MJ’s Cafe - Review - Nob Hill - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"MJ’s Cafe is a Nob Hill spot serving breakfast burritos, smashburgers, and fries. They also have espresso drinks and tea on hand." - Julia Chen

Have been waiting for MJs to open forever and so glad it is now! Went this morning and the breakfast burrito was delicious and so was the smashburger! Will definitely be back

Great to have another coffee & breakfast place in the neighborhood. Super nice folks and really enjoyed the breakfast burrito. Definitely get their hot sauce! As a coffee shop, it leaves something to be desired. There is a real lack of specialty coffee shops around here. The coffee was fine, but if they ever decide to offer something like a pour over or aeropress with a few coffees to choose from, I think they would find they have very little competition nearby.

See this place is awesome and excited for what it can become. When they get permits for outdoor tables it will be a great place to grab coffee and breakfast. The burrito was incredible and I can’t wait to come back to try the burger. $18 before tip for a small breakfast burrito is a little expensive even in 2025, and that’s my only knock.

Have been waiting for this placd to open since I moved to the area and was not disappointed! Tried a hazelnut and vanilla latte and they were amazing! Perfect milk to espresso ratio, not too milky or too sweet, just right! The sweet potato fries were also amazing. No seating but I usually like to take my coffee to go anyways!

It's great have another breakfast spot in the Nob Hill neighborhood! The breakfast burrito was delicious as was the flat white. The service was lovely, friendly and quick. Looking forward to trying some of the other food items next time.

Google
Absolute banger of a breakfast burrito in SF. Beats Il Canto Cafe, Tahona Mercado by a mile. A bit pricey at $18 before tax. Get the salsa on the side for an additional $0.65! Would love if they had a menu/website/instagram to follow along.

One of THE BEST breakfast burritos I’ve ever had in SF - quick and easy service, the staff couldn’t be any nicer. So wonderful to see such a great new spot opening in nob hill!

Yelp
Feels like I've been waiting for this place to open for years! I got the iced latte - it was very strong which I appreciate. For food I got the basic burrito and added bacon. I thought the size was perfect and it tasted amazing. I actually liked it better than other popular breakfast burritos in the city. I will say it's on the pricier side - I got an iced latte, cortado, and burrito which came out to about $30 before tip... but it all tasted great so.. worth it??!! Will be back!

Yelp
I was on my way to another place for lunch when I saw that MJ's Cafe was finally open! I've been waiting for them to open (what took so long?) and was excited to see the menu and interior. There's no seating, so everything is takeout. I got The Cure breakfast burrito with avocado, which came out to be roughly ~$21ish. That's the most I've paid for a breakfast burrito in SF! It's not the heftiest burrito, but I really liked the grilled tortilla, the hearty flavorful chorizo, and the spicy sauce. It's more avocado than other places give (but also, this is pricier than most.) Service was warm and efficient. They should get quite a bit of pedestrian traffic from the hospital across the street (as well as Trader Joe's a block away.) Will be back when I'm near Trader Joe's and I want a quick breakfast burrito, and to try some of their coffee drinks. It seemed pretty busy when I walked in--there was a small line, some people only got drinks and others got a breakfast burrito.

Yelp
We live near this place and have been watching them work on it for months--we were so happy to see they're finally open! We ordered an iced Americano and The Cure breakfast burrito. Both SO yummy. The burrito is the perfect size, nothing too big, and it tastes delicious. So excited to come back and try their Smash Burgers!

Yelp
I'm so happy that this spot finally opened! I stopped by to order an iced chai and it was so delicious. This is more of takeout place, so if you're looking for a cafe to work from this isn't it. The service was so quick and friendly-- between ordering and getting my drink was less than 3 minutes.

Yelp
I'm gonna go ahead and grab first Yelp review on this one. It seems like it has taken this place a few years to open but glad to have another option in the neighborhood. I remember the former Nob Hill Cafe well. The food was great and you could dine in the downstairs room. I think that family decided to retire. I think this is the first business to appear since and it has been years. Anyway it's a nice little place. The staff are super friendly. Pretty limited options with about 4 variations of a breakfast burrito and smash burgers. They have Ritual coffee which is good. It's not pourover but it's good. I did try a breakfast burrito and thought it was pretty good. Maybe not life changing but pretty good. It's a great location and with St. Francis across the street I think they'll have decent foot trafic. I wish there were a few tables to sit in but it's a take out only operation and the room downstairs is sadly being used for storage. It would be nice to see some more options on the menu but maybe that will come in time.

Yelp
Fantastic new addition to this neighborhood! I often come to this area for a client and always find myself wondering for something to eat and some good coffee...there's absolutely no good food around here I don't know why! There are some places around but the coffee is terrible and is lacking quality. So I went into this place with cero expectations. Boy! was I in for a flavor surprise! I ordered a burger, a breakfast burrito (with chicken sausage), a flat white, and a cappuccino. The place doesn't seem like much but the lady who took my order and made my coffee was very sweet and made delicious coffee. They serve Equator Coffee which is great! My food came out promptly and one of the cooks bagged it for me and smiled as he thanked me for my order. What a great little spot this is, everyone in there seemed so happy to be there. They had beautiful flowers and Day of the Dead decorations, some funky looking pumpkins, and great beats playing. It was a wonderful first experience and I'm so glad I decided to give it a try! I used to dread coming to this area for my client but now I'm actually looking forward to it so I can try something else on their menu.

Yelp
Great to see it open after years! Staff were so friendly and seemed excited to be open too! Coffee was great and prices are very well aligned with other offerings in the neighborhood. Will be back

Yelp
I live nearby and I have been waiting for this place to open for a while! I got a cold brew and a basic breakfast burrito with bacon. It was pretty good and I think it would be a great antidote to a hangover, but I don't think it's worth $16. With a cold brew, it came out to about $25 somehow, which I think is quite overpriced. They have lunch items and brew Equator Coffees, there's no seating, and I couldn't find any hours posted. Overall, I think it's a good addition to the neighborhood because we can use a coffee shop with actually good coffee.
