Excellent chicken and bread. Strawberry dragon fruit juice is delicious. We love coming here and always think the service is phenomenal.

I come here a lot with friends. The food is more fast food style but still very flavorful. There is great Farsi music and beautiful paintings inside. Would recommend getting the Koobideh kabob and make sure to ask for your rice to be Tahdig. You won’t regret it :)

I came in here for my lunch break. Although the food was a little bit pricey it was worth it. I got the salmon kabob with double rice and I wasn't disappointed. Salmon was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The roasted red tomatoes and onions were cooked perfect as well. The drink Kevita I got with it was perfect. Would definitely recommend this place to others.

Had the Moby’s Combo 2 with rice and Moby’s Salad, very filling and delicious! Ordered online and they made sure my salad didn’t have olives as I requested and included everything needed to enjoy the meal.

We had a horrible experience at Moby Dick House of Kebabs that I felt compelled to share. After deciding to order takeout and carry out -we usually use Uber eats, I quickly realized that we should have just placed our order online. It was a complete disaster! First, they gave our entire order to an Uber Eats pickup, which left us waiting for longer than 40 minutes without a single apology. To make matters worse, I noticed other customers who arrived after us were being served before us. When I finally approached the cashier for help, I was met with rudeness and condescension instead of assistance. Overall, the poor service and lack of accountability were incredibly disappointing. I will definitely be staying away from this place in the future. It’s unfortunate because I had high hopes, but this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth. By the way asked for manager and they claimed no manager was onsite. Thursday evening??? Makes it worse.

One of the finest, if not the finest, kebab in the region, the meat is consistently tender and brimming with flavor, while the rice is also of exceptional quality.

I ordered the spicy chicken kubideh with rice checked AND salad checked on Uber eats. I didn't get any rice. I thought it was half rice half salad. 1 star bc this blew my night.

We really enjoyed our meals here. The chicken kebab was delicious! We loved the seasoning and the rice was fluffy and delicious, the salad was great and the pita was hot and delicious with the cucumber sauce. We do not have this chain in our area but we will definitely stop in if we pass one again!

Delicious Salmon Kebabs! Today in the mood for healthy/tasty lunch. I ordered the "Salmon Kabobs" (w/saffron basmati rice, grilled onions, grilled tomatoes & pita bread.) A generous portion. Fresh moist, flavorful salmon. The onion was not grilled as well today. It had a more crunchy rather than tender bite. Still tasty. Ordered for delivery- meal arrived nicely warm. See Photo.

Conveniently located close to the Bethesda Metro Station and right on Wisconsin. Looks small from the outside but interior has plenty of seating and a spacious waiting area near the counter. Ordering is done at the counter as well. Got a gyro to go. It was made fairly quickly and came with a side of tzatziki sauce. It was not wrapped like a typical Greek style gyro, but more like a wrap sandwich. The exterior was their trademark bread. It was like a pita, but softer and thicker with semi perforations. The interior was stuffed with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and really tender slices of gyro meat (ground beef and lamb). It was also very large and filling, but not heavy.

Whatever happened to their bread? It used to be so good that my wife and I would order extra bread to eat either with sumac or tzatziki. Last few times it has tasted like some generic thing they have outsourced

Haven't been here in years used to go to the Georgetown location fairly consistently. My first time at this location. My brother and me stopped here for a quick meal as part of his birthday celebration festivities. One of several stops. The ground lamb kabob skewer never disappoints. I got mine with basmati rice and the roasted tomato halves. No tumeric used in the rice here - it's all white. $16 and change for a very filling entree with naan bread and yogurt dipping sauce. They're a little on the slow side at this location (place was empty besides us and the kitchen was filling tons of online orders apparently) but the food was worth the wait. Service was decent, the young ladies were nice. Ambiance is basic.

Any restaurant that offers support for federal employees during a government shutdown furlough deserves a standing ovation and will have my support going forward! Thank you, Moby Dick, for offering free sandwiches to federal workers during this difficult time. My coworkers and I were the beneficiaries of complementary sandwiches during the last two weeks of the government shutdown, when we were not being paid. Moby Dick provided an amazing selection of sandwiches (all sandwiches on their menu). My lamb kebab sandwich had fluffy pita bread, nicely flavored lamb, fresh lettuce and tomato, and a generous portion of tzatziki sauce. (I opted out out of the feta cheese that was offered.) The food was delicious, perfectly seasoned, and perfectly cooked, and there was no skimping on portion size. I also loved the complementary sumac packets. And most of all I just appreciate restauranteurs who are willing to support their local customers in difficult times. Thank you, Moby Dick, and I will be back! Easy metro access. Street parking.

I get garlic sauce every time I come here. Every single time. Well I ordered the other day and I was told they don't have garlic sauce. I explained what I was talking about and where they get it from and still she said no. I love the garlic sauce and the spicy green chutney I would buy them in bulk if I could. The chicken was also undercooked, but this was the first time it was an issue. Will try again

Moby Dick is well known for their overly massive generous portions, including their lunch menu. They don't hold back on their platters. Meat, vegetables and addicting rice piled on top of each other, containing numerous flavors. The food is truly a lunch treat--a great go-to spot for our lunch crew when we are short on time. Service is fast and we all tend to grab to-go containers to eat a "second lunch/linner" later in the day. Highly recommend trying the salmon!

So disappointed to give this place a 2 star review especially since it holds such a special place in my heart. But the food was pretty bad and tasted old. We started with generous plate of cold cut bread to go with our sides of must mooseer and kashk bademjoon, which tasted good. We got two joojeh sandwiches and one plate with kubideh and chicken. The sandwich and bread were SO COLD and basically inedible. The chicken tasted off. The yogurt that came with it was completely watered down as if it has sad at room temperature. The bread is pre bought and no longer the same soft chewy homemade bread I have loved for decades. Also upon looking, there is FOOD COLORING in their chicken. Awful. We ended up throwing away a sandwich and a half. So so disappointed. Service was also off, one person working there was helpful the other was new and borderline rude.

We've been going to this location for years before COVID. Today, however, was quite a disappointment. Friendly service but the food...... it is still ok but nothing in comparison with 3-5 years ago. The green mix appetizer ( one reddish cut in half, tiny piece of feta cheese, sad green herbs and a few walnuts) was not fresh, lamb kebab was way too salty, to the point that it is for the first time I left uneaten kebab at Moby Dick. Sabzi in green sauce and humus were ok

This was my first stop after landing yesterday. I used to live in Bethesda and I couldn't wait to go back for lunch. They have been in business since 1989 and have been delivering quality Persian food for many years. They have also grown quite a bit since I lived here. The kabobs at Moby Dick house of kabob are as good as I remembered. You could smell it from the parking lot which got me hungry right away. I had a combo with 1 spicy ground #chicken kabob + 1 Joojeh chicken kabob. Don't forget to try their chutney. I also had 1/2 rice & 1/2 salad. They start you off with some of their fresh baked pita and their homemade yogurt cucumber sauce. Everything is so good and freshly made to order. I wish they were in South Florida so I can eat it all the time. Otherwise, I'll have to continue finding business meetings & keep coming back to the area.

The service at this "restaurant" is abysmal. There is no manager in charge so and the youngsters here really don't care about getting your order correct. Plus the food would be decent if they gave it to you while still moderately warm. So yourself a favor and go elsewhere

Great food at a good price. Taking off a star because the bread is no longer made one site and it's pretty lame. We don't eat it anymore. Still like moby dick but hate it when a place starts to change a good thing ....

Lost a long time customer! This place has been incredible until today. I traveled here with the confidence that I would get my order correct but when I traveled back home realized that not one yogurt was placed in my bag. I when I called and spoke with management they informed me that they have millions of customers when I mentioned that they may have lost a customer. Skip this place and go to the Chicken spot next door. Better service, food, and better humanity overall.

I do have to agree with a few of the previous reviews as much as that pains me. I only got maybe 4 pieces of chicken throughout my sandwich which was a little disappointing but the service and cleanliness of this location make it. The kind cashier gave me an extra sauce to try on the house that is a spicier sauce and delicious. Yes everything is packaged like a corporate run business but think of how much longer they can keep those products by sealing them properly and having them to quickly hand to a customer? I think it's better to be honest. This nice woman also recommended I get the Baklava to add some sweetness to my overall lunch order and she was right. It is delicious! Not too sweet. I work near here and will definitely be coming back for more lunches in the future.

We have eaten at Moby Dick about once a week for a decade or more. No more. Your Bethesda restaurant has become such a disappointment. The bread is awful since you changed bread suppliers about a year ago. It tastes like something we would find in the supermarket. The portions are smaller with the new packaging and more often than not the chicken is dry and overcooked. Good luck Moby Dick. You broke our hearts.

Just ordered via door dash. Lamb kebab was a heaping container of rice, a pitiful few chunks of lamb and the lentil soup was flavorless!! Totally disappointing

This used to be a great kebab place. Now this is what they.offer for $25. Garbage service. Garbage presentation. Subpar food. Just terrible. Cannot believe how bad it has become. Only good thing is they refunded me.

We decided to try this restaurant out last weekend. It's in Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda, with plenty of metered parking behind it. We had such a great meal! We ordered the first entrée on the menu with 1/2 rice and 1/2 salad, with generous ground beef and onion Kebab . It was so tasty! (And reasonably priced ) We are watching our weight so we shared the platter ~ and still had plenty. It is very spacious and casual - you order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. Several customers came in to pick up carry out orders. Very nice!

Ordered two salads (one with chicken on top), 2 water bottles, and an order of wings. Each wing was smaller than my 2 month old baby's hand. Feel completely ripped off. Charging this much for food in this economy and serving portions like this is unethical.

Service was friendly but the food a huge disappointment. Kebab arrived cold, didn't taste like much. Got the baklava, huge disappointment as well. Dry, little taste.

This is what I got for $18. This is from the Bethesda location. And, the chicken was tough and dry.

I used to be a regular at Moby's. The decline in both the quality and service are staggering. They no longer make the pita (bread) on site. It's now completely empty of any taste whatsoever. As for the rice which was previously the best is completely void of any taste. I got the Chenjeh Kabob which was $18.00 for a very small portion of steak. To say this entire experience was a disappointment would be a slur on dissatisfaction. On top of that they were sweeping and mopping the floor while I was sitting at my table . I will no longer be a patron of any Moby Dicks.

Moby Dick House of Kabob has been on my list for such a long time to try, and when I was invited in recently, I couldn't say no! This Persian fast casual restaurant has been in business since 1989 and has expanded to many locations throughout the DMV (think they're about to have their 23rd location!). We ordered a range of items to try but my favorite was the Moby's Gyro Sandwich and the Dolmeh (stuffed grape leaves). Moby's Gyro Sandwich had plenty of gyro meat, and it came with a yogurt sauce to dip it in. Honestly should of gotten an extra yogurt sauce with this. My husband loved his super combo, and the chicken was so flavorful! Definitely coming here to grab food again!!

I've given this location a 5 star in the past - favorite place in Bethesda . But , boy, where's the attention to the food ? Where's the good service ? What happened to the bread ? ( tastes and looks mass produced??) and the chicken was dry even though asked for " juicy" . I'm sure it's harder with fewer office workers to patronize this restaurant- but down in quality will also lose you customers. Very disappointing. This has always been my go-to place. Please , get your old manager back or something !

I can't believe I ate the whole thing! I ordered the Kubideh Kabob, which are kebabs made with ground beef. This entree comes with rice and/or salad, pita bread, yogurt cucumber sauce, and salad dressing. It was delicious! They offer many types of kebabs, but this one is my favorite. If you are planning to do takeout, I recommend that you order ahead. Otherwise, depending upon how busy they are, you could be waiting for about 10-15 minutes.

Chicken kabob was tender and rice is flavorful but their tzatziki and flat bread were very average. I wouldn't go out of my way to this place but if I'm in the area and hungry, I sure can stop by.

I used to enjoy the food years ago but this most recent meal was way sub par. Not sure if it is because they have more store and now corporate and not sure how much they are making in house. The yogurt sauce and salad dressing were prepackaged and not good at all. The kebobs were mediocre at best. The bread was unlikely to be from the tandoor they used to have. Basically Arby's can make kebobs -- but should they?

This is one of our go to places when we are visiting from out of town. The food is always seasoned well; never been a disappointment. The chicken kabobs are always flavorful and juicy. I love their homemade bread also. I wish they would open one closer to home. We recently ordered their family meal for 5-6 persons. The portion was very generous and we had the option to get half rice and half garden salad. On top of that, we also have 3 choices for side dishes. We picked the cold eggplant, hummus and fried falafel (this we didn't like much, we should have picked bakalava). All in all, I never have an issue with the food. Food is always served quick, fresh, and hot. The only downside is the Bethesda public parking fee that is required. The city of Bethesda could greatly help their businesses if they offer first 30 mins free parking.

The service and cashiers are too bad and the food was brought to us after 35 minutes and it was not fully cooked i will never go to this one , the other loctions are better , this one really unbeliveable .

Dear Mohammad G I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service that I received at your restaurant today from you (4/12/2023). I ordered 2 joojeh w/bread, AND MUST-O MOOSEER, one joojeh with rice and salad, and chutney side. I specifically requested that my meal comes with Must-o Mooseer sauce, which I paid extra for!!! I asked the manager Mr. Ganjinehnasab to ensure the sauce was in the bag and he tapped the bag it was in and said "yes" it's in there. I had to get back to work to give my co-workers their food so I really trusted Mohammad G was telling me the truth. Upon getting back to work I discovered the sauce that I paid for was Not in any of the bags! When I called the restaurant to speak with the manager Mohammad he was extremely disrespectful and unprofessional. He came on the phone asking "what do you want", and after bringing to his attention the sauce that I enjoy was missing he started to yell and behave like a toddler. I was shocked and taken aback by his behavior, which was completely uncalled for. After spending $51.37. Moreover, his dishonesty and lack of accountability makes me concerned about the safety and quality of the food that is being served at Moby- Dick restaurant when Mohammad gets upset. I can't help but wonder if this managers anger may lead him to do inappropriate things to the food, which is a serious concern for me as a customer and the public. I strongly believe that the manager in question needs to attend anger management classes in order to improve his behavior and communication skills. Customers need to be treated with respect and professionalism. Thank you for your attention to this matter. I hope to hear back from you soon with a resolution.

heard the older men and men in general there like touching their younger female workers and make them feel uncomfortable

This was definitely easily a 3 star experience. It rated dead accurate for the average that the restaurant has. Service was a bit cold but efficient. The food was a solid "decent", but nothing special. I ordered the salmon kabob. The salmon wasn't wildly fresh, but it wasn't terrible. The rice was ok... it lacked seasoning but it wasn't terribly overcooked or undercooked. The sauces were a bit watery... but nothing offensive. The salmon was a little overcooked but not egregiously so. I mean... truly everything about this place was "Right down the middle of the road." At the time, I was starving cause I hadn't eaten lunch and it was like 3:30pm, and it definitely served it's purpose. But going back, and looking at everything. Even the portion size left a little something to be desired for the price. 3 stars - all day.

A rip off. Before the pandemic they would give you a square container of rice with 2 kebabs. After the pandemic they increased the price and give you half the food as in a rectangular container not the square container. They cut the square container in half. And you only get one kebab and too much rice. 80% of the meal is rice. Do not waste your time or money.

Great place for a quick lunch. Very clean. Very quick service. Trendy music! The air is nice & cool in a super hot day. Staff is very polite and knows the menu well! Thx will come back. Super casual Persian food.

Recently learned of Moby Dick at a yelp elite event in Baltimore and immediately fell in love with the food. I was happy to learn they had so many locations in the area. I downloaded the app right away. On a rainy Saturday afternoon I looked up the closest one to Silver Spring and this location popped up so I decided to head here. I found parking right away in front. Came in to place a to go order. The guy at the register seemed annoyed that I was taking awhile to decide. Mind you, there's no one else waiting to order! When I finally decided (less than a minute after) I told him I wanted the Combo II (the kubideh sirloin kabob and the joojeh grilled chiken kabob). Due to his accent, I had a hard time clearly understanding what he was saying so I asked him to repeat himself and he kept saying what I heard as "half and half?" I said I wasn't sure what that included and then he said, "ok fine, rice!!" Um, excuse me?! Wow! I guess this is how they speak to customers here?! I drove 20 minutes during heavy rain and wintry mix to get some comfort food and made to feel like I was incompetent...not sure about this location. I'll say the food itself was good, but I didn't appreciate being spoken to so rudely and I felt I needed to let them know about my poor treatment here.

Ordered 2 kabobs and falafel pita wrap. The kubideh was more like hamburger because it was ground up. The spicy chicken kebab tasted exactly like crystal hot sauce. The kebabs over all were very bland and lacking in seasoning. They didn't really have much flavor. Both were over cooked and dry. The rice and salad were alright. The falafel was also dry. The tahini sauce also was lack luster in flavor. It tasted mostly of just plain yogurt with sugar in it. The best thing we got was the hummus but it also just needed more spice. Over all we all agreed we won't come back.

Called in a large carry out order for New Year's Day, and as usual everything was hot, fresh, and delicious! The order was ready when I arrived, packed very nicely, and they were kind enough to help me carry it all out to my car. The salad was beautiful and fresh with huge chunks of feta, the rice was perfection, and all the kabobs were juicy and flavorful. The bread was warm and soft, so good dipped in hummus! This is always our favorite spot, and I highly recommend, 10/10! Great food, friendly service.

Terrible service. Ordered thru Uber An hour and ten minutes later the food tasted like cardboard. Original delivery time was 25 minutes.

I'd previously reviewed this Moby Dick House of Kabob location years ago, but I recently ordered from here again (through a third-party delivery service) and absolutely loved the food once again! We ordered the following: -Kabob Barg (steak kabob) with saffron rice. This was amazing! It was very juicy and succulent and I loved the grilled tomato that came with it. -Chicken Kabob Sandwich (I heard this was good and not dry at all and was full of flavor) This Persian girl was very pleased with the food from Moby Dick! I will definitely continue visiting. Though they mostly have kabobs, and not other traditional dishes, I've heard that each weekday for lunch, they rotate out one traditional Persian stew (ghormeh sabzi, for instance), so I'll definitely have to check that out!

Somewhat disappointed. Expected great food. Their Wednesday specials meat was not appropriately stewed into the meal with the meat dry and hard. A problem for chain restaurants. Do not advise high expectations. Sorry

In a nutshell, the interior of the restaurant is small and low on decor and ambiance; however, the quality of the food is excellent once it's ready. You order at the counter, get a buzzer, wait, and pick up your food around the corner. There's a soda fountain machine around the corner, but it's very tight because of tables along the wall. You can also place your order online or on a number of food-ordering sites including Yelp's own. There is street parking but there aren't very many spots, and it's difficult and dangerous to park because of busy Wisconsin Avenue and cars whizzing by. As a result, I generally stay away from this location.

I love this place . Costumer for many years and never got disappointed in their food or service . The bread is the best part of the food. Thank you for serving such great food for the community and being opened in such difficult times .

How have I missed reviewing this place? My favorite place to get kabobs and this is one of the better locations. It's pretty non descript in decor. Walk in, order and walk out. There are alot of actual persians who go here, the other location in Arlington happens to have less of a persian crowd and they get hook you up when you order in farsi. A gallon of mast o khiyar and extra pita for free, woo hoo! Here they couldn't care as much. So to explain there are different types of kabob 1-Kabob barg-flattened strips of beef 2-Kabob koobideh-lean ground beef or chicken prepared on a flat skewer, this is by far the smelliest and the tastiest of all kabobs. 3-Kabob Chenjeh-chunks of meat, when you thing of shish kabob I guess this is the closest. 4-Joojeh kabob-here is its marinated strips of chicken, other places this is grilled pieces of a whole cornish game hen. You have the option to get bread, salad or rice with the mean for under $10. By far, I love Koobideh and chicken kabobs on bread, cause the bread gets saturated with the meat marinade. It all comes with a little cup of mast o khiyar which is yogurt with cucumbers, mint and yogurt. I would also suggest getting salad shirazi to go with the kabobs (Diced cucumbers, tomatos & onions mixed with chopped parsley & crushed, dried mint, seasoned with lime dressing.) One thing I wouldn't recommend is the Kashk-e Badenjan (Sauteed Persian eggplants blended with "Kashk" (a creamy cheese sauce made from sun dried whey) garnished with hot mint sauce), it's not as tasty.
