Fancy Deviled Eggs Are 2022's Latest Food Trend | Bon Appétit

"At this pizza pop-up, deviled eggs take on Buffalo-style flavors—pickled celery, a paprika-forward seasoning, and a sliver of crispy chicken skin that shatters on first bite—serving as a gluten- and meat-intolerance–friendly, flavorful starter that still leaves room for pizza (one guest reportedly ate 10)." - ByAli Francis

Awesome pizza place. Absolutely love it. Folks are super nice and helpful. One of the best MOD pizza places around! You won’t be disappointed!

Google
I’ve been going to this place for years and it is safe to say I love it. The pizza is great especially for people who like thin pizza. The workers are efficient and fast. And the atmosphere is very cool and interesting. Would totally recommend.

Google
Normally this location is great, but today I walked in and the workers were chatting instead of taking my order. Then, I had to ask for my pizza to be cooked because it was just sitting there. Multiple people were waiting for their pizzas to be checked on and taken out of the oven. Some pizzas were even just sitting on the counter fully cooked, but instead of informing customers that they were done, they just continued to chat. I was not impressed today.

I was at this place last year, and due to the rude behavior of the staff taking orders and the super slow service, we decided not to visit this location anymore. Tonight, we happened to be passing by and wanted to give it another chance, hoping they might have made some improvements. Unfortunately, my experience wasn’t great. When we walked in, no one greeted us - not even a simple “hello.” It honestly felt like the guy behind the counter was annoyed by our presence. It’s disappointing, because the food itself isn’t bad, but the customer service really needs improvement.

Google
My wife and I were looking for a place to go to for a quick bite to eat and a place where we could bring our dog. We found MOD Pizza. It is basically a fast casual restaurant that follows the pattern of Chipotle. Not that they serve Mexican but they serve high quality ingredients and they are made to order and everything is done relatively quick. So you end up with a pizza that is close to an artisan Pizza in a short amount of time for a very reasonable price. We don't have anything like that where we live so I thought it was a very good business model on the pizza was delicious.

Google
MOD or made on demand pizza..they have 9 different combinations on their classic menu with names like "the Mad Dog and Dillon James" or pick your size, 6 inch or 11 and create your own from over 40 different available toppings..we tried the Lucy Sunshine ,the dough was very thin and fresh... the combination of mozzarella and parmesan along with artichokes, garlic and a few dollops of red sauce made a delicious pizza. We will definitely return the next time we're in the Lancaster area

Google
This pizza place has a great atmosphere. You walk up to the counter, state what kind of pizza you want, and then you go down the line and add what sauce and toppings you want. The great thing about this place are their gluten free crust and plant based options for protein toppings. Prices for food were average for the area. The pizza tasted delicious, and service was quick.

Google
I work at a restaurant right next door, I ran in to grab my wife a pizza for her current craving. I asked for extra cheese and pepperoni. What I got was a pathetic attempt. I worked at dominoes for a year so I know how to make a pizza and this wasn’t it. A small circle of cheese right around the middle of the pizza with nothing but sauce up to about 3 inches from the crust. And like 7 pieces of pepperoni, not spread well at all. First and last time going to MOD.

Yelp
Better than I expected but still pretty average. I do like that for one price you can put as many or as little toppings on your pizza as you'd like. They make the pizza subway style right in front of you than pass it on to someone else for the next task. I did feel that their process could be improved, as the second guy that makes your pizza has to take off his gloves to check you out before passing it on to the girl that ONLY takes them out of the oven. I think cashiering should be left to her, sincel technically she's only handling a wooden paddle. It was clean inside and the pizza crust was thin like a torilla but tasted better than expected. I will say they were generious with the toppings, but don't expect to be in and out. We used about 38 minutes of our hour lunch break getting our pizzas made.

Kristofer P.

Yelp
Super slow service, disgusting bathrooms, no sense of urgency. Price for pizza is good for the flavor and for the value of building your own, but if you're in a rush this is not the place to go.

Yelp
I frequently go to one of the 2 MODs in York. I was shocked when I got to the one in the Belmont plaza in Lancaster on a Saturday afternoon. Was ot greeted by the staff. It wasn't busy. The counter where the pizza ingredients are was so sloppy and messy with spilled things. I was told that ricotta cheese was not an option. (I've always gotten it in York.) The young man seemed confused when I asked for my pizza to be a little bit more well done. All of the tables were dirty. The drink stand looked like it hadn't been wiped down in a week. The floor was dirty, with spills and dropped things. It was kinda gross.
google avatar

Mary C.

Yelp
Decent pizza with vast selection of toppings. Service was friendly. Prices not bad. Plenty of seating indoors and a few tables outside

Yelp
Ate here today, pizza was very good. Some kind of funky stuff from the ice machine got on my wife's cup, like a slime. We got a new cup. I told 2 separate employees about it, and showed one of them close up. 20 minutes later when we were done, it was still there. It's right where you have to hold your cup against the bar. Pretty bad that in 20 minutes when it wasn't busy nobody could clean it.

Yelp
My boyfriend really likes MOD Pizza and since I've never tried it we went for dinner . Omg , it was delicious !! The toppings were all fresh , the dough had a perfect chew to it and I love the crust ! I do think the cheesy garlic bread was a bit heavy handed on the garlic ( and I love garlic) so we didn't eat much of that sadly . The young woman who made our pizzas was wonderful and did a phenomenal job on everything !! I truly believe that the wood fired oven is what sets their pizzas apart from the rest . We'll definitely be going back for more !!!!!

Amanda S.

Yelp
Updated: Yup, still terrible. Went there today and got takeout (mobile order) because it was close to other errands and I regret it. It wasn't as dirty, but the bathroom REEKED of urine. And our pizzas were sparsely covered. I've never seen a Mod made this way. Thankfully my 6 year old was just happy for her favorite pizza. And no one called out my order, I saw them put it together but then they just moved on. I said, "have you called names out on any of these?"and the young man behind the counter said, "uhhhh, I guess no, so what's your name?" But I saw my name on the slip and just told him thanks and bounced. Once again, I have to say it -- go to the Rohrerstown Rd location!

Dean M.

Yelp
I think it was the guy wearing a tank top with his armpit hairs hanging out. Yeah, that one. Since he was behind the counter and near the food, I can presume he was an employee. No one told him to leave. Absolutely unsanitary conditions. I walked out and will not return.

Yelp
I had an excellent experience! I'm glad I stopped in for a quick lunch. This will be added to my list for lunches going forward! Employees were very friendly. No wait. Pizza topping selections are fresh and do many to pick from. I love that you don't have to pay extra per topping.

Yelp
We're in town for a volleyball tournament so naturally at some point someone's going to want pizza! Decided to check MOD out since we had just left Dicks. It was our first time as we are out of towners here for a volleyball tournament. DON'T waste your calories or $. It's nothing more than a "Brick Oven" Dominos. Very disappointing. From the copy cat California Pizza versions to a basic cheese pizza. Everything about the 3 pizzas I ordered tasted processed and fake. The only thing I enjoyed was the nameless dessert. Even that seemed like a ripoff-image shows 2 so naturally for $3.69 why not give it a shot.., but it's only 1 that comes in the order. VERY deceiving. If you're into fake pizza then have a go at it. Honestly by far the worst fake pizza I've had.

Yelp
This is another create your own pizza place. It may be fair to say, once you've been to one, they are pretty much the same. The thing that sets them apart is the overall flavor of the pizza. I think it starts with the pizza dough. Mod Pizza had some interesting picks on their menu. While I stood in line, waiting to put in my pizza order, I watched the "pizza dough" guy roll out more dough. Now, at first, I didn't see him wash his hands as I was concerned that he wasn't wearing any gloves. After about 2 minutes or so, he stepped away to do something else and then came back. Before he proceeded, he washed his hands. That was comforting. Nobody wants to eat food from someone else's hands. I settled on getting a Maddy (a plain cheese pizza), topped with tomatoes and mushrooms. I did notice that Mod Pizza just recently started doing hand spun milkshakes. Well, the sign I read indicated that it was fairly new. Having milkshakes is a bit different from the competitors. Anyway, my coworker ordered his pizza and they both were done about the same time. My pizza was okay. It was good but nothing special. I can say that the pizza crust was nice and thin, like I prefer. My toppings didn't gall off or separate from the crust, so that's a plus. Even the sauce had good flavor. If I had a pizza craving and Mod Pizza was around, I would consider going. It's a good, made to order personal pizza.

Yelp
I was skeptical about this place, but curious. My youngest daughter loves pizza and what a cool thing to be able to customize your own. There was a line, but moved pretty quick. It can be a bit intimidating with folks lined up behind you, staff pushing you for your order/toppings and having endless combinations. I was going to get her a 6", but it looked way to small. Because it's a thin crust, the 6" would be the equivalent of single slice from a local pizzeria. Wise decision, she ate 3 slices of the full size (11"). There was only one mistake when ordering and I'm going to give the guy a pass, given they just opened, it was very busy and employees are probably still learning. I specifically asked for no mozzarella, he confirmed, he wrote it down and I still got mozzarella. I think part of the issue is that they write the topping down on the parchment paper, but the size of the dough covers it almost entirely, so the next person can't really see what's marked on the sheet. Large oven, pizzas cook in a few minutes, and you are on your way. I was pleasantly surprised. The combination I built was tasty. I'm biased to thin crust though (and this is very thin). Normally I don't finish an entire pizza, but these are 11" pies, very easy to eat a whole one. Approximately $11.50/11" pie with unlimited toppings.

Yelp
OMG I LOVE THIS PLACE! I've driven by it so many times and never thought to stop. My husband and I stopped one day to grab a quick bite because we wanted to try something new. The staff is SO friendly and efficient. They pump out food so quickly. So, don't let the long line fool you. There are so many ingredients to pick from. The pizza has always come out delicious. I do wish there were more sides besides salad and the few chips there. Definitely recommend if you're a pizza person!

Yelp
This was a crazy busy place, upon my Saturday evening visit. Be prepared to fight for a parking spot, if not hover around the lot in your car and stalk people walking to see if they free up their car space. To be honest, such a frustrating parking hassle just really sets the whole visit off on a bad note. My guess is that Mod loses a certain amount of business because customers are unable to park nearby. But this was a family meetup event, and I eventually found a parking spot, and eventually my sister did, and eventually my niece did also. And of course the entrance line was lengthy, but it went rather swiftly. You quickly forget the parking hassles when you see the immense amount of toppings that you consider for your pizza, and when you start going down the pizza line as you are being offered all sorts of sauce, meats, veggies, spices, etc. The seven of us were lucky to find a big enough table during our 6pm visit to Mod, right at the height of peak dinner madness. And we were pleasantly surprised that the pizzas did not take long to bake and be served to us. The pizza crust is a little thicker than what Blaze Pizza uses. My anti-carbohydrate mind prefers a thin crust; but I convinced myself that Mod's crust was just a bit more perfect than Blaze's. All the toppings were delicious and fresh. The pizza had that perfect fire-oven char. And it was the perfect size for my hungry tummy to feel comfortably satisfied. While a family gathering is always worth a hassle (of parking, in this case), I completely enjoyed our visit to Mod and would love to do it again!

Yelp
Save your money and time. Waited for the staff to restock while we wasted 5 minutes. We should have left then. Nothing about this place is true pizza.
google avatar

Yelp
For those who were as unfamiliar as I was it's basically the subway of flatbread pizza. Variety of sauces and toppings (rather large variety actually) The pizza came out fast and was tasty for being cooled so quickly. 2 ate for 21 with drinks (2 11 inch pizzas) Staff very helpful patient and friendly. I was surprised at how crispy and tasty it really was. Had an odd combo of white sauce with mozzarella Asiago and parm cheese with chicken olive and mushroom with fresh oregano. My fav pizza and it came out lovely here. Great blackberry lemonade too!! Would def return.

Yelp
Pizzas have been getting better. Had some terrible ones but the staff seem to take a little more care in crafting then they did at first

Jennifer H.

Yelp
Very slow service with a bunch of kids working. Short or limited staff as they had one kid who was in no hurry to take orders and prep food. Very inefficient. Plus when I finally got up to the counter after waiting 20 min, kid Didn't listen to my order so had to repeat myself. Overall, I Waited in line for 20 min and only 3 customers were ahead of me. Then, Took another 20 min to get 1 personal pizza. Funny thing was signage says super fast which is false advertising. Could have eaten in a sit down restaurant for the time it took. Very disappointed. Will not return.
google avatar

Cameron W.

Yelp
I wish I could take a photo of a smell. I loved this location, but the last two times I've eaten here the overwhelming odor of raw sewage made me gag. This place has some serious sewer issues that need to be dressed asap. I encourage you to go to the other MOD location in Lancaster until they fix whatever is obviously broken.

Yelp
Had lunch here with my family, Akita of parking space, place clean and spacious, employees are very nice and determine to do great food here, portion size is wonderful, price is very fair and worth every penny..! Food came out hot and on time. I recommend these place for pizza lovers like me. ANOTHER GREAT PLACE TO EAT IN LANCASTER, P.A. Great job MOD Pizza
google avatar

Yelp
Fresh ingredients, innovative pricing, efficient service. We liked these guys a lot when we lived in Tucson, we like them just as well in the Lancaster area!
google avatar

Malini A.

Yelp
I was trying the MOD pizza for the first time. They have the concept of create your own pizzas. They have couple of classic ones, or one can choose your own toppings and sauces. They bake it in the oven in front of you. Great concept, warm pizza, ones choice of toppings. Tried their pesto sauce pizza, a spicy chicken topping one and one with vegetables and olives. All of them tasted so fresh and good. Wait time was about 10 min - was crowded for a Saturday evening. Overall a good experience - will try again for sure.

Karen M.

Yelp
Despite being short staffed and VERY busy, the manager was upbeat and friendly while steadily making pizzas
google avatar

Erin D.

Yelp
BANGIN! Love all the options. Came here for the first time today with my sister and I already plan to get the bestie to come with me again tomorrow. They were getting totally slammed but service was quick and friendly. I want to try so many different combinations but the one I got today was so perfect in every way. Garlic rub, olive oil, mozz cheese, asaigo cheese, pineapple, and anchovy. You may be thinking "that sounds disgusting" but that is the best part about this place. It was a perfect combo of flavors for ME! No one else has to like what you order because the pizzas are personal size and the options are so endless. Crust was crunchy and delicious. Can't wait to come back.

Jacqueline N.

Yelp
I will never come here again . After calling the store twice trying to place an order on the phone she told me I was unable to do so . So I rushed over to the store to get here before 11 pm like she said . The door was locked at 10:57 . I've worked customer service my whole life and this is wrong. She intentionally locked the door knowing I was 2 minutes away . I will be calling cooperate.
google avatar

Kristof T.

Yelp
Stunningly delicious. Who says all chains suck?? Not me! The customization is great but the real highlights are that oven and that nice thin crust. Oh, and they have anchovies!!!
google avatar

Grant L.

Yelp
First time ordering from this place. Picked up in store. Love their business model. Pizza was delicious. Ready in a jiffy. In-store staff was great.
google avatar

Yelp
Excellent pizza and great pricing !!! Staff was amazing and very helpful. AJ the manager is great at welcoming in customers, checking to make sure people are happy and GREAT w staff. Have gone there over a dozen times w family and always done right :). Owen is quite the worker as well
google avatar

Kyle S.

Yelp
Have eaten at both MOD pizza's in Lancaster. Generally the food is the same at both of the locations. They make good thin crust pizza's that are made to order. They offer vegan cheese which is a bonus if you know someone who is vegan. I personally prefer this location to the other Lancaster location as it is setup a little better inside.
google avatar

AlcHjc C.

Yelp
Chill staff... line can be insane all hours of the day... tough to judge when a good time is to go here... their food is good... obviously you tell them how to make your pizza sooo it better be lol.... Pay attention to the menu! I have never payed attention to what exactly they had besides pizza... apparently I've been missing out... they have salads AND cinnamon twists!!
google avatar

Kathryn L.

Yelp
I love MOD pizza when I'm craving a bunch of toppings (it's one flat price per pizza). This location seem a little busier or maybe the staff is just slower compared to the Rohrerstown road location. In my most recent visit they were more concerned with the online orders than the people physically waiting in line (I waited about 10-12 minutes to place order and 4ish families were behind me). We were waiting long enough at the counter that people behind me were asking how it worked (they were confused since it was their first time and we were staring at the workers making the online orders) and I had enough time to explain the process before being helped. Takeaway: place your order online and drive to pick it up.
google avatar

Yelp
This has become my kids and my favorite place to eat! Services is amazing, people are so friendly and the food is delicious and healthy! Place is clean and sitting outside is always preferred! Wishing this place all the best in success!
google avatar

Yelp
Long story short - about the worst ever. Somehow our pizzas were LOST? How can that be? If we just didn't hear our names' being called, why didn't they keep calling us and/or come look for us? I kept going up to look for our pizzas after a few minutes. The guy handing out the pizzas was really out of it. So, he took our reorder. My friend said a plain pizza, the Maddy. For some reason he wrote "chicken". We both told him NO chicken. Long story short when she got the pizza it had chicken! While we did get a credit/free meal, it really was a HUGE ordeal and we ended up being there about an hour for a place that says "superfast." Also, when we got the pizza neither of us really liked it. My friend said she was going back to the office to eat her granola bar!! Stay away.
google avatar

Kevin E.

Yelp
Not a big pizza guy, however I have been a regular at mod since they opened. Every time I visit I always build my own. Definitely my favorite pizza place in the area, and it appears many others feel the same as the place is almost always packed. Even though they are so busy, the restaurant is relatively clean and the employees are always pleasant and take their time with your order, which I appreciate. (It also unfortunately does increase the wait time) I enjoy a lot of toppings on my pizzas (especially meats), and they are always very accommodating with adding as many toppings as I need. The pizza itself is delicious. The thin crust they use is perfect, and the toppings always taste good and fresh. It's around $8 for the regular size pizza, which I consider a great deal for how well it fills me up. One of the most underrated parts of mod are their drinks. They have delicious homemade iced teas and lemonades which I add every time.
google avatar

Carly E.

Yelp
Its like a subway, where you cam "build your own" pizza or ask for pre designed one. I got the "Dominic" which was really good. They did however put mushrooms on it when it wasnt supposed to have them. I also got a strawberry milkshake that was good, but its to thick for the straws they have. Friendly people, nice atmosphere.
google avatar

Southwest G.

Yelp
Now let me start this off by saying it's fast food pizza. Wild concept so minus a star cause I like that good-ole, small-town, your uncle frank's pizza. That said, clean place, pretty cheap, nice workers, I dig it. Unlimited toppings is cool and they have nice lemonade. That said, 4 stars... minus a star.
google avatar

Tim P.

Yelp
In town for a wedding and stumbled across this place as a quick place to get something to eat. WOW it's like subway for pizza! Reasonably priced cooked super fast. Wish this was up in Syracuse,NY! Highly recommend this place.

Sydney R.

Yelp
food was great service was not. we have a severe gluten allergy and when they were informed they did not change gloves or take any other precautions to make sure she doesn't literally die. made fun of us also. please be kinder, it's free.
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
DELICIOUS! working in the pizza industry makes one a little snobby toward chain pizza (they can't make anything that I can't make better myself - wrong!) but I was really impressed with the operation. The restaurant was busy as all hell but the service was polite, fast, and friendly. I ordered one of their special pies the "Lucy Sunshine" which had a garlic and mozzarella base, artichoke and parmesan cheese and finished off with 4 generous dollops of marinara sauce. My pizza was absolutely delightful - their fire grilled oven makes the crust flakey and crispy. I appreciated the choice of toppings and can't wait to return to build my own pie!

Rachel W.

Yelp
I never leave reviews. I had been coming here for pizza for years and never had a bad experience until a few weeks ago. We came at not a busy time- 7pm on a Monday. There was nobody else in there. We got in line and the employee did not acknowledge us for about 20 minutes- no joke. After a long time he asked what we wanted in an annoyed and careless manner. Needless to say, the food was very overpriced and our salads came with barely any dressing. Will not be returning here for a while.
google avatar

Toniya W.

Yelp
I was surprised how awesome this place really is. Tasty and thin chewy crispy crust that doesn't send you into a regretful food coma. Fresh ingredients, interesting delicious combinations. Fast, courteous service. We ordered online but the line seemed to be moving pretty efficiently. We'll be back.

Kelly B.

Yelp
Ordered for delivery at 9 pm through their website. Ten o'clock came around and it still had not been picked up. I called and they stated it's a third party delivery service and they have no contact with them. At 10:20 after they closed it had still not been picked up and I called again and said they would be there until 11 if someone showed up. Door dash called me saying they were going to get it and then called back saying they locked the doors on him as he walked to the door. I have always been a fan of mod pizza but after tonight I have lost respect for them.
google avatar

Philip S.

Yelp
Great build your own Pizza. The HVAC system is terrible. Good luck finding a seat in the dining room that doesn't have a constant cool breeze blowing on you. The pizza gets cold before you can eat it.

Freeman T.

Yelp
Went here for the first time yesterday. Kept it simple and ordered from their classic selection and ordered the 6" "Dominic" for take out. The first employee checked off my choice of pizza and it went downhill from there. The next employee apparently wasn't paying attention to either the first employee checking off my choice or bothered to read the paper the dough was on as he put on the wrong sauce. Being hangry and no holding up the line i told the person it was fine and i accepted the incorrect sauce. When it was time to cook the pizza in the oven i thought it was clear sailing. Was I wrong. When i got home and picked up my first slice i noticed it was soft, after the first bite, my suspension was correct and the dough wasn't thoroughly cooked.... I ended up putting it in my oven to finish cooking it. Lastly the taste of the "Dominic" was okay but not impressed. The pizza basically tasted like something i bought at the supermarket frozen section. For around $5.50 i can understand that but if you're shooting for fresh ingredients as a franchise, at least make it slightly better than frozen pre-made pizza. If i was reallllly lazy and wanted pizza on the way home, id just go to my local pizzaria.

Yelp
First time at a Mod Pizza. Came in about 2 p.m., but the place was relatively busy. All the pizza toppings for one price?! I'm IN! This place is brand new, but the staff knew the menu, and were quick to help. The set-up is similar to Subway ... just slide on down as you ask for your specific toppings. My pizza was dee-lish and made exactly to order. I love thin crust, which (I think) is all they have. Clean-up crew was quick, so there was no waiting for a table to clear. When the line cleared, staff restocked items and folded boxes. No waiting around to be told what to do. I'll be back!

Pao P.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised that the pizza here is actually pretty good. I expecting something like Cici's pizza. I got the mega mad dog and the wife got the mod margarita and for dessert we got the cinnamon strips. Both were good, the cinnamon strips were ok. I'll definitely eat here when I'm craving pizza.
google avatar

Chris C.

Yelp
I realize this is a chain - but really enjoyed the fast casual dining experience this offered. Is this New Haven pizza? No. But, it is a pretty darn good thin crust - highly customizable at one price...really good bang for the buck.
google avatar

Janet K.

Yelp
My first visit here the employees making my pizza never even made eye contact with me, they were too busy talking about going out to breakfast on Good Friday because they were off school. My second visit they used poker coded with melted cheese to check if my DAIRY FREE pizza was done? I asked about it and I was told they always do that.
google avatar

Bruce W.

Yelp
Awesome pizza, really friendly staff, great atmosphere, and great pricing. We each got an 11" pizza for $7.47 each and that includes as much toppings as you want. Can't beat it. Environment is very loud but if you can get past that you will love the food
