junction neighborhood where it is located are very fortunate to have them. This store not only has the best curated products, in my experience it is consistently less expensive then other high end design stores in Toronto like DWR, Hollace Cluny and Avenue Road (sometimes by thousands). What really sets Mjölk apart though are the people that work there. John, Juli and Frank (and others whose names I cannot recall) genuinely care about what they are doing and it shows. They are extremely well informed about the products they are selling. I gather that this comes from having visited the factories/workshops and meeting with the designers and producers of the goods they are selling. Indeed, there are a number of "Mjölk made" items that are available that they produce in collaboration with these same designers. The people at Mjölk are also very generous with their time and will answer your questions and discuss your needs (at length if required) to help you decide. They don't use high pressure tactics to sell you, they just want you to be happy with your purchase. I will also say that when you visit (and you should...often) the first thing you notice, besides the beautiful displays, is that it is a comfortable experience. This is not a stuffy or pretentious store where people feel the need to speak quietly or leave their children at home. I have read some of the other posts and I will simply say that I do not understand some of the comments (in particular James S. and Kent P). Mjolk is not Leons, the Brick or Ikea nor is it the Dollar Store. It is a premium design store selling very high quality furniture and other items at appropriate prices. The things they are selling are sometimes one of a kind, often made by hand and all created by world famous artisans and furniture makers. You wouldn't walk into a Rolls Royce dealership and complain that they were more expensive then the cars at the Hyundai dealership down the street would you? Such criticism suggests a lack of understanding about what it is that is being sold. With that all said, while some larger items are expensive, many other beautiful things they sell are very reasonably priced.

Yelp
This store renders me speechless. It's the designer, over the top, beautiful version of ikea. The art, the housewares, and the furniture make me drool. It's the kind of store where you catch yourself saying, oh wouldn't this look good in our living room, and then you remember you can't afford it and probably need to find the cheap knockoff at IKEA. The good thing about Mjolk is that there are affordable housewares and smaller pieces that would be great as gift for discerning others (or yourself). The staff is super friendly. The store is constantly being featured in design magazines and is worth a browse.

Yelp
Things are way to expensive. Might as well import your self or buy from Japan. They should of import Japanese customer service as well... terrible manners and no email replies when promised.

Yelp
My wife and I visited the junction last month on a Sunday afternoon and wandered into Mjolk. There were pieces we were interested in ,however no one acknowledged us during our 30 minutes there. Huge loss for them . The staff were too busy chatting among themselves . My wife is a designer, she is of both Japanese and Swedish background, we collect art and interesting furniture , but I hate it when I'm ignored by shop staff too busy posing, not cool at all . I too am a retailer in Toronto and can't believe how some businesses treat the people coming through their doors. Snobby is never hip. We wanted to buy and can certainly afford to, we were both so turned off by the attitude there that we just left empty handed. If the owner was there that day they dropped the ball. If they were away then they should remind the staff to greet people coming into their establishment and to ask them if they need any help. Bad retail experience.

Yelp
While I remained only a window shopper from Montreal - they were closed when we went by the store - what I saw through the glass was pure beauty. Along with that, when I emailed the owners from back home, to ask how they'd created those great white floors, they were generous and oh so kind about sharing their details. I sent more than one email, with continuing questions, and they continued to be gracious and forthcoming! Nice! Their blog is great too.

Yelp
This place even smells amazing. There is nothing in there that I don't wish I could take home with me. These guys have searched the world over and collected the coolest and smartest design pieces. Its like going to a museum but you can buy the collection. I like to stop by at least once a month for inspiration.

Yelp
beautiful space filled with one of a kind items. everything is placed with purpose, the interior is so thoughtfully designed and the selection is impeccably curated. i especially loved the candle holders, the modern oil lamps, and the tea and coffee serving sets - this store is filled with items that you will cherish and have for a lifetime. the owners were friendly and helpful and gave us suggestions for other places to visit in the city, which we really appreciated. since we were visiting from out of town, we found one special item that we really wanted but we are definitely looking forward to shopping from their online store in the future. mjolk is a toronto gem.
