MLK Soul Food

Ordered from here because Carolina Kitchen doesn’t open on Sunday. I just kept laughing because I have NEVER in my life encountered bad SOUL FOOD until now. The yams had cinnamon and slimy stuff I have no idea what it was on top of the yams not being cooked throughly the Mac and cheese was no seasoning and it had so much grease it came through the bag. The cornbread was bland and it had no seasoning soul food is supposed to be full of seasoning. The carry chicken was okay but I will never get SOUL FOOD here again. Anyone who has had REAL SOUL FOOD know this is not it. Anybody that say this food is good is high as a kite especially if you know how good and addictive soul food is. This is not it!!!

Upon entry it was clean, staff was friendly and they had breakfast rolling. It was a little after 10am when we went in. (Breakfast ends at 11am) I ordered the french toast, turkey bacon and some over easy eggs. The eggs were good, I’m an over easy, sunny side up egg person. The turkey bacon was a lil on the tough side but decent, maybe because of the time I got there, but they gave me a lot so that was cool. The French toast was good as well. My man got scrambled eggs with cheese, the sausage patties and the waffles. His scrambled eggs were ok, they just had a lot of cheese in them and gave off a taste he wasn’t really feeling. The sausage patty gave school lunch, but it was ok. And the waffle was good, nice and soft. Overall they just opened so I’m sure once the foot traffic picks, some of the food won’t seem like it’s been sitting for a sec. Overall the food was good, we look forward to going back to see how lunch and dinner plays out.

Don’t come here if you have some where to be. They’ll forget your order multiple times. Waffles taste like cornbread. It’s other spots around. Go there. Atleast for breakfast. Haven’t tried lunch

Horrible. I ordered chicken, Mac & cheese and candy yams the chicken still has hairs on it so I know they didn’t clean it the yams have a weird after taste and didn’t taste very good and the Mac & cheese is soggy

Got salmon cake breakfast. Salmon cake needs some help. Mostly bread. Couldn't even taste the salmon. Had no flavor at all. Bread cake.

As of 8/16/2025 the food to me is no longer how it was when it originally opened. They changed owner ship and the original folks that owned it no longer do. Food has little to no seasoning. Will not be returning. Very displeased.

This was the worst food ever . Please be careful the food had a nasty taste like it was sitting out old. Then they gave some eggs I don’t eat as I don’t even want on my plate I asked for adjustments and did not get it. Quality is horrible will not eat there again

I order a bacon cheeseburger and fries! Fries was brown not like if you order regular fries. Bacon was turkey bacon 3 pieces wasn't cooked well sitting on the burger. Cheese was melted well. My burger sat on the counter for 15 mins before then to long fries came out. Burger no taste. Got combo so 1st time there. The server was pleasant like. How do you mess up fries and a burger. The dinners they give a lot for the high prices. But I'm not chancing to go back for that. Since my combo wasn't good. Was not pleased. I asked about a fish sandwich which was on the board. I was told we don't do fish sandwich. You can buy a fish dinner and get 2 sides. And make a fish sandwich 🤔 who say that to a customer. I should have walked out at that point. So I will not go back. Bad experience. Good Luck

I've been to this restaurant twice in the past week. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. They all Have amazing energy and truly make you feel welcomed. Ms Keisha is my absolute favorite. There are about 6 tables for you to dine in if you choose to. Both times I ordered my food to go. The restaurant is very clean... from the windows, door, floor, counter, etc. They have so many items to choose from whether you go for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Now the food!!!!! ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!! My first time I went I tried the pork ribs, Mac n cheese, and yams. The second time I tried the turkey wings, cabbage, and potato salad. I enjoyed it all!!!!! I told them they will be seeing me a lot more!

I tired this place twice to see if the food quality would improve and it did not. Sorry but they will not get any more of my money.

This place just opened. Good selection for breakfast lunch and dinner. Soul food, Caribbean food etc. I had the curry chicken (very good) steamed cabbage (excellent) and collard greens also very good. Also came with warm cornbread. I usually do not care for cornbread but this was delicious. A dinner serving was less than $20.00 and fed two people comfortably

The turkey wings are disgusting they taste old and are huge like they've been injected with hormones. I threw them in the garbage can. The MAC & CHEESE & COLLARD GREENS TASTE GREAT.
