The 10 Best Donut Shops In Philly - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Mochi donuts are puffier than most donuts, and since they’re made with rice flour, they’re slightly healthier and naturally gluten-free. These are the facts we tell ourselves when we have the urge to order two or 10 of them from this Old City donut shop. And with flavors like chocolate, ube-glazed, strawberry funnel, or churro, it's easy to see why these spots are popping up on every corner like Spirit Halloween stores during the month of October." - candis mclean

Mochinut Review - Old City - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Mochi donuts are puffier than most donuts. Since they’re made with rice flour, they’re slightly healthier and naturally gluten-free. These are the facts we tell ourselves when we have the urge to order two or 10 of them from this Old City donut shop. Whether you go with chocolate, ube-glazed, strawberry funnel, or churro, you’ll bite into something that will make you feel as good as warm sunshine. If you’re looking for a light breakfast that’s not another bowl of granola, a donut and matcha tea is the way to go.  " - Candis R. McLean

A little disappointed with the lack of availability when we went. There were only 4 donut flavors available in the display case, so the flavors we initially went for we did not get. However, the donuts were great! They were very fresh, and presentation wise were so cool.

Google
This should be the next best thing! Very tasty, chewy and well-made donut. I didn't expect the texture could be this balance between chewiness on the inside and the crispyness on the outside. We ordered raspberry, green tea, and churro flavoured and they are all very tasty. Friendly service, good spot!

Google
The Mochinut Ball tastes good. A fluffy texture and chewy dough. I also brought the Premium Brown Sugar Milk Tea, which is not impressive at all. This drink is basically a combination, not even a mixture, of whole milk and brown sugar syrup, from which I did not taste any tea flavor. Most of the brown sugar syrup does not dissolve, so the cooperation between it and milk does not actually happen.

Presentation for the doughnuts are so cute but the fruity pebble one was a bit too much for me with the icing. I will try something different next time. The booba was exactly how I like it…not too sweet. I will be back!

Really wanted a sweet treat after having spicy noodles but was so disappointed by the ice cream. I love black sesame flavor and have had amazing ones before, but this seriously wasn’t it. I have run restaurants and cafes and your ice cream was 1) tasted old like it has sat there a long time, probably freezer burned/temp holding 2) tasted like chemicals and for some odd reason chicken bouillon. I was very thrown off because I was expecting black sesame. The young lady scooping the ice cream had her hair dangling in it while she was trying to get it and that was definitely concerning as well. I tried to let yall know but the response was I don’t like it either. It wasn’t about personal opinion I just genuinely believe something was wrong with the ice cream and you shouldn’t serve it, especially at $6 a scoop but thank you for allowing me to change it out, at least the donut($4) was decent.

I went to get a corn dog but they said they paused all corn dogs. I don’t know if it was for a short time or a few days or permanently. Instead I got a mochi donut. Ube flavored and it was delicious. The texture is amazing! Also I got a bubble tea. it was a little bland and it didn’t have the can top open like pictured which doesn’t change the taste, but was a little bit disappointing.

What a treat! The staff was very friendly the place is so clean and Goku was a nice touch! It was my first time…of many to come…don’t think I want to go back to a traditional donut again!

Tasty donuts! Came on a Tuesday and the Korean/ Japanese Hot Dogs weren’t available… would have love to try them!

Yelp
We were passing by and bought a fruity pebbles mochi donut. Tastes nice and light and just like the cereal. I'd like to try the rice dogs next time.

Yelp
Hopped on the Korean hot dog trend! I didn't realize I could get one with just cheese inside so I stopped in today to grab a potato mozzarella variation. It tasted like a regular corn dog without the beef. There was definitely some sweet and salty action happening in the outside potato coating and I enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. It was filling, too. Picked up two mochi donuts as well to snack on later - cookies & cream and Ube. I'm looking forward to trying them. Establishment was clean and the employee at the front was kind and helpful. I took a hot dog to go and she suggested heating it up in the air fryer to keep the cheese melty. A little pricey for four items but these are foods you only have once in a blue so I'm not mad about it.

Yelp
Tried the cookies n cream donut which was decent but I'm not sure it was worth $4. The donuts have a chewy texture that's different from your typical donut. I didn't have a chance to try their boba. It wasn't super busy on a weekday afternoon. This is located at the front of an Ebisu store which sells lots of fun Japanese skincare products, snacks, and other items. There is limited seating, some standing room.

Yelp
Stopped by this shop for some mochi donut. We ordered 3 pieces for $10.50 and got the following: Brown Sugar - My favorite as it's sweet just like the boba drink. Black Sesame - If you ever had the black sesame snacks or any other black sesame flavor, you should give this a try. The taste is on the subtile side. Pumpkin Oreo - I did not find this very unique. Tastes like the Oreo filling with the orange pieces being the cookie part.

Yelp
This was our first time trying mochi donuts and it definitely won't be our last. The main donut is chewy and has a very flavorful icing on it. We especially liked the chocolate and strawberry. Boba was made fresh and tasty. Would recommend

Yelp
The mochinuts were beautiful and wonderfully displayed. We tried the mango, ube, and matcha, but the flavors was lacking in the ube and matcha. They were dry and tasted like dirty oil, but the texture was nice and chewy. I was so excited to try this fun twist on doughnuts. The boba coffee was great and came in a fun plastic cup. If you're looking for caffeine, it doesn't have much of a kick. The staff was quick to take the order and prepare it (everything is already made, just needs to be put in a container), but they seemed very unhappy to be working. I won't be rushing back, unfortunately.

Yelp
When I visited Philadelphia I decided to go there when it opens because I had a plane that I had to go on at 12:00 but it had not opened on time so I hadn't got the chance to try their food.

Yelp
Another Mochinut location in Chinatown opened up. These mochi donuts are everywhere. They taste okay. Not quite my kind of desserts. Anyway, I came here with friends during the soft opening. I got the Nutella flavor. It tastes good. The location looks nice. Service was friendly. There is a store in the back. It's two stories. They have a lot of plush and anime figures. Basically lots of cute Asian stuff. There are snacks and beauty products too.

Yelp
This store is in front of Ebisu. There are several chairs to enjoy the delicious mochi donuts, corn dogs, or tea. They provide some samples to help you decide because there are so many choices. My favorites are chocolate with almond, raspberry, passion fruit, and mango. They don't taste artificial at all because according to the staff there, they use real fruit.

Yelp
My review is only based on the bubble teas alone and not the donuts. Service was quick, and the presentation was good as well. We ordered Match, Brown sugar, and Thai tea. The first two were ok.. they were mainly milk and sugar. The Thai tea smelled like medicine and was so bitter. My husband had to throw away his drink because the taste was too intense. We regret getting it and would rather save up the space in our stomach for something else. We might go check out the donuts and possibly update my review.

Yelp
The Hot Cheetos corn dog was good in my opinion but oilier than other Korean corndogs I've had before. Maybe on purpose to have the Cheetos stick? I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I had an instant stomachache after eating it though. Maybe from the combo of oil and spice, not sure. Just a fair warning. It was warm and I got a good cheese pull so that's a positive. I did not try their donuts. Wait time was pretty long despite it not being busy. At least 10 minutes for one corn dog. I can't imagine the wait when there's actually more than 2 customers.

Yelp
Fun! Walking through Chinatown and this place caught my eye. Tried some mochinuts. Got a box of 6 for about $20. Not too sweet. Unique flavors to choose from. Oreo and funnel cake were the best we tried. Cute store in the back ... but way to crowded to walk through.

Yelp
I was happy seeing a mochinut in Chinatown. It's about time. I came in just to check the place out out with my friend and immediately want to get some mochinut. There are so many choices, but I'm so happy I got the churro one, it's not too sweet like some of the icing one. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely be returning next time I'm in Chinatown. Next time I'll try the hot dog for sure. Stay tune ;)

Yelp
I've tried other mochi donuts and by far this is the best. They're also larger and tastier. Definitely try the ube! Purple yam goodness. They have other varieties such as fruity pebbles, tiramisu, original, dark chocolate etc. there is a line on a Sunday but definitely give this place a try!

Yelp
First time going to Mochinut! there's seats and tables inside and outside the store and cool decor. Service was fast but the person working had an attitude towards my grandma :( but I digress....I tried three of their mochi donuts. Mango: sweet, kind of reminds me of Filipino mango cake Dark chocolate: pretty good, not too sweet or oily! Churro: tasted like ur old ordinary churro so nothing outstanding Also ordered a Ube boba tea, the can/cup is so cute :,) so good for pics! plus tastes good! if you like taro boba tea you will like this :) I'll have to come again for the Korean dogs though

Yelp
Was standing with a group of people today waiting for the business to open. The young lady in there who is incredibly rude out obnoxious and not at all customer service focused after about 10 or 15 minutes open the door and very rudely said they have no Boba, because she is late. She was not at all apologetic about the circumstances,

Yelp
Amazing donuts. Our family was in Chinatown for the day and decided to stop into this place that just opened up. They had lots of other cool looking things but decided to give the donuts a try. Our favorites were the Oreo and Ube ones! Would recommend and will definitely be back.

Yelp
I doordashed from here and it wasn't bit as good as I had hoped. I ordered 3 donuts and there wasn't an option to select which ones I wanted so I put in the special requests section what flavors I wanted. I ended up not getting any of the flavors I requested which is alright, but when I tried them they were all EXTREMELY sugary I couldn't finish them. (Churro, Brown Sugar Milk Tea, and some orange one with brown sugar sauce on it, I think it was the exact same just Halloween themed. I also got a ramen half and half hotdog and compared to other Korean hotdogs I've had (Mochiatsu, and Crunchik'n) this was my far my least favorite. Not enough cheese and the actual dough was more dry and much smaller than the others.

Yelp
Corn dogs are great. Though they had no donuts at this location due to being end of day. Not too bad of wait.

Lena L.

Yelp
My kids spat it out. The glaze was too thick therefore very sweet. Service could be better. I waited at the counter for about a minute before they asked me what I wanted. They were busy talking behind the curtain.

Yelp
I ordered the ramen rice hotdog and the ube mochi donut. I liked it. It was fairly inexpensive (cheap) but tasted good. The workers were very friendly and informative when I asked about the ingredients of the ramen rice hot dog (beef sausage) and no dairy. The ube donut has Fruit Pebbles cereal on top so it add a nice color and crunch. It was super soft and chewy. I definetly would come again with a friend. To be honest though, even though the employees are nice and friendly, I can't say the same thing for the customers. Two very rude and young girls (customers-middle school or high school age) asked me if I was eating a potato corn dog (even though the outside was clearly ramen, and not potatoes) and then called me a "bitch" under their breath, when they were interrupting my snack after a long day of work, so that experience was a bit unpleasant, and at no fault to the employees or food place.

Yelp
Food was amazing nice atmosphere and good service waitress was excellent and polite. Would definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
There staff were horrible , they kept giving us the wrong order. The food was great but the customer services was horrible

Yelp
Amazing new spot with the cutest creative flavors of donuts and hotdogs! The hot Cheetos hotdogs have me by a chokehold, everything amazing on a stick. All the flavors are superb, but the blueberry donut has to be my all time favorite. Definitely a must to visit (and there's a cute Japanese knick knacks store right behind!)

Yelp
I was really excited when this Mochinut opened up, and I went there with my friend today to try out their Korean corndogs. We ordered and waited. And waited and waited and waited. After a while the cashier came up to us and asked us for what we ordered - apparently the order was not sent to the back of the restaurant. The cashier also asked if we were warned about the wait time - we weren't. He then went to tell us that we should have been warned that it would take up to 25 minutes for our orders (my roommate and I only ordered 1 corndog each). I understand that they were busy, but that's a very important piece of information to leave out. We even saw people that walked in 10-15 minutes after us get their orders before us. We also weren't told about condiments for our food until our friend ended up going 20 minutes later and finding only ketchup and mustard. I wish we told her about this place a few minutes sooner. At least they gave her a free donut for their mistake whereas we were given nothing. I've been to other Korean hotdog places (like Ssong's Hotdog in Maryland), and Mochinut's quality was worse and had an abysmal variety of sauces and unique drinks compared to Ssong's).
