"Animal is a tiny, minimalist restaurant on Fairfax with one of the most creative meat-focused menus in the city. If everything about that last sentence terrifies you, relax. This modern spot is unpretentious, easy to get into, and has food that’s not nearly as bizarre as it looks on paper. Whether you go for the spicy beef tendon chips, sirloin carpaccio, oxtail poutine, or tomahawk chop, a meal at Animal is about as far away from a stuffy steakhouse experience as you can get." - brant cox
"The talk around the office for next week’s team dinner is steakhouse, but you aren’t in the mood for a nap on top of a run-of-the-mill ribeye in Beverly Hills. Go to Animal. This small, modern restaurant on Fairfax isn’t your traditional steakhouse, and that’s the point. You’re going to have spicy beef tendon chips, sirloin carpaccio, oxtail poutine, and a giant Turkey leg, all in a minimalist space. And you’re never going to want to go back to a boring steakhouse again." - jess basser sanders, amy clark, brant cox
"The best restaurant in Los Angeles does a weekend brunch and one could argue humanity doesn’t deserve it. This is not the brunch you eat on the same day you decide to start triathlon training. You go to Animal on a Saturday or Sunday morning to eat a concerning amount of meat, give cholesterol the middle finger, and feel like a superstar. The menu is a combination of things from the dinner menu like the oxtail poutine and the “boner burger,” alongside (slightly) brunch-ier things like the foie gras loco moco and a pastrami reuben benedict." - jess basser sanders, amy clark, brant cox
"The opening of Animal, the meat-filled paradise on Fairfax, was comparable to that of Bestia - which we can’t really say about anywhere else. And while a lot of that hype surrounded specialties like pig ears and strange cuts of meat, Animal has slowly become a restaurant that excels at everything. Chicken liver toast, last-minute date nights, hamachi tostadas, business dinners, and solo meals with one of our favorite-ever burgers - Animal can do it all." - jess basser sanders
"It’s only Wednesday and you’ve already eaten seven salads this week. Good for you - now go eat as much meat as possible in one sitting. This restaurant on Fairfax has the most meat-heavy menu in town, with a smoked turkey leg that’s even more impressive than the one you get at Disneyland. Animal doesn’t pull the kind of crowds it did when it first opened, but it’s still one of the most exciting and consistently excellent dinners you can get in LA. The small space fills up in a hurry most nights - except for the first come, first serve bar in the back." - brant cox
