The Bay Area’s Most Exciting Restaurant Openings - Eater SF

"San Francisco’s popular Mochill Mochidonut, a Japan Center doughnut window known for its wildly flavored (think black sesame or Fruity Pebbles) doughnuts, has opened a delivery-only operation in Jingletown, with 16 flavors of rings available online." - Eve Batey

Got 6 of the donuts on Doordash for a birthday and they were DELICIOUS. Some of our donuts didn't look like the picture of the one we got but looked like a different donut.. but it TASTED like the correct donut. Not sure if our order was wrong or the donuts were just made differently. Definitely want to get from here again and buy a cupcake next time.

This visit to Mochill Mochi Donut was occasioned by a Yelp Élite Squad event. Located in a "cloud kitchen" - multiple businesses offering takeout & delivery only; not a food hall, no seating on-site, Jingletown Eats in the perfect food-creation solution during a pandemic. Rushing home to feast on the donuts whilst they're as fresh as could be, here's my order, ranked from most satisfying: Curry Salt - a savory donut is always an unusual treat and one with Indian flavors is doubly so. The texture of the donut combined with dry curry spice and salt is a joy. It could be immeasurably improved with a drizzle of Major Grey's Chutney (as the PB&J has drizzled jelly). Peanut Butter Jelly - "absolutely convincing" was the comment I heard, spoken with a full mouth :-) The drizzle of jelly over the donut gave a bang of flavor and a wonderful moist texture. Nutella - a really satisfying blend of sweet hazelnut and donut. Die-hards could probably survive on a box of only Nutella donuts (although at a cost of missing the other interesting flavors). S'Mores - "close, but no cigar" because a dire lack of graham cracker flavor. There were crumbs atop this donut so perhaps it's just that there wasn't enough to make this a truly satisfying s'more donut. Dark Chocolate - this one had my highest hopes, being a lover of the dark, but there wasn't enough chocolate and as it was presented we felt it was a failed éclair. This one needs a tweaking. Note that Mochill donuts are about half the volume of traditional donuts, which I would've shown in a photo if any other donuts had survived long enough...

2023 update: New Oakland location on Adeline. Nicer location; close to freeway; can usually get parking right in front. Still love the donuts! Very fun and delicious flavors. Original review: Discovered Mochill at its SF location. This was my first time picking up from the Oakland location. Placed my order online about an hour before I wanted to pick up. They had my order at the counter on time. There's short-term parking on the side of the building. The building now has a giant mural on it and is named "Oakland Food Hall." Now, about the donuts -- delicious and unique! Pictured L-R, starting w/ top row: Mango, PB&J, Chocolate, Choc Almond; Cookies & Cream, PB&J, Strawberry, Gummy Bear; Cookies & Cream, Fruity Pebbles, Fruity Pebbles, and S'mores. They're all tasty, and with the ball sections, they are easy to split and share with others. My faves are the fruit flavors (Mango, Strawberry, Fruity Pebbles), but I'll eat them all. :) Glad to have this location as an option!

Finally got round to stop by, and overall, I had a good experience and loved the great flavors of the icing. My top favorites are mango, yummy without being overly sweet, and matcha, strong tea fragrance! ❤️ The takoyaki flavor was also delicious, but I think I prefer sweet donuts to savory ones. I really like the strawberry flavor, but I tried it on a cupcake. I agree with other reviews that perhaps the donuts are better than the cupcakes (denser texture in my opinion), which I enjoyed but wasn't truly impressed. I also prefer more icing on my donuts/cupcakes, and the ratio of icing to dough is better on the donuts than on the cupcake. Will come by again the next time I crave mochi donut.

First if this is your first time here...you will get lost lol. Just look for all the cars double parked. Second order ahead because it isnt one of those walk-in type establishment. (Dunno if this place is always like this). The mochi was great. Chewly and delicious. These are dangerous, you can eat all of them by yourself. The cupcakes were good but I prefer the donuts. Definitely would get again.

HEADS UP: this is not a storefront, it is a pick-up location only. That being said, these have got to be my new favorite donuts! The chewy texture from the rice flour really sets these apart as well as the variety of flavors.

After reading the reviews, figured the fastest way to get the donuts is to order online. So I did. Got a text that the donuts were ready at the time that I chose. Gave me a locker number for pickup. As everyone mentioned, it's at the Oakland Foodhall building, parked at the temporary lot next to the building. Got my donuts at the designated locker door. This was a quick and efficient process. The price has gone up since the SF store opened 2 years ago, then it was $12 for a dozen. I guess they have to compensate for all the 21 flavors they now have. I got the half dozen. All six flavors were great: curry salt, mango, hochicha, takoyaki, cookies n crm, taro. Can't find more unique flavors than this place. Will definitely come back to try other flavors.

It's located in a shared kitchen type of building called "Jingletown Eats." It seems there is one pick up window for all the businesses located inside but none of them are advertised because it is for order ahead/pick up only. This is not a store front so nothing is displayed! You give your name at the pick up window and your order is handed to you. My donut order was ready within 10 minutes of ordering online through Google/ChowNow.
