The 38 Best Restaurants in Osaka, Japan | Eater

"There’s no better example of new-wave ramen than Moeyo Mensuke. Started by classically trained chefs, the austere, expensive-looking storefront still commands painfully long lines. The exquisite duck ramen is more than worth the wait, putting the luxurious flavors of Wakayama prefecture’s revered Kishu duck at the forefront of a shoyu (soy sauce) soup. The bouncy noodles and rare, smoky duck meat on top round out a bowl that’s way more opulent than its price point. Know before you go: Be ready to wait in line 30 minutes to an hour. Arrive before 11 a.m. or 6 p.m. to be among the first through the door for lunch or dinner." - La Carmina

Never had duck ramen but all the great reviews prompted us to try it on this trip. The queue moved slowly during lunch for the 3 of us, due to the small counter only restaurant. But, the food was well worth the wait. The nice woman that managed the queue and ordering was so nice and efficient. She was always smiling and patiently showed us how to order using the machine and explaining the options. The inside was very clean and counter seating comfortable. For the ramen, the duck slices were thin and tender. The broth was light and had so much meaty flavor. We watched the leeks being grilled and were so surprised that something that looked so simple can taste that good. The noodles had a great chewy texture. The egg and bamboo shoots complemented the ramen well. It was such a tasty bowl of deliciousness. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Incredible ramen experience — absolutely worth the hype. The noodles are excellent: firm, springy, and clearly high quality. The soup really stood out to me — deep and rich flavor but not too salty, which is rare. You can tell a lot of thought went into balancing the taste. What made it even more special were the toppings: juicy roasted chashu, beautifully pink slices of meat, bamboo shoots, a quail egg, and some dried vegetables that added a creative touch and a different texture. Everything was well-seasoned and came together perfectly. The presentation is beautiful, and the set comes with a small glass of beer, which was a nice bonus. Price-wise, it’s great value for the level of quality you’re getting. The only catch is the wait — we lined up for almost two hours. But honestly, after tasting it, I can see why. The shop has a quiet, clean vibe and feels like it’s run by people who really care about the details. If you’re a ramen lover or even just curious about high-level Japanese noodles, this spot is 100% worth the visit. Just be prepared to wait a bit — it moves slowly but delivers big.

This is, without a doubt, my favourite ramen spot ever. It was almost a spiritual experience. I had the duck ramen. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the broth was rich with duck flavour, soulful, aromatic, and deeply satisfying. It struck a perfect balance. Not too light and not too heavy. Every element felt deliberate. I teared up on my first bite. It touched my heart in a way that only truly great food can. Don’t skip the chashu rice either. It was beautifully seasoned and cooked to perfection.

Incredible. There is a reason people line up outside bc the food is worth it. The line moves quickly. You order from a vending machine and they make it on the spot. Only about 7 seats so come by yourself or bring one friend.

One of the most delicious Ramen I ever ate. We had to wait in line for 30 Minutes because the demand was very high, however we didn’t get disappointed. The store is very clean and professional. The staff is very friendly and the overall experience was amazing!

Google
One of the top ramen spots according to tabelog. Specializing in duck and scallop based broths I had the seafood focused bowl (as opposed to the duck one) The broth was clean and refined yet complex. The bowl was assembled well. Showed up around 45 mins before the lunch opening and was second in line. By the opening time, the line extended to about 20 ppl so about 4 waves of seating (1 hour, restaurant only has 8 seats)

It's worth the trouble, it's worth the line, it's worth the wait, it's worth the hype. Generally speaking the first big button on the ramen ticket machine is the house special and the one to get. At Moeyo Mensuke this still holds true, the special duck soba with thigh meat is the way to go. There's a lot going on but nothing dominates and instead the components compliments each other very well. The broth is rich in flavor and holds up to the other items without being too salty. The noodles are springy and firm. You get some nice char and textural contrast with the leeks and classic menma. The meats are tender and taste great on their own, and the egg is seasoned and has the perfect consistency. Don't forget to order the pork rice bowl!

Came here for a bowl of hearty shoyu based duck ramen. Super famous, I suggest you to come before its opening hour. 10.30 is just perfect. Waiting for around 25-20 minutes until I got to enter the restaurant. Should order 1 ramen bowl each person, but they also have small portion of duck/pork rice, you can order them besides the ramen. My first time trying shoyu based ramen, quite nice, worth trying. It's clear and comforting. Agak asing rasanya bagi aku yang biasa makan miso based or tonkotsu based ramen soup. Star of the show was the layer of duck meat, sangat lembut, easy to chew, smokey, love it. The ramen egg was perfectly cooked too. Smoked duck rice nya juga enak ya, ini sering sold out. Smoked pork rice juga best seller. Overall, worth the hype untuk shoyu based ramen. Meskipun untuk thick ramen broth lover like me, aku sih ga sampai yang suka banget dengan kuahnya. Unik dan interesting. Popular among locals.

Yelp
One of the best ramen on earth! I have visited Mensuke 3years ago. At that time ramen was "very delicious" level. But today, OH MY GOSH! this ramen is mind blowing! It's heaven for tongue. Soup is so smooth, bamboo shoot is next level, all ingredients are so well prepared. Only one cons is seasoning egg should be a little more salty for me. Ramen was served in 10seconds after I got seat. I waited in line for 30minutes but it's definitely deserved! This ramen is far best in Kansai area. Only one ramen come close to Mensuke is legendary Shina sobaya by Minoru Sano in my opinion. I definitely come back to Mensuke!!

Yelp
Came here at 6:30 on a Saturday, and waited about 25-30 minutes (the line was long, but there was fast turnover). I'll admit that I came in with some trepidation due to other reviews about being hustled out of the restaurant and forced to eat quickly, but those fears were unfounded. The chefs were friendly; other people took photos of their food without being scolded. As long as you didn't dilly dally for too long, you were fine. The place is designed for efficient eating, but you don't need to rush. I got the duck ramen with egg. The meat was smoky and tasty, and the egg was perfectly cooked. The ramen had good bite, and the soup was deeply flavorful. If I had more time, I'd probably return to try their other broths as well.

Yelp
My favorite ramen in Osaka. It's called " Moeyo Mensuke" Best ramen ever duck & chicken & fish broth and tender duck Cha-shu ! It's perfect. If you visit OSAKA and if you are ramen lover, you guys should try here! But, you have to wait like 1 or 2 hours to get seat... there is no VIP line.lol

Yelp
In an unsuspecting alleyway, about a 25 minute wait at lunch time. This is a must try. Incredible broth and the duck adds a nice richness. No English menus and the ordering system is done via vending machine once inside the restaurant. I just choose the very top left button that I assumed was their standard bowl. There is a hostess that can try as help as well. I ate Ramen 3-4 times over a 10 day period at some of the highly regarded joints and this was by far my favorite. Don't miss this while in Osaka! Worth going out of your way for.
