I characterize myself as The World's Fussiest Espresso Drinker. I went into Mocha Joe's yesterday, on my way from my best friend's near Albany NY to my home outside Boston. I've had a lot of trouble recently finding decent espresso other than from my home machine. As I entered Mocha Joe's, I didn't realize I was about to hit the jackpot!
When I took my first sip of the half espresso, half hot milk (I forget what they called it, but that's how I asked for it), it was like a symphony going off in my mouth. And the symphony played grandly for the whole half hour or so that I took to drink it.
The patrons were very nice to my little border collie, and the staff were fine with her being in their coffee house as long as she didn't go behind the bar, which she did once, early on. In fact, the staff all seemed like very nice people, as did the patrons.
The coffee house itself looked like the nicest place to sit for an extended period of any of the coffee houses I've been inside in the last few years--about 5-6 of them, mostly in Cambridge.
I vouch for everything Thomas L. says in his review. If I lived in Brattleboro, I'd be in here every day.
