Modern Bread and Bagel

Outdoor seating is great for people watching while you have lunch. Everything is gluten free and so tasty. I had the Coconut French Toast Sticks with a French Toast Latte. Both were fantastic. They have restrooms. Parking structure is just across the street and a block north.

I didn’t realise this place was gluten free but I did after my first bite. This sourdough was the worst bread I’ve ever had. The texture was awful and dry and the after taste was really weird. The only good thing was the egg. Vegan bacon (no normal bacon option) was impossible to bite into because it was so hard and really over seasoned was really unpleasant. This wasn’t helped by the absence of butter and sauce. Service was lovely but the food was honestly really bad. Maybe I should have got a bagel?

The best gluten free pastry and bagel I have ever had. The place is entirely gluten free so no anxiety for a coeliac. The pain au chocolat was some kind of witchcraft - actual buttery flakey layers that I thought I would never experience again since having to go GF. Reasonably priced, great service and atmosphere. Highly recommend for any coeliacs.

This place is sooo good, bagels are delicious and the mood of the place itself is very clean and pleasing!! Our waitress was also lovely, keep up the great work

FOOD HOSPITALITY AND PEOPLE ARE PERFECT. I went here right before closing unknowingly and was eating the garden bagel and instead of kicking me out for being their last closing they insisted on giving me pastries on the house. I’ve had so many bagels in my life but genuinely this bagel was the best thing i have ever put into my mouth it was seasoned to perfection. I am an avid tomato hater and I still gobbled this up. The crunch on the bagel was immaculate and hell I don’t even like strawberry but this donut was almost like a cronut and to die for. A hidden gem and I will be back from Irvine to show people I love this spot. Thank you!

This was the first time I’ve had a fresh bagel in the past five years since I was diagnosed with celiac. I had the cinnamon raisin bagel and it was delicious! I wish we had this bakery where I live. We also tried the pain au chocolat which was good but needed more chocolate. The glazed brioche donut was delicious. Such a treat to find a good gluten free bakery while traveling.

Amazing Bagels. Spicy Feta and Avocado + Salmon. Blueberry cake and chocolate zucchini. Everything fresh and tasty prepared. Great! So friendly service. Perfect atmosphere to sit in or outside. We love it there. Thank you Modern team.

I'm very upset this place opened so close to my office, 😭 now I have no excuse but to enjoy their glorious gluten free doughnuts more often than my usual monthly visits! Best gluten free bakery in Los Angeles, hands down! Geez 🙄 But seriously, take it from a gf experienced eater. This place takes the cake. They should honestly get some sort of reward.
