A Flurry of D.C. Restaurants and Chefs Flock to Annapolis - Eater DC

"Moby Dick House of Kabob opened in Annapolis three months ago, after years of eyeing the location. The brand anticipates growth with the region, and sales have started 'slow and steady.'" - Claudia Rosenbaum

If you've never been to this local DC area chain of restaurants serving up fast casual Persian food, you are in for a treat. Mobys is your gateway drug to Persian food and hits on all cylinders. The food is solid, service always excellent, and variety has only grown over the years. If you're looking for dinner for the fam they have two family platter options that are excellent. You really can't go wrong with the food. It's tasty and ready quickly. Very happy to see them open up here in Annapolis!

Google
ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! I love a well balanced meal with a salad, carb and protein. This place provided everything I was looking for. I got the Mobys Combo III (ground beef and lamb) with saffron rice, salad with house dressing. Meat was tender and flavorful, rice buttery and fluffy, salad fresh and crisp. I will 100% recommend to all my friends, family and customers who come into my dealership. This restaurant will have my business moving forward! Thank you! P.S the photo doesn’t do it justice haha

Mobys Dick Kabob was outstanding! We had fun playing around with the name and the food.. Childish, we know, but when it came down to meat to mouth ratio, it was one of the best! Will return. Be sure to try the white cream sauce w cucumbers. Sorta like taziki sauce. Thank you.

Love it! I've tried Kabobs in many different places, including the countries where this is their traditional dish. Good quality, generous portion, well made, and original taste! Recommend it!

It was our first time trying Persian food. Fresh bread which was like pita, great appetizers. All the kabobs were cooked to perfection with only exception being boneless chicken pieces which were a bit undercooked. Overall two thumbs up!

My husband and I both ordered the chicken and beef kabob combo ( half rice and salad, too). The food was really good - we especially liked the way the beef was spiced. There was so much food that we brought it home and had enough for a second dinner. We also got baba ganoush which was also good. The service was very good, friendly and the restaurant was . We certainly would recommend it to others.

I ordered takeout last couple of months, probably 3-4 times. Today’s order was disappointing for real, portions of food and clearly smaller, even the rice! I know we all going to tough times, but if you change me $58 for “family order “ please at least keep rice serving as it used to be. Btw i also bought extra sauce for $1 something and no extra sauce. It is fine but this is how you lose customers.

We were so happy to see our favorite kabob restaurant open in Annapolis. We have loved Moby in Montgomery County since they opened. The new Annapolis spot is solid. Perfect kabobs and fresh yummy salads. Their lamb and chicken are our favorites😀

Yelp
Many moons ago in the mid 90's I frequented Moby Dick in the city (Georgetown). It was the days of late night work hours with hunger pangs and surely this place was open. Who can forget that yellow building on 31st? My musings here is only to nod of the goodness that Moby offers in Persian cuisine. A few critiques if I may are the lavash is plain and the kashk wasn't warm as it should be. Perhaps fluff it a bit and consider serving differently and presentable for in store diners? I could have taken it home and placed it on a plate taking shape of the container it came in too, but why bother to waste? Also, I want to mention sabzi was not served with my entrees. The kubideh and joojeh was delicious! Tender, flavorful bursting with saffron, and my lips that char goodness! And the basmati rice generous in portion and simply light and aromatic. Don't forget the must-o-kheyar. Parking is ample but could be congested down the road as the shared businesses and property fill in. Access and mobility could be limited during busy times. Great to see Moby in Annapolis!

Yelp
Hooray! Moby Dick has arrived in Annapolis, in the new Beacon development along Riva Road. M. D. was one of our favorite places in Montgomery County, and we have missed it so much. The place is bright and nicely decorated. They have tables & a counter with stools if you want to eat in, but they were also doing a brisk carry out business. We ordered our favorites: the dolmah appetizer and two chicken kebab platters (with 1/2 rice & 1/2 salad). They bring out pita bread with tazaiki sauce. The folks at the counter were SO pleasant. The chicken was very moist and perfectly cooked, and the portions were so big that we took quite a bit home.

Yelp
Pretty legit kabob chain restaurant that just moved into Annapolis. The location is prime but parking could get bad as the location fills in. As far as the food, the chicken and steak kabobs were both hot and extremely flavorful. The salad was nice and the premade sauces are ok, I prefer fresh made, but they are good. The rice was the fluffiest most flavorful rice I have had in a while. The nan bread was subpar but the place is still really good. Can't wait to eat more of the menu items in the future.

Yelp
I need to update my review as there's been a rash of messed up orders. Every time I use the app or have sent someone after placing order and order chicken and lamb combo I'm given steak. Why is this!?! It's happened at least 4 times. I love the food but if I pay for lamb. I am expecting lamb! Had to say this.

Yelp
excellent service! I had kabob and I really enjoyed it. The lamb shank was great too. Definitely a great spot for family or group gatherings--I'll be back!

Yelp
Generous portions, pleasant staff, but the food was only ok. Not bad if you don't want to go too far.

Yelp
First time visit announced. Ordered joojeh kaboob to-go. Presentation looks good but dig into the salad and find substandard romaine spines. Recommend cut out the spines, they deteriorate quickly. Chicken on top was done nicely and quite good. Will try the kabob sandwich on another visit. Thank you

Yelp
food was great, good portion for the price and awesome hospitality and service I recommend you to try this Persian restaurant with authentic and yummy food.

Yelp
After waiting 20 years for Moby Dick to open in Annapolis was pretty disappointed. While most other locations have a little personality this one is very sterile and seems like just another quick casual concept. Tzatziki sauce in a commercial sealed plastic cup (yes, also started at other locations). Chicken wrap had more lettuce than chicken. Food out of a central prep kitchen. Will give it one more try.
