My favorite coffee Roastery shop in town. I always pick up a bag or two when I’m in town. If you buy a bag you get a free drip coffee of the day. Today was a medium roast from Guatemala. I love the covered outside seating, music is always great. Fantastic place to relax and enjoy great coffee, good place for friends. In the evening it is a cocktail bar though I have not tried it as such. Definitely a place you will enjoy, especially their coffee.

I spent several days working remotely in St Joe while my child attended a theater camp, and I happened to find Mokaska on the first day. The staff is very kind, welcoming, and attentive. It's a great space with a fantastic covered patio, the coffee shop seating, plus a big gathering space in the adjacent room with many tables, board games, and a cute turtle in a tank. The food options were limited when we were there, and I never really got a clear answer about what they typically have available, as it seemed to change daily. That said, they made a delicious cinnamon, raisin, nut scone. I spent most of my time on the patio (they even have big oscillating fans that keep it comfortable on very hot days), and I was able to plug into an outlet and use their free high speed internet. My only issue with the "atmosphere" is that smoking is allowed on the patio. Of course, I could have gone inside if it really bothered me, but it was so nice being outdoors that I chose to just ignore it the handful of times someone was smoking out there. They do roast their own beans on site, which was a huge plus for my coffee loving husband. Definitely check this place out if you want a chill, welcoming place to spend a couple hours.

Got a hot mocha, an iced mocha, and two ricciatelli cookies. I meant to eat one and take one home but sadly they both found their way into my tummy on the drive. Coffees were REAL coffee, not burnt beans to make up for inferior quality, strong, chocolate flavor was good and strong but NOT sickly sweet. I wish I were downtown more often, but then again I don't because I'd never kick my caffeine addiction if I were close to this place!

Google
Outstanding service. Coffee was delicious! The vegan breakfast burrito surpassed my expectations. The atmosphere is very welcoming. Will return.

Google
A coffee shop along the downtown with just the right ambience for chit chats. It has nearby steakhouse and open pub houses especially during dusk.

Google
We've been twice this week while we are in town. They serve excellent coffee, have a family friendly atmosphere and clearly care about their community. Love love love this place. We will be back.

Google
I love Mokaska and have made it a weekly hangout spot for a few friends and I! Their new location has a super spacious patio with a stage area for music. And indoors is super cozy and had a great selection of liquor and beers. Not to mention the fresh roasted coffee and gourmet loose leaf tea! Both unisex bathooms have a changing station as well. Superb. They also support local artists and musicians, so you're likely to find yourself hearing something wonderful when you visit.

Google
This is the best coffee shop in town. I’ve tried them all here , This one doesn’t disappoint . Highly recommend!

Yelp
My favorite coffee shop in Saint Joseph, Missouri. I always stop and buy some of their roasts. They always have great music playing and I really enjoy their outside seating covered with an awning. Today's coffee is a medium roast from Guatemala. Free refills on drip coffee, and a free cup when you buy a bag of their beans.Excellent place to kick back or meet friends for great coffee.

Yelp
The coffee was great!! Strong but not bitter! Nice workers and let us try kombucha (which was on tap)

Yelp
I went to Missouri Western State and now I live in St. Louis. I think about this coffee every single day. Not a day goes by when I don't want to hop in my car and get an Oatmeal cookie latte. There's a million coffee shops in St. Louis and nothing compares. Service 10/10, wonderful people. Ambiance 10/10, I could live in there lol. Coffee 1000/10, might just drive the 4 1/2 hours to make my dream come true. Love this place

Yelp
I love the variety of their specialty coffee. I asked for something special and they created it. The staff is always friendly and the coffee is yummy!

Yelp
Great coffee house in St. Joe. Needed a cup of coffee fix before a meeting and had time to kill, what a great local place! When people come in and the barista says, "the usual?" you know they're doing something right.

Yelp
Two servers in an almost empty business. One was friendly, other was terrible. Glass of cheap wine was $7 for two ounces--complete ripoff. Brought the short pour to their attention and she could not have cared less. Very bad attitude. Espresso drink was weak. Pastry was stale. The ambiance is shabby and the bathroom was gross. Never going back. There's plenty of better places nearby.

Yelp
Fully original and indulgent caffeine kingdom with crafted in-house made ingredients spread across a beautiful menu of original brew flavors. There is a fun hipster vibe here with long drinks as well and a nice outdoor patio area, easy to spend plenty of good time here. I had to get two drinks since we only had minutes to drop in, the spiced brown sugar hit on all the right levels. The blueberry cardamom was a bit boring compared but a nice winter beverage as well. If only this was closer to Indiana, I would quickly try every single drink here! There was a peach kombucha on top alongside the beers which only made me wish for another one of these on the way home, alas closed on Sundays. Glad I found this real surprise in the downtown Saint Jo area!

Yelp
Decent coffee. Fabulous patio area that is really nice to sit and enjoy when the weather is agreeable. There are nice sitting areas inside to visit with friends.

Yelp
Cold brew for the WIN! They have a moderate selection of sugar free syrups. I like the lids for the to-go cups. Not for straws, but for sipping. It's the little things in life... The atmosphere was GREAT. Nice place to chill out.

Yelp
I actually went in the evening for a cocktail, so I can't say much about a latte or anything, but I love coffee and I love coffee cocktails so this was a super exciting place to be. It's really cute inside, and the baristas/bartenders were sweet. I made my own cocktail with cold brew, khalua, and cinnamon dolce (i think) syrup. It was so tasty. I'll have to go back in the morning (and then again in the evening) the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
Coffee was pretty good, but just Truvia at the "fixings bar" - that new age only selection mentality won't appeal to everyone....including me.

Patrick L.

Yelp
great coffeeshop!! happened to find this gem on a stop through in St Joes. Friendly staff..great coffee and comfortable ambiance. Great side patio w/relaxing music . definitely worth the stop ! will be back

Yelp
Came to town for a wedding, coffee shops are a must when traveling! This place was so good. I got a vanilla white mocha latte, it was perfection! Definitely a great place to stop and get a good coffee.

Yelp
The barista was a sweetheart. She was fun and talkative and it was pleasure to spend a few minutes with her. The coffee was good and when I realized that Mokaska didn't sell pastries she suggested a great French bakery, Brioche, which was right around the corner. I'd eagerly return if I was ever in town again.

Yelp
Do yourself a favor and check out Mokaska. The coffee and matcha lattes are fantastic. I didn't have any of the food but it looked great!

Yelp
I found this place while in town with my husband for business. My drink order, simple, hot oat milk latte. It was so good the first time, I've been back every day since. I also grabbed a bag of their "Reanimator" Espresso that I'm looking forward to drinking when I get home. I highly recommend stopping by and trying them.

Yelp
If you are headed down I29 and don't mind going a little ways out of your way for a great cup of coffee, I highly recommend Mokaska. Good coffee and a fun vibe in downtown St Joseph. Locally owned and operated.

Yelp
As a coffee snob I can highly recommend Mokaska CC. They roast their own beans, and have friendly and great staff that knows how to make a great coffee. In addition, -pet friendly -nice atmosphere -nice customers -great Kombucha on tap.

Yelp
I'm a Seattle coffee snob. I have had some of the best coffee all over the country. Mokaska has some very flavorful coffee to serve up. Tips: Forego the homemade syrups - and instead opt for the Cappuccino! The espresso is amazing here and no need for sweetener - a bit of creamy foam is all you need.

Jessi O.

Yelp
You walk in Mokaska and know they make good drinks. The latte didn't taste burnt, it had a smooth taste. Definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
This has become my favorite coffee place in St. Joe. Great service, delicious freshly roasted coffee. And the atmosphere is cozy and friendly.

Yelp
Great place downtown. Hip, comfortable, clean, & super tasty coffee and beers. Two thumbs up!

Yelp
Very unique cozy spot! Came in for a warm coffee on a cold day and ended up staying for the poetry reading that was going on that night. Mokaska already had a great vibe, but the addition of the cocktail menu and later hours on Friday and Saturday makes it even better! The friendly barista/bartender gave us menu recommendations as well - kombucha on tap!! Like many businesses in the St Joe downtown area, I'd love to see this café get the attention it deserves! Forget Starbucks, go here.

Stephanie A.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and even better coffee! Can't wait till warmer weather to sit on the outside patio.

Yelp
I have a client not far from this coffee shop, and I will drive past every Starbucks just to get to this diamond in the rough. First time I went here, I ordered my usual (for any coffee shop), a cafe mocha. They were out of syrup for mochas. I hastily ordered a vanilla latte, thinking "I won't be back here". Boom! The best latte I have ever had! On my last trip, I did try the mocha, and again was happy as a clam with my beverage. The best part, the drinks are less expensive than most! Cute decor and cozy setting. Definitely recommend this place, and will be back every time I'm in the area.

Alison S.

Yelp
I am a tea drinker and like most tea drinkers, I usually find that I can do better preparing it at home. There are two places in the whole country that I would buy a cup of tea from and this is one. The cocktails are also good. I love this place and so glad they are in my home town. I love the outdoor patio also.

Yelp
Great coffee! Simply the best in town and maybe the whole state. I'm super excited to try their barrel aged coffee!
google avatar

Kelsey P.

Yelp
Love this place. I like to drink my coffee black, and Mokaska is hands down the best place around where each roast is distinct and flavorful! They're knowlegable and friendly. Great downtown atmosphere too.

Morgan F.

Yelp
Terrible service. They took our order and started our coffee, then as other people came in took their orders and finished their drinks before ours. We finally had to go up and interrupt the fifth time this was going to happen. Plus it was very dusty and unclean.

JJ S.

Yelp
Stopped in for just a coffee. There's so few options downtown and I'm glad this place is here. Friendly staff. Pleasant atmosphere and decor. The coffee was great!! Better than Starbucks. Better than Hazels (though I like them too). Price was decent for a downtown city artisan cup. Just a few cents more than at the Bux. The flavor was very much worth it! Parking can be a bitch in the area but make the effort. You won't regret it.

Yelp
Amazing coffee! Amazing Vibe! My coffee was delicious, and made by a hardworking group of people, who are passionate about what they do! They are polite, and will never say anything bad about them! Would recommend the Cold Brew!
