"This restaurant has the feel of a favourite neighbourhood hangout. Steeped in tradition, it is located in the heart of Graz's old town, between Kunsthaus Graz and the church, Mariahilfkirche. From the terrace, you have a front-row view of the city. This pleasantly modern, rustic-style establishment is run by Romana Maria Pieber and Lukas Lepsic, who are committed to sustainable practices and using organic produce. The menu features regional and traditional Austrian fare with modern and seasonal influences, eg organicBackhendl(breaded fried chicken) in a basket, or organic lamb sugo with aubergine, polenta, sheep's-milk yoghurt and lemon pickle. On Saturdays, there is also boiled organic beef served in a traditional copper pot. Book early to avoid disappointment! Small set menu available 2-5pm." - Michelin Inspector

Wonderful experience! The tartare is fresh and the seasoning is special without covering the original taste of the meat. I would definitely recommend it. The Schnitzel is great with crispy outer layer. They have two options for it: one is pork and another is veal. We tried the pork one and they handled the original taste of the pork very well. Also, I was impressed by the potatoes. The cake of the day is delicious too. It’s not too sweet and won’t make you feel too much after finishing it. And the ice cream dip is a surprising fit for the cake. Staff are friendly and caring. Had a great time eating here. PS. The cake of the day might vary by chef’s choice and the wait time is a bit longer than other dishes (about 20-30 minutes), so if you’re tourists rushing between attraction spots, do think it thoroughly if you have time for it before you order it.

Mohrenviert is a restaurant I discovered thanks to Google reviews, which were very encouraging. I visited around 3 PM, and it seems that between 2 PM and 5 PM the menu is a bit more limited, more of a bar-style menu compared to what they serve after 5 PM. That said, we had a really delicious meal. The beef tartare was absolutely amazing – highly recommended for anyone who loves tartare. The taste was incredible, almost making you wonder whether you’re eating meat or some kind of perfectly prepared vegetables. Truly outstanding, easily a 10/10. We also had the Wiener Schnitzel. The choice was a bit limited at that time of the day, but the schnitzel was very tasty and well prepared. If you’re a fan of schnitzel, you won’t be disappointed. Finally, we tried the half chicken (I don’t recall the exact name). We expected it to come in pieces, but it was breaded, a bit in the style of KFC – still very tasty and enjoyable. The staff is very friendly, though sometimes they don’t immediately notice guests, which can make the service feel a bit slow at times. Overall, a great experience and definitely worth visiting if you’re in Graz

With just one night in Graz and no bookings we turned up at Mohrenwirt based on the reviews, and despite the place being packed they quickly seated us at the bar. I’d describe the food here as being comfort food, but it was very good, and the service was warm and friendly and the wine recommendations were superb. A great first night stop in Graz.

This restaurant looks very cosy inside. It struck me for their regional products and the high quality of their ingredients. The salad was amazing - a big portion full of taste. Also the carrot - very buttery yet the lemon zest gave the freshness needed. Really good presentations overall. The meat was so tender and the wine was good too. The only down side was that I felt waiters to be slightly stressed and after having finished my meal, I was told that I had just 15 more minutes - something that wasn’t mentioned during the booking. Still, I do recommend this! Also very central in Graz.

An amazing culinary experience, I had the cucumber soup and the tartare, my girlfriend had the beef goulash and both were amazing, with complex and original flavours. It’s been a while we hadn’t enjoyed a restaurant like this, 100% recommend.

Simply amazing! The food could not be any better. The service is superb and the atmosphere is very good too. It's definitely recommended to get a reservation, we were lucky they had a table without reserving in advance. The price is on the higher side but it's totally worth it. My go to restaurant in that area.

Great hospitality, friendly and dedicated staff really add up to the charm of this attractive restaurant in Graz city center. Menu has interesting main courses, dominated by classic Austrian dishes. Food was very tasty and the portions are generous. Traditional Kaiserschmarrn dessert is served with plums and ice cream Due to the specific cooking process and the fact that it needs to come to the table fresh and hot, it takes around half an hour to serve it after the order, but it is well worth to wait - sugar turning into caramel as you are enjoying it is a special gastronomic reward. All in all, this was one of the best presentations of continental Central European cuisine I tried and it offered a very Mediterranean combination of heartiness and natural, full tastes of food which I didn’t find before in Austria or Germany.
