How to Help During Coronavirus: Fight Hunger and Support Austin Restaurants | Eater Austin

"A faith-based outreach ministry operating the largest prepared-food program for the homeless and working poor in Austin that has served millions of meals, distributes clothing and hygiene products without discrimination, and accepts both remote volunteer applications and limited in-person support across its mobile food ministries." - Sarah Engstrand

Awesome community of tiny homes. Connected to downtown Austin by its own bus stop. Great display of functional design and cooperative living. All-inclusive approach with a garden, general store, movie viewing area, and non-profit headquarters. I hope to see more communities modeled after the success of this one.

I had an awesome time volunteering. What an experience! Had a chance to meet so many genuine people. I will make it a habit!

Great place to serve for your church youth group - now, we did clear a field of ragweed and our allergies were not happy, but it’s an incredible community doing great work and ministry - and if you can get connected and support this ministry and work, do it!

MLF continues to go to the streets and meet those with physical and emotional needs where they are. Serving up a choice of food, clothes, and compassionate conversation.

This is an update paragraph. This facility only gets better. It is an absolutely wonderful project that everyone in Austin should visit and see what is possible when someone has the heart, the energy and the finances. It is truly incredible what they have done. My compliments to all involved. We should all donate when we can. Good people sharing their time energy and resources with those that are less fortunate. This place is immaculately clean and we have driven through it several times. I don’t know anywhere in Austin that is any better kept than this facility.

I contacted the Executive Director via phone and email a few years ago before finally visiting the village with my two youngest. I was very impressed with the village. I found it to be an innovative approach to a social challenge that continues to grow. Bringing people to together from all walks of life for one common goal to care for each other is the reflection and ministry of Jesus Christ. It inspired many including myself in our own vision. It is worth a visit.

Really cool place to visit and I imagine live. My friend lives out here and like the direction they are headed in for homelessness in Austin Texas. I wish the city would take note and get onboard theirselves or help them out in any way they can. I'm sure it would be a relief for the taxpayers to know their money is helping out in ways that could be seen and felt by people. Awesome experience!!!

Yelp
An incredible concept brought to life, Mobile Loaves & Fishes is a Christian social outreach ministry prioritizing community for all and encouraging discovery of skills and a lifestyle of service (especially to the homeless). Community Village invites neighbors to live together, promoting interaction with persons of all walks of life. Recently visiting, for the Christmas Village of Lights, I was blown away by the large community of tiny and mobile homes. I was especially impressed by the events they host, for neighbors, teaching new skills that produce fruitful outcomes. For example, a clay throwing class that has inspired neighbors to discover they're talent for art and creat beautiful ceramic pieces that sell to support the community. Without a doubt, you will feel welcomed here!
