MOD Coffeehouse

I have to be honest here: if there are any other coffee houses in Galveston it wouldn’t matter because there’s only one MOD and the coffee, nibbles, staff, friendliness, artful environment, MOD swag, community bulletin boards, post office street aura, people watching value, and the presence of an abundance of canines makes this the only place to be. Rather it makes it the only place you’ll wanna be. It is a daily ritual after I hit the beach to hit MOD. Oh, and Pro Tip here: you’re gonna wanna pay for two hours of parking so just go ahead and do it. If you wanna check out the bookstore next-door, the Witchery, are any of the several fine art shops, you can always add more time. 👍🏻 On this particular visit I had my usual, which consists of a Cubano mocha and a survivor bar (pictured). Insanely delicious together! Sometimes I just have a doppio Cubano espresso. If you’re unfamiliar with a Cubano, it’s is an espresso draw which has a little brown turbanado sugar in the espresso puck with the coffee grind. It’s Magnifico! And if you’re also unfamiliar with the survivor bar, boy are you in for a treat! It’s essentially the everything bar: coconut, raisins, chocolate chips, oatmeal, cranberries, apricots, almonds, peanut butter chips, and pecans—all packed down into a dense, chewy, chunky, sweet, delicious block. I don’t always get the Survivor Bar, because sometimes I get breakfast somewhere else—but when I *do* get the survivor bar, I am *never* disappointed! Come on down and take your pick of terrific seats inside under the tall ceilings and fans or dine alfresco under the shaded pergola out front and take in pets with their folks and the murals on the walls across the street. I give it 999 stars! I think you will too.

This place gets 100 out of 10 for vibe. Inside is great, super chill, but outside is perfection! Exactly what I look for when I want to sit outside and read. There's a huge covered area full of beautiful vines if you want to get out of the sun. Lots of seating inside and out. I got the seasonal latte and it was great! I'll definitely try to get back here any time I'm in town.

Pretty good actually. Friendly staff and fast service. Thought it was a but expensive for a coffee and pumpkin cake think, but maybe that’s normal today. It was quite good though so overall I was happy. I would go again and I can recommend this place.

This is always my favorite coffee shop whenever I come to town. The drinks are fantastic and the staff are always kind. The coffee itself is well balanced and not bitter, theres a wide variety of flavor options, and tons of milks to choose from as well. The teas are also scrumptious. The baked goods are divine and I was lucky enough to grab a lemon lavender cookie yesterday. Which was heavenly. They've got a good selection of baked items and other snacks as well.

I stopped by MOD Coffeehouse in Galveston and got a Caramel Dream Hot Chocolate and a cheesecake bar. The hot chocolate was creamy with just the right amount of caramel, and the cheesecake bar was really tasty too. Everything hit the spot. The place has a nice, laid-back vibe, and the people working there were super friendly and made me feel welcome. I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in town.

MOD? More like MID. Nah I'm playing. My family and I came in while on vacation and MOD has a really cool vibe. It's very well decorated and the ladies behind the counter do a decent job. The coffee was meh, but the food was actually really good. I'd probably visit it again because the physical atmosphere is actually really well crafted. Kudos to those who spent a lot of time on that! Definitely gotta step up those Barista skills though. Frfr, no 🧢

Probably one of the best coffee places on the island. They have a drink called “Just trust me” it was the barista’s choice. Think of it as the mystery box of coffee drinks. It’s was the best choice, because it helped with the decision of choosing between all the amazing drinks. You the place was good when the line was out the door by the time we left.

Excellent coffee! Great for people with all sorts of preferences. Their specialty coffee is great for those who like their drinks more like Starbucks but they also nail the basics (like cappuccinos and macchiatos) as well. Their iced vanilla latte with an extra shot of espresso was to die for! Perfect combo of vanilla and caffeine without being too milky. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating (can get crowded on the weekends), not too loud, the line is never long, and the baristas are super knowledgeable and kind. Already looking forward to coming back!

Decent coffees. I got the seasonal great pumpkin latte and it smell good. The pumpkin syrup is made in house. Matcha latte comes unsweetened. If I have to give a constructive feedback, perhaps the baristas can be a little bit friendlier? Both of them seem very unhappy and was annoyed with every question I had (and mind you, I only asked 2 questions to confirm the drinks...). It was crowded though, perhaps they were just stressed out.

Cute cute outdoor seating area in front of shop. Love they have specialty coffee drinks that are different. Lots of indoor seating to hang out. I created my own latte of vanilla, honey, & cinnamon sugar, a combination of the honey bee (vanilla & honey) and vanilla bean (vanilla & cinnamon sugar). I don't like sweet coffee drinks. The barista mentioned their drinks are made half as sweet as Starbucks. The barista assured me they proportion the honey, cinnamon sugar & vanilla to equal the same amount of sweetness as if it was just vanilla. The drink was quite good. Not too sweet & still able to taste the robustness of the coffee. In addition to the standard coffee drinks, they have several unique lattes that contain ingredients such as lavender, honey, cayenne, & toffeenut & cinnamon sugar. Good place to come & try some of their specialties.

I stopped by here earlier today with my family for our morning coffee. Mid Coffeehouse is located on Postoffice St in Galveston and has plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. Inside, there are a couple of coolers full of drinks and a display case stocked with pastries and other goodies. After looking over the menu, I ended up ordering a large hot Hummingbird Latte while my wife went with a large iced version. I also liked the looks of the jalapeño kolache and got one for myself, while both of my kids ordered brownies that turned out to be espresso brownies. We waited about 10 minutes from the time we entered until we got our drinks and headed out. I ate the kolache while we waited and thought it was pretty good. The sausage had a slight spice and a good flavor while the bun was soft and a bit sweet. Both of my twins also enjoyed their brownies and ate most of them. As for my coffee, I thought it was good overall. The mix of coconut, lavender, and raspberry was an interesting one, though the lavender came through a bit stronger than I would have liked. Whenever I could taste the coffee itself, it was nice, but it was mostly hidden behind the flavorings. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I enjoyed my latte and kolache here, and my twins enjoyed their brownies, so why not

Very, very nice latte... Down in the strand District of Galveston surrounded by art galleries. Worth a stop if you're in this part of town. The staff was super pleasant.

Great coffee and specialty drinks! There's a good amount of indoor space. But the outdoor space is even better with the full cover shade. The baristas have nose rings so you know it will be good.

Really nice staff and quick service. The place is busy but it didn't feel rushed at all. We got our coffees and sat outside, it was nice under a shade covered in greens, even though it was hot and humid outside.

An island staple, if you know you know! Great pastries and super unique coffeehouse vibe! Peanut butter bars are the BOMB!

The service was okay, I can't pinpoint a moment that was necessarily bad. The matcha was really good very well made not too sweet. Unfortunately i was kind of full and did finish it. Overall I went around 8 am on a Saturday morning and it was so peaceful to sit outside and talk. The outdoor area is so nice and the weather was perfect that day! Great location

One of my favourite coffee houses in town! You can get a different drink all month and not be disappointed by any of them. The service is always great and you can't beat their outdoor seating... especially when the jasmine is in bloom!

I just wish yall was dog friendly. Website says you are but nothing there indicates it and the signage seems to discourage dogs. Galveston is pretty dog friendly....why isn't mod more dog friendly?

Beautiful ambiance, great staff and coffee tastes awesome. When you first walk in you get hit with the beautiful coffee aroma.

First of all, how thrilled am I that my favorite barista Coffey is back? Place still feels looks and smells the same and that's thing I appreciate about Mod. Same high quality drinks and great service but is always the same place with a non pretentious vibe. The dream bar was still delicious after all of these years and I've been coming there for a long time, over 20 years to be exact. Wait is that even right? Has it been around that long? Appreciate the new section with the games and toys and all of the natural light that comes into it. Also a big fan of the fact that they use Toast for their rewards so we can keep everything together and keep track of it on one app. Lots of seating inside and out and still enjoying all of our delicious coffees from there.

Tried a green mint latte from here with soy milk. The mint was very balanced with the coffee. The espresso tasted smooth as well. Solid drink. The place is quite beautiful on the outside... didn't feel like I was in Galveston! Love the flowers!

This is located in the post office district of Galveston island. Several blocks of different shops and restaurants makes for a great family fun day. Parking is mostly street parking which can be challenge if you are wanting a spot close by. This coffee shop has two rooms. Right when u walk in you are met with seating and counter to order food and drinks. They do have smoothies and tea if coffee or caffeine is not your jam. I had their gonzo hot and it was giving warm hugs. But OMG that vegan zucchini bread was mouth watering. I wish I got more than 1 slice but balance and moderation won over gluttony. Next time for sure! The next room offered a lot more seating which makes for a great study/work environment. There is a lovely corner with a small couch and games for all ages. My little ones had a great time with the toys. There was a small line and lots of orders but the turn around time was fast. Whatever their process is, it is working and other places could learn from them. Grab yourself a beverage and stay a bit or take it with you while you check out all the other shops in the district.

Galveston has become a second home for us. This is the only place i visit every time we head to our beach house. Their coffee and their baked goods are really unique and yummy. My favorite drink is called JUST TRUST ME. The name itself already got me! I recently tried their cinnamon coffee cake and it was pretty amazing! The top of the cake had an unforgettable crumble. My only complaint is that i needed more of it.

Coffee was great with lots of options. Had a few outdoor seats as well. It's street parking which was hard to find other than that no complaints. Didn't have to wait long once I put the order in.

Ambiance: (5/5) Great seating (indoor and outdoor). There is also a side room where you can go and sit. The decor was great too. This would be a good place to work. Price: (3/5) Price was a bit expensive ($10 for one slice of coffee cake and a large coffee that compares to a grande/medium at Starbucks). Food: (4/5) I got the surprise me latte and it was really good. I got it with whole milk and ice. It had a toasty flavor that I can put my finger on. I would have loved to try more here. Service: (5/5) Even though it was pretty busy in the morning, our coffee came out pretty quick.

We visited a little after noon, and it was pretty busy inside, so we couldn't find a seat. I tried a smoothie, and it was delicious! The customer service was decent. We ended up sitting outside to study, but unfortunately, there were no outlets available. That said, the atmosphere was lovely. The outdoor area is beautifully shaded by plants, providing a nice escape from the sun, and the inside is cozy with a unique vibe. Overall, it's a beautiful coffee shop, and I'll definitely return when I'm in Galveston.

I came to Mod a lot during my year living in Galveston. It's very cute and has a lively ivy awning/canopy. Great spot for studying, catching up with friends, or reading a good book. While I could always count on Mod's pastries, their drinks were severely lacking to me. Like most of Galveston's coffee shops, Mod's specialty/latte beverages are very very sweet. I even think they used pre-sweetened matcha for a time--a big no-no for me! If you're like me and would prefer to eat your sweets, then your drink options will be limited to more concentrated espresso drinks or tea--a lot fewer options than what the menu provides and showcases. I also think the friendliness of their staff is hit-or-miss. I have thankfully never received direct sass from any of them, but there were a few times where I would try to use the Mod app for rewards only to be met with subtle annoyance by the staff. My guess for this is because the app's point-redemption feature or its other benefits like "birthday rewards" rarely works. As an ex-waitress, I would be annoyed too if our systems were frequently not working for people. But don't take this out on the customers! Anyway, Mod provided an upbeat, hipster-like place to sit back and relax. Out of all of Galveston's coffee shops, this one has the best ambience!

Mod has tasty brewed coffee and delicious treats. We sat outside by the jasmine and enjoyed the fragrant blooms and the lovely spring weather.

MOD Coffeehouse's motto is "for the love of coffee and the community" and I think it's befitting! This coffee shop is in the heart of downtown Galveston, located alongside art galleries and sponsors local events such as Art Walk. The inside is warm and inviting with ample seating for studying or chatting with folks. They also have outdoor seating. Moreover, they host talks from local scientists at UTMB, and have sidewalk sessions featuring local artists. Something special about MOD that I think speaks volumes to their community-mindedness and lack of judgment is that they have a fridge of free naloxone in case someone is experiencing an opioid overdose. In Texas, where this is an ongoing issue, I think that this harm reduction approach shows how much they are looking out for others! They also have a little free library. Onto their food and drinks, I would highly recommend their pastries -- especially the lavender scone, carrot cake cookie, and blueberry muffin. I love their London fog drink wise. They have an amazing rewards program where they give you $5 off your drink or food during your birthday month. Today I went in and the sweet barista gave me my chai freeze (delicious!) and offered me a free blueberry muffin. The muffin was fresh, warm, and scrumptious. I love MOD and will be back soon! Aww

Mod has the best outdoor seating of any coffee shop on Galveston's east end! There are extensive flavor options, and I ordered a small iced latte with raspberry.

MOD is a great coffee shop in The Strand that we drop into just about every time we are on the island. Coffee drinks, teas, smoothies, pastries, and some other snackies... You can order online to "skip the line," they have a rewards program, and they also have lovely patio seating - complete with a pergola drenched in flowers. Their space features local art (they also participate in Art Walk), and there's an adjacent room with a lot of seating and patrons playing board games. Only area from improvement I see are two things: The matcha is pre-sweetened, so you can't opt to order a matcha without it. And what I hope to see there - and other establishments - is to do away with plastic straws and other unnecessary plastics. Other than that, it's a great local business we love supporting.

I have always seen this charming cute coffeehouse when I have visited Galveston. Today 6/7/25, I finally had the opportunity to try it. There was a longer line which gave me a false sense of success. I asked about two different coffee drinks. The Barista answered in a bored way. While I waited for my drink, I admired the ambiance of the shop. The worker who created my coffee latte, mumbled something and when i asked him if this was so and so drink- he just mumbled something under his breath and dismissed me. I also tried a slice of banana bread. This was the worst coffee I have ever had, it barely had any taste. The banana bread pastry was dry and tasteless. My total bill for one coffee and one slice of banana bread was $13.14!!!!! will never come here again. poor customer service and terrible coffee and pastry.

We stopped in for a shot of espresso to get our morning going. We love their location-if you take a cruise, they are a five minute walk away from the docks. Easy to get to! We loved that they featured local art that benefits charity, as well as having lots of gifts and food to go as well as the option of dining in. This is a charming coffee shop and we were very comfortable here-our visit was short and sweet. We enjoyed the espresso.

Stopped to grab a chai latte and some pastries on a weekday afternoon. The line wasn't too long, and everyone was kind at the register! There are two large rooms with a variety of seating. A lot of customers were working, but there were some empty tables available! Chai latte was great and not too sweet. The banana nut bread was fluffy and soft!

Still love this place, charming, games for adults and kids, great neighborhood vibe and delicious coffee. Had the Caramel Vanila Latte. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating - it's our fav coffee on this side of town.

This is a cute coffeeshop with a lot of different drink options. It's pretty spacious with a lot of seating inside and outside. I got the Holly which I really enjoyed.

cute little coffee shop with plenty of seating. drinks are a bit expensive, but worth trying. matcha isn't the best but their coffee is delicious. drinks are done in a timely manner & staff are friendly. there's street parking, but usually it's all taken. your best bet is to just park in a nearby garage or lot and walk.

I came here to get work done for the day, and I wish I had done this sooner during my week in Galveston. I got the bottomless tea, and I really liked this option because it was affordable, and I had something to sip on the entire day because of the free refills. The hibiscus tea is great. There is plenty of outdoor and indoor seating. And the best part - I didn't have trouble finding an outlet! The music can be a bit loud, but they have a great playlist, so I didn't mind. But just a heads up - the bathroom sink is hilariously tiny. Overall, I would for sure come by to work again if I am in the area.

Nice place to get your Joe on. Plenty of seating inside and out. They do know their coffee unlike that famous chain. I ordered a Cortado and they made it splendidly. They have bites for sale which make snacking fun. I would go there again once I am back on the Strand.

Very charming, cute place. Love the hip, garden atmosphere. I tried the hummingbird. It was different but I'm glad i tried it. Sitting outside was so peaceful. The birds requested crumbs and people brought their dogs to sit and sip on their coffee. Just a great ambiance.

This place was very cute and cozy feeling, but the service wasn't the best. The barista taking my order was rude and not very welcoming.

I'm not a big coffee drinker, but I can see why people like this place. The outdoor seating area is very pretty with an overhead vine area which provides lots of shade. The inside of the shop is also decorated well. They have several spots to sit and chat. There's also a connecting room with a more hidden space for privacy. The smell inside is wonderful. They have a variety of drinks to order. The service was great.

Studying staple in Galveston. Ample seating and charging. My favorites are the mod freeze (caramel) and carrot cake cookie (SO GOOD).

Long lines, but well worth the wait to get your caffeine fix in the morning. My husband had the almond joy late and I got the honeybee late. I have to say... I think I won. The honeybee late was amazing and just the thing I needed to start the day. I love the area the shop is in as well. Cute seating inside and the most beautiful ivy gazebo outside. Perfect way to start the day!

Love this place so much, every-time I'm in Galveston I have to stop here. Their coffee is great and they have a lot to choose from, the service is always quick and friendly and I just love their patio. It's so nice and relaxing outside. I highly recommend this place!

The outside seating is the best! Cool and breezy, get here early to get one of these outdoor seats. Tried the espresso con panna (espresso with whipped cream) and it was lovely. Drip coffee was so so. Too strong for my taste

Ben and Carter are the baker's on most of their treats here. FYI (I always wondered who made them) Today because the ice cream shop (hey Mikey's) was closed, (sad face) I came here for sweets. Chef Mary Bass from LaCocina also has some of her pastries and spreads here too, which are fabulous. Got a green tea mango peach slushie, cinnamon pecan crumb cake and be a lemon bar. The crumb cake, hella yeah! It had a huge amount of cinnamon sugar JOY on top which (in my book) is the way to do it! The lemon bar? Way too much pastry. Will just eat the top of it. They sell Katz coffee from Houston (whole bean) yeah! (Patty Cake's bakery sells it too)

This place has a great outside atmosphere. The staff is attentive. The wait is minimal. Living in the area however, I skip it. It's overpriced and the coffee is just no good in my opinion. Starbucks is the better option, I would compare MOD to their Sumatra offering, but less flavor and more burnt. I really wanted this to be a good coffee shop, the area is fun and artsy, but again it's the actual coffee that leaves something to be desired. Burnt was my first and second impression, so there has been no return for a third round.

One of my fav coffee shops on the island! I always order a latte before I go to class, and each time my drink has been ready waiting for me to pick up so I appreciate the fast service. Ambiance is nice, it's a great coffee shop to come and study at. I usually get the cinnamon and vanilla latte with honey and it tastes so good. I will say one time my drink was a fluke and was way too milky, but the other times I've gotten a drink from here it has always tasted spot on!

The barista Michael takes coffee serious. Hands down the best coffee in town. If you need a jolt that tastes amazing grab a Holly Black eyed triple with heavy cream. Half the price of a coffee at Starbucks and much better taste.

I don't even need to write a review because it seems like everyone has covered all the bases, however, since I felt such sadness that I didn't discover this place until my last day of Spring Break, I feel I need to let out my feelings and share them with y'all. As we walked down the sidewalk and across the street toward the cafe, my son said "Mom! Look how cool it looks! We can sit out here while you have your coffee!" The bistro tables under the shade of ivy covered trellis, the pops of red to make it feel warm and inviting like your in Europe. Love it! Then you get inside. It's funky and chill vibe distracts you from any line there is as you wait your turn to order. There were espresso brownies, pastries, zucchini bread and more. I grabbed a bag of decaf beans to bring home for my breville and enjoyed being overwhelmed by all the curious special espresso creations they had to offer in the board. I got the SQUIRREL and I can't wait to drive back to Galveston so I can get another. Someone referred me to a "hot & new" locally brewed coffee shop to try also and I made the HUGE mistake of going there for my drive back home. When I tell you I was bummed Indidnt go back to MOD, I mean... I felt a heavy cloud of sadness that I made the wrong choice. Oh, SQUIRREL, I'll be back soon!

We always come here for coffee and pastries whenever we are in Galveston! My husband particularly loves this place because he can get a smoothie while I can get a coffee, we find other coffee shops don't have a lot of non-caffeinated options. Every food and pastry item we have tried is delicious and they have a little microwave in the corner so you can heat up your dishes to the temperature you desire. They also have self serve water too. Inside seating is limited but their outdoor patio is big and so cute! We have come here in the off season before and service is very quick but this time (July 4th weekend) it was very busy and the line was slow. If you are in a hurry I would recommend placing an online order for pickup.
