It is one of the best breakfast places in terms of food. We had eggs florentine, steak burrito, and classic tuna sandwich. Two thumbs up 👍 👌 . The place is just alright, rather cramp. Still, it doesn't matter that much as we were very satisfied. Tater tots was crunchy outside and soft inside.

We ate here on a Sunday morning. It was super busy but there weren’t enough employees to keep up with the guests. Still, they made do! The food was worth the wait. I tried the Kentucky Eggs Benedict. The gravy was a bit different - the sausage tasted like the sausage used on pizza. Potatoes were great. Overall, a pretty good visit.

Google
We were there for breakfast and the potatoes are more like tater tots. The blueberry pancakes were okay they needed more blueberries in my opinion. It’s pricey for a basic breakfast. Service was bad for us, waiter never came to our table for a refill of my coffee or to ask if anything was needed. My husband had to ask for a glass of water across the restaurant because waiter never came near by. I guess we are not coming back. It didn’t work for us unfortunately.

Melody is the best very attentive and an all around beautiful person. Sriracha tuna melt is delicious and I've tried their pulled pork sandwich too also delicious. Service is great cozy place, beer on tap and a big tv on the wall usually soccer on . Awesome!

Google
Great food, service is amazing and a variety of offerings. My running club goes to breakfast here every Saturday- I try to join when I can because I love this cute little restaurant- especially the patio where you can bring your dog. The servers get to know you and what you usually order, and they know your name so you can just say the usual and it comes out perfect every time.

Great customer service. Food was great. Cool ambiance. Patio dining is available too. Hidden gem.

Google
The breakfast burritos are some of the best in LA! We’ve been here multiple times and each time the burritos are as good or better than the last. You can go with a traditional egg burrito OR you can venture into a veggie egg burrito with soyrizo and be blown away! Try it, you won’t be disappointed!

Egg white burrito was fabulous and plentiful. TheTwo eggs on veggie hash was a perfect Meal.

Yelp
This is, of course, too little, too late, But I'm hoping Ron or one of his wonderful employees is still trolling this site. Ever since the pandemic, Modern Eats was our home away from home. I think we were there every morning and continued coming as businesses went back to normal and acrylic barriers started coming down. We were there for the food as we are not prone to frequenting solely for ambience when it comes to eating. In a neighborhood sprinkled with everything from foodie havens to mediocre food places well dressed to trap posers with nary a working taste bud, Modern Eats had excellent comfort food and the only restaurant burger I considered worth restaurant prices. Once there for the chicken soup or the delicious tots and the always satisfying breakfast fare, however, the comfortable, clean atmosphere, and the super friendly staff made for the best atmosphere, ambiance, vibe, whatever, one could ever hope for. Thank you Ron and all the staff members. We will sorely miss all of you. I am so so sorry this review is after the fact. We were out of the country when we heard you closed. Wishing you a most festive time in whatever adventure you all decide to pursue in the future. Isabel and Kevin- Two of your biggest fans! We'll share the steak and eggs and can we get the asparagus instead of the potatoes? Thank you!

Yelp
Why was I so stingy a year ago on my rating? Idk but I'm a regular here now and I LOVE MODERN EATS!!!! FIVE STARS, BABY! Things I love there: - The chicken vegetable soup. I usually don't get the chicken noodle because the noodles are a little too al dente for me, but the broth and ingredients are SOOO GOOD in both. - The breakfast ribs: DAMN. My god. So delicious. Finger licking good and deliciously smoky. Love making breakfast tacos with the tortillas they give you too. - Love their farmers breakfast. Just a nice classic meal with AMAZING POTATOES!! These potatoes also come with the breakfast ribs. - Bro they have REFILLABLE JONES SODA Service is also amazing. Really love the servers here. My favorites. I talked about tough parking in my previous review but there's neighborhood parking if the lot is full. I recommend and love this place!!

Yelp
so long and thanks for all the burritos! we missed one month of regular dining b/c we were out of town & came back to the permanently closed sign. we'll miss y'all! i know its hard to make it work in this town which is why we are leaving too. if ya decide to re-open in texas, let us know! we'll be there opening day

Yelp
Modern Eats is a cool brunch spot. It has both indoor and outdoor seating which is great if you're trying to bring your pets. The service is good as well! During my visit I ordered the Farmers Breakfast and highly recommend because the breakfast potatoes are nice and crispy. The pancakes are good. If you're looking for a safe spot to eat, definitely check this place out.

Stephanie K.

Yelp
I was lucky enough to work pretty much next door to these guys. It's been some months but the staff there is the best. Just good, down to earth, real people. I'll be in soon for my coffee with 5 inches of oatmilk and some pastries. Special shout out to Gus, Alex, Carlos, Catalina, Chris and of course my dude Ron.

Johnny Y.

Yelp
I joined several of my close friends for brunch here this morning & had a great experience. Between the friendly service, pleasant atmosphere, good prices & wide variety of menu selections, it was a a lot of fun. I ordered the egg white breakfast burrito. It was perfect. Will be back & definitely recommend it to friends.

Yelp
We are addicted to ordering from this place. DELICIOUS FOOD! Pancakes - OUTSTANDING! Have this pumpkin kind of flavor, I'm not sure what it is, but they're DELICIOUS! BBQ RIBS - c'mon now, it's so hard to find good BBQ, but Here, they are YUMMY! Reminds me of my Dad's BBQ, THE BEST! And they give you A LOT. . Thank you. Breakfast - 3 scrambled eggs, sausage and bacon was so good. Omelet was pretty good also. Tater Tots are good Fries are only "ok".

Brenda C.

Yelp
This place has so many bomb options of food to choose from! The Italian Breakfast Sandwhich is a MUST TRY!

Marc E.

Yelp
I love this place. Great food, great staff and love the decor. Amazing bacon cheese burger.

Kimberly A.

Yelp
My family and I are always ordering from here! Breakfast and lunch always delicious! Service is fast and efficient. I love getting the grilled cheese with tomato soup or the Matzah ball soup always brings me comfort.

Aura Y.

Yelp
Easily accessible and always willing to accommodate my party. The food is delicious and the service is amazing. There are dining tables inside and outside if you bring your dog (please be careful with the people around you). Space can be a bit tight , but it is all manageable.

Gregory G.

Yelp
This is kind of a hipster place, with classic food. It's a great place for breakfast. I ordered the 2 eggs any style, with bacon and jalapeño bread. The place is small and cozy with the option for outdoor patio dining and great coffee. They did go paperless with having to scan a QR code to view their menu. I'll definitely come back here and try some of their other food items.

Stephanie K.

Yelp
Located in a small strip mall, this small and cozy restaurant is a hidden gem! They offer delicious breakfast and hands down the best matzah ball soup in Los Angeles. The real star of the show is their homemade poppyseed lemon muffins. They are absolutely delicious and every time I get my massage next door, I pop in for one to take home. Service is always friendly and welcoming too!

Ac A.

Yelp
Excellent. Dishes. Breakfast. Burgers!!!! Salads. Sandwiches. Courteous on the phone. Clean place. Family business. I highly recommend if YOU haven't tried it It's fresh and handmade. The fries are unique and I love it.

Angela L.

Yelp
This place popped up on my Ubereats today so I figure why not try it. I am glad that I did. I ordered the Italian breakfast sandwich and it yummy . The ciabatta bread was nice toasty and soft. I would definitely order again.

Shantay M.

Yelp
We got the Luis Quesadilla. It was very yummy and cheesy. The veggie chorizo in it tasted and looked real. If you're looking for a light spice though, I wouldn't recommend it. We got other items too like the crispy tater tots. Also good. It wasn't that much food, but it did take a long time to come out and was expensive. It was past 7:00 pm though, and there was only 1 or 2 employees and not really any people inside. But it's a nice, calm atmosphere inside. Do wish there was more chairs/tables inside and out. Would recommend.

K E.

Yelp
WHOA ITS SO GOOD! All of the food was so fresh and delicious. Staff was lovely. Very cool vibe, I'd come here every day if I could.

Emma G.

Yelp
I love coming here on Saturday mornings and on weekdays when I'm seeking a chill place to eat. It's cozy and unpretentious. The food is always delicious and comforting. Even when it's super busy, the service remains wonderfully efficient and warm. Five stars all the time, every time.

Martin L.

Yelp
I've past this place many times since my wife and I are in the area several times a month. After trying it, I have to say it's a gem of a find. I had the Classic Tuna Melt and fries. It's definitely a step above the usual Tuna Melt. My wife and mother-in-law shared a Turkey Wrap & Chicken Noodle Soup. They loved it. Service is great too. Our server, Gustavo, was warm & friendly. Also, the coffee is very good. We will be back.

James W.

Yelp
Done well, with a great selection, with great service, is an excellent recipe for one of the best default spots on my list. From breakfast all day to delicious hot sandwiches off the griddle to a more than filling carne asada burrito, you will find something you'll love here. Regulars seem to depend on their fluffy pancakes, but I think most everything is just as satisfying. Even a simple Matzo Ball soup will be heartwarming here. With some vegetarian options, the menu is complete. The service is good, and the ample outdoor seating is wonderful when the temps are nice.

Johnny L.

Yelp
I just had the best shot of espresso here. Try it guys try it! It's so good! I'll definitely come back and try the food as well.

Nate A.

Yelp
If you're serving cream cheese and lox you gotta give a healthy NY portion of cream cheese! At least cover the bread. Eggs are ok. Coffee is ok. Lox came in an unsliced hunk though. Effort kids, put some effort into your food.

Alanna L.

Yelp
I always get the pancakes I tried something different today veggie burrito hash hm...wheat tortilla, huh? hmmmm...mmmm...yum yum hhhhhhhhhmmmmm!!! Yum Yum Yum!! what? I eat cottage cheese? perfectly cold! I do! what? ARUGULA aioli??? This is my 2nd 5 star review Didn't know I could feel so cared for eating a burrito...So tasty and cleverly healthy....I only experienced tasty!! Thank u!!

Roxana S.

Yelp
The food was solid! The omelettes were great and the coffee was decent. As for the service, it started well with an older gentleman taking my order and checking in on me. But then the older gentleman left, so the younger waiter who has to work in social skills abruptly brought me the check without saying anything or offering me a box for my leftovers. He didn't even ask me if I wanted more coffee.

Lorena S.

Yelp
Brought the boys for lunch while running errands. I ordered the pancakes which was so good. I am not usually a pancake person but these were really good. Perfect flavor and consistency. My son got the sriracha tuna melt. Melt in your mouth deliciousness. It was packed with goodness and to the end the bread held it all in. Crunchiness to the last bite. Really great food and it also has a nice outside patio. Also had plenty of parking.

Leslie G.

Yelp
Modern eats is always such a treat! From breakfast to dinner it offers just about everything. Food is always extremely flavorful.

Jojo C.

Yelp
I've only been here twice and both times the food was delicious and the staff was attentive and friendly. It's a nice clean spot and service is quick. I'll be back, I'll bring friends. :)

Jaddis H.

Yelp
Parking: Plenty in their private lot Service: Splendid and attentive Food: 2 egg meal(?). My friend ordered eggs, bacon, potatoes and a croissant. She devoured it ALL. She even ordered a to-go meal for her partner haha Florentine Benefit- I was very disappointed. I read the reviews on their bene being less than impressive but I wanted to give it a try myself. The potatoes were GREAT. It was the best thing on my plate and I couldn't get enough of it. The asparagus was TASTELESS. It didn't even taste like they sprinkled salt ono it. The bene was very bland too. I was really hoping the holla sauce on top would at least add some flavor to it but I shouldn't have held my breath. I'll probably come back to give it another try but I'll ask for recommendations this time, versus falling to my trust worthy bene order.

Veronica G.

Yelp
Excellent food. Excellent service. Excellent ambiance. Quick and friendly service. Multi generational and family loving dining. Dogs love it here too. What else can I say? I eat here almost every day.

James H. L.

Yelp
Delivery via Postmates, Grubhub and Uber Eats is working really well. Just knowing they have one of the few Seared Ahi salads left in the area and still the most balanced and flavorful breakfast offerings around, makes them the go-to for really enjoyable eats any time. (yes, they still have Baby Back Ribs available for breakfast, tater tots, and all the breads and rolls we love, too.) If you have any subs, just add them to your order comments and they'll get back to you with any adjustments needed for the order to work - like when I want a veggie omelette but I want a side of sausage biscuits and gravy (and ME's has a LOT of sausage in their gravy.)

Rosana B.

Yelp
You don't want to starve at dinner time with only one cook and one front attendant. Plan accordingly!

Denise V.

Yelp
This is our go to breakfast place when we are in the area. Convenient to Dodger stadium and Silverlake area. Food is delicious and served quickly.

Cat L.

Yelp
Never had such bad service without even sitting at a restaurant. Was waiting for a while and wasn't acknowledged once. I managed to flag a girl down and ask if there is a waiting list and she said there isn't but they had a party leaving. So i went back outside to wait only to have a party of 6 come in and take our table. The place smelled good but they don't seem to care weather you eat there or not. So we went to our regular spot Millie's Cafe and had amazing service and food. We probably would have still been waiting here

Imon C.

Yelp
Okay so this review is from the past week, since I visited Modern Eats 2x in a week I usually go in the morning, usually there's no wait. My favorite is the Modern Veggie Hash. The crispy potatoes are the best part of the dish, mixing it with the over medium egg goes great, It's the perfect light breakfast. I also ordered the yogurt with granola and fruit. Fresh fruit, but the yogurt was lukewarm which was the only con I had with the restaurant.

Jamesy M.

Yelp
I HAVE A CRUSH ON MODERN EATS! Why haven't I ordered here before? I was craving some eggs Benny and came across this place. I placed an order and it was all over.. I order from here twice a week now! I keep telling myself I'll try other menu items but I've now ordered the same damn dish SIX TIMES! Guys.. this is the real deal. I know good food. I also always order eggs Benny at every breakfast place I go so that I can compare and ohmygosh This is what they would serve the Gods - fresh, clean, tasty and high quality food. Even ordering to go it's obvious that thought goes into the presentation.. and THE POTATOES! Just do yourself a favor and go to Modern Eats.

Tosh B.

Yelp
Superb breakfast and lunch spot with exceptional food choices, and an excellent spot for meetings.

James B.

Yelp
I came here for brunch after a long run at Griffith Park, so I came here famished looking for something that'll really hit the spot. Food: Breakfast Burrito wasn't very good. It was pretty bland and the only little flavor came from the bits of bacon. The meat, egg, potato ratio was off. I thought the burrito was too starchy and thick because of the amount and type of potatoes they used. If there was more balance and the potatoes were cut up and softer, it would've been much better. I found myself needing to douse the burrito with a bunch of hot sauce and ketchup to get some more flavor and reduce the overwhelming potatoeyness. Yes that's a technical term.. Service: standard. They'll get you what you need if you ask. Parking: Small, free lot shared with the neighboring businesses.

Amber R.

Yelp
Came here with a few coworkers (after getting foot massages next door at Yolo), and was delightfully surprised! When we arrived (around 6:30pm on a Wednesday), it was empty. Hmm...not a great sign. But this was definitely not an indication of the quality of this spot. The vibe is VERY casual...super laid back (definitely a t-shirt and jeans, or maybe even sweatpants, kinda place). First of all -- the menu. Wow. So many options, and an entire vegan/vegetarian section! Everything from breakfast, brunch, sandwiches, mains, salads, sides...several pages -- so many, it was hard to pick one dish! They also serve beer and wine ($6 HEAVY pours!). While we sat and waited for our food, other patrons slowly trickled in, and by the time we left, it was more or less full. The food came out pretty quickly, and tasted great. Simple, yet very scrumptious. Also, LOTS OF PARKING...a true commodity in this area of LA. Given its proximity to quality foot rubs, and it's robust menu, we all agreed we'd be back soon! I imagine maybe for brunch? Give it a shot!

Matthew M.

Yelp
My family came in on Sunday (4/3) for a late lunch and very much enjoyed our overall meal: Our Server was Cassie (might have been a manager??) she was very knowledgeable around the overall menu, was very attentive to our table, and made sure to offer coffee, mimosas and water to everyone but the kids. Her two recommendations were very much enjoyed by our party (avocado toast and Kentucky scramble). The bacon and over medium eggs were cooked just the way we like it and we'll definitely be back in the near future due to great service and experience.

Sandra P.

Yelp
Came back to this local's neighborhood spot in Silverlake. It was delicious! All three dishes were so tasty. Service is always so nice & friendly. Melody & Ron always make sure our table is attended to.. They serve Euro coffee, beer & wine. Our decaf was a bit strong. Good parking (lot) which is priceless in this area! Looking forward to trying more items on the menu. Spent $49.

David E.

Yelp
Stumbled on the is place a bit by accident, and am extremely grateful for the serendipity! Phenomenal latte, stunningly tasty smoked pulled pork tacos, scrumptiouos mac and cheese tots, and wonderfully unique pancakes (for dessert, of course)! And all of this with a chill vibe with excellent outdoor seating options and very friendly service! Give it a try!!

Wayne C.

Yelp
Lots of eats and very modern indeed. I've been here a dozen times and love this place. Good, cheap diners are hard to find Food: I've eaten every omelette, Firehouse is my fave. Good diner food. Service: people are super nice here, food is out in 10 minutes. Parking: lots of parking Price: very affordable, 10-12 a plate Ambiance: clean, modern indeed, nice patio area, dog friendly too but I don't have a dog.

Terri B.

Yelp
Modern seats is a Perfect neighborhood restaurant. Great sandwiches and matzo ball soup.

Cara H.

Yelp
This is our second time in the last month we ordered breakfast from Modern Eats. First time we used Postmates and this time I used my Uber Eats referral credit. Both times we got the Veggie Hash Breakfast Burrito with added avocado. It is loaded with sauteed veggies (mushrooms, asparagus, onions, peppers), potatoes, eggs, and cheese. It comes with this arugula aioli that goes perfect! My favorite burrito here. I have also tried their vegan soyrizo burrito, which is also good but I like the hash better because anytime I eat soyrizo, the flavor is overpowering. We halfed their burrito and it was very hearty and filling, so I only had room for a few bites of the buttermilk pancakes. But it was the perfect fluffyness with a hint of cinnamon. Comes with apple compote, butter, maple syrup, and cottage cheese.

Jun L.

Yelp
Thanks to an enormous pet-friendly patio and pretty good food, Modern Eats has become our get-together place for a group of friends and a couple of pooches! 4 stars overall! My Top 3 (5-star) food recommendations at Modern Eats: 1) Sirloin Steak and Eggs: I love having steak and eggs for dinner, and I've ordered this menu item a few times at Modern Eats. I always ask for my steak cooked medium. Modern Eats never fails, and the steak has always been tender and flavorful. Love the sirloin steak with eggs over medium. Served with red potatoes and toast, it's a pretty good and hearty portion. 2) Tomato Soup with Toasted Cheese Madness: I usually don't order grilled cheese sandwiches when I go out to eat since they are pretty easy to make at home but Modern Eats makes a really delicious grilled cheese sandwich. You get to choose your bread as well as your cheese. Bread choices include buttermilk, sourdough, jalapeno, and wheat. Cheese choices include cheddar, havarti, mozzarella, swiss, pepper jack, and sharp cheddar. I love spicy food so I always go for the jalapeno bread with the pepper jack. The perfectly grilled sandwich goes perfectly with the tomato soup, which has a yummy, homemade taste. 3) Beer Battered Onion Rings: I'm a big fan of fries, and I rarely order onion rings, but Modern Eats makes one the best onion rings I've ever had. The onion rings are always cooked perfectly crispy, and the beer batter is absolutely delicious. One you have one, you'll easily want a couple more, and sharing them can be hard thing to do. Food that I wouldn't recommend at Modern Eats (2 stars): 1) Grilled Ahi Salad: Cooked medium rare, the tuna comes with savoy cabbage, roasted bell pepper, carrots, edamame and scallions with a house asian vinaigrette. Although the tuna was okay, this salad just has way too much cabbage. This salad will be so much better with field greens and/or romaine. 2) Buttermilk Pancakes: A couple of friends love and always order the pancakes at Modern Eats everytime we go, but sadly, I'm not a fan. There seems to be too much cinnamon in the batter, and it's unfortunately off-putting to me. Service at Modern Eats has always been friendly, welcoming, and attentive (5 stars). If you plan on dining with four legged friends, there's a pretty big dog-friendly patio available (5 stars). My group of friends and I, along with a couple of doggies, usually have the entire patio to ourselves when we go for dinner!

Yelp
Modern Eats was one of our go-tos for years. We stopped ordering from them after several orders in a row were wrong, but decided that we'd give them another chance. After all, people make mistakes. But today we discovered the hard way that if you order the black bean burger from their main menus, you have to get cheese on it. You can specifically order the same exact burger from their vegan menu as the only way to omit cheese. That is annoying, but fine until you discover later that for the same price, they replace the fries for slices of tomato when you order from the vegan menus. First, who eats plain slices of tomato? Second, what vegan in the world doesn't eat French fries? This is straight up unethical. Business lost for good.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Love modern eats! It's a local favorite!! Good coffee and great food! Highly recommend coming after a nice walk around the reservoir.

J S.

Yelp
Maybe it was an off day, maybe it was because it was delivered. But those factors don't account for a lack of flavor or seasoning. Soup was pretty standard. Bacon on a sandwich somehow managed to be bland, bacon! And it didn't make either of us feel good, so hopefully it's just a one off.

Lena V.

Yelp
Ordered 2 matzo ball soup and chicken fingers. No matzo ball in either soup, and no sauce for the chicken fingers even though requested. My quest for matzo ball soup on the east side continues. Good chicken noodle soup.
