11 New Restaurants and Bars to Check Out in Ann Arbor

"The popular purveyor of doughnuts, Korean hot dogs, and boba has landed in Michigan. The name comes from the spot’s line of mochi (rice flour balls) that are interconnected to form donuts topped with dozens of different toppings and frostings. On the savory side, hot dogs here are encrusted with crispy ramen, crunchy cereal, hot Cheeto dust, potato cubes, or original breading and then deep-fried for an over-the-top corndog-like experience." - John Reyes

Went with my kids and tried the donuts and corn dogs. I had zero expectations for the donut not knowing how it would taste. I got the raspberry funnel and it was so light and airy. Both my little guys got the cookies and cream, and it was a bit heavier, but both were so good. My son got the potato rice dog and I tried it, it was very good. My other son got the taki rice dog and he didn’t love it. The workers were nice and the place was clean, although my boys said the bathrooms were stinky and a disaster. That needs some work. We’ll be back to get more donuts.

Google
I came specifically to get a boba in the cup that is advertised which as you can see we did not get. The boba tea is premade in beverage dispensers and honestly one of the worst boba’s I have had. My daughter rated the Hot Cheetos original hot dog a 3/5.

Google
They had the on going promotion if you buy 6 donuts you get free 1 corn dog or lemonade. We got the corn dog and it did not disappoint. My son finished all of it and he really liked it. The donuts are fresh and good.

Google
Super crowded and creepy. The bathrooms smelled rancid. The food was okay, but it became super crowded in a couple of seconds. The Ramen was great, but it was pre-package, so you can definitely do it at home without needing to buy it through Mochinut. The thai tea was alright. The donuts were also okay. However, there are better places to buy mochi donuts for. I definitely don't recommend this place.

Went here tonight 5/7/25 as my son thought it was cool to make his own Ramen. The menu listened online the prices are not right. An egg in the Ramen is $1.75. Green onions are .99c. I got 2 eggs, and green onions and my Ramen came out to $11.49. I got a original ricedog, breading was ok, not a fan of the hot dog. The original mozzarella dog was eh. My son absolutely loved his Green Apple Lemonade and his Ramen was okay. He asked for cheddar cheese and was given a single wrapped piece of sandwich cheese. He liked his oreo and cookies and cream donut. Place is alright but to me is pricey and also they do not have any non spicey Ramen, which was a bummer because one person who came, doesn't do spicy so they just had ice cream. Also I will say walking in the door we did, you are hit with an awful smell. We drove 30 mins to try, spent over $60, will not do again. We thought first time let's try.

Google
The mochi donuts were soft, chewy, and delicious. Flavors popped a bit more compared to your standard donut. Korean corn dog was sweet, crispy and delicious. The 1/2 cheese 1/2 hot dog wasn’t stuffed with as much cheese as I expected but it was still good. Worth checking out

Google

Google
Mochinut Ann Arbor never disappoints. The place is always spotless, and the staff is super friendly and welcoming. You can tell they take pride in what they do. The mochi donuts are fresh, fun, and full of flavor — perfect every time. Great vibe, great service. Definitely a go-to spot when you’re craving something sweet!

Yelp
Mochinut is a must try if you find yourself on the north side of Ann Arbor. I highly recommend the strawberry and cookies & cream mochi donuts. Original is great too if you like a plain donut. The strawberry lemonade with popping boba is excellent as well. Huge pros with the variety of payment options as you can order online for pickup or delivery, and in person at the register or via touch screen. Cons would be you have to order 3+ donuts which is only a small con in my opinion as they're not too filling. Another small con is their straws don't fit very nicely with their drink lids. Only a problem if you need a straw for boba. The service is quick and they'll send you a text once your orders ready if you provide a phone number. Plenty of seating and this location was not very busy the handful of times we've visited.

Yelp
What a fun place to come with chingu!! I had an hour between work and decided to come check it out by myself, had the most EPIC fried mozzarella and highly recommend visiting just to try one. It was so good! Donuts are not fresh but the flavors are extra fun and it's hard to get any kind of donut this late at night. Boba is super good as it always is. Don't leave without trying a hotdog!!!!

Yelp
Best things we had - potato mozzarella and churro mochinut Star of the show mango habanero dipping sauce Next time I'm going to have the potato hot dog Not cheap. Worthy of a special treat every now and then

Yelp
For all the donut connoisseurs, this place should go on your list! These donuts are so soft they melt in your mouth! Cute storefront with seating inside. A little on the pricey side but worth every penny if you're treating yourself

Yelp
We tried this place because of the hype. We had the potato and hot Cheetos dogs. The potato dog was better than the Cheetos. Mind you it is highly recommended. We also tried the green apple lemonade which was sour at first but very good and we also tried the Ube. Both were very delicious. Price point was good. We didn't try any doughnuts because we came later in the day and they only had 3 flavors. We wanted to try the ones they didn't have. So we will visit back again.

Yelp
This place is ok. I suggest bober tea as a better mochi donut option. The Yuzu donut was wayyy too citrusy. & the fruity pebbles on top of the ube donut didn't really match the ube flavor. Just made it way sweeter than it needed to be. The matcha donut was my favorite. Not too sweet. I wish there was an option to order the donuts warm. The store is a decent size but a lot of empty space. Could place a couple more tables in there.

Yelp
Pretty good donuts! I love mochi and mochi donuts were light and chewy without feeling heavy. The space is big and modern and bright. Can't say much about the staff since we used the self-service tablet to order. As far as hot dogs they don't have a lot for vegetarians. I got a potato cheese stick and it was only Ok. I wouldn't go back for those. I would go back for the donuts though!

Yelp
I was so excited to try after opening! Once the initial crowd died down, we came to check it out. There is plenty of seating and chill music playing. To order, you use the electronic quiosk. We didn't have any interaction with employees. We ordered a 6 pack of donuts ($18), 2 hot dogs, and two drinks. The total came out about $40. At the end of check out, there is an auto-added tip that was a little sneaky, so keep an eye out for that. I got the mango lemonade with popping boba. It was really good, but next time I would probably only do the drink, sans boba because the combo was just way too sweet. Unfortunately you don't get to pick the sweetness level. The hot dog was the star. I got a potato dog with half mozzarella. It was awesome! I've just tried one of the donuts we ordered so far. I went with the cookies and cream for my first pick and it was so good!

Yelp
I love that a Mochinut has finally made its way to Ann Arbor. The donuts are chewy like mochi and fun to twist off. The hot dogs are also really big. I like to get the potato mozzarella ones - savory and cheesy. However, note that you can only be 3 donuts at a time for $10 which is a little bit overpriced in my opinion.

Yelp
The service here is not very friendly, but the overall ambiance is pretty cute and nice. The matcha mochi donut was extremely bitter and tasted pretty concentrated but the other two were tried were very good. Boba was amazing, and the potato corn dog was alright, but not incredible. Of course, personal taste comes into play!

Yelp
Shocked at how anyone could give a positive review here - there has been zero professionalism from this business since they first announced their opening. They had a bait & switch promotion running during which they aggressively advertised a free item, failed to follow up with the coupon for many people, and for those who received the promo it was only with a $10 purchase. They ran out during the soft open and have since closed again to iron out the business until next weekend. Honestly crazy lack of planning and organization.

Yelp
Even with the opening weekend crowds, the Mochinut team was a well-oiled machine. Between a long line and a wait for the corn dogs, we were still only in there for about 30-40 minutes. Their staff was so friendly and efficient. And the FOOD. We tried a bit of everything: donuts, corn dogs, and bubble tea. It was all amazing. We will be back ASAP!
google avatar

Aminah K.

Yelp
The corn dogs were just ok! A little bit greasy and thr breading to cheese ratio was off. The donutseere pretty good and had a nice chewy texture. The decor inside this place is cute. I went within the first couple weeks they opened and it still was not completely set up and there were unpacked boxes everywhere. You order at a kiosk and then they call your order. It can be a bit annoying to use the kiosk as there are always some people who take extremely long placing their order. There was a staff member hovering around the kiosk helping customers.

Yelp
So impressed with Mochinut! We only ordered mochi donuts and they were out of this world! Love the chewy texture of the donuts! The flavors were great. I was surprised that the matcha donut was my favorite. We ordered from a computer, so we didn't have any interaction with employees. It was super cute inside and plenty of seating.

Yelp
Went the soft opening for mochinut! Have really been counting down the days for this location to open! The indoor design of mochinut is very adorable, has very spacious seating areas and it seems as if they will be getting Photo Booth/zone for customers! Which is always appreciated since it makes the cafe more lively and filled with character! In terms of the mochinut all of them were so fresh, chewy and very great representation of the unique individual flavours. I love the cute packaging box they come in. However I noticed the donuts get squished and loses its shape inside the box during transporting. The corndog was crispy juicy. It's nice they have a self sauce bar that you can customize the sauces to your liking. Most importantly the staffs are very sweet and accommodating, definitely will be back when craving Asian sweets! It's an added plus that they have plenty of parking spaces as well!

Yelp
Definitely would not be coming back a second time. It's really overhyped. The donuts have almost to no flavor besides the bread itself. The coffee one had the most flavor but 6 for $18 is outrageous. Was an experience to try.

Yelp
Cute space, clean interior, friendly staff. The mochinuts were a slightly chewier, less sweet, version of a donut. I was not so impressed with my first bite, but somehow these mochinuts got more and more addicting as I took more bites. The reason I gave this place 4 stars, however, is because I feel like 10$/3 mochinuts seems quite steep.
google avatar

Satoko W.

Yelp
They are kind of chewy doughnut if you know the texture of Japanese mochi. What I liked about it was that they are not overly sweet, at least the kind I had, plain, matcha, and cookie & cream. What I didn't care for about this place is not being able to select quantity. You need to select a box of 3 or 6 or 10. So I couldn't buy just 1 or 2 for the road which is inconvenient for me as a small eater.

Yelp
After enjoying a perfect mochi donut at a Paris Baguette in CA last spring, I was overjoyed to find out that we'd have easy access to the delicious treats in Ann Arbor. Mochinut's donuts, however, are a bit disappointing. They're decent donuts but they are more like regular donuts in taste and texture than a true mochi donut. The original tastes like Dunkin' donut holes and you can barely detect the chewiness of mochi. We tried the original, raspberry, rainbow yogurt and banana chocolate. The weirdly artificial banana flavor of the banana chocolate donut rendered it inedible but the others were ok. We also tried the scary looking Cheetos original rice hotdog. I was surprised to find it pretty tasty. Will go back to try some other hotdogs but will pass on the donuts.

Yelp
I probably just started a really bad habit because I'm probably going to stop by here at least one a week The donuts are super fluffy and the corndogs are super crispy and I like the unique flavors that they offer! Can't wait to see what flavors they'll have next time!

Yelp
Amazing and fast service, very fresh food. Since this restaurant is fairly new, the ambiance is not fully up to par. But the quality and taste of the food makes up for it. I ordered a 3 pack of mochi donuts, and they were very delicious. They have some attributes of a normal donut, but are different in their own way which makes it very appetizing. The corn dogs are very good, and the crispiness of them are near perfection. If i were to leave one recommendation, it would be to add more of a variety of sweet and tangy sauces. I highly recommend.

Yelp
The drinks were amazing, best Thai iced tea I've had in a while. I love mochi donuts, and they are definitely worth trying if you haven't had them before. Compared to other mochi donuts I've had, these were good, though a bit dry.

Daniel K.

Yelp
Best donuts in town. Competing donuts are really bad but these are the best options. I got twice so far and I will be getting again soon! Boba tea was good I mean typical but a little pricey.

Jenica A.

Yelp
Customer service non existent, inside feels a bit unfinished. Donuts good, bubble tea charges for popping boba though no credit for taking out tapioca boba. Packing nice and tastes good!

Meeroo K.

Yelp
The soft opening was crazy! When I say crazy, I mean it with multiple meanings. It was crazy how many people showed up to the soft opening which shows just about everyone else was looking forward to this place like me. Ultimately, it was crazy that it was just as good as I expected it to be. The design was really clean, workers were friendly, and the food was amazing!
