Food was ready as soon as i pulled up, staff was nice and food is delicious. Ordering online was easy. Will definitely be back. My husband said this is way better than Hawaiian Bros ✨️

In town for work and got stoked when I saw Hawaiian food near me! Haven't had good Hawaiian food in a decade since leaving Las Vegas. This place did not disappoint and hit that decade long plate lunch craving! Teriyaki steak and chicken were on point! Not only was the food stellar, the people working here are fantastic! Everyone working was in a greag mood and genuinely looked happy to serve and take care of the guests! You dont have to be a 5 star restaurant to deliver 5 star service! Keep up the great work Mo' Bettahs! 🤙🤙🤙

This was our very first visit and the food was amazing. The worker at the front counter was very helpful and had some great recommendations. The food was very flavorful. The tonkatsu chicken was very crispy and delicious, the teriyaki chicken was very juicy and flavorful, the Kahlúa pork was also delicious. I highly recommend this place and give this place a try. If you are thinking about it, you will not be disappointed!

Surfed in to our 3rd KC location. Food was great as always. Inside decor was fine but like the other locations better and they have extra sauces on counter.Had AC on and was too cold, previous day was warmer but was not adjusted. Seemed understaffed and they ran so much it was probably right temp for workers but not diners. Bathrooms were very clean.

Google
i went here with my wife and daughter we ordered ekolu plate and double katsu and grilled chicken and 1 meat mininplate katsu chicken usually service and food here is good but this visit was bad i ordered at 715 and didnt recieve food until 745, and what made it worse was my grilled chicken on the ekolu plate was burnt and dry way over cooked, i dont get how youu can mess up boneless chicken breast, i dont know if the cook that night doesnt know correctly or what happened.

Google
Overall, the food was delicious and better than Hawaiian Bros, especially the macaroni salad. After ordering, the food got out relatively fast which makes this a good option for people who are time-strapped or need a meal in a hurry. The rice and the macaroni salad were delicious, but the meats were yummy also.

Mo’ Bettahs is hands down one of the best places to experience authentic Hawaiian food and genuine island hospitality! From the moment you walk in, you can feel the warmth and friendliness of the staff — they treat you like family, not just another customer. The food is absolutely amazing — fresh, flavorful, and cooked with real care. The teriyaki chicken is juicy and perfectly grilled, the kalua pig is smoky and tender, and the mac salad ties everything together just like it should. Every bite takes you straight to the islands!

Google
The food tasted very homemade, perfectly grilled meat and gave off the vibes that it was cooked on an open fire with nice charred edges. They also had plenty of different meat options like steak, 3 types of chicken and kalua pork (the only meat we didn’t try). The teriyaki chicken and steak was the best, and the pulehu chicken was also nice and garlicky. Get their spicy teriyaki sauce and katsu sauce with your platter. Their large cuts of meat were way better than Hawaiian bros, and their flavour profile was unique and distinct. I really liked the fresh cabbage slaw which cut down the richness and you could sub a nice fresh salad as one of your sides for a $1. I didn’t care for mac n cheese cos it just tasted like mayonnaise but I liked the carrots in it. Definitely get the spam musubi, it had a yummy glaze, the spam was perfectly cooked and the rice with furikake seasoning was amazing. Can’t wait to go back, the service was really good too.

Yelp
If you're craving authentic Hawaiian comfort food, this place is it! The flavors are fresh, hearty, and packed with aloha. The kalua pork was tender and smoky, Portions are generous, prices are fair, and everything feels homemade with love. The vibe is laid-back and welcoming--exactly what you'd expect from true Hawaiian hospitality. Staff was friendly and made sure we felt right at home. This is the kind of spot you'll crave again and again. Easily some of the best Hawaiian food I've had outside of Hawai'i! mahalo nui loa Da best in KC

Yelp
The food, the quick service! Plus the app now makes the sides customizable? I love it! Everything is always delish!!!

Yelp
Wasn't for me, found the meat to be under seasoned and almost flavorless. Prefer Hawaiian bros

Yelp
We absolutely love Hawaiian food and I was excited to try this place out. It left me a bit disappointed because the meat was very dry in the macaroni salad didn't have much taste. Maybe next time I could try different meats that maybe have a bit more seasoning or sauce added in before being served. I will say I felt like they did have a couple of good sauce options to choose from but other than that pretty tasteless.

Yelp
My family and I love this place! I found it while waiting for my car at the Tires Plus. The smell of the steak was amazing. I had Hawaiian food when I visited Kaua'i a few years ago, so I was excited about the option of having it here in my city. While the food here is not quite the variety I expected, what they make consistently tastes great. The building is smaller than expected, but always clean and well-kept. The staff always greets us with a smile and makes us feel welcome. One worry is that the building is usually empty when we come. I don't understand this since the food and service are excellent; I hope they can stay in business. The food does cost a bit more than some other "quick service" restaurants, but with it being such a unique flavor choice, I don't mind paying a little more. The cookies are also amazing and taste fantastic. You can pick up true Hawaiian canned drinks if you want and even Spam Musabi (I probably misspelled that) which is evidently a huge hit among Hawaiians.

Yelp
Hope you open one in Joplin soon. We would be there at least three to four times a week. We went to Kansas City again last week and went here again. It's really unreal his food. Out of all the choices in KC we keep going back here.
google avatar

Keri S.

Yelp
My new favorite go-to destination for quick, nutritious, full, and tasty meals! I've only ordered at the drive-through or on the door dash, but everything I've ordered has arrived warm and ready to eat. For the past three weeks, I've ordered either the mini - 2 choices or the normal - 2 choices. The same two choices: double Katsu Chicken with Mac Salad, White Rice, and Spicy Mayo. I have been pleased with the consistency of all of my orders, and it is safe to state that this combination of Mac salad, white rice, katsu chicken, and spicy mayo DOES NOT MISS!

Yelp
Went here for the first time. The selections were decent. The quantity of food is a good amount. I thought the food was tasteful. The best part of the visit was the attention shown to you by the employees. They definitely went out of thier way to make sure you had a good experience. Would recommend.

Yelp
My only advice? Don't change anything. I am from Washington, the place they "call" the birthplace of Teriyaki. I grew up on Toshi's Teriyaki and Toshi is considered the Godfather of Teriyaki. He is still around in the NW and I think his family started their business in the 50's. I'm not sure if Mo Betta's is familiar with Toshi's but it's almost like your food was modeled after them. This is some of the best Teriyaki I have ever eaten. We were in KC early in the week and by chance an ad for a BOGO popped up in my FB feed because of my vicinity. I clicked on it and thought what the heck, it probably won't be a good link anyway. It was. We finished our business in KC and headed to Overland Park. To say that we were happy we went is an understatement. It was off the charts good, the fellow who helped us was very friendly and professional (we were there on 10/14/25). The place was empty at around 4:00 PM so you gotta do some marketing. We got our order of chicken and steak plates to go and they were still fabulous when we got home. I wish I took some pictures (I normally do) but it was so good we tore into it. Please keep things the same and get the word out! We need you down south near Joplin!

Yelp
We liked it, didn't love it. Fabulous service though! We'll probably come back here & give them another chance. We just thought the food was kind of bland and boring. Hawaiian Bros will continue to be our go-to for this kind of food, although I can't stand their macaroni salad. Mo'Bettahs is slightly 'bettah,' but too much mayo for my taste.

Richard G.

Yelp
Blah food with little included. Can't follow a simple request for silverware. Never again.

Yelp
I prefer Mo' Bettahs over Hawaiian Bros. The meat has the right amount of sweetness and very tasty. And the portion is much bigger. I usually go to the Lee Summit location. But this one is much closer to home. We did drive-thru around 9:00pm tonight. And I am not sure if it was near closing time, but the food was a disappointment. Rice was hard and very dry. We asked for both teriyaki and spicy mayo. But we only got spicy mayo. Also, menu has $1.00 extra for steak. But we were charged $1.50. Maybe just a bad experience tonight. I will be back. But I hope we will get teriyaki sauce and soft puffy rice on our next visit.

Yelp
So happy to have a Mo Bettahs open up here. I had the pleasure of stopping by after waiting weeks for them to open and they were actually giving away food for their soft opening. Totally awesome experience. I had been to a Mo Bettahs in Utah years ago and it is still as good as I remember. I got the teriyaki chicken. Chicken is cooked perfectly the rice and Mac salad were tasty. Staff were super friendly. I went back a few days later and bought lunch for my whole team at work so they could try it too. And the staff were great when I ordered 10 meals to go. The kalua pig is very good nice smoky flavor. I know hawaiian bros is popular in this area but they don't compare to Mo Bettahs authenticity of Island food. I just wish they had more dishes like Loco moco or spam masubis.

Yelp
I enjoyed the delicious pake salad during my dine-in lunch at this new Hawaiian restaurant. The pake salad ($9.49 with my choice of six meats and choice of six dressings) was brought to my table just five minutes after I ordered at the counter, where the service was pleasant but very soft-spoken. Normally that would have been fine, but there was some revelry coming from the kitchen in front of me and loud background music coming from the dining area behind me. The salad was served in a nicely sized 7" x 2" bowl with a good portion of extremely flavorful pulehu grilled chicken strips. They were moist, seasoned and packed full of smoky flavor - nice! I liked that the they offered a meat without a sauce. The salad included wonton strips and a good variety of very fresh veggies. I also liked the Oriental dressing I selected. I found the dining area to be clean and new with Hawaiian background music (a notch or two too loud). They also offer a drive-thru. Overall, very good.

Yelp
This is a DRIVETHRU review, so maybe little different. I have given a review for Mo' Bettahs before, but thought beneficial, since food can be presented completely different I thought pertinent. Here goes... I ordered the Mini, with teriyaki chicken, Kahula Pig, cold macaroni salad, slaw and rice, which is a decent amount of food for your average appetite (and more than I could eat in one sitting). Portions were exactly the same as if I had dined in and all was just as delicious! Hawaiian Bros or Mo' Bettahs? Hands down, with this freshness and taste, we all know the "Mo' Bettah" choice!

Yelp
Today is their last soft opening day so I hauled my but down to try this place out. They were giving out a basic plate with Kailua Pork, Teriyaki Chicken, rice and Mac Salad. Everything is delicious. The pork reminds me of my time stationed in Hawaii and the teriyaki chicken is very VERY good, like run through traffic good, lol. They give you a small ramiken of sauce and it's also tasty. The Mac salad is very good, very creamy. I'm so glad that we have some great restaurants with a Hawaiian flavor in KC!!! I WILL BE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(do I have enough exclamation points here?)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
In early May FPO read about a Hawaiian-style restaurant coming to Kansas "soon". About a month and half ago I passed by the sign for Mo' Bettahs on 75th on my way to an appointment and I've been stalking it ever since, watching for any signs of life. Yesterday on Yelp I finally saw it, in beautiful green letters "Open" on their profile. This evening FPO and I were running errands and took the long way home just so we could drive by Mo' Bettahs and see if it was true. As we drove into the parking lot I told FPO, "That guy in the green shirt looks local." As it turns out, I spotted Kimo, one of the owners. He and his brother, Kalani are two local boys from Kaneohe who moved to Utah and opened Mo' Bettahs Hawaiian Style Food in 2008. Fourteen years, thirty-plus locations, and five states later they're bring an authentic taste of the Aloha State to the mainland. While other "Hawaiian inspired" restaurants who shall remain nameless just cause me to shake my head, Mo' Bettahs actually makes me feel like I just left the beach, sand still stuck between my toes, and stopped off for a plate lunch. This food is real local style food. If you're in Kansas and missing local Hawaiian food, you gotta come here. We tried their kalua pig, the pulehu chicken, teri steak, the chicken katsu ... it's almost like being in Hawaii again. Since they're still in their soft opening, not all menu items are available yet but there's a shrimp tempura with my name on it coming soon. I also heard a rumor about a chili with Portuguese sausage coming this winter. Ono you know. All that's missing is a Malasadamobile in the parking lot. Or maybe da braddahs can look into a good malasada recipe and another deep fryer in the kitchen? I can dream.

Yelp
While not extremely familiar with Hawaiian style food, I saw the branding for this one day and knew I needed to try it sure enough fast forward and here I am after a hearty meal with some other people, we both had teriyaki steak with teriyaki chicken and chicken Katsu individually. All I can say is wow! The service was friendly, quick and prompt, the servings and portions are extremely generous, and most importantly it is dang good! I loved the sauces and the rice and the meat was very well seasoned and marinated. My one schtick with it would be that I wish the steak was more tender, maybe instead of bing chunks you can braise it or slow cook it/ slice it thinly to get rid of the chew? But other than that it was an awesome meal! Can't wait to come back soon!

Yelp
We have been eating at the competition since it is closer to our house. This is my first time eating at this restaurant, and I would like to compare and contrast the two a little bit more in depth. The competition serves very similar items. A choice of meat... Chicken or pork and a teriyaki sauce with different levels of heat. This restaurant has a few more options for meat. There is a grilled and a fried chicken option, a beef option, a pork option and a tempura shrimp option. Both restaurants serve rice and macaroni salad. Mo' Bettahs salad has grated carrots so it has a bit more texture to it. As well, the food is served on a base of shredded cabbage. I love the sweet teriyaki sauce, but at this restaurant it is served on the side. I don't have a problem with the sauce but that could make it a bit easier to eat a bit healthier at this restaurant esp those trying to avoid sugar. HB has their famous Dole whip. Mo's had cups of mini cookies that you could share with your group (or not). Conclusion? I like both places a lot.

Yelp
We went through the Mo' Bettahs drive-thru while we were visiting Kansas City and unfortunately something was going on and it took 25 minutes to get our food! We had tired, hungry kiddos that were crying and cranky, so this wasn't ideal. They tried to give bounce backs to redeem themselves on another visit, but we don't live there, so it wouldn't work for us. They did end up giving us cookies for the kids. However, the food itself was pretty tasty if you like Hawaiian plate meals. It definitely hit the spot once the food did come. I loved their mac salad! I would give them another shot because of how tasty it is (and convenient if the drive-thru is working properly). I'm sure we'll be back on another visit to KC!

Yelp
Me and my husband went here for the first time today. We didn't eat in. They have an option to order and pick up. That's what we did, so we didn't have to wait long to get our food. It was ready when we got there. Food was good. I wasn't a fan of the Katsu chicken but my husband loved it. I really liked the Teri steak, tempura shrimp, and the Teri chicken. All meals come with rice and shredded cabbage. I wasn't a real fan of the shredded cabbage as there's nothing on it, but I guess you could put one of the sauces on it. Meals come with choice of macaroni or tossed salad. All in all I think it's worth going back.

Ronnie G.

Yelp
I enjoy eating there on 75th Street Kansas City Kansas Johnson county always great service fast and the food is cooked well done I particularly like that for safety and health reasons. Seems every time I go in there they switch up cruise but they're all good employees fast and clean I recommend it to all my friends. I wish they would put one downtown Kansas City Missouri before they put the new part over the highway or even after. Great service good job well done five stars for me. Especially if I drive all the way from downtown Kansas City to overland Park.

Yelp
Husband and I stopped by to check this place out and we really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is nice, and inviting and so were the employees. We got a mini and a regular meal with teriyaki chicken/teriyaki steak and both of us had to get katsu chicken. All the meat was delicious but my fav was the katsu chicken. The katsu sauce wasn't really my thing but my husband loved it, said it tasted like ketchup with Worcestershire sauce. The rice was delicious and the pasta salad was good. If you compare this place with HB the salad is more Mayo flavored. Portions were good and price was good too. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Stopped in here thinking it's a competing, but similarly themed place, comparable to Hawaiian Bros. That thought ended very quickly. This used to be a Long John Silver's. And I've gotta give the people who did the renovation props, because they turned this building around and got it open quickly. The parking lot didn't really feel any different and the store footprint essentially remained the same. The food? Not good. Instead of being bite sized pieces of chicken with a healthy coating of tasty sauce, you get flat chunks of chicken cooked in large pieces with a scant amount of sauce to be found. So problem #1: Bring a knife to the meal or you'll be dining caveman style. Problem #2: A knife was not included in my bag, so I had to attempt to eat it in the aforementioned caveman style. Problem #3: The chicken did not taste good. Problem #4: The teriyaki sauce also just didn't taste good. It was bad enough that after 2-3 bites, I threw the rest away. Problem #5: It was slightly more expensive than Hawaiian Bros. So also not a value. So why 2 stars vs 1? It's theoretically possible that this actually is somebody's jam. I don't know who that person is or what planet they came from, but there's somebody out here who would like this... it's just not me. If your options are this or Panda Express next door, my guess is a large majority of people would prefer Panda Express.

Yelp
This location is near my work so was intrigued to try another Hawaiian style cuisine. Mo' Bettahs offers different entrees than their competitor and is definitely different in a good way. I got the Pulehu chicken & Teri steak mini with brown rice and macaroni. Cashier recommended the sauce on the side which was an excellent idea. Both of the meats were very tender and moist and with the sauce on the side I could taste both sauces on each meat. The pulehu sauce were tangy, sweet and savory and was my fav. The teriyaki was sticky but not really an unusual teri sauce. I usually eat only half of my entree when I eat out but this was a small enough size to devour it all. I wish they would offer another non carb side but maybe that will happen soon.

Tyga M.

Yelp
So this might be sacrilege to say around here, but I like this place much more than it's well-known competitor. The meats aren't as salty, and you can amp up or tone down how much sauce you have on your meat. The katsu chicken was tender and crispy (mine was dark meat), and the chopped up pieces of beef weren't so fine that it became tough to chew. I appreciated the meats the most, but I also like that I get two different meats (or can double up on one) and that some semblance of veggies (shredded cabbage) comes with any given dish. The price is reasonable - the "mini" is right under $10, and that still comes with a nice amount of food. The service sitting inside was friendly, but not as prompt as it seemingly was at their drive-thru. Once ordered, the food was delivered to us in 5-10 minutes. All in all, if I'm choosing where to get Hawaiian food in the metro, this is my spot.

Yelp
(8th review of 2022) YEEESSSS!!! CHEEHOO!!!! THEY'RE OPEN!!! (well, yesterday was a soft opening) Now THIS place is jus like the local plate lunch & backyard BBQs we have back at home! Reminds me of the times after going to the beach & getting a plate lunch somewhere. You want really great local plate lunches from Hawaii, come here! If you're missing home (like I am), you definitely want to come here!! Tastes jus like home!!! We were running errands yesterday & was jonzin for some good local food from home. We've been stalking this place since we heard there was a new competition for Hawaiian Bros coming to town. Mo'Bettahs is definitely mo'bettahs than HB!! Mo'Bettahs is near the corner of 75th & Metcalf, right across the street from CVS with their own dedicated parking lot. I think Price Choppers has the same parking lot. Anyways, we stopped by after wifey saw that they were open on Yelp. When we pulled into the parking lot, wifey saw a guy in a green aloha shirt & said "That guy in the green shirt looks local". Come to find out, it was Kimo in the green shirt we saw. We met Kimo & Kalani (the owners) out front & walaau (va la au = talkin long time) about home, reminiscing about our ohana (family), & other local stuff. They invited us in to try out the foods they insisted were as close to home as they could get being in the mainland. They weren't jus "close to home", the food was jus like home!! They use Aloha Shoyu from home in their marinades & sauces. That's the best kine shoyu (or as mainland calls it, soy sauce) any local would agree to. (PS. we found Aloha Shoyu & other local stuff at 888 International Market on 119th St.) Ok ok, back to Mo'Bettahs. Inside is clean & employees are very nice & polite with the Aloha spirit. We saw canvas photos of places/people from home along with surfboards from home too! Go figure, they even had a wall in the middle of the dining room with jalousies!! I cracked up laughing cause all us locals remember those from childhood days. Remember when we'd sneak back into the house by removing them & climb into the window cause we know it's past curfew? Ohhh the good ol days. Then remember when you'd get caught by dad cause he was sitting on your bed waiting up for you? BUSTED!!! Hahahaha!!!! Hey! They even had POG & Hawaiian Sun drinks (they didn't have jus yet) along with the typical soda fountain drinks. Now for the food! Yesterday, they only had the mini plate lunches & could do combos so you could taste different dishes. I got the Teri Chicken & Chicken Katsu, then the Pulehu Chicken & Kalua Pig, then the Teri Steak 2x. They didn't have the Shrimp Tempura jus yet. Gotta go back for that. The Teri Chicken has a subtle teri flavor (not overly saucy like HB) & jus the right amount of char on the outside from the hibachi (local style grill). The Chicken Katsu has a thin panko crust & the chicken thigh was kinda thick, but cooked all the way thru. The Pulehu Chicken is seasoned with black pepper, sea salt, & garlic then grilled to perfection. Reminds me of grilled huli huli chicken. Of course huli huli chicken is jus rotisserie chicken over keawe (ke a ve) wood that you'd find all over the place at home. There's typically no sauce to real huli huli chicken. Anyways, the Kalua Pig is slow smoked salted pork for over 10 hours... then perfection has been made!! The Teri Steak is marinated in their very own teriyaki sauce, grilled, & then thinly sliced (super tender). Each mini plate lunch starts at $9.59 w/ 2 meat choices, 1 scoop mac salad, & 1 scoop white rice. You can also sub the white rice for brown rice or tossed salad (+ $0.75). The regular plate starts at $13.59 w/ 2 meat choices, 1 scoop mac salad, & 2 scoops rice. The Ekolu is if you so hungry & can't decide on which meats you want. It has 3 choice meats, 1 scoop mac salad, 2 scoop rice. The portion sizes is jus like home... choke (plenty) food!!! You'd definitely have leftovers if your eyes are bigger than your opu (stomach). They also do catering... ie. they have a Group Meal (serves 25) for $249.75 & you get 2 choice meats, white rice, mac salad, & comes with plates, cutlery packets, & sauces. More bang for your buck! They also have the Ohana Meal (feeds 4-6), Box Lunch, & A La Carte. Check out the QR code on the take out menu for more info & check out their website. This is definitely a must for anyone that's been to Hawaii or lived there! This is jus like home!! Now all they need is a Malasadamobile in the parking lot... you know the one with the white & red stripes? Hehehe... I wonder if we can get them up here. Either them or Kamehameha Bakery from Kalihi. MAHALO NUI LOA & A HUI HOU!!!!

Yelp
It's game on. Mo Bettah situated themselves right across from Haiwaiian Bros for a direct comparison. Although I actually don't think there's any other Hawaiian style food here. Mo Bettah's offers chicken katsu, their marinade isn't overly sweet, and the chicken had the char flavor which I enjoyed. On the other hand, their pulehu (chicken with salt, pepper, garlic) was pretty flavorless, the steak was a bit tough, and katsu didn't have the crisp that I wished it had. Plus, they don't have spam musubi?! I totally thought spam is a staple of Hawaiian food. I might have enjoyed it a tiny bit more than Hawaiian bros since I don't like overly sauced, overly marinated meat but I still my Hawaiian food that I used to get in California. Four star because we are in Kansas but would be a three star if I compared it to LA options.

Yelp
My new favorite spot. Move over Hawaiian Bros! I tried the Teri Chicken and the Katsu chicken. Both were very well prepared. The cabbage blended well with the teri sauce and the rice. Love this spot!

Josue E.

Yelp
I think Hawaiian Bros is Mo'Bettahs. All jokes aside compared to HBs, the many different options here at MBs don't make up for the for the lack of flavor. The food at HBs is not only more fresh and hot when your order is ready, but the service difference is very noticeable. HBs service is nothing short of excellent. I'm not saying MBs is bad or horrible by any means. It's just simply ok. There isn't anything special or unique to want to choose it over Hawaiian Bros.

Yelp
Over the top best service I've had ever, so accommodating that I had to actually leave a review! Jake the manager and his team had high energy and amazing service

Yelp
Hubby and I were pleasantly surprised when we heard Mo Bettah's was coming to KC. Here are some takeaways from this afternoon's visit: Location: It is right across the street from Hawaiian Bros. MB is in the parking lot adjacent to Price Chopper, which is a confusing cluster because the parking lot for Price Chopper was crowded, which created a tiny bottleneck. Customer Service: We did not dine in due to time constraints but the person taking our order was courteous. The drive-thru line moved quickly, and I was surprised it wasn't more crowded on a Saturday during the lunch rush. Prices/food quality: Mo Bettah's is a touch more expensive than HB's. MB has a higher quality of food but we found it lacked flavor. The thing about HB's is they drown their food in sauce-which can be off-putting for some. MB does not provide enough flavor. I found my meal to be quite dry and I did not care for the sauce that came with the tempura shrimp and katsu chicken. My meal was mid at best. Overall, it was not terrible but I prefer HB over MB. I wasn't impressed with the flavor of the food but I appreciated how tender the chicken was. I'm unsure if I will try again.

Yelp
mo Bettah than Hawaiian bros!! Local Hawaiian girl here so if you're looking for legit local Hawaiian food this is the place! You know how I know the place had real local food? Cuz it taste local you loco. On the real, the pulehi chicken reminds me of our backyard bbq, the Kalua pork you know is local not just from the smoke taste but they put cabbage underneath! AND get this...the mac salad..don't mean to disappoint you folks that are used to the mainland mac salad but the Hawaiian style has carrots n sometimes peas and sometimes potatoes n Hawaiian bros taste Haole and no mo any veggie. I got mine to go and opened it in the car, I saw it n couldn't wait so I ate half my plate in the parking lot haha.

Yelp
Very yummy, fast with service, and one of my favorite chicken to eat (Teri chicken). It's so juicy and really has the grill flavor that I love from here. Perfect for post workout meals.

Yelp
I'm in Kansas City for work and figured I'd try something different. So I picked Mo' Bettahs, and man am I happy I did. The Teri chicken was amazing along with the macaroni salad delicious. I also tried the Spam musubi. 2 thumbs up there. I door dashed so I wasn't able to check the location out, but definitely will be stopping in while I'm here

Yelp
I usually get the steak and shrimp or garlic chicken and musabi. Boyfriend usually has chicken and pork. We always like to eat Mo' Bettajs' take out. The steak and chicken is seasoned well and cooked nicely. The staff is always nice and helpful when offering service and recommendations. The lobby is clean and inviting with cute surf boards and decorations. The temperature of lobby is good.

Yelp
First time having Mo' Bettahs and very glad I chose it! The Teriyaki Chicken tastes like it was just pulled off the grill in the backyard and the Kalua Pig is so juicy and falls apart. I got sauces but I don't need them because everything is so flavorful and fresh! I was through the drive thru in minutes and the price equals the value!

Yelp
Haven't even finished my food yet and I want to share how amazing this place is. We moved to MO from HI last year (my wife is mixed Hawaiian, I'm mixed Samoan) and walking into this place makes us feel like we're back home again When you're this far away from Hawaii, when you see a 'Hawaiian' food place open up, we're always skeptical that the place is just gonna put pineapple on the food and label it Hawaiian To all you local and poly people, trust and believe this place is legit. This is gonna sound so dramas but we got a little emotional when eating the Kalua pork (tastes like it came straight from the imu) and Mac salad--it's the real thing and it felt like we were back home enjoying a plate lunch. Portions are big too--true local style! Mahalo nui loa for keeping Hawaiian and local flavors authentic!! Would not be disappointed if you added more local dishes to the menu

Yelp
Good food. Consistent and straight forward. Great place to get your proteins guilt free. Mac is better at HB buuuuut the proteins are much more clean and not drenched in sauce, PLUS they have Katsu chicken, which is legit. Servings are huge, but weighed. My only complaint is the one time I eat in-store they are blasting music while a female grills and grooves out, but the company music is still playing? It was audio chaos. People were great but it was a bit much.

Yelp
Love the Katsu chicken so much, this location always has the best macaroni salad! If you're looking for something yummy that feels good on your stomach this is definitely it.

Yelp
I'd rather take the drive to the Olathe location. The chicken tasted dirty. It tasted like it was cooked on an ash covered grill. I spent 30$ on 2 classic plates w teriyaki and pulehu chicken and when I just couldn't stand the charred chicken crunching any longer I had to throw it away. The rice tasted like it was old/undercooked. The macaroni salad was average. The only thing I was able to eat. The service was neither bad nor great.

Yelp
They definitely employee A LOT of people that get the job done fast with your order. Me and my wife got darn near the whole menu and it didn't take long at all. Now in comparison to the ono grindz of Hawaii it's a tough comparison but honestly it does beat a lot of places you'll typically see in Hawaii especially in touristy areas. If you want a taste of Hawaii this is a good spot without the flight needed.

Yelp
It depends on what you want to compare it to: McDonalds? Panda Express? I didn't get out of the office until late for lunch, it was a little after 3pm. The place used to be a KFC, they've cleaned it nicely up since the KFC failed. It was empty, but it was such an odd hour, that's to be expected. They really ought to have some different policies, I must have stood there at the front counter for at least a minute or so before anyone appeared. The place looked very clean, but I saw a pile of chicken katsu under a heat lamp. I got a mini with ....chicken katsu (I shouldn't have) and pulehu chicken. The chicken katsu was like jerky. Chicken breast just cannot be precooked and left to sit. It was very dry. The Pulehu was just fine, juicy with grilled flavor. The condiment sauces one like teriyaki and the other like a kicked-up ketchup are fine as well. Its accompanied with macaroni salad AND rice. If you eat it all, it's pretty carb heavy and the steamed rice is pretty bland. It's also probably a little leaner than fast food. Had I chosen the steak, teriyaki chicken or pork instead of the fried katsu it would have been a meal of a large portion of quality protein. It's about 10 bucks for a mini and if the portions of chicken are that large during the lunch rush, that part is a great value. A plate at Panda Express is about the same. A Big Mac meal is about 50 cents less. The unforgivable thing about Mo'Betta is the nearly 3 bucks for a drink: 2.60!!! That takes the food from a great value to a lousy value. Who wants a meal without a drink, but who wants to pay 2.60 when it's a lousy dollar at McDonalds? The other thing that prevents Mo'Betta's from being a real meal is that there isn't anything resembling a vegetable with the plate meals. At Panda you can get a huge serving of vegetables instead of rice. It's a shame that they're trying to bolster profits that much with a giant margin on a lousy soda. With a cheap drink, this would be my go to to avoid McDonalds or Burger King. A vegetable medley or something like that might not be traditional with this type of food, but that would also make it far and away a better choice than fast food.

Yelp
Another born and raised in Hawaii - So happy Mo'Bettahs has arrived as they are Mo'Bettah den da rest! Really its true they are on point with their flavors, much closer than the other guys because the owners are real "Locals" born and raised in Hawaii! The other guys are good and we wuz happy jus' to have them here in the midwest, BUT NOW the real deal has arrived! The Chicken Katsu is awesome, local style with local style katsu sauce. The teri beef and teri chicken have the local style flavor and the mac salad is Hawaii comfort food! You gotta check it out if you want to find out what the locals in Hawaii eat almost daily!

Yelp
I've really fallen in love with this place. The steak and chicken are grilled to perfection. The sides rice and and macaroni salad are also great, can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Keep up the great job, don't let the quality and taste change.

Yelp
From someone who was born and raised in Hawaii the name alone makes you feel excited to go. The food is really good. I love their Kalua pig... it's so nice and juicy. I love that they call the dishes like how we would call them in Hawaii. I kinda wish their employees knew how to say the dishes tho because I found myself pointing and describing it to the employer. I love the side condiments. The only down falls... the Mac salad is just straight Mayo. I think would be good if they added smashed eggs with it or even tuna so it's not so much Mayo. Lastly, I would love to see furikake for a seasoning on the rice. The catering option though is BOMB.com. I'm really happy they have multiple options.

Yelp
Found this place after have a nice foot massage at Tao Reflexology. Always up to try another Hawaiian option from the Bros. We order the large 3 meat deal. Chicken Katsu. Pulehu Chicken and the teriyaki Beef. All good but the beef meat could have been a better quality. It was tough and chewy. I had to spit some away. It's wasn't bad otherwise. Probably not coming back. I'll anyplace once.

Yelp
I tried Mo Bettahs for the first time today as they are fairly new to the Kansas City market. I was excited to finally try the food and stopped in around 3:30pm on Friday Nov 11th. I ordered a mini teriyaki chicken and steak plate to go. There was only one other group in the restaurant at the time so they were not busy at all. After about 15-20 minutes of waiting I went up to the counter to cancel my order because they were taking too long and the staff was moving very slow. They said my order was ready and it was just sitting on their prep table. By the time I got my food it was cold and not enjoyable at all. I wouldn't recommend this place and I don't think I'll ever come back here as my first experience was very poor.
