Popular Italian Market BYOB Sets Its Closing Date - Eater Philly

"Modo Mio was an Italian restaurant on Girard Avenue, also owned by Peter McAndrews. Although it closed two years ago, a new restaurant with the same name is planned to open at an undisclosed location." - Rachel Vigoda

I have to agree with a lot of other reviews in that the atmosphere isn't the fanciest or the most spacious. BUT, the food is Always amazing and the staff is fantastic. My taste in food has grown exponentially over the last few years and I am always blown away with every new dish I try here. Simply put, great price for nicely portioned and amazingly prepared dishes. BYOB is a plus too.

Had been suggested this place by a friendly stranger on a plane. He was a total foodie and this suggestion hit the mark. My wife and I adventures here and absolutely loved your dining experience. We did their full course meal for $40. Every dish we ate for better and better. It's BYOB and cash only. Would recommend to anyone interested in excellent Italian

This weekend was my first time and it did not disappoint, the food was phenomenal. Went with some friends that had been before and we had a wonderful evening. Staff and service were friendly and made sure you were well taken care of. It is on my top 10 list of best food I have ever had. Can’t wait till the next time I am in Philly because Modo Mio will most definitely be on the itinerary.

We were heading to the Fillmore (Philadelphia) for a concert and decided to stop at Modo Mio for a nice pre-concert meal. Wow. Great food, warm friendly service and at very reasonable pricing. We had time and selected the 4 course menu; each course came out well prepared, presented and really tasty. A fine restaurant if you're in the area; but if you're not it's well worth the trip.

Let me start by saying we had 8:00 reservations and we were seated at 8:05. The restaurant is ugly and run down looking and kind of dirty looking in my opinion. No atmosphere at all. You can see that the owner puts not one penny into the restaurant. The table and chairs are ugly the walls are ugly and you sit on top on one another!! 3,000.00 can improve the look of this restaurant in 3 days!! Spend some money....will ya!! The food was good...not great!

Generally when I think of Italian food in America, I think of averagely created "traditional" dishes. My experience at Modo Mio was a pleasant departure from my existing prejudice against Italian restaurants. I was more than pleased with the execution of every dish, first to last bite. Intending just a quick bite, thankfully, our server sold us tactfully on the "tourista" tasting menu, which is well more than worth a meager $40, for the chance to try several dishes (that we could bring our own wine was an added bonus). The meal capped with a shot of sambucca, and a chat and glass of wine with the chef, was a complete success, I will be back. You are appreciated.

This place is hands down my favorite restaurant in all of Philadelphia. I have never ever had a bad dish here and the service is always impeccable. I always reccomend Modomio to friends and family because they are guaranteed to have a great experience. The prices are reasonable, especially with the prefix menu, and the wine and spirits store across the street caters to the byob-ers perfectly. Modomio, keep doing what your doing!

Sunday prix fixe menu made for a great date night! Family style entrees to share, four courses including dessert! Very yummy, and easy location. It's a small location, so it feels very full and gets very loud
