We stayed at this hotel for two nights and had a wonderful experience. The rooms were clean, beautiful, and well-equipped with a fridge, hairdryer, and iron—everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The beds were especially comfortable, ensuring a great night’s sleep. There was no kettle in room but you could go to the bar and request hot water, coffee and tea. Breakfast was a highlight; astonishing dining area , delicious food and varied options. The hotel’s location is also very convenient. It’s just a 10-minute walk from central train station and less than 5min to the old town. Definitely recommended staying in here and looking forward to coming back soon.

A lovely boutique hotel right in the middle of the old part of downtown. Very quirky decor but it really has its style. Incredibly friendly staff. Our room was among the smallest (the booking allows you to choose based on room size), facing the backstreet. It was cosy and comfortable, and I had a really good night’s sleep. The breakfast was really amazing, including the bread coming from next door’s specialty store Ruth’s. All in all, it is hard to ask for more!

From the moment we stepped into MJ’s, we knew we were somewhere special—but it was Room 202 that truly stole our hearts. The atmosphere felt more local and authentic than anywhere else we stayed in Sweden. With the French doors that opened above the main entrance, we had the perfect perch to watch the city’s rhythm—cobblestone streets alive with energy, laughter drifting up from the streets below. It felt like stepping into the past and the present all at once. I couldn't help but imagine my ancestors walking those very same streets 200 years ago. The room itself was enormous—airy, stylish, and welcoming. The bathroom was especially spacious, with clean lines and thoughtful touches. Even the flamingo that stared me down from its perch above the toilet made me laugh—it was quirky and memorable in the best way. Breakfast? Absolutely phenomenal. We still talk about it. The variety, quality, and presentation were on par with some of the best dining experiences we had on the entire trip. And the staff? So attentive, so warm—genuinely kind people who made us feel like we belonged there. Everything we needed was within walking distance—shops, restaurants, and beautiful little corners of the city. But truthfully, once we landed at MJ’s, we barely wanted to leave. Next time, Room 202 will be our base of operations for exploring more of Malmö and the Skåne countryside. Thank you, MJ’s, for making our trip unforgettable.

My wife and I stayed here for 1 night as we were visiting Malmö for 2 days after spending time in Copenhagen. If it wasn’t due to our itinerary, we would have stayed in this hotel longer. The staff were friendly and helpful and upgraded our room (not sure why but I wasn’t going to argue 😂!). Our room was perfect with a sleeping area and sitting area. It was clean and stocked with toiletries and had a good minibar. The bed was comfy and heating was easily adjustable. The bar area was lively and we’d been looking forward to a DJ playing but unfortunately he/she was not on that evening due to it being just after the Christmas period. However, there was music on and the bar had a good atmosphere. There are a number of restaurants and bars located nearby and the train station is also within walking distance. |My only area for improvement would be the breakfast. Although very tasty, it was basic, but it’s just personal opinion and there wasn’t anything wrong with it. All in all, I can’t fault MJ’s and I’d definitely stay here again.

This hotel has a quirky charm that I really enjoyed, and I’d definitely stay here again. My visit was brief, but the staff was friendly and postitive, and the room was absolutely adorable. They’ve added some fun, playful details that made me smile throughout my stay—don’t forget to check under the bed for monsters! The only downside was having to pre-schedule breakfast, which felt a bit restrictive for a more spontaneous trip. I ultimately opted out of breakfast to keep my plans flexible—not a huge deal, but it was an unusual policy. The only other place I’ve encountered something similar was at a high-end, five-star resort in Kyoto. If the breakfast is open to the public, perhaps setting aside some reserved tables for hotel guests would be a better solution?

No other hotel in this city has such an impeccably good vibe. The rooms are large and comfy, the included breakfast is great, the decor is quirky, the atmosphere is romantic. Simply the best hotel in Mälmo by far!

I had an extremely discouraging experience on what was otherwise a delightful time at MJ's. On May 24th, an unwell man approached me in a secluded wing of the hotel at the elevator, spat at me and said other awful remarks. I RAN to the lobby for fear of safety concerns and general security onsite. This man was NOT a guest of the property and the managing staff seemed relatively unbothered by my encounter and offered no reassurances for this type of dangerous person to not enter the building again. Even jokingly asking if he was with me? After I was clearly expressing a stranger had done this. As a solo female traveler this type of encounter is nerve-racking. The rest of the trip I felt unnerved and sadly diminished what was otherwise a beautiful stay in a wonderful hotel space. The key card access to lodging zones needs to be reevaluated as a baseline safety concern.

The floors were stained and it smelled like animal urine. Not sure if we ended up with a room that had dogs but it was the worst hotel I’ve been to traveling across country. I’m unsure how this hotel was rated so high or if it was just the room. But we will absolutely never be back. We had to wear socks just to walk around because of how absolutely disgusting it was.

Yelp
MJ's is cool, no doubt. We loved the vibe and the food. The downsides are that they don't have air conditioning, the lobby turns into a busy bar with DJ at night, and they have inappropriate sexual photos in the hall and rooms if you are bringing children. I would stay here again on a couple's outing. Not for families.

Yelp
If you want fun, colorful spaces, a hopping bar, cozy fireplace and softly glowing candles set to the sway of music, this could be your spot. We arrived on a Friday evening and the joint was jumping. It's a little confusing when you come in, because you enter into a bustling bar, people everywhere and then finally figure out that a small stand at the end of the bar is where to check in. There wasn't enough seating in the bar when we arrived, so we came back later. There is a restaurant around the back, as well as the elevators/ stairs to get to rooms. We did an upgraded room with the seating area, so it was huge with fun decor. Something I'd never seen before is the double doors. And I don't mean like French doors. I mean you unlock one door and then there is another door. Because out in the hall, there is often fairly loud music playing, so with both doors, and the rest of how it is designed, it's almost sound proof. You hear more through the windows than the door to the hall. I almost left 3 stars because of the bathroom. No curtain, it is a bathtub shower and so the floor and everywhere else seems to get wet. Also there is a fun flamingo in the bathroom on the counter, but he is bolted down, so it was a little in the way for a couple people trying to share counter space with all bathroom items. Nice enough staff, but we are also still trying to figure out about an unwarranted charge that we couldn't get figured out on our way out the door--especially since the early morning guy did not speak English. Everyone else seemed to.
