Flew in from Denver to take my family out to eat at Mochomos. Food was great but was quickly ruined by the bad service. We asked for our bill from a young server named Mario, he quickly gave us attitude and started arguing to us about our bill. This type of behavior at this level of fine dining should not be acceptable…. We have dined at Mochomos before and have noticed the decline in the quality of services. Won’t see us coming back anytime soon..

Took my team out for dinner. we had an amazing time. Service was great, food was delicious. The Mochomos house wine was better than I expected. Will definitely be coming back.

Came to this place for the first time. My wife and I were celebrating our 20 year anniversary. I was very pleased with the service, the food, the taste and the presentation. Overall, it was an awesome experience, would definitely come back. Highly recommend this place.

If you're craving for a nice steak, Mochomo's is your spot. They have table side cocktails, table side steak carving, and table side desserts!! It's a great entertainment while enjoying a great meal. Here we started with their Ribeye Chicharron (CHICHARRONES DE RIB), grilled octopus salad, and aged ribeye (RIB EYE AÑEJO) The steak was super tasty, cooked perfectly to medium (I usually like medium rare but the rest of my party wanted to do medium). We had a great time. The food was excellent and our waiter was very good. I recommend it if you're in Mexicali.

Service was exceptional and food was on par with the best in Vegas! For starters enjoyed the Queso fundido which was mouth watering, paired with both camarones bañados and chicharrón with guacamole! We also asked for the pulpo as an starter. For main course we had the añejo steak, rib eye steak, and the salmon in chipotle. For drinks we had several but the best was the Mediterranean cocktail. For desert we had the chocolate brownie Esfera de chocolate....three...with coffee.

The menu is great because it has many options for a steak. There were 4 of us and all out dishes were delicious and cooked perfectly. The service was great too and catered to our needs (my Tios are older with dementia). The best part was the bill. Best prices for high quality food and service.

There are very interesting Appetizers inside the menu, particularly "Pulpo Bañado" a delight which consists of fried octopus

The experience in terms of ambience and service was a 5/5. The food I would rate a 4/5. Highly recommend "buñuelos de camarón". I'd go back for a special occasion.

Located in Mexicali's Zona Dorada (the golden zone due to that most of the upscale residencial and commercials are located) Mochomo Steak House is one of the best upscale stake house in Mexicali. They specialize in food from state of Sonora. But, the best part is that they brought the meat from Sonora too. "Carne de Sonora" is very well known in Mexico as the best beef available. They grow their cattle with individual care and controlled nutrition to have the best quality beef. Back to the restaurant. I arrived in the afternoon without reservation with 2 other friends (if you come for dinner, I'll definitely recommend to make reservation ahead). The receptionist gave us a very welcome attention and seated us in a round booth. Inside of the place reflected the upscale quality of arrangements. We started with Agua de Pepino, which is a cucumber based drink and was very refreshing. I ordered the Alfredo Salad to share among 3, grilled vegetable (this is not in the menu but, you can order them as side dish) and Rib Eye Tabla. The Salad and grilled veggie was enough to share between 3 of us. Now the Steak, the Rib Eye Tabla comes on a Mesquite Plank with grilled and minced Garlic. I asked for medium and that what exactly I got. The steak was tender and juicy as it should be and topped with the garlic, it was just perfect. The fact that is on top of the Mesquite Plank helps for the steak to keep warm longer and absorbe the mesquite flavor in it. I have been here over a dozen times and I can come 100 times more to get the same steak. Is just awesome. Other plate that I can recommend is the Charred Octopus as appetizer. Is plenty and savory. The fact is located in Mexico, the price is very reasonable. The steak that I ate here will have cost around 55 to 65 dollars in US. Here you pay around 26 dollars. Is a bargain and is great food. Excellent place.

Two years since our last business trip to Mexicali and Mochomos was first on our minds to get dinner. Still has a great ambiance, attentive service and excellent food. Covid protocols required temperature check and hand sanitizer upon entering. An extensive menu with almost a full page of steak options. What was also new to us was the table side cooking with a hot rock and meat carving behind flames. Quite flashy. However we stuck with charred octopus (seasoned and just the right chew for us), spicy aguachile shrimp and beef chicharrones. I had the Mochomos rib eye which was cooked perfectly to a medium. Meat was tender and sauce added a nice tang. The steak potatoes were crisp and combined well with my steak. Glad they maintained all the standards and will keep coming back!

The food is dank, affordable, with great service in an upscale setting. I've been a couple times and found to to be friendly for carnivores and veg heads alike.

Amazing atmosphere if you ever in Mexicali this place is a must try. The service is high end I love how attentive the staff is at all times. This location only serves alcoholic beverages like mix drinks, beer, or wine. I had the sangria then Bacanora mix drink. I love their alcohol drinks their so strong and flavorful. I ordered the Salmon Chipotle Dulce dish it was delicious with amazing sauce that's mouthwatering with every bite. Perfect combination it's a must try and salmon is fresh not can bought. There were a lot of birthday parties at the same time at this location. Must be very popular for their service and high quality food. Overall a pleasant experience I highly recommend a visit.

Dios Mio! I was introduced to Mochomos last week, for "great food, great ambience, and the best chocolate dessert." When you get to the plaza that has Mochomos, you see many shops, including fancy interior decor stores, and Mochomos looks like one of those pretty interior decoration stores, it doesn't come across as a restaurant. Lots of parking in the plaza, muy bueno. At the entrance to the restaurant you're greeted nicely by the host, and you wait in the small but magnificent waiting area that gives you a glimpse into the magical interiors of this restaurant. They have a section that feels like it is outdoors but it is indoors, has a ceiling made of hanging foliage/canopy and fairy lights, it creates a dreamy dinner experience. We unfortunately didn't get seated there since, rightly so, the tables under the canopy get reserved in advance. The service is friendly and fast, though you need to know little Spanish to get by. Looks like Mochomos excels in their meat dishes, of which my party tried many, and enjoyed everything. Food: 1. Tried the appetizer: shrimp in tamarind sauce - small shrimps are served on a bed of cream cheese that is on a chip, and this chip is floating in a sea of deliciously flavored tamarind sauce. The servers will also do certain maneuvers prior to serving this dish for an optimum experience of flavors! 2. Tried salmon with butter sauce and capers - likely the salmon was not wild but I wasn't interested in the vegetarian options that depended on dairy cheese as protein, so opted for the fish. The capers were quite salty in this dish so wasn't quite excited about them but the salmon was cooked to perfection and I enjoyed the spinach on the side. Would be nice if the spinach was steamed though! 3. My party tried several other dishes and all I heard was "excellent!" Desserts: 1. I came here for the "Esphera de chocolate" - a chocolate heaven I only heard about but not experienced. I am not going to talk much about it, all I will say is, if you like chocolate or you don't like chocolate, you MUSTN'T miss the cake experience and flavor of this dessert. 2. Coyota with snow: basically a stuffed cookie/flat sweet empanada served with one scoop of ice cream - delicious! I am a fan and will return when I'm back in Mexicali. Highly recommend!

Excellent service!! Great recommendations from the waiter. My wife got the Totoaba (farm raised) it was a big fillet cooked perfectly. Delicious. I had the cabrerilla medium rare. Spot on delicious. No need for salsa or chimichurri. Very nice spot.

Had complimentary bottles of whisky and gin brought to us sent by a friend of the business. Their medium rare was juicy with perfect portions of meat and tasty fats. Not too much fat that it overwhelms you with chewiness. The mixed drinks were also a highlight. A bartender comes to your table with a cart full of beverage and mixes for you. No need to wait at the bar. I typically like to have my scotch straight, either neat or on the rocks, depending. But the missus ordered for me and what the bartender made was surprisingly delicious. I would definitely come back here again.

This place is lit Great drinks, I had the Cadillac margarita and tried something with absinthe in it, had a great time As is normal in Mexicali the service is great the food was top notch and the environment was excellent Will definitely come back to try more options everything look awesome I had the salmon "perfect " Some appetizer with shrimp and cream cheese woot! Four star because I hav only been here once but definitely a place to go in Mexicali Get your money right don't come here on a budget Party of 7 blew 11k pesos in a couple hours but definitely worth it

Rounding out my work trip to Mexicali, this place was recommended. I saw the people in front on me pause at the door, so I discerned that there was a disinfection protocol. 1. Cantina - thought that the host was joking that we needed to be sprayed down with disinfectant, until... he sprayed us with disinfectant. 2. Cabanna - they had an automatic disinfectant sprayer (think bubble gun) 3. Mochomos - at this point, I jokingly said, "I better get a shower of disinfectant". Lo and behold, a decontamination chamber prior to entry. Everything was delicious here. I started with the Sesame Panela (crispy cheese in sweet sauce) whilst my coworker got the beet tower. I followed my dish with sangria and the Esparragos a la ronca (chicken wrapped asparagus on a bed of saffron rice) and that was fantastic. I would have gotten dessert had I not been so full!

Very good and delicate cuisine, love being able to spend time with my family and friends in places like these.

I give this place 2 stars... 1. We called and made reservations as soon as they opened just to end up sitting next to the bus boys. They kept bumping into our table. 2. As soon as we got there, the man at the door told us to wait outside. That felt rude when they don't have a seating waiting area. We were the only ones outside while everyone else was inside in the cold. 3. I ordered the Kwai fillet... it's supposed to be 3 medallion beef pieces and the first one was either extremely dry or chicken. Wrong order I guess? They demanded a 20% tip when the definition of that is to thank them for providing and extra astounding service... these people just go do their job. They were not knowledgeable about their items... second time I go. Same poor customer service both times.

This is a Sonoran style steak house and if you didn't know Sonora is known for having the best meat in all of Mexico. It is also the best or one of the best style foods depending on who you ask. The locals know that if the restaurant serves Sonoran style it is going to be great food. This is a chain now but it doesn't feel that way. It is also pricey for being Mexico but it's great food with amazing service. It is considered one of Mexicalis high end restaurants and you get an experience while dining there. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu!

Great steak. They do not use a lot of seasoning here. So the steak is not overly salty. The flavor of the meat is the star of the show and it's cooked perfectly. They only give you a small amount of potatoes. If you are a big eater I recommend you get an appetizer.

Buscaba un lugar bonito para tomar algo y echar chisme con mi amiga. Nos encantaron las bebidas, especialmente la de jamaica con mezcal. El aguachile buenisimo! Y los bartenders que nos atendieron super amables y atentos. Deifinitivamente lo recomiendo y estare ahí de nuevo la proxima vez que visite Mexicali.

This place is great! Loved the food and the staff! The desserts and drinks are awesome! Definitely will be back when we visit Guadalajara again. Special thanks to the Manager Oscar for saving our night from being a bad one because of another restaurant (La Madalena) trying to ruin our night with the discriminatory ways they have there.

I was very surprised as soon as I entered the restaurant. It reminded me of a Mastros. This place was very busy and as soon as our group showed up, we were seated right away. Great vibes and the environment was fast paced. Our server or servers were on point and were very very attentive. It was like clock work. Our water was refilled, plates were brought in while dirty plates were taken away. Dirty silverware was taken away and replaced with clean ones, etc, etc. When you don't have to ask for anything except for another drink cocktail, you are having a great day. The food we ordered came out within 10 minutes even though this place was packed! The food was delicious. (Look at pictures) Top notch quality food! Overall, I had a great dining experience! I will definitely be back at this great steakhouse. They are well known for their steak and I was told that the mayor, local politicians, a celebrities frequent this establishment. Nice! Side Note: make sure you know the current currency rate and ask them. The current rate today is 18.50 but the restaurant here was 17.00. That way when you receive the bill, the total peso is divided by the currency rate and you will get the dollar amount.

They moved location, much bigger and more grandiose. Looks like a world class steak house and busy, busy, busy!! Went Monday night about 9 pm, no reservations was told an hour wait so sat at the bar and was about just leave but the server said they have a place for us. As usual great food, don't go in a rush, takes awhile. Just great food!!!!

Recommend reservations, we had a 45 min wait without one on a Friday night. Worth it! Credit cards are accepted. They do not split checks. Formal and casual attire okay. Ambient is lively with music, tv monitors and busy with people. The food is delicious. Our food did not come with sides, except for Atun. Who cares! The meat was cooked to perfection. The alcoholic drinks we got were for lightweights but then again, we got fruity drinks. Service was not great but they were busy. That could be improved. I paid with credit card and waiter asked if I wanted to leave a tip. Don't really like that. Great for going out with friends, special occasions and dates.

Excellent service the service was great waiter was great all their personal is great great service food not good at all it's the most disgusting that I have ever paid for there's a lot a whole lot of bunch of better restaurants in Mexicali then that one if you want to get your money worth go to other ones other steakhouses there's plenty of them in Mexicali but that one the worst I have ever tasted I don't mind paying for good food but I do like to enjoy my food the meat there takes like rubber and it's flooded on Greece I don't recommend you guys spending your money there again service was great food three

Lugar esta grande,la musica no tanto parecía antro, el servicio al cliente estaba 2 3. Y la comida esta mas o menos me decepciono que estaba muy cocido mi rib eye cuando lo pide rojo medio. Esta mas bueno y mejor el Palominos.

I took my wife and daughter here recently based on the current reviews here and a friend who also gave it a good review. The atmosphere was great, but loud. The servers were very professional and prompt. They have menu's in English for us gringos :) The food was muy excellente!! I had the Pork Fillet, which comes wrapped in bacon, topped with mushrooms, and in a sauce that was simply amazing! The wife had salmon, which was also cooked to perfection and my daughter had some beef brusheta (?) what ever it was - it was also great! I'll be back! Excellent service, food, and prices!

Service was slow, steak tasted like it wasn't seasoned and it was very chewy. Won't be coming again.

All I can say is wow this steakhouse blew me away especially being on the border town of Mexicali the food was extraordinary fabulous I had a 600 g ribeye steak aged for 25 days it was a melt in your mouth experience I recommend this steakhouse to anyone who cares for a nice steak should I say an awesome steak

I'm not a big fan of steaks... I eat meat just don't usually order a huge piece of meat. Unless it has great sides to keep me engaged. This place is the only place where I only want the steak. It's sooo amazing. Order the steak mochomo! It's to die for!!! Location It's an upscale place and it's great for accommodating large groups. We had 10 in our group. Very clean with animal heads on the wall (don't bring a vegan friend because I think they are real). Plenty of parking outside. Price Once again coming from LA this place is under priced. My steak was about 10 bucks. For this amazing piece of meat.... At least 30 in la Food The Steak Mochomo!!!! It's the go to!!! The steak is so juicy and I ordered mine medium well. The sauce on the plate is the real secret. It marinates on your plate in addition to what they did to prepare it. Every bite is flavorful and I don't get bored. The only side is a couple of fries which is perfect. As an appetizer we order the guacamole. Everything here is top notch so you can't go wrong. All of my co workers left more than satisfied Service Mexican service is great in most places. Here it's no exception, friendly staff and one of my friends wanted to have their steak cooked a bit more, they didn't make a fuss and you can tell they are all about pleasing their customers. Extras Sauce! That's the difference maker.

This is a great place to have dinner if you are craving steak. Very good food and exceptional service. We started off with some appetizers consisting of cubes of cheese lightly fried and served on a bed of sauce with tortillas on the side. As an entrée, I ordered a very large boneless ribeye steak that was apparently aged for 30 days. I believe the waiter said it was dry aged. It's seemed to have the characteristic low-water content of a dry aged steak, however, the distinctive nutty flavor was not quite there. Nevertheless, it was a very good steak and a relatively good value, given the quality of the meat. The steak was cooked perfectly and served with a side of garlic and chili juerito paste that was prepared at the table by the waiter. I really must re-emphasize the exceptional service we received at this restaurant. The waiters are very professional and attentive. You do not have to wait or "flag" anybody down for attention - it seemed like they were always right there. If you were to twist my arm for a complaint, I would say that my margarita was small. But what the heck am I doing ordering a margarita at a high-quality steak restaurant? This is not a margarita joint! That was clearly my fault, so unless you twist my arm, I will not complain about that. The rest of the drinks looked very good and they had a decent bottled beer selection as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Always so good if you're in the mood for some flavorful sophisticated steak... also if you'd like to mix it up with seafood, you must try the camarón y pulpo al bacanoraand the Moscow mule is a good idea too.

Not so happy here anymore. We walk in, order a beer, get menus... then a group a 8 comes in, they get menus, drinks then they take their orders. So now we are there waiting and waiting and waiting to give our order... then a server just walks up and grabs are menus and walks off... I got the hint, paid the bill for the beer and left. I don't think they want to serve us Americans once they find out you are an American!!? The food is ok but not worth my money since I felt unwelcome

Excellent taste, really good texture, great service, nice music and welcoming presentation. Ice cold beer and great appetizers. Lomo de Cabreria and Fill Almond I recommend the garlic gives it extra flavor.
