Modern Grub is so wonderful. I have been looking for a place that has food with no sodium. I was so pleased that everything tasted really good. They do such a great job preparing the meals and they are very healthy and just what I need to help me eat clean. I'm very busy so this is just perfect for me. Thank you ladies for a wonderful experience today, and wow everything was so incredibly clean. Very impressed. PS loved the goodies. Brownie was amazing!! I will definitely be a return customer. Not only are you helping me to eat clean but I'm single so you're keeping me from wasting food at home and spending a fortune at the grocery store. Affordable and delicious. Thanks again, ladies😊

Google needs to make a 6 star option, b/c 5 isnt enough for these guys. Its a genuine, warm, & friendly family owned business that has catered to everything I couldve asked for. I originally asked to find a program to help w/ my weight loss as I work long hours. They educated me on what diet modifications they will be doing for my meals & other things. I went from 226 lbs, & currently sitting at 208 ALL WHILE EATING & NOT STARVING MYSELF.

I am going to miss this place sooooooooo much. I am a traveling medical professional who is trying to eat healthy and still have it be yummy and not boring or a chore to eat. I have had another meal prep person and this company blows that experience out of the water. I like that you can see what the menu is going to be so if you have a favorite, you can look forward to that. You can order ahead, which I only did once since I procrastinated most weeks, but you also have the option to just walk in a pick from the meals available. They don't always have what you want but most times they had so many options I was good with. If you order ahead, you don't need to worry about availability. They started making this new curried chickpea salad and OMG deeeeelish! I wish this was a national chain because it would rock! thank you guys so much for being so good at what you do. I really am going to miss the good food, the convenience, and the friendliness of all those who work there. Miss you already Modern Grub.

This place is awesome! Large portions of delicious, healthy food. The variety is excellent and it makes eating healthy so easy. What's more, it is very affordable. We spend less money per week with these fantastic salads and entrees.

Healthiest food in town and they have a microwave and a small table if you want to eat outside. I had the salmon with broccoli and brown rice. It comes with a lemon wedge. Take the lemon out before microwaving so it doesn’t drain the juice. Great experience, kind staff. Clean location. Rare find.

I really like these modern grub meals they are Paleo, gluten-free, dairy free, no preservatives, & locally sourced; all of that good stuff. I've lost a lot of weight & it's mostly due to eating these meals daily. You can order for delivery or you can pick them up. They have wonderful monthly treats & a really cool menu that rotates weekly. One of my favorite parts about them, is it's a locally owned business and it's ran by a family. That's really cool! Also they have actual nutritionist so the meals are protein packed but also, well balanced. Modern Grub is really mindful about what they put in their food and what ultimately is put into our (us grubber's) bodies, that's a help that is much needed for myself. I try my best to eat well but let's be real: I don't cook sweet potatoes but on thanksgiving. They're a whole superfood and i love that they use them. My anemia is getting better, as well as my blood sugars. I was type 2 diabetic and it's almost completely reversed bc of my decision to just eat better with MG. I love the periodic emails with Tips on staying healthy. They're so thoughtful and well written. I've been a modern grubber for a few years now on and off, but i really committed this time. The only meals i am eating are modern grub ones. Unless i have a cheat day or I'm with someone who is cooking etc. I am disabled, so cooking with my heart condition ( alone) is difficult and i was eating out a lot. These meals are cheaper than eating out. I have no reason not to get them, in my honest opinion: if i can buy fast food everyday. I can save some money (and calories, carbs, fat, weight, etc) and just buy some mg meals. Literally i pop one in the microwave and in about 3 minutes i have my food. Doordash can't beat that. Not even with an extra fee, Orders are due by Thursday at noon and they use shop pay, that's an app i trust fully for transactions. I highly recommend giving them a try over other national prep services; that send frozen meals and use preservatives. Also, the open kitchen concept provides a really good ambience when you walk in. Great place to get your meals for the week everything is always been nicely prepared and delicious portions are generous and I've never had an issue with any of their products... I recommend if you're looking to save time and want some premade lunches or dinner. This is your place to go... Don't forget dessert.

I've had my eye on this place for a while. I always see different food items posted on Facebook as well as advertisement for their rotating menu.They have a four week rotating menu with different breakfast and lunch/dinner items that change each week as well as every day items that they cook regularly. I've been meaning to stop by because everything looks delicious, but it's a little up of the way from where I live. Today I finally got the chance to check it out and I'm glad I did. When you walk in the first thing you notice is that everything is super clean and well organized. This is mainly a meal prep service, however the food can be picked up to-go like a takeout restaurant. They do have pre-prepared foods, desserts, and salads available in fridges in the lobby for you to pick up a meal or you can ask what they have available from the weekly menu. One of the employees told me the only thing to be aware of is that pre-order is preferred because some of their meals sell out quickly. There's no guarantee that the meal that you want will be available unless you pre-order it. They also do delivery in Bakersfield for a $5 charge or $10 if it's over ten miles. You can see their rotating menu on the website and also order there as well. The food was delicious! They do not use any salt and all of the ingredients are really clean. The meals are a very simple but full of flavor. This is the perfect solution for if you want to meal prep but don't have the time or feel that you are lacking in the experience to do it yourself. These meals would fit into any kind of diet plan and they do offer gluten-free, Paleo, and proteins packs. I ordered the Asian sticky pork and veggies and one huge plus was that it had tons of meat! They definitely didn't skimp on the protein. It was the perfect portion! It had a great balance between fresh blanched Green beans and teriyaki style sauce with a variety of veggies and lots of sticky sauced pork. I'm excited for the next chance I get to try something else from Modern Grub!

Really enjoyed this place. Everything is pre-packed in plastic containers and you just grab and go. Perfect if you're on the go. There's a microwave you can use if you want to heat up your food there. There's also a few small tables right outside you can sit at if you wanted to eat there. I got salmon broccoli over brown rice and it was delicious. The best part is that everything is HEALTHY. The style of food is simple and homemade with natural ingredients and without the extra butter/dressing/sugar etc that restaurant food normally has. If you're looking for something fancy this is not the place, but if you want healthy, pre prepped meals that taste good and you feel good about eating you've found your go to spot. They also sell locally made fresh pressed juices and desserts. Also, I want to add that the shop is in the side of the business park (we didn't see any sign in the front of the lot that we could see from the street, so just drive around to the side until you see it). Plenty of parking.

Modern Grub is a great concept! My fiance and I have a hard time packing and prepping meals for work so we always end up eating junk. Well, to avoid that we went searching for meal prep services and decided to try Modern Grub first. There are a few things that I love about this place after trying. First, although it is semi confusing menu wise your first time, there was an amazing employee who was patient in explaining to me how everything works. Second, I like that they offer standard and rotating menus. Third, I love that they keep extras on hand so it isn't necessary to pre order absolutely everything. Fourth, the containers are very nice and easy to use. I also found the containers were all recyclable. Fifth, the variety was decent. Sixth, the meals we tried were very filling. The only criticisms I have is it is a *little* top end for my meal budget. The salads were $7.50 but they are filling, so that was alright but the entrees are a little pricier at $11 a piece. I think this is because they are protein heavy so costs are probably higher, but budget wise for me wanting to find something regular it isn't really going to work as a 4 day a week plan for me unless I survive off the salads. The other thing is these meals are on the bland side. I'm sure they are trying to navigate the fact people have special diet concerns that order from them and people wanting to keep calories as low as possible, so I get it, but still I will have to probably use sauces or something to flavor it up a bit for regular consumption for me. On the flip side, I could see this as a great option for elderly people needing meals delivered or just not knowing what to cook living alone. Great option! Overall, I would eat purchase again from here but I just don't think it will be a regular thing like I had hoped. I do love seeing businesses options like this in town and definitely recommend trying it out to see what you think!

Ehhh... probably won't continue ordering. I like the idea and convenience, but it's a little on the expensive side. The food is good quality, but not really to our taste... most items we've ordered have been pretty bland, and who wants to have to try and figure out how to add flavor when it's supposed to be a ready-to-go meal? The need is more than just a bit of salt/pepper. I've gotten delivery for the past few weeks, due to home/activity restriction following a medical procedure... and though I put a request in with the order to leave the delivery without the bag & ice packs (so I wouldn't have to make a special trip to return it), the request wasn't followed. For the price, I would have expected better attention paid. The inconvenience of a special trip to return the bag negated the convenience of the order.

The options are endless: gluten-free, keto-friendly, and all natural. Modern Grub is for everyone. Personally the most addictive food item is the Beyond Burger! A tasty burger for vegetarians, and even for those who are not, with red bell peppers, arugula, onion, and the vegenaise that elevates it into a couture burger! It's clean and fresh inside very open kitchen. They don't tend to run out of food as fast as they used too. The yogurts and deserts all have nutritional info on them. They are friendly and informative with questions related to your dieting goals and restrictions. Their ain't nothing but a G thing juice is delicious I love the tortillas I grew up with homemade flour and corn tortillas daily but these are really good healthy alternative.

Writing a review based on customer service which was excellent!! I bought my friend a gift card for her bday online and the gift card didn't reach my friend. So I called in 10 mins after close, and to my surprise Katie from MG picked up. I could tell she was exhausted from the day but that didn't stop her from trying to figure out how to get my friend the gift card. Even though I told Katie it would be fine if my friend got it the next day, she wasn't having it. Katie was determined and on a mission! She called me 20 mins later and sorted everything out with the owner and my friend got her gift card shortly after. When my friend got the gift card she was thrilled and raved on about how much she loves the food from MG!! So happy I decided to purchase from MG and looking forward to trying a meal or two when I visit my friend in Bakersfield. Thanks MG for being great and all your help!

If your looking for Real food not processed, that's also convenient this is your place. The The food selection ranges from every day items to gourmet. I think there's something for everyone. I've been using this for the past two weeks and I have never felt better. I think the cost of food per meal is reasonable when you consider the following factors. Most online food services food comes unprepared. Not to mention all of the extra packaging, fuel that goes into mailing it to you. Plus you have to be home in a reasonable amount of time to get that stuff before it goes bad.So I think this is a net positive for the environment and for my health.

This was probably the most God awful excuse for food that I've had in a very long time. I Purchased the steak breakfast tacos with scrambled eggs and pico from my local convenient store. The cost was $11.50 and for the meal it was 482 cal 42 g of protein and 12 g of carbs. The steak tasted like it was boiled. There was absolutely no appetizing flavor to it on top of the fact that it was like chewing on a leather belt. The eggs also had zero seasoning and the pico de gallo was big chunks of tomatoes with a little bit of cilantro sprinkled in. If you're into flavorless food that's overpriced you will absolutely love this. As for me I will never purchase this again or any other product that they offer. If you're wondering why I didn't give just one star it's because whatever the gluten-free tortillas were that were in there weren't half bad.

In Bakersfield for work and was getting tired of eating out at restaurants and looking for somewhat healthy menus - I'm not a fan of eating out too much. On my search for someplace offering healthy options, I ran into this little gem. Perfect meal prep concept for the lazy or the traveler. The food is delicious and doesn't have the heavy oily feel from regular restaurants. The menu rotates so you can always try something new! I will definitely be back while I'm here for work! I had the Thai chicken stuffed sweet potato and it was DELICIOUS - very juicy chicken and packed with flavor. I also had the peanut butter, chocolate and banana protein bar - also delicious and a great post or pre workout snack!

I like the concept of Modern Grub. The only thing I don't like is that they aren't keto friendly. Most of the food items they carry I could never eat because they simply have way too many carbs. What's healthy to some is not necessarily healthy to everyone. I wish they had low carb options and even considered carrying sugar free desserts. Their food might be nutritious for athletes and bodybuilders but for someone who's truly trying to watch their blood sugars and is trying to lose weight their not the best option. Especially if your diabetic. You'll end up in a diabetic coma with some of their desserts. If they ever considered expanding their low carb and sugar free options their sales would triple I promise you. Until then I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. I just wanted to add something to my last review . I'm in no way bashing this establishment. I have tried their food in the past and it was always fresh and delicious. I'm merely pointing out the fact that it would be nice if they would consider expanding their menu for different diets such as keto. That way it would be an option for people like myself who are diabetic but still enjoy a dessert every now and then. One of the things that would make a difference in their desserts is if they would just consider using stevia instead of other natural sugars that spike your blood sugar. There is one company in town that already does this and their called Monarch nutrition. Their desserts are delicious and yet their sugar free and sweetened with stevia and no artificial sweeteners. Love their food! They take meal prep to the next level. Every week the menu changes giving me variety but also consistency. They do sell out of their most popular items sometimes so their subscription option is great so I can be guaranteed my favorite meals. I am always on the go and love to juice in between my day and they have truly cold-pressed juices that are delicious and filling. They're honestly a great company and female owned.

So i did some research on healthy meal delivery places and Modern Grub sounded pretty great. I first chatted back and forth with them thru email with some questions and they were super nice and helpful. I placed my online order and set up for wednesday delivery. Since i haven't experienced this before i decided to get 5 dinners for myself. They are single serving meals so if you have a family that you want to feed you would need to order a meal for each person. The pricing is fine with me...and it's $5 for delivery to your home/office within 10 miles such a plus!! It's just so freaking easy!! i don't even have to think i just grab a meal out of the fridge and follow the directions for heating and within 3 min i have a yummy, filling, high quality, healthy dinner!! so last night i had the salmon, broccoli and brown rice with lemon...super delicious cooked perfectly i will admit i added a touch of sea salt (cuz i'm salty LOL)...tonight i'm eating the apricot turkey burger with goat cheese crumbles, fresh spinach and roasted butternut squash and balsamic dressing, sooo good!!! no i didn't add salt it was yummy on its own. i love that the calories, fat, carbs and protein are all counted for you. my delivery came on time in an insulated bag when promised. I'm sold i will be ordering regularly such a great concept!! Oh i actually took pics lol just not of the salmon i was too hungry last night ;)

Walking in for the first time, I was not sure what to expect. Big, open, CLEAN space that looks like it could be a chef's dream for cooking. Smelled great. Of course I left with 2 meals for hubby to try. He is my guinea pig I guess! So far he has loved the breakfast (healthy protein pancakes with eggs and bacon). Next to try, he has a chicken club on a waffle with salad. All look good, healthy. Staff were very patient in explaining the ordering, the concept and they had no problem showing me everything there is to choose from! Lots of choice. Meals are made Sundays and Wednesdays and they make extra - so if you are not into pre-ordering, you can go and buy what you want. Everything stays fresh and the meals are always rotating. They are $10 each. It is better than fast food which we have moved away from and it is convenient for busy people that cannot be in the grocery store every day. Will be back often!

Super friendly service staff and an amazing selection healthy options for my autoimmune diet! Please try their paleo, gluten free brownies. These brownies are the only sweet that I can eat, as I haven't found another place that counts out sugar, dairy, bad flours, and gluten. They are to DIE for and only have natural ingredients for even the strictest of food restrictions. The prices are a bit higher, but as a customer who understands that you get what you pay for, I'm willing to pay extra for the mindful ingredients. Thank you Modern Grub!

This place is amazing!!! They have a wonderful variety of meals to choose from each week & it just helps people who are busy stay on track when they don't have time to meal prep themselves. Amazing!!! I am Gluten, Corn, Grain intolerant. I am traveling from Arizona to Sacramento. So hard to eat on the road!! I found Modern Grub on find me GF. It was excellent. Selection was amazing, food was excellent! Portions are generous and price was great. Spent an extra 30 minutes just talking to Amy the owner.

Staff is very friendly and helpful and I love the convenience of the meals and the nutrition info is very helpful. My only complaint is the steak is always super tough. Am I the only one who thinks this? Chicken is also usually dry. Best meals are the turkey chili, shrimp meals and any shredded meat meal.

Absolutely love this place! $10 for any main entree & its a good amount of food. ALWAYS fills me. Best part is a rotating menu so if you go there often like I do you will never get tired of the food since its different every week. They have a microwave for your convenience if you want to just heat it up and eat there! The ladies are honestly so sweet & always spark up conversation when you go in. Rv trip and fridge froze everything. Stopped in and picked up eggs with blueberry pancakes and spaghetti squash bake which were delicious. Took the chicken and steak meals for later as well as lemon bar and hummingbird cake which might not last until lunch lol Everyone was very friendly and helpful! Very well priced and portion sizes! If we're ever back in the area, will definitely stop in.

Been wanting to try healthy fast food options lately. Did some research and based on reviews chose to try Modern Grub. I'm so glad I did. My husband, me and my 6 year old walked in and were greet by Jenna. She spent time with us showing us what they had in for that weeks menu and we picked a couple different items. I loved how they have a couple options for kids as well! My son got the Pizza Bites and loved them! We own our own business and I rarely have time to cook so we have noticed the lbs packing on and def feel how unhealthy we are eating. This place makes me so happy knowing I have healthy fast options. I like after a hard day Ior a long day I'm not stuck in the kitchen for two hours, it's fast and my family is eating healthy clean food!! And I can enjoy my family without the guilt of feeding them greasy unhealthy foods. I definitely felt like a mommy win today when my husband and son were both full, and I knew they ate well. My husband eats a lot and he loved every bite and said he couldn't finish the last couple bites. Perfect portions. Literally can't wait to try my other meals tomorrow and the next day. The establishment itself was spotless clean and so calming as well, I didn't feel rushed to make a choice or crowded. The staff really helped us with our choices and that made us feel like we want to come back again and again and even next time we want to eat out we want to go there. They have seating and drinks and desserts as well. This is definitely going to make eating healthy and clean a lot easier and get my McDonald's loving son on board I wish I could give them ten stars. I'm extremely satisfied with my experience, I'll be honest I've put it off for awhile nervous there wouldn't be something for my son or enough food for my husband but that is not the case all all. Modern Grub has some new loyal customers for sure! I also love that they are locally owned and operated.

I just tried it for the first time. Delicious food- especially the desserts. My husband and I both eat Paleo. Great for on the go - however, the service left something to be desired. The directions on all the food says "Heat 2-3 minutes ". That's it. The first time I followed the directions on two dinners and heated 2 1/2 minutes. The result? Melted containers of sauces on the inside of the package , and items scalding with steam . I learned in the first dinner to wait before removing the lid , but the plastic sauce container was wasted . The meal ruined. $10 down the drain. When I returned to purchase some more desserts I mentioned the poor directions. All three employees simply made excuses for their inadequate directions and said, "we ran out of room on the label". No , "Can we replace your $10 meal?" Just excuses. The owner should take some responsibility for this before someone else is burnt or has a ruined meal. With melted plastic. It makes me not want to return - I offered them suggestions - they gave me excuses Oh, but said, "Have Nice day " on my way out. Buyer beware -

So happy I found this place while traveling on business to Bakersfield. Picked up a couple of meals (dinner and breakfast) so that I could eat healthier than "going out" while away from home (hotel had a kitchenette, so this was extremely convenient). Meals were great tasting and the portions were generous. Why isn't there a place like this in my home town?

Yesterday I stopped by to check this place out, since a friend recommended it to me I picked out four meals, I came on a low supply day but they did have a lot of items to choose even being low on supply. Today I tried Steak and Sweet potatoes and it was really good and I felt really full...in fact i still have some food left. So the $10 price is a fair price given the nice container and amount of good quality food you will receive.

I wish i could give them 1000. Absolutely amazing food. Great portions. I give a little feedback and they listen. Each meal gets better and better. Turkey chili is off the hook. Chickpea pasta amazing. I look forward to every meal.

I've been paleo for 6 mos and Modern Grub has been my favorite go-to for on-the-go meals. I am especially a fan of their paleo tortillas and yummy deserts! This place is a definite must try for anyone who's aiming to eat cleaner and healthier!

This was a fast easy way for me to cover my day when I forgot to meal prep. I stopped in for breakfast and lunch. They had several different options including Gluten free. Breakfast was blueberry GF pancakes, turkey bacon and scrambled eggs. Lunch was chicken, rice and black beans with salsa. Everything was good, I would have like more seasoning on the chicken, but probably because I am still breaking my addiction to salt. I will definitely go back. Fast and friendly service.

This place is amazing! I can't believe how much variety there is with the Rotating Menu. I have been buying the meals from Sullys Chevron on Stockdale. Very convenient! My favorite meal is the Korean BBQ Steak Bowl, but everything that I have tried has been excellent so far. Thank you Modern Grub!

This place is delicious and healthy all at the same time! The owners and staff were super friendly and took great care of us in explain their menu! Make sure you check this place out because all of the food is awesome!

MMMM! Muscle Grub is the best!!! I stop by WAY too much!!! Their food is fresh and always delicious! I love that they switch up their menu every week, so there's always something new to try! They also have a ton of options for people with dietary restrictions. And the staff is so nice!

I wanted something healthy but quick for lunch the other day, so I decided to give Muscle Grub a try. They had a great selection of healthy meals, and they tasted great! I understand they do more subscription type services as well. Their meals are probably a little pricey for me to do every week, but I'll be back for more meals periodically. $10 a meal, but the flavor was great, they tasted extremely fresh, and the portion size was more than generous. I'll be back!!

This place is amazing!! I'm so happy that Bakersfield has this healthy, clean eating option now. It's so hard to find gluten free sometimes and this place appears to have just about everything. We tried a couple of the dinners tonight for the first time - and WOW how can something this healthy taste so good??! Great job you guys. We will be back for sure.

Delicious food and I love that it is paleo friendly. Ordering process takes a few tries to fully understand but the staff is very patient in explaining everything.

Delicious! Healthy, gluten-free, Paleo, and just wonderful balanced food! Finding Modern Grub has been a lifesaver. I like to cook, but not all the time. Each of the meals I have purchased has been large enough to make 2 meals for me. They rotate their menu but also have regular items that are available all the time. They also offer delivery for a reasonable cost. This is a true jewel here in Bakersfield!

Very great and delicious food options if you are trying to eat clean, healthy, Whole Foods. I have been here numerous times and I have never had anything bad here. The owners are really nice people as well! 6 stars
