Google
This place was awesome. We were skeptical due to it being like a coffee shop. Also, we were looking for a local soul food breakfast spot, but this place did not disappoint. There was a wait, and most the sitting area is outside, but it was worth it. They offer spirits if you want a stiffer drink. I had the Chicken and waffles, with cheese grits and Strawberry Mimosa. I have no complaints at all.

My husband and I just visited Bay St. Louis for the first time and found this little cafe while exploring. He got a chai latte, and the 2nd St Breakfast Sandwich (I think that's what it's called). I got a coffee and the pork and grits. If you have never been here, YOU GOTTA GO! It is located in an older building giving you that hometown, mom-and-pop feel. They have artwork from different artists decorating the inside of the restaurant, and all pieces are available for purchase. The staff was very sweet and our food/coffee was ready very fast! Everything was fresh, hot, seasoned, and delicious! When we come back, this will be a regular spot for us.

Great food and drink options. Dirty chai and peppermint lattes were good, and hash brown bowl and biscuit & gravy with chicken were excellent.

Google
Quaint eatery right in the heart of the city. Be prepared for a long line to order food! They do let you order online and pick up in the back, but we opted to wait. The wait is worth it though, as the food here is incredible. The summer garden burger was crispy and refreshing, probably the best vegetarian burger I've ever had. The aioli complemented it perfectly. The Belfast Breakfast was also delicious and can best be described as a boozy frappucino.

Google
We all enjoyed our coffee, biscuit sandwiches, and waffles. Nice atmosphere and kid friendly. They also have local art on walls for purchase . Prices are very reasonable . Will definitely visit again.

Long line but they move pretty quick. The food and coffee are good. Love the outdoor seating area.

Comfortable Locale, Mixed Service Experience Mockingbird Cafe in Bay St. Louis offers a cheerful, local-favorite vibe that captures the essence of a small-town gathering spot. The cafe is generally buzzing with a friendly atmosphere, making it a pleasant spot for a casual meal. On the food front, the dishes are commendable. The biscuit with gravy and chicken was hearty and satisfying, the avocado toast topped with a fried egg was prepared well, and the Wonderland salad was fresh and flavorful. Each dish was prepared with care and contributed to a very good dining experience. However, I found the service setup less than ideal for my preferences, especially during the weekend. The need to order at the counter, which had a lengthy 25-minute line, detracted from the relaxed weekend breakfast experience I was looking forward to. During weekdays, the requirement to order via web or phone also detracts from the traditional dining experience where one can disconnect from the devices for an hour and can order directly from a human being. Overall, Mockingbird Cafe is a charming spot worth visiting for its quality food and warm ambiance, though be prepared for a less conventional service method that may not appeal to everyone.

Google
We had the breakfast burrito and a breakfast sandwich. They were perfect. Normally I get anxious about ordering before I have a place to sit down but there was plenty of space for everyone. Hoping I can eat here again tomorrow.

Yelp
Wonderful Coffee Shop. I walked here both mornings from the inn. Super Friendly Staff. Great working space if needed. Lots of delicious options.

Yelp
Mockingbird Cafe: 11-2-2024 @ 8:00 a.m. Rating = 2 FOOD: X2 Biscuits and Gravy (B&G) - Burnt piece of unknown bread but it was NOT a biscuit! That was the consensus around our table - Tasteless, No Salt or Pepper, and whatever sausage they were using had no flavor! Except my wife said she tasted garlic in the gravy! - Ordered egg on the side but the egg came on top of the B&G Waffles: Wife ordered the waffles with "Berries & Cream" and stated they were OK, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. COFFEE: The Huge Cup of Coffee was excellent THE SERVICE: Well! I've seen more smiles at a funeral than at this place! It appeared the staff was "Robot Like" in their movements! Maybe they were just tired or the BIG ONE - Maybe they just didn't like their Jobs's! Everyone was Sullen! No smiles, No Please and Thank You! My qualifications as an Expert and Experienced Food and Service Critic; I have a BS in Management and have been trained in two Culinary Schools, to include on the job training at other venues. I've managed full service as well as fast food restaurants and have had my own successful Catering business. As a Trainer, I have trained personnel on how to provide superb cuisine and customer service. At the age of 77, I am now retired and enjoy being on the other side of the Apron.

Yelp
Great food and atmosphere. I have enjoyed breakfast and lunch. This cafe has been a local favorite since Hurricane Katrina.

Yelp
I am shocked that as many times as I've visited Bay St. Louis I had not eaten at the Mockingbird Café, but it is AMAZING! From the original wooden floors, the fun art covered walls, to the delicious food and drinks. I ate there with my husband and son last week. I ordered a dirty chai and the meat breakfast burrito with sriracha mayo and salsa. My husband ordered a macchiato. My son had a scrambled egg and fruit cup. The dirty chai, which is chai tea with espresso is HEAVENLY! The breakfast burrito was stuffed full, fresh, hot, flavorful, and enough for two people. My husband loved that they knew how to make an original macchiato. My son ate everything on his plate without hesitation. The drinks were made within 3 minutes and the food was out in about 6 minutes. It was so delicious that we ate breakfast there two mornings in a row. Rating from F to A+++, I give it an A+++! We will definitely be back.

Yelp
I have been here several times on my vacation to the area and really enjoy their coffee and their breakfast. Everything always takes so gourmet and the place is a local staple in the area. Should you encounter a long line that you have to patiently wait through, it's worth it. They have a variety of drinks coffee, hot and cold. A various offering under menu for those who may be vegan or just like lighter options. Their jam is the jam so try some on those great biscuits. They have some seating inside but alot outside on all sides of the front. Great for people watching as those golf carts go by. Be back soon...

Lesli F.

Yelp
The food. The atmosphere. Quaint. Cozy. Groovy. Good food. Good mimosas. We were in town for the Witchy Walk and needed some breakfast! picked this place.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Stopped on while visiting. This cafe is set in a beautiful old home repurposed into a cafe. It has a 4 sided fireplace which is super cool. Seating is inside and outside. Food is fresh. A little pricy but food is fresh. Close to local shops to walk to. Parking can be kind hard to find if they are busy right by cafe but there is some right down the road. Nothing bad to say about this place.

Yelp
Mockingbird Cafe is a great spot to grab a bite to eat or a tea or coffee to keep you going. After a lot of exploring and shopping in Bay St. Louis, we stopped for a late lunch. The café is in a house converted to café--really cute and casual with seating inside and out. Place your order at the bar and your food is delivered to your table. Service was a bit slow the day we were there, but the veggie Burger I ordered was great. The patty is made in house and was delicious! The lavender tea I ordered was so refreshing with a slight taste/scent of lavendar. I hope I get a chance to eat there again before I leave BSL!

Kevin H.

Yelp
This was the best place we visited our in 3-day trip to Bay St Louis. The breakfast was great! Good drinks too with some live music on the Saturday we went. The vibe and service are extremely friendly.

Sara S.

Yelp
I LOVE THE MOCKINGBIRD. It is a local staple of Bay St Louis. Friendly service. Great food. Even better coffee! I love their blueberry muffins and my favorite drink is their iced chai latte. They do breakfast and lunch foods- all made to order and their homemade biscuits are YUM!! Everything is made and served with love. I will always make the Mockingbird a stop when I'm home.

Beth P.

Yelp
Having thought about it, would rate it zero stars if I could. The service is a joke- big attitude for terrible service. So. Much. Attitude. Food is not good. I feel like if someone opened a real cafe down the street with actual good food and real table side service, the mockingbird might actually try a little bit to be friendly and good. They need competition in a big way.

Jerrica C.

Yelp
I RAN to drop a review. I work night shift and needed a pick me up. The girls here were fabulous. Between their cocktails, coffee and pistachio cake I am not sure which one I was more impressed with. This place will be on my forever list.

Leslie T.

Yelp
The Avocado toast was generous and delicious. I loved the fresh fruit tasty bite! Super cute inside but a little loud so I was grateful for outside seating.

Yelp
First of all, I was invited here for breakfast by a friend. The restaurant is in an old converted house, so it's a hodgepodge of rooms with tables. A couple of tables on the front porch and sidewalk. You have to order at the counter and pay, put a number at your table and someone brings the food. They have "art" (means different things to different people) on the walls that can be purchased. The tables were all clean and being cleaned while we were there. It was scrumptiously clean. The menu had a variety without being overwhelming, but it's hard to be creative with breakfast. The food and amount was meh. Waffles were good, biscuits and gravy not so much. Gravy had a very strange spice or flavor that I could not quite place. The coffee was good (meaning not weak). No effort expended for presentation. Not going to lie, but I mainly wouldn't go back because of the atmosphere, not because the food was terrible. I'm not into the "hey let's open a restaurant in an old house, and get one of our friends to sell their art there, vibe".

Scott C.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to go in Bay St Louis. Great food and drinks, friendly service, and great atmosphere inside and outside.

Kevin C.

Yelp
I ordered the Pulled Pork and Grits, a Bloody Mary, and a Dirty Chai (to go) for breakfast and it was amazing. Everyone here is always friendly and the service is great. The atmosphere in this historic old home is a low-key hustle and bustle... if that makes sense? Not loud but busy. You'll find that sometimes other patrons are more than willing to engage in conversation and there is most likely a dog or two in need of scratches. Don't pass this place up.

Kathleen L.

Yelp
Yelp does not forget. I must have started a review in 2022 and forgot to post. It read, "The Scout was great. The fresh chips were delicious. As for husband, he got chicken and waffles. He wasn't impressed. The chicken is a breast (fried, but he thought reheated) and ordinary waffle. Nothing significant." In 2024, Mockingbird remains a 3 star experience. Our order was quickly taken and drinks were served, but we waited 45 minutes for a boiled egg (Treehouse Special), a bagel, and a bowl of granola cereal. As we went to the restroom before heading out, guests were freaking out on staff regarding the half hour wait for advocado toast. It was an experience and not a 5 star one either go round...

Bailey J.

Yelp
First time trying the Mockingbird Cafe. The atmosphere is cozy & home-y. The baristas who rang us up were so friendly & helpful. We both had a turmeric latte iced, highly recommend if you're into a different kind of pick me up. Entree wise we both got sandwiches. The scout & the Atticus sandwiches. My favorite addition of the two were the cranberry orange mustard on the Atticus, & the ancho sauce and avocados on the scout. All & all a very good experience we're excited to come back and try breakfast next!

Marie R.

Yelp
Enjoyed the food. Ambience really swanky. Kind of pricey but, worth it. Sometimes there's wait depending your time of arrival. I would definitely go back also highly recommend this place! Give this place 9 out of 10

Andi F.

Yelp
Come in, order and pay at the counter, get a number and pick a seat. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I got the breakfast fries, which is fries, house made sausage gravy and a fried egg. It was amazing. Good service, reasonable prices.

Boba T.

Yelp
This is one of the absolute best places you could think to go! Not only are the food and drink options phenomenal, but the staff is always so kind and attentive. The art and ambience of the shop making everything feel so homey. It's the perfect place to sit outside (or inside) and enjoy a cup of coffee or a bite to eat!

Mary Louise B.

Yelp
If I could leave a half a star I would. The kids waffle is the size of a cocktail napkin and they are $6.00. No fruit or sides with it whatsoever. I frequent upscale cafes and I've never been more insulted by an "upscale" cafe experience. Coffee rani has a menu along the same lines but more upscale and they would never bring such small portions out. I feel like this place does it "because they can" and what kind of character is that? They also charge .25 cents for salsa instead of including it with the breakfast burrito which was ordered. We will not come back to this place. It's unjustifiable prices for small portions and the vibe here is extremely subpar. They do this because of location and just because they can. Never again.

Ron S.

Yelp
Me and my husband stopped in for breakfast is a small quaint little restaurant in the heart of town. We had the egg sandwich which was on brioche bun she had a latte. I had the regular old normal coffee. We would highly recommend this place.

Beth H.

Yelp
Limited parking, eclectic decor and style. You place your order at the counter and find a seat (if you're eating) , service is friendly. We had the hash brown bowl and a biscuit w/ their homemade peach jam. The biscuit and jam were both great. The hash brown bowl had a lot of curry, like ... a lot! Overpowered the entire thing. If you didn't know there were peppers and onions in there you'd have never tasted them. Good, if you like a LOT of curry.

Keisha P.

Yelp
Quaint and cozy atmosphere. Outstanding coffee and food. I have the pull pork and grits!!! Dee-lish! Chef's kiss!!! ‍

Latrina R.

Yelp
This was amazing. So cute so open and free feeling. The coffee was amazing. My food was also good, but was second to the coffee! The atmosphere and the people were all so warm and inviting.

Kate F.

Yelp
Mockingbird is a gem! Coffees, lattes, and bloodies! Great menu with freshly cooked food! You may wait a little bit, but it is worth it! It is in downtown Bay St Louis, so we go walk around to visit all the antique stores too!

Robert C.

Yelp
Great experience! I enjoyed brunch. The biscuits and gravy was delicious and I added an egg which was cooked perfectly!!

Michael W.

Yelp
Great food and great little gem downtown. Nice sitting outside on a summer day and still staying cool in the shade. Great breakfast.

Cassie C.

Yelp
Such a cute and eclectic cafe in an adorable, artistic small town! Mockingbird Cafe fire in right with the whole Bay St. Louis vibe. Plus, they have super tasty drinks and food! If you want a coffee drink with different flavors then you're used to, then come here! I had lunch with my family and all of our food looked great. I personally had a blood Orange mimosa and the fried chicken sandwich - so good! The fried chicken had a delicious flavor in the breading, and the honey sriracha added an extra element of flavor. I really enjoyed it and so many other things on the menu sounded great, too! I'll definitely wanna come back here next time I'm visiting the area! I recommend it whether you're just looking for a quick drink, treats too go, or a full sit down meal.

Justin M.

Yelp
Would have given five stars but the matcha lemonade was not made well. Bunch of matcha balls floating and clumpy. The food is great the coffee is great. Had biscuit with homemade peach jam, might be better than my sisters and that's hard to do. Nice little spot

Re H.

Yelp
Oh heck yeah, this lady boss owned place is the cat's meow for certain. A quick glance at the menu and we decided on Breakfast burrito, French Toast, a side of bacon, cold brew and coffee. We put in our menu and then scurried to the side bar/area to wait. I decided to take in the art for sale while our food was being prepared for take out. Several rooms in this converted home made for cute little dining areas and mini art collections. Besides the interior dining spaces, there was a huge outdoor area that would be nice during these Covid years. A nice sign outside said please wear a mask, but there are still jerkholes who do whatever they want. Ugh to be a retail business owner during these times. We decided last minute to grab 2 berry muffins, it was one of the best impulse decisions we've ever made. They called our number and we were out the door tout suite. At our Airbnb, we enjoyed our food and I forgot to grab photos as we were too busy gobbling......but then.....the muffins! Someone on here claimed it was the best muffin they've ever had, uh yeah it was! Next time, we'll dine in.....for certain!

Che L.

Yelp
Fun flavors and unique local spot. Wish they had more indoor seating. The blonde latte was tasty

David E.

Yelp
Great place to grab lunch! Food was great and service was good. Prices were reasonable! Give them a try you won't regret it!

Dan C.

Yelp
Great food, attentive service which made breakfast pleasant. Something different compared to basic breakfast options

Richard C.

Yelp
Great food, drink la and very friendly people- highly recommend- stay away from overpriced food on main drag and come here.

Gabrielle H.

Yelp
During our family thanksgiving trip, we stayed in Bay St Louis and walked over to the Mockingbird Cafe. The cafe vibe is warm and welcoming. We had the avocado toast, breakfast burrito and pulled pork and grits. Everyone loved their breakfast and the lattes we ordered. This spot will be a regular for me when I'm in town. I'm going back this morning for a latte and some cute gifts for friends at home. I love the art displayed for sale, unfortunately it's too high priced for me. Other than that, I love everything about Mockingbird Cafe!

Kelsey M.

Yelp
I'd say the food is just alright but the coffee and atmosphere is great! Very friendly staff, and a cute place to have brunch. My husband was disappointed with his meal (it said fried egg but was very sunny side up) and I was not impressed with mine, although didn't hate it, I'd be willing to try maybe something else here next time or maybe just get coffee.

Emily V.

Yelp
I loved this place so much I went twice! I went first for lunch one weekday. I tried the fried chicken sandwich with a fruit cup and the matcha latte. All were great! Then I went back for breakfast and tried the belgian waffle with berries and cream. It was also delicious! The atmosphere was really cute inside and the food came out fast despite the amount of people there. I would go again to try more of their menu.

Brandi B.

Yelp
We ate breakfast here while staying in Bay St Louis. I ordered the blended coffee with peppermint and collagen, as well as the croissant with bacon, egg, and cheese. They did not skimp on the bacon, which I appreciate. There was a line when we arrived, but it moved quickly. The cafe has self-seating and they ask that you self-bus the table when you're done. There's local art on the walls. We actually ate here, then went browse the antique shops, then returned for lavender lemonades (definitely try them out - so refreshing in this summer heat!)

Louis P.

Yelp
Pleasant small eatery with limited breakfast menu. Fair prices. Great service. Surprised the breakfast hash did not include corned beef. Maybe I didn't pay close enough attention to menu description.

Vicki R.

Yelp
very good food with a very casual atmosphere....great hamburgers and muffins...very casual and fun.

Kim D.

Yelp
Great little cafe! Excellent coffees. Friendly service. Fresh and tasty food. Expect to wait a bit on the weekend.

karen C.

Yelp
we eat there every year while at Crusin the coast Great coffee Quaint atmosphere Tasty breakfast

Sandie M.

Yelp
Cool funky place and coffee was great! My avocado toast was cold though. Servers were very friendly. We will try it again soon!

LaCora H.

Yelp
Yayyyy for turmeric! A Golden Turmeric latte. Sweetened with vanilla, a pinch of turmeric, tastes like Chai. Mmmmmm!! So happy they offer non-dairy options so my friend could enjoy a hot chocolate alongside me.

Keena H.

Yelp
Great freshly prepared food! Ambiance was very pleasing and service was great. One of my favorite places.

Tam S.

Yelp
This is a favorite spot for breakfast and sometime lunch when I'm visiting. I love the clean and flavorful food options, great coffee, and art displayed by local artists. They also make their own muffins and other treats that are very tasty. Definitely not a greasy spoons of the South by any means. It's such a cute creative space that anyone (not just creatives) will enjoy.

Megan L.

Yelp
I love coffee shops and I love them even more when they are delicious. These fine ladies make all of their syrups in house. I have had: Yogurt Parfait with house made peach jam & house made granola. I prefer a crunchy granola, this one was more chewy but had great flavor. The avocado toast was good; I added an over easy egg to it. I love myself some goat cheese! I also tried the Scout sandwich and added goat cheese to it- very good. I had an Iced Vanilla Latte multiple days in a row- so, so good! I also had the Mango Iced Tea with a little lemonade. The women here are all so nice and helpful! I definitely recommend this place!
