Had a two hour layover (of the MANY that I've had at PDX) and finally decided to try this place and now I'm regretting it to be my first time here...should have tried this place years ago!
Anyway, let's get to it!
How it works: You pay for the size of the pizza and get unlimited toppings. There are three sizes. The Mini = 6 inches. The MOD = 11 inches. The Mega = 2x 11 inches. They also have salads and if you put the salad on a MOD pizza crust, it's only $9.87. You can build your own or order one of the their signature pizzas.
Price: SUPER AWESOME VALUE! The prices are great even if they weren't located in the airport where EVERY OTHER restaurants' prices are inflated.
The Mini = $4.87. The MOD = $7.87. The Mega = $10.87
Location: It's in C-gate with plenty of open seating. Clean counters. The setup is efficient to get the lines moving quickly.
Food: I built my own Mini = red sauce, ricotta, mozzarella, feta, garlic, olives, mushrooms, lots of basil, salt/pepper, rosemary, and oregano.
So the fact that they had ROSEMARY and RICOTTA made me fall in love immediately! Never in a million years would I have expected those two ingredients in an airport.
Some other notable toppings were roasted garlic, roasted cauliflower, shaved parmesan, ANCHOVIES, Gorgonzola, just to name a few
After the pizza comes out of the oven, you have the option to finish the top of the pizza with more sauce (pesto, red sauce dollops, minced garlic, BBQ, balsamic fig, etc).
Taste: My pizza tasted awesome! Thin slightly crunchy, slightly chewy crust. Quality fresh ingredients. I added a little more salt to the pizza afterwards and it brought out all the flavors perfectly! The only thing that could have made it better is if they had flaky sea salt.
Service: ALL workers were super friendly. From the start of the assembly line to the cashier to the guy that called your order. They asked each person in line if they had dined there before (so to save us newbies from prompting that a have no idea what we're doing).
Area of improvement: I didn't have cash and the way they set up for credit card purchases, it didn't give me an option to leave a tip. Hopefully they can change that. Those workers deserved something and I felt guilty that I wasn't able to leave them anything.
So there you have it! My first (and probably last) 5-star review for an airport pizza place.
