Monza Pizza Bar Closed in Charleston | Eater Carolinas

"The downtown location of this burrito chain closed last month, drawing noticeable upset from locals who appreciated its long-standing presence; it had occupied that prominent corner for about 20 years despite a Chipotle being located just across the street." - Erin Perkins

Our first time here, Jackie and Brian were so helpful in guiding us on how the restaurant works, they're amazing! We received a card for Moe's from the Ontario Reigns at Toyota arena and decided to come to eat at restaurant before hockey game today... burritos 🌯🌯 and plates are great. What to thank the two staff members for helping us...Thx Jackie and Brian 🏒🌯🏒🙏🐯 Go Reigns Go 🏒🏒🏒💪🌯🐺🐻🐨🧸

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 the staff for their courteous, friendly, and expeditious service on this T-Mobile Tuesday. They remained calm and worked very well as a team considering the constant line. They maintained their customer-service oriented demeanor all the way until closing. It was so busy that they ran out of food and had to close a bit early. Excellent attitudes with a smile!

i came to moe's southwest grill with my dad and we ordered the steak bowls. they had a good variety of sauces and the bowl was enough to fill me up. the service was excellent. i liked how the dine in looked clean and fresh. i will definitely come back!

Google
Really good tasting, fresh Mexican food. The salsas were amazing with fresh warm chips. Love that they have an icee machine too!

Google
I love that they have the option of tofu. Choosing tofu with black beans, guacamole and brown rice for your burrito, bowl, or tacos makes a delicious, nutritious and healthy vegetarian or vegan meal. The service is very friendly and fast.

They had a promotion running, ordered online an hour before pickup. Lines out the door when I got there. Checked on my mobile order, kid said yeah then put a receipt on the edge of the counter with a dozen other ones. Stood there for 15 min with no progress on ANY of the dozen receipts. Asked the kid what's up with those orders, he replied that they'd start on them once the people in line in the restaurant were taken care of. That line was double what it was when I first arrived, I asked to cancel my order, the manager ignored me for a minute or two, then told the kid to take my name and number and they'll refund tomorrow. I WILL NEVER TRY ANY MOE'S EVER AGAIN!

Updated Review as of 8/8/2025: So as of late Moe's has been solid to at least provide a well sized burrito. For once, it felt like I was getting what you'd realistically expect for the price of the burrito. Updated Review as of 6/9/25: After going to Moe's for the last three weeks since opening, I have seen an unfortunate shift in this restaurant. The biggest problem I've been having is portion sizing. Their competitor, Chipotle, is actually outright cheaper than Moe's and gives you at least 10-15% more volume of food. It's crazy to me that they are ALREADY skimping on protein portions, and they haven't even been open a month. Their service is still good, but that doesn't matter when in this tough economy, people don't want to get gypped. For comparison, a regular Chicken burrito from Moe's via their app for pickup is $14.42 with no add-ons. Chipotle with the same standard chicken burrito is $11.48. That would mean you would pay an extra $2.94 for literally nothing going to Moe's over Chipotle. All Moe's has to do is not be worse than Chipotle, which all things considered is pretty easy to do. If I wasn't getting a free burrito a week for a year, I would not be spending my money at Moe's. Simple as that. First review from 5/16/25: Overall great place, first time trying Moe's out, and I was not disappointed. Reminds me of Chipotle, they move pretty quick, and the food options are solid for this type of venue. The Adobo chicken is good and so is the bacon you can optionally add to any order, they didn't skimp on protein either. Their guac was good too. They also have a good hot sauce selection, went with the Hard Rock Sauce, I just wish it was hotter and didn't have as much vinegar in it. They give you tortilla chips for free, and I think that's supposed to incentivize you to do the combo to get queso and a drink added. I didn't do the combo but will try it out next time for sure. Lastly, I was one of the lucky first 50 customers to get a year of free burritos, It's basically one free burrito a week. That will definitely keep me coming back.

Google
First time here and will definitely be back, Food was fresh and the older gentleman helping us was very friendly ! even let us try some of the proteins and sauces before adding it onto our meal! Prickly pear drink was delicious, liking this spot better than chipotle

Yelp
They are tucked in the corner of the shopping center, so you'll have to walk up stairs, to get to them. Ordered through the app, and when I arrived, my order was ready. I also redeemed a "Welcome" deal to get free Queso. I didn't know it came with chips as well, because I already opted to get the complimentary chips and salsa when I ordered online. No problem, the more the merrier. Was greeted right away when I walked in, even though they were assisting other customers with their orders. It was clean inside, very well kept. Seems to be a good review right, so why the 4-star rating?!?! Well, the Cilantro Lime rice in my Homewrecker Bowl, was either old, or under cooked. I'm going to go with old, and bottom of the pan old. Every bite, I had hard rice pieces that I had to keep taking out my mouth. The first time startled me, because I wasn't expecting to bite into anything hard, especially when I didn't order anything hard to go into the bowl. Then it happened again, and again and again. Throughout my entire meal, although I didn't finish it at once, what I did eat, contained hard rice in every fork full. Not something you want to keep experiencing unexpectedly while eating. That was my only issue, and that's why I gave them a 4. I was satisfied with everything else. Although the rice had hard pieces in it. The bowl itself was good, presented nicely, chips were fresh, ingredients were fresh, queso was good, and salsa was good.

Yelp
Was in the area for an appointment so I decided to stop in to Moe's to try. I've never heard of this place and in talking with the owner Mr. Jagdish, he said that Moe's is mainly in the east coast. He also said this is the only location in CA. Wow...! (I went on their website and technically there are two, but the other one is in the Camp Pendleton military base so it's not open to the general public). It's located in a newer plaza next to Starbucks and the Habit, plenty of parking in the back. First impression, this is like a Chipotle. You can order burritos, a bowl, or something called a stack - it's like a crunchwrap at Taco Bell (the kids had to tell me that one). So I ordered one of each, each with a different type of chicken they offered: tequila lime, white chicken, and adobo chicken. You can customize your entree with all kinds of toppings and sauces. And your meal comes with chips and salsa! I liked the food, my kids also liked it but prefer the food at Chipotle. Customer service was awesome, I really liked chatting with Mr. Jagdish and he was nice enough to offer me a bunch of different sauces to try.

Yelp
This place is horrible, management obviously doesn't know How to run this place. Food Is gross and specifically Diana she was rude when I asked why my order was late. Not coming back just because of her.

Yelp
First trying Moe's Southwest Grill and it did not disappoint! First thing that caught my eye while I looked at the menu was the Stack and I know I had to have it! I chose steak, cilantro lime rice, grilled pepper & onions, roasted corn, cheese, pico, sour cream, chipotle ranch dressing, poblano crema, guacamole & queso. Hubby ordered their Homewrecker bowl with everything in it! Love that you can customize your bowls, burritos or stacks to your liking. Service was awesome - greeted immediately as you walk through the door and multiple people at the counter helping you. Loved the selection that they had for drinks - first time ever seeing an Icee machine AND Hubert's lemonade so that was awesome in addition to your normal soda selection. Restaurant had a few tables inside and out. Will definitely be back again soon for another Stack and Icee!

Yelp
I was a part of the T-Mobile Tuesday FIASCO! What a mess. Was supposed to get a T-Mobile Tuesday deal from Moe's...showed up to a massive line. Them turning people away saying they're out of rice & beans. They ran out in the morning or afternoon & this was at night. Basically said all they could do is take names & numbers to get a refund. Over a week later & never got a call! Isn't about the money. It is about the fact that their workers & managers had absolutely no idea what was going on or what to do. And also no answers. How about a gift card? How about taking names to Come back a different day. You're going to call me for a refund??? Sham!

Yelp
Been waiting for this place to open for a hot minute and so glad they finally are. I got the burrito bowl. My daughter got the adobo chicken burrito and my wife got the nachos. We all LOVED what we ordered. The nachos had plenty of toppings and chips had good texture. I loved my bowl and the balance of lettuce to rice and there was plenty of meat too. The salsa was also delicious. I really liked the Moe's sauce too!! Only pictured the bowl cuz everything else was being demolished!!

Yelp
Having grown up on the east coast, Moe's was a staple and one of the things I really missed when I moved to California. I was so excited when I saw they were opening one in Rancho and they did not disappoint! I ordered online and picked it up during my lunch and they were very quick with my meal- when I got there they were bagging up my order. I got a stack and it was warm, fresh, and full of toppings. I got adobo chicken, regular rice, shredded cheese, pico, lettuce, and queso. I love that they also give you a free side of chips. The only thing I am bummed about is the lack of salsa bar that was at the previous Moe's locations I frequented. I'll definitely be back and am so happy this location is here (and close to my job!)

Yelp
How do you leave a negative star review? Rice was SALTY, steak looked grey, queso was the consistency of elmer's glue, salsa's had zero flavor, chips were stale and mid. Huge disappointment to spend $25 on a homewrecker burrito and drink for it to taste absolutely awful. Service was rushed, not pleasant and not trained well considering they had such a hard time ringing up... where was the training. Tables were dirty and unserviced and they had employees just chatting away and mixing/messing with the food when clearly things needed to be cleaned and it wasn't busy enough or staffed enough to have the seating area disgusting. Had to make sure to tell someone else coming in that Chipotle is a better on price, flavor and ambiance. Moe's you disappointed Rancho Cucamonga.

Alejandra

Yelp
Just not good. Tasteless rice beans and meat. The chips are stale. I don't know of they even try their own food. My entire family disliked all their food.
google avatar

Danielle D.

Yelp
Trust the 1 star reviews! I wish I would have checked the reviews before coming to save some money. We had the steak burrito, a steak bowl and queso for $46ish. The steak is flavorless, grayish and just not good. The seasoned rice had a weird taste. Moe's sauce tastes like it had way too many different spices in it. The queso was okay but didn't have much flavor. The salsas were also really lacking in flavor. It's just not good and so not worth the cost.
google avatar

Andrew B.

Yelp
Don't do it!! You're going to say to yourself "it can't be that bad and some reviews are really good". It CAN be that bad! Everything about the $2.99 extra charge streak looking grey is true. The chicken has no flavor. The ground beef tasted decent (like Del taco). We spent $58 for three with only one drink. Regretting going as I write this. Even grabbed a del taco box on the way home for whoever couldn't finish their Moe's. Now for the positive. The young girls they hired were super friendly and nice. Great customer service skills!

Yelp
My husband ate his chicken burrito and said it was fine.... I got a bowl with adobo chicken and was very underwhelmed. It all just seemed to lack flavor and spice. Perhaps southwest food from Atlanta just isn't my thing. It would do in a pinch but there are many other places around that I would choose before going back here.

Brandon S.

Yelp
This food nasty and overpriced! Staff is rude and the tables dirty! Go to chipotle save yourself some money from their gray steak

Yelp
First time at Moe's Rancho Cucamonga. The two young ladies that were in the store were very efficient and attentive. We will definitely come back. Daisy was super nice and very quick with it. She had us laughing.

Savannah L.

Yelp
It was our first time eating at Moe's, and Jack made the experience awesome! He had great customer service, super friendly, patient, and really helpful in explaining the menu and recommending what to order. Thanks to his suggestions, everything we got was delicious! The food was fresh and flavorful. We'll definitely be coming back again soon.

Yelp
Had Moe's in Rancho Cucamonga tonight and was very disappointed. The worker was cleaning and then didn't wash hands, grabbed gloves withh dirty hands then tried to make us our food until we kindly had to tell her to please wash hands and new gloves please. After that whole ordeal, the food was incredible bland and overpriced. I will not return sadly. Just wanted eveyone to be aware. I do not want anyone getting sick

Yelp
Finally! My fellow southerners and east coasters know how awesome Moe's is so please disregard the negative reviews because I just went yesterday and my food was amazing. I got a bowl with the chicken and it was very fresh and extremely filling and I also got it as a combo with chips, cheese and drink and the total came out to $18 and some change. It's not the cheapest but the portion sizes put Chipotle to shame, I literally couldn't finish 1/3 of it. But if you just get the bowl and nothing else and no upgrades, it's $12.99 plus tax. So, please pay them a visit and decide for yourself and remember: for every negative review, there's at least 100 other people who ate it, enjoyed it and didn't leave a review.

Yelp
Overall I thought the chicken bowl was really good! Similar to chipotle, however feels a bit cleaner and light. And every order comes with chips! My only little complaint is it's a dollar or two more than its competitors, however I'll still be returning. 9/10!

Yelp
Went this morning. The restaurant was clean and well stocked, well staffed. I love how brightly shines through the large spacious room. The food choices were many and everything was freshly made and just put out. There are many options and they will let you sample an item if you are in doubt. The price was reasonable, the serving staff was courteous and sanitary, ready to answer questions. I will be back as there are other combinations I want to try.

N H.

Yelp
I do not recommend eating here. Service sucks. The stake looked horrible. There were several Ladies just standing around not helping move the line. First day of opening and I found a plastic piece mixed in my food.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here with my wife and it is similar to a Chipotle. My wife absolutely hates Chipotle, but she loved coming to MOE'S. The food was good and the employees were very nice, great customer service by them. We went in the first they opened, I apologize for waiting to review. It looked really nice and clean inside, the ambiance is very welcoming. This is a new location, the employees are newly trained cut them some slack people. The employees here were very very friendly, its hard to find good employees and MOE's did a great job finding great staff.

Carla A.

Yelp
We had Moe's back when we were on a trip in New York and we were so glad to see they had one open up near to us. Food is amazing. Definitely recommend to have some of the chips and queso.

Janice G.

Yelp
Not as good as Chipotle, but just as expensive! Ordering on-line is confusing. Thin Queso! Moe's sauce is not good. No Curbside pickup!

Yelp
I went this Monday and I was excited to be told that they have an amazing deal called a "Moe's Monday". I was stoked! Bowls and burritos are only 7 and 8 buck! SCORE! The Atmosphere was clean, staff was chill, I was helped out by a tall girl with light blonde brown hair unfortunately wasn't able to get her name but she was a doll. will be back soon, perhaps this Moe monday! HA HA!

Darcie S.

Yelp
I'm sorry... I didn't even take the leftovers home. Nicest girls working. They need to start looking for new jobs because its pretty bad food. Clean inside, but I still can't eat here again..

Mark H.

Yelp
I went with a hopeful expectation this would be similar to Chipotle. The place was very clean, well lighted and had friendly servers. My wife and both had a bowl, one with chicken and the other steak. They both came with chips and salsa. Food was OK. I feel Moe's is a fast food version of Chipotle. Meaning lower quality food, with the bulk being canned and packaged. Not uncommon in the fast food industry. The queso cheese was runny like Elmer's glue. Not like the thicker queso at Chipotle. The salsas were also watery. Within less than an hour of eating our food we both had to run to the bathroom. Not quite the experience I was looking for since we spent over $40. Based on that I can only rate a one star and that's for the nice staff. I can't recommend and unfortunately won't be coming back.

Karen W.

Yelp
Staff friendly, helpful. Prices good as Monday special unfortunately the food disappointing. My husband got the chicken burrito and I got chicken salad. Chicken prices are so tiny I wasn't sure if chicken or corn but the chicken was very bland. Tasted as if wasn't even salted and definitely not grilled as stated. Perhaps cooked off site and bagged and reheated but it was cold. Veggies were good Wouldn't go again unless something changes. Sorry

King V.

Yelp
We were excited to try this restaurant, but were quickly disappointed. The service was awful specifically with Daisy. The food was bland and did not taste fresh. We will not return.

Yelp
iI was exited to see this place close to home , one day I make a stop and I got one chicken taco and one carne asada taco . Carne asada no flavor taste it like boiled beef and I didn't like the flavor of the chicken .I paid over 12 dollars for two tacos , they did asked me if I wanted to chips and I said yes . I did not like the salsas at all . the young lady that helped me was very nice but unfortunately I did not like the food . I feel bad because I think the owners were day and they seen very nice people but the food is not good .

Dana M.

Yelp
My daughter just ate here yesterday night got food poisoning had to take her to urgent care I should of look at the reviews don't eat here

abisai e.

Yelp
The ingredients were lacking of FLAVOR it needs salt, herbs, or spices to enhance its natural taste it tastes bland because theres no depth of flavor.

Yvette B.

Yelp
I was excited to try a new place ...Food was not good at all . I had a salad and the prepackaged salads at the grocery store taste better the foods very processed and over priced after spending $50 there. I will not be going back. My husband agrees he did not enjoy it at all. Very disappointed threw it in the trash

Melissa H.

Yelp
What can I say. To be honest I had a weird experience. I went in for lunch, June third, to get a bowl and I saw that the cashier had her toes out and she wasn't even in uniform. It looks like she doesn't work there it's unprofessional and disgusting. I couldn't tell if she was either the owner or manager there because every other employee had a uniform. I will never be going back if that lady is there and I will be calling the health services department because that is disrespectful and disgusting to all the customers. It isn't so hard to look presentable when working with customers at a restaurant. I would've given this review 5 stars. However, due to the unprofessionalism of the lady on register, it was disappointing. Everything else was a great experience for this new place.

Dylan C.

Yelp
The food here was amazing! I got a chicken burrito for a great price and the rice was amazing, I enjoyed the queso and guac on the side with a slushy. The service was great, specifically highlighting "Isabella", who helped me navigate the menu as it was my first time. Will definitely be coming back.

Eryka C.

Yelp
i came to moe's southwest grill with my dad and we ordered the steak bowls. they had a good variety of sauces and the bowl was enough to fill me up. the service was excellent. i liked how the dine in looked clean and fresh. i will definitely come back!

Jeannette S.

Yelp
This is a fake one star. It should be a zero or worse. We were excited to eat here and finally made it Saturday. It cost $63.00 for three of us with NO drinks. The "grilled" steak (+$2.99) looked boiled and the ground beef was greasy. The queso was gross and the guacamole (+$2.50) was 1/2 spoon with no flavor. We will never be returning. Chipotle is 100 times better. The service was also subpar but I will give them a pass because it is new. Unless they drop the price and increase quality they will not make it a year.
