We decided to celebrate my husband’s birthday at Moderna Kouzina on
October/4/2018 about 2 months after their grand opening. We thought what would be better than trying a new place in downtown Edina. This restaurant has a good ambiance even thought it was too empty at 7:00 pm.
First of all, food portions are ridiculously small. I am a foodie, a world traveler, a former food instructor and also not a big eater. I have been in different parts of France many times and very familiar with this cuisine, but With all these standards being said , I never remember to pay $30 for an entree which was two pieces of cheese ravioli and two very small scallops and I am not kidding ,exactly two pieces of each. I wish I had taken a picture. As far as the taste , it was ok , nothing spectacular. So in my opinion this is called ripping people off not serving food.
Our server was a nice guy but neither cooperative nor well trained. I asked him if he can bring the pasta with meatballs for my 88 year old mom who doesn’t eat meat and this was one of the dishes in the menu with the star which meant to be served vegetarian as well. The server said right away: that is impossible since it’s going to be tasteless! So we changed our selection to just a salad ! Later when we asked him to bring us some type of red pepper flakes ( chilli or cayenne) on the side ,he said that they don’t have any in the kitchen, not knowing what he was saying he came back with some chilly pepper a few minutes later!
The last thing we asked him to do , was to cut the burger in half since my husband & I always share our meals . With no hesitation our server said NO again. This time his excuse was “it would ruin the presentation”. Here it comes the small hamburger later with nothing unique about the look , just too plain. So if the server could respect our wishes a bit more and not being negative about whatever we asked for, it would have definitely made our dining experience more pleasant.
Long story short , this place is not worth your money and time . You can find way better restaurants in Twin Cities and I am certain they can’t survive a year like that.
