Google
My favorite Omakase! Great location in East Village and the team is simply wonderful from Daniella and Veera to Chef June, everyone there feels like family. Service is quick and you leave satisfied for such an affordable price and a fabulous omakase experience. The fish is so fresh that it feels like the first time every time.

Google
(G)o for girls night (W)owed by the attentive service (but management is very slow to reply) (A)mbiance was intimate and for pairs or couples (M)enu was limited but that's to be expected for omakase, portion sizes are very small. Best menu item was the uni shooter. Also flagging no drinks only mocktails.

Stephanie B.

Google
Service was okay, omakase was tasty as we did the happy hour deal of a drink, miso soup. 5 pieces of nigiri, welcome drink and dessert at 5pm (price varies depending on what time you go). Would return we had a lovely time!

Canney C.

Google
New restaurant and still working through their service model. Went on a Thursday night for the $50 omakase. Fish was fresh. Dish well present but chef did not tell us what each item was when plating to us. Please note it's BYOB, but they will charge you $20 corking fee, which they didn't tell us up front. Waited a while for the bill after meal was completed and further waited ~15 mins to pay the bill. Jackets and bags were on at this point.

Google
Had an amazing omakase experience at Moko, a cozy sushi spot in East Village. 🍣 The sushi was exceptional, with ingredients flown in fresh daily from Japan. 🛫🇯🇵 The service was top-notch, and the chef was so friendly and welcoming. I especially loved the relaxed vibe—no strict meal times, just a chill, flexible dining experience. I absolutely loved it can’t wait to come back 🍣

Google
We came and ordered the 15-courses for around $100++/person. There is a wide variety of fish but i wouldn’t say they include a lot of premium options. The rice texture and flavors are great. The setting is ambient and you don’t have to wait in line. Personally I think the pricing is too high for the value we received, comparing many other omakase restaurants I have eaten.

Google
Came to Moko NYC for a valentines dinner without prior knowledge or expectations. The waitress Veera was beyond accommodating and hospitable!! Great atmosphere and food.. the 18 course meal is heaven sent! Most definitely will be coming back

Google
I made a reservation after seeing the 'Girls Omakase Night' ad on Instagram, which was $65 per person. The atmosphere was nice, but we were the only customers, so it felt too quiet. The 10-course sushi meal was finished in about 40 minutes. The sushi didn’t feel fresh, and they kept replacing sushi on the same Geta (wooden plate) from previous servings, making it wet. They don’t have beverages and operate as BYOB only. The total for two people, including tip, was $165—not worth it overall.

Yelp
Came here around 6PM on a Thursday with my gf for an omakase experience. I really liked the atmosphere and the interior that is bright with wooden accents. We were the first ones and had the counter to ourselves for the entire experience. There were a few groups that did come in, but they sat at the tables. The counter the sushi chef will serve the course one piece at a time. If you sit at the table, they'll make the entire course for you. At the time, there was only one chef, so either the people at the table were doing a lot of waiting, or the chef paused our course to make their entire omakase set. It would be wise to have two chefs on staff at all times so a party is not sitting around waiting. Props to Gip, our sushi chef, for juggling all of the orders and memorizing where we were on the course. We had the 18 course omakase ($125). Overall it was a great experience. The sushi selections were fantastic and fresh. The grande finale with the remaining four pieces was quite the show stopper with dry ice used as part of the presentation. Gip was super friendly and awesome throughout the entire experience. Maybe the only female sushi chef I've encountered, so shoutout to her for that.

Yelp
Came here for their happy hour 7 course special. However, I didn't realize that that was literally going to be five pieces of fish. We were seated at a table instead of the sushi counter, so got no interaction with the chefs or any kind of treatment that would make me say that this is an omakase, It was more of a expensive sushi place at a so so restaurant. The decor was a bit run down and all over the place, but the service was pretty fast and friendly. The fish quality was fine, but definitely not worth the price. The BYOB was a nice touch for sure which definitely helps, but not much. Overall, an OK place if you are planning to drink a lot to recoup the costs of the fish, but would not recommend.

Yelp
Gotta love a targeted Instagram ad, because that's how I found out about Moko's happy hour omakase. For $48 we got miso soup, a salmon crispy rice appetizer, 5-piece nigiri and a mango sago dessert. Sounds like a deal! Unfortunately, I cannot say that it is. For the price and the quantity of the food you get, go anywhere else. 1. Miso soup was fine. I think that's difficult to mess up. Unlike most miso soups I've had, there isn't any seaweed or tofu - its just liquid - just so you know! 2. Salmon crispy rice was delicious. The sauces were a good addition. 3. I like omakase because I get the opportunity to try new types of sushi/nigiri. I wasn't too big of a fan of 3/5 of these options. One was fine, one I thoroughly enjoyed. Of course that's a risk you take, but I've had much more successful omakase experiences in the past and this one fell flat. 4. Mango sago dessert was tasty - I love mango and I love dessert. Not too sweet, which is always appreciated, but it was a comically small portion. The place is BYOB, which is cool - there is a liquor store a few doors down. We did have a reservation, but I felt like we were being rushed. Bathroom could be renovated better. I was really excited to try this place and honestly was let down.

Yelp
I guess they recently increased the price of the omakase to $100 before tip and tax. The food was mediocre at best. The AC was not working so it was really hot. I had been to Moko in the past and the food, price, and overall experience was much better. There are so many good and better omakase options nowadays so I think this was my last time eating at Moko. You can find better places for half the price. Looking at the menu from previous pictures, it looks like they changed their $65 10 piece option to $50 6 pieces.

Yelp
The eighteen-course omakase ($125) was full of imaginative flavors: * Miso Soup * Truffle Crispy Rice * Akami with tofu puree * Seared Golden Eye Snapper * Stripejack with avocado puree * Kampachi with spicy garlic oil * Ora King Salmon with tartar sauce and tomato ( like a lox bagel! ) * Fluke with plum sauce and ginger * Hamachi with yuzu black pepper sauce * Torched Squid with ikura * Hamachi with yuzu soy sauce * Sea Bream with shiso * Scallop with ossetra caviar * Seared Wagyu with Korean BBQ sauce * Hokkaido Uni * Seared Otoro * Tuna Handroll * Coconut Panna Cotta with blueberry yuzu sauce Love the clean interior and the amazing service from Chef Steven & the team.

Yelp
I wish I never deleted my 4-Star Yelp review so all of you could have seen it for reference. I literally gave Moko an amazing 4-Star review two weeks ago and their owner Max took it as negative feedback that harmed their business somehow... I won an IG giveaway for their sister restaurant Shiso and they revoked the giveaway prize from me because the owner, who used daddy's money to open these restaurants and doesn't know how to run a business at all, was upset that my review for Moko wasn't 5 stars. It's honestly HILARIOUS to me that they felt attacked by a 4 star review where I said wonderful things about the service, interior of the restaurant, and fresh nigiri. I exposed them on social media for taking my giveaway prize away from me, which I won fair and square. You can see the attached screenshot of an email they sent to the person who hosted the giveaway. The owner then DMs me on IG using scare tactics threatening to send me a lawsuit LOL. Go ahead?? Ever heard of the First Amendment? This is why I advise people stay in school and graduate. And be warned, he does this on Google as well. If you leave a low rated review on Google, he'll find your phone number and then text you, harassing you to explain the bad rating and asking you to take it down. Don't believe me? I have proof from fellow NYC foodies who messaged me about their horrible experiences with the owners here too. The owners here have no clue how to run a business and take feedback well from customers. Instead, they will attack you, just like they had their social media person do to me in the comments. They all need serious mental help!

Yelp
This was my first Omakase tasting so I didn't know what to expect. My girlfriend and I had the 18 course tasting. It comes with soup, two appetizers, 14 pieces of sushi, dessert and saki. Note that the restaurant is byob so if you want to bring some wine with you to enjoy you can, but they will charge you a $10 bottle fee. Now I'm not going to pretend to remember all the names of all the pieces I had so I will just tell you the ones that stood out. For appetizer, the scallops with cilantro was delicious, the main.....the shrimp and the salmon were delicious as well. I will say that ALL of the fish was very fresh and didn't linger on the palette. The only thing I really didn't care for was dessert which was panacotta - it just wasn't for me. If you looking for a reasonable priced omakase tasting, Moko is it!

Yelp
Tried omakase for the first time at Moko as part of date night. We got their cheapest option, as there were specific handrolls (like uni) that we thought would be fun to add-on. The ambience was clean, cozy and comfortable, and we had an overall good experience (though not brain-chemistry altering). Moko could be a great place to try omakase in the city without setting yourself back too far... It would have been fun to get bar seating to see the handrolls being made, if you can swing it when you make a reservation.

Yelp
Food (5/5): Really awesome Omakase spot! It came with approximately 12 rolls that started off average but then got really good at the end. My favorites were the toro with uni, scallop, and salmon. Super delicious! The champagne, miso, and dessert were also solid. Service (5/5): Super friendly and helpful service. The waiter was attentive and the chefs seemed very skillfull. They explained each cut and were nicely focused. Ambiance (4/5): A bit confusing at first because the sign said Shiso but it's actually Moko and they haven't got a chance to update. Besides that it's a solid space that seems like it serves good Omakase. It isn't super decorated but overall comfortable and cozy.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place, but I have to be honest... even at the discounted rate of $65 it just wasn't worth it. I will say shout out to the scallop for being a perfect bite of food... but overall it was super underwhelming. We felt totally rushed and couldn't believe we had finished in under 30 minutes and then waited a super long time for the check. It was weirdly paced and just not our cup of tea. Other diners seemed super into it and I never wanna yuck someone else's yum - but this is not a spot I'll be going back to. Other omakase places I've been to give much more of an experience. There were three of us and we were all so hungry we went and each ate a taco after. My friends both felt the fish was too salty, the rice wasn't a pleasing consistency, and the panna cotta had a fun consistency but lacked flavor.

Yelp
I ordered the 18 course omakase ($100, advertised as miso soup, 2 appetizers, 1 hand roll, 13 chef's choice nigiri, and dessert). My boyfriend got the 15 course omakase ($85, advertised as miso soup, crispy rice, and 12 pieces of chef's choice nigiri). Clearly stated on the menu...I'll get into that in a minute. To start, the miso soup was lukewarm and they forgot to bring us water. We were seated on the bottom floor basement which was fine but such a stark difference from the ambiance on the ground level. The music kept cutting out which was funny at that point because then we could hear the other tables talking about how they weren't getting their orders. On the music note, I would maybe recommend to management to download an offline playlist since there's no cell phone service in that area so maybe that'd help. OK, back to the menu, they brought us each a plate of nine pieces of nigiri. HOWEVER, we did have to let them know that they were cutting us short because they were really about to only give us 9 nigiri each. Maybe the chef's choice included a choosing a lower quantity? I was going to pull out the photos for proof, then they said they would speak to the chef. What is highly concerning to me is that they only have three omakase options...how do they miss that?? You're telling me the servers AND the chefs don't know what they're serving... Overall, I thought the sushi was good and the prices were fair IF you got what you ordered. Also, if you're going to check it out, I would note that they currently don't have an alcoholic drinks menu so they told us it was byob.

Yelp
Came to this omakase spot with 4 people at 7:00pm on Friday. It was not super busy and we got to sit in front of the chef. The atmosphere of this place is very cozy. My friends and I came to celebrate my boyfriend's bday. They allow byob which was cool. We got the three 15 course ($65) and one 18 course ($100) for omakase. I got the 15 course omakase and I enjoyed it. Throughout the dinner, the server was very tentative. He keep refilling our glass. At the beginning of the omakase the pieces I received were a bit boring and bland. They didn't really stand out to me. However, towards the end the chef served the best pieces. He saved the best for last. I love the salmon, scallop, and toro with uni. The salmon piece was super good! This was a great spot.

Yelp
Sat down around 8:15pm with only one other table was occupied. The restaurant did not feel like it had the AC on for a hot humid summer day. As soon as we got our menu, our server disappeared to the back and we waited for a very long time to see our server again to order. We opted for the $50 omakase special which included only 6 pieces of sushi and a miso soup. Quality of the fish is decent but not the freshest as they use toppings to cover up the quality of the fish. There are better omakase deals in the city and would not go back.

Yelp
Came for the 15 course omakase experience with my friends. First off this restaurant wins the vibe check! the interior is minimal and cute. We arrived about 10 minutes early to our reservation so immediately when we arrived and checked in we stood to the side waiting for our table. something weird: we waited like 5 minutes to the side still being in the way (restaurant was small) before the staff told us there was a waiting bench area in the back for us - kind of odd then when we were seated we were put at this table that was so in the center and hustle/bustle of the restaurant it was so so sooo distracting with staff passing us and people scooting my chair in every so often which is why i am giving 4 stars aside from that seriously the food is AMAZING! the fish was so juicy and everything was prepared so well. especially for the price i am shocked and impressed with everything. favorite is always the toro - was so juicy and buttery, always my favorite seafood def would recommend to anyone looking for a good omakase spot that's reasonably priced

Yelp
Moko is a good option for omakase under $100, but i've definitely had better for the same price. The restaurant itself is beautiful and I love how modern the place feels, but the sushi itself was just ok. I had reservations here for a Saturday night (they don't take walk-ins on weekends) and was seated at the sushi bar. You can also reserve the table instead which gives you the courses all at once on a plate, They offer a 13 course for $69 and an 18 course i believe for $100. We opted for the 13 course and were immediately given miso soup which tasted pretty good. Now, given that we were at the bar and the chefs were right in front of us, I was very surprised at how long it took to get the other courses. It took 15 minutes between the appetizer and the first round of sushi and each piece after took around 5-10 minutes. It's not a huge deal because we weren't in a rush but I got pretty hungry between each one. Also, the sushi chef didn't really tell us what each piece was, he just placed it on the plate so I had to take a picture of the menu to know what it was. The sushi was pretty underwhelming with the rice sometimes being too sticky or it being smaller than usual. I've been to several other affordable omakase spots and felt they were better. I don't necessarily think Moko is bad in any way, but I did just expect a little bit better. If you're in east village or want an omakase under $100 it's not a bad option, but I personally didn't love it.

Yelp
My cousin, sister, and I had a very interesting experience here to say the least. We made a reservation for 7:30pm, and our table wasn't ready when we arrived. They asked us to wait while they prepared it, and the table that they were preparing was very clearly a table for 2 people. They were trying to fit a chair in on a side that was not going to fit because it was literally right up against another customer who would have been sitting right behind us. So once they realized that was an issue, they hauled in another table to attach to the existing two person table, but with that setup we would have just been so oddly spaced and it was a fire hazard in the tight space. We ended up having to wait for another party to finish eating, around 30 extra minutes. They were apologetic and offered us free appetizers for the trouble, which was definitely appreciated. However, we also ran into issues with the actual service. We had one main server, but three people waited our table total -- two of them gave us the introductory spiel (so we heard it twice), another person came over when realizing we hadn't gotten miso soup yet, and our main server, who told us what each piece of sushi was, couldn't be heard over the volume of music in the restaurant. All of us went with the $65 set. The appetizer highlight was definitely the tuna crispy rice, but my sister and I thought that the rice was somewhat stale because it came cold. It felt like it had been sitting out for a good amount of time. But then we ate the free crispy tuna appetizer they gave us in addition to the one that came with our omakase set, and with that one the rice was warm which made it infinitely better! So there was an inconsistency that was annoying, but we're glad we got to try the dish when the rice was warm. The other appetizer highlight was the fluke crudo which was with a lime/sesame sauce. We didn't enjoy the scallop appetizer as much -- it was just heavier and the sauce wasn't as good. Sushi wise, we aren't experts enough to comment on the quality of the fish. I'll say that none of us usually eat raw fish, but we were able to eat all of these pieces. The first six ate much better than the second round of six. The fatty tuna literally took us out. We don't eat a lot of fat, so it didn't sit right with us and then it made the rest of them more of a struggle to eat. I think we were just waiting for a piece to wow us, but all of them just seemed like regular pieces of sushi. I wouldn't say what we got was worth $65, especially taking into account the service. The only reason this was worth it to us was because they gave us free appetizers for the trouble. This is absolutely an experience to have, but we won't be hurrying back to try anything here.

Yelp
We made a reservation for 6PM, two days before. We ordered the 12 course omakase, complete with dessert, an appetizer, and nigiri. This omakase was honestly delicious and so worth the price. It was very filling, which surprised me. My favorite was the crispy rice appetizer and salmon. I preferred the second tray of nigiri over the first. I love sushi and this was a way for me to have an elevated experience. If you're also a sushi lover like me, I would ignore the negative reviews and give this place a try.

Yelp
About a 1-1.5: MOKO offers a 15-course omakase, which includes a miso soup, 13 pieces of nigiri, and a dessert (homemade strawberry ice cream), alongside complimentary tea. Ours had: +fluke +tuna +salmon +scallop +boton ebi +madai +kampbachi +otoro +eel +chutoro +shima aji +ika +trout +and, salmon roe Overall, the omakase was a bit lackluster, especially the nigiri - the fish could have been more fresh and the rice better prepared. The latter seemed to be either undercooked or dried out rice, and it really put a damper on the tasting. The interior is nice and sophisticated-like, with cool designs on the ceiling. Service was friendly. +sushi could have been more fresh

Yelp
The server points at each sushi with her finger so close to each piece it was unnerving BUT she was very sweet and fumbled through naming the items a bit. It was funny. The place is kind of loud and the food could have been better. The 2nd round of courses (all came together on a plate) tasted the same. Couldn't tell the fish apart and WAY too much wasabi...that was awful, my sinuses were singed and I was ready to go home. The dessert is a scoop of watery sherbet ice cream, I took one bite and said let's skedaddle! It's byob which is fine. Not much else to say. Oh well!

Yelp
I had SUCH a great experience here. I came here solo and had a stunning meal. I was the first customer of the evening, and the hosts were so warm, friendly, and kind. Having arrived right at opening, the kitchen staff, hosts, and chefs were going through their opening duties, and watching them interact with each other was so amazing to witness. It really felt like a family atmosphere, which is something I don't run into often. I opted for the 15-course omakase, which comes with the crispy rice appetizer, miso soup, and dessert! This is the smallest course, at $65 (an absolute STEAL in NYC). I ended up having two appetizers, the salmon calamansi along with the crispy rice. The salmon dish was really great to start with. The salmon was so fresh and buttery, and the mango salad's tart and spicy flavors balanced out the dish. I absolutely loved the crispy rice! Two huge buttery balls of fish, one tuna and one salmon, atop crispy cubes of rice. The outer edges are the texture of the rice that has cooled to the sides of the rice cooker--my favorite. The omakase courses were so delicious. The chef was so friendly, and he explained each piece as he set it in front of me. My favorite piece was probably the uni. Lastly, the mango coconut dessert was sooooo yummy. I feel like a lot of mango/coconut concoctions are always so unbalanced, like too much mango or too much coconut, but this dessert was perfect. Knocked it out of the park. The one thing I wish I could change about this experience is that the chef's counter wasn't visible to the diners. One of the things I love most about omakase is watching the chefs do their knife work and assemble the pieces. I just wished I could've seen it here!

Yelp
Had reservations for this place on a Saturday at 9 pm. Once we arrived we let the host know about our reservation but all the tables were full so we had to wait a few minutes until the next table opened up. The place itself is cute but it's a small space so you can't seat too many people at once. We decided to get the 15 piece omakase dinner menu which included a miso soup, an appetizer, 12 pieces of the chefs choice nigiri and a coconut and mango ice cream. The portions were a good size and we were definitely full after the meal. Full but not stuffed. It's definitely one of the more reasonable omakase spots in the city. Overall, had a great experience. Staff were super attentive and friendly and would definitely come back here again!

Yelp
Friends came to town and we both had this on our list to check out. We made a reservation at 5:30 and another group had theirs at 6 and we all still got served at the same time at the bar top. There was a lot of wait staff and only 2 sushi chefs. The place is small but cute and simple ambiance; it's well lit and bright. We should have looked at the website better but also it's not updated. They don't serve alcohol or have tea. They have water and sodas. You can BYOB but there is an opening fee. They also didn't even ask about allergies. We did a 15 course omakase. The quality of the fishes overall was good. I appreciated some of the toppings and their were some that I wouldn't prefer. The chili flakes on top of one of the pieces was delicious. There were a few pieces with yuzu salt which was overpowering and very salty. The sushi chef was very busy making 3 different orders so it was hard to hear what each piece was.

Yelp
I made a reservation via Yelp for their omakase and received numerous reservation confirmations via email and text message (screenshots attached). I showed up about 20 minutes early for my reservation and was greeted with stone-cold confusion from the staff.  From the minute I walked through the door, everyone working at Moko turned to look at me in a super unfriendly and unwelcoming way. No one came to the front of the restaurant to greet me, so I had to walk up to the sushi bar to talk to the staff. When I stated I had a reservation, they proceeded to challenge me repeatedly, said they already did their last seating, insisted it wasn't possible that I had a reservation, and started whispering to each other right in front of me.  I then pulled up both my email and text confirmations to show them, and they again looked beyond confused and kept scrolling on their iPad. This whole encounter happened directly at the sushi bar because, again, no one came to the entrance of the restaurant to greet me, so I was standing right next to customers who were in the process of enjoying their meal, which I can imagine wasn't pleasant for them either. Finally, after a ton of back and forth, questioning, and dirty looks/whispers from the staff, they finally waved their hand at me and said they'd seat me. At that point, I decided to just leave -- I'm not interested in being rushed through my omakase meal while they're trying to close after experiencing this type of service and while spending a decent amount of money. I'll take my money to any of the many other omakase restaurants in NYC.

Yelp
We tried to get into a few places for sushi on cold Saturday night, Odo, Sugarfish (3 hour wait, no reservations accepted, yikes!) and Momoya, all strikes. Luckless, we tried OpenTable and found reservations available every 15 minutes from 7:15 to closing for this place, yay! Parking after 7 in the east village wasn't too bad and when we arrived, the restaurant was only about 20% full at 8pm on a Saturday night, hmmm. Our server, Melissa from Huntington Beach, CA was really good and explained their Omakase offerings. $95 for 15 $120 for 18 We chose the $120 for 18 1 extra small miso soup 3 bite-size appetizers 13 pcs of nigiri 1 tiny, not-so-flavorful coconut panna cotta No alcohol license here(?), so BYOB for $10 corkage fee (not mentioned by server, tho'). Miso soup (salty) and 3 appetizers were acceptable. 13 pcs of nigiri sushi were also acceptable, but rice was a little too cool and too dry. No uni, no geoduck, or other extra-standout premium items, but there was scallop, ebi and other requisite (tuna, salmon, kampachi, hamachi, etc) ingredients. Dessert coconut panna cotta wasn't memorable, not rich, not creamy. This place isn't bad by any means, but definitely didn't feel like the prices were justified. $120 X 2, plus $10 corkage (we bought 2 beers from the corner bodega), plus tax and gratuity = about $330 I don't usually bring up value, but even in NYC, 26pcs of nigiri, a few apps and no alcohol (we bought our own 2 BYOB beers) shouldn't ring up at $330. Nice folks here, but priced unrealistically for the offerings and venue.

Yelp
"The Panera of Sushi" Panera isn't a bad place to eat. It's not a great place to eat either. And it's kinda of convenient. A monsoon of inexpensive Omakase has arrived arrived in the East Village. - Steam table pan ....to ice bucket. Maybe not. Maybe spend like $15 and buy real ice buckets at webrestaurantstore.com - Pre-cut pieces of sushi. The "chefs" are more like assembly line workers. - Decent tasting fish. Nothing special. Certainly does not meet traditional Japanese omakase sensibilities of Overall it's just ok, but so many other places in the city that are better for Omakase.

Yelp
Moko is a great affordable and casual option for Omakase in the East Village. Consistently delicious and has a very friendly staff. The restaurant is BYO with a $20 fee should you decide to bring in anything. Would recommend!

Yelp
Horrible experience. I feel like they are paying for fake reviews and fake photos. First, they sat us in a corner facing a wall, rather than in the sushi omakase section. There was a birthday party happening at the same time as our reservation that they didn't inform us about, and there were so many people, it was extremely loud. At some point, the birthday crew started placing their empty drink glasses on our small table and taking photos right above us. The restroom was disgusting, with urine and paper towels everywhere--it felt more like a trashy dive bar than an omakase restaurant. All the sushi arrived at once, dry and warm, and definitely not fresh. Maybe they were preparing for the large group and made many pieces in advance, but I'm not sure. Our server didn't even know what the fish were. When we asked, she sort of made up answers, even though we're much more experienced with sushi and recognized some of the pieces--her information was wrong. Only when the head chef came out did they finally identify the pieces for us, and by that time, we were almost done eating. A random sushi place would have served better sushi. For over $100 per person, this was outrageous.

Yelp
YES YES YES. We sat at the bar right at 5 (reservations highly recommended)! The chef was artistic and kind. He knew what he was doing and served as up some beautiful pairings of fish and flavors. I wanted to do the whole experience over and over. The fish was fresh and delicious! HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Yelp
Definitely make a reservation, as the space is small. They have a downstairs which has more AC and is just more sleek than the upstairs. But if you're into the casual vibe, request a table up there. We got the 15 course omakase for $65. The miso soup was hands down the best I've ever had and the crispy rice appetizer was yummy! Now, the rest of the omakase was good, but not anything out of this world. The fish was Fresh but pretty regular. I think, comparing it to other Omakase as we've had in New York, this was the most basic one. And the service was OK. Nothing spectacular. So all in all I will give this a seven out of 10. If you just want a casual weeknight dinner for an affordable price, then yes, come here. But if you want something memorable, try any of the other omakase spots around.

Yelp
For the price point, this was a very solid omakase. Important note, the don't have cocktails. They allow you to bring your own bottles and don't charge an uncorking fee. This is great. For a Thursday night, it wasn't very busy, but it did take quite a while for the food to come out. Great setting for a date.

Yelp
Nice chefs and host! Their $50 11 course weekday special is great, everything tastes fresh. Jerry is the best!

Yelp
It was my first time trying Omakase, and I can state how memorable of an experience it was. The fish was so fresh I could taste the seawater on every piece, felt like I had tears in my eyes on how beautiful it was. The waitress was great, she presented us with every serving and how it was made, and she was very caring. Having Omakase again is definitely on my list.

Yelp
I came here to celebrate a friend's birthday as a party of 8 and we all got the 15 course omakase for $95. It includes miso soup, seasonal appetizer, chef's choice of 12 pieces of nigiri and seasonal dessert. The restaurant is also BYOB and we brought a few sake bottles to celebrate! For the omakase, some highlights for me were the hotate, salmon, uni and A5 wagyu. A few of the pieces had delicious toppings that complemented the fish well like truffle, horse radish, special tofu sauce, and more. The uni was one of the freshest uni I ever had - absolutely no fishy taste at all!! I found all the pieces of fish to be fresh and good quality for your money's worth. The chef was kind enough to give us some additional pieces and the service overall was superb! They explained each piece and asked how we were enjoying our meal throughout the night. I also appreciated that they gave me an alternative dessert as I was allergic to an ingredient in their panna cotta. Moreover, the ambiance is intimate as it is a small space so it would be great for a date. I would definitely recommend this spot to others for a special occasion.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that my one star is for food and the establishment as a whole. I feel like I fell for a scam. The restaurant looks cute and modern. Pictures from Yelp make the food look decent. I'm not expecting Michelin star food and service, but I think there is a lot to be said if the instant miso soup was the best part of the meal. The service was minimal. They gave us menu and water. Took our order. Delivered our food with long gaps between courses, but were quick to bring the bill. The food: - miso soup (best part of the meal) - appetizer (supposed to be crispy rice with tuna on top and too much sauce that I couldn't tell what fish I was eating. The rice was probably crispy at some point. But it was not when it got to me.) - nigiri (majority of the fishes were mushy. Only the squid had a different texture. Pieces were small and rice was bland. I didn't even do a happy dance when I ate the otoro piece with truffle on top) - dessert (soup ice cream) My biggest issue with this place...the bathroom. What. The. Heck. It's as if the bathroom was an after thought when they were building this place. Think airplane bathroom size and cleanliness. And only one bathroom for the whole restaurant. I wish I had my phone on me when I went so that I could share pictures. Even if the food and service was better...I would still knock them for this because it's that bad.

Yelp
Cute and affordable omakase spot! I enjoyed the food and thought the 15 course was pretty filling and good value at $65! We did experience some reservation mishaps as other reviewers mentioned. The group before us overstayed their reservation causing ours to pushed back a half hour. The staff did comp us a free appetizer though, for which I really appreciated! The restaurant is pretty loud and bustling at dinner time. Definitely make a reservation! Bar seating is fun so you can watch the chefs prepare your meal and the pieces come out one at a time. They are BYOB and we brought some sake to pair with our meal. I would recommend if you're looking for an affordable omakase! It's not the fanciest in terms of flavors and presentation. However, the pieces were fresh and it's a filling menu.

Yelp
We were expecting a lot when coming in. So much so that we decided to get the $100 omakase instead of $85. We were seated as soon as we walked in, thanks to having a reservation. But soon asked if we could switch from the bar to a table which they had no problems with. They were very friendly, attentive and would answer our questions. This was my first time coming here and maybe they were having an off day, but I think being consistent with food is important. If a friend were to ask to go to this place, I'll give it another try but wouldn't come here by myself. And honestly, I could pick only a couple of things throughout the meal that really stood out. The tuna with crunchy rice appetizer and the Toro nigiri. The rest were ok, while others looked dry. And by dry, I mean it was not brushed with the sauce that I would normally get served with omakase nigiri. I just wish the quality was there. A lot of the fish tasted bland and similar to the others. Even after I was told what each of them were, I couldn't differentiate between them. At other omakase places, you can instantly tell they have different flavor profiles between each nigiri and you will want to savor this single bite. Another thing I noticed over the course of the meal was the amount of wasabi between the fish and rice would sometimes be overwhelming. It also didn't help that I kept looking at another omakase place on my phone that I recently visited. Not a good sign. In the end I was full but left wanting more than what I got

Yelp
Meh - aside for being one of the more affordable spots for omakase, I don't really see the hype behind this place. I found out about this place via IG and TikTok and definitely bought into the hype because people were raving about it so I had high expectations. Unfortunately, I don't think it lives up to its reputation online. If you're looking for affordable omakase (or just want to experience omakase for the first time), I definitely think there are other better places in the city. First, this place gets LOUD. I'm used to more intimate settings for omakase, so I was a little taken back by how crowded and loud the place was. Also, if you sit at the sushi bar, the table tops are pretty high so its a little uncomfortable to sit there. I also didn't really have a good view of the sushi chef (due to the table height difference) so I feel like that took away from the experience. Second, the sushi was okay. There was nothing really outstanding to it and the rice to fish ratio is pretty off. I don't think the fish was as fresh as other people are claiming. Based off the other reviews, it seems like they rotate their desserts. We got the coconut flavored ice cream - I didn't really care for it because the texture was more like a icey shebert. Service was also a miss - we had 3 different servers throughout the night and they kept forgetting to refill our water even though we were sitting at the sushi bar. Overall, I'm disappointed because I had such high expectations for this place, but I feel like it missed the mark.

Yelp
Moko was a nice restaurant and ambiance looked great. As we got closer to around 7, the place filled up quickly. We had the option to sit at the bar, but we decided to sit at the table since we haven't seen each other in a while and wanted to catch up. We ordered the 16 course omakase, which was good but mediocre sushi. We started with miso soup and appetizer (tuna over crispy rice). The crispy rice was very hard and cold. It felt like the plate was not made fresh and was sitting there for some time. The waitress seemed new and forgot our drinks / didn't know that green tea was available. The bus boy also just took away my dishes without asking which I thought was extremely rude. Luckily I was finished or close to being finished, but I would appreciate the ask before snatching the dish away from in front of me. All in all it was a pleasant experience but will probably won't be back.

Yelp
We had unforgettable culinary journey in the heart of East Village! Chef Steven's expertise, previously worked at Michelin-starred establishments, shone through in every meticulously crafted dish. The freshness of the fish flown in from Japan was unparalleled, and Chef Steven's creativity elevated each bite to new heights. This spot has 2 omakase options. The first one is a 15 course for $95 and the second one is 18 course for $125. We chose the 18-course omakase experience and it was worth every penny! It comes with miso soup, an appetizer , 14 nigiri , 1 hand roll and a divine homemade dessert. Every course was a delight for the senses. Can't wait to return for another extraordinary dining adventure!

Yelp
Service was professional but had long gaps in between some segments at the beginning. The miso soup was the best part, followed by the crispy rice with tuna and salmon. While the appetizers and dessert were excellent, the omakase was good. Only half of the candles on the bar were lit. Definitely a lot of young 20-something's here, but we enjoyed our time. Just don't be in a rush, as the full 15-course omakase experience took an hour and fifteen minutes.

Yelp
Came here for dinner around 5. Was relatively empty. Inside is small but interior is modern and clean. Their bathroom was tiny. We had the cheapest omakase which I think was around $60-70. It comes with and appetizer and miso soup. Our appetizer was tuna and salmon sticky rice which was delicious and miso soup was good as well. Then we got the omakase course. 6 pieces at a time. All tasted fresh however my favorite was the salmon and the toro. The meal ends with a sorbet with some rice puffs. I left the meal feeling full but not stuffed. Service was good. The waitress described each piece and my water cup never went empty. This place is BYOB if you want drinks.

Yelp
Definitely make reservations if you can, there was a line out the door with people waiting for a table with no reservation. So happy I did! First of all this place is BYOB, so make sure to bring a beverage if you want to drink while you eat. They do charge you $10 to open a wine bottle at the restaurant, which I thought was ridiculous bc I wouldn't have brought my own bottle if they provided alcohol. We opted for the $65, 15 course omakase deal which was very fulfilling, but they do have $75 and $100 omakase options as well. The omakase itself was all right, I've had better sushi in the city but it was much more expensive. Not sure if I'll be back.

Yelp
Very good place. Fresh and very tasteful omakase. Great attentive service. The only complain - it is a BYOB restaurant. In this case charging $10 "corking charge" is wrong. We paid $660 for 4 of us so $10 didn't make a difference. But still... Otherwise - recommend it!

Yelp
I came here with 2 of my friends for the cheapest omakase on a Saturday night. We made a reservation 1-2 weeks in advance just in case. I didn't have the best experience - we dined here for 2.5 hours because we got served the same platter twice due to confusion with our neighboring table, and the service was extremely slow. We got a really good discount because of this which I appreciate, but I won't be coming back (interior aesthetic was really cute though!) Overall, the nigiri was okay. For the things that we got twice, the experience / taste was different, and I didn't like that it was inconsistent. FYI - this place is BYOB.

Yelp
Booo this place is not great. The fish quality was kinda all over the place. Some were good and some were a bit mushy, and the temperature of the nigiri was inconsistent. At $65 it's a fine price for an introductory omakase but there are better ones around the city that give a similar price and have better quality sushi. Wouldn't recommend it for people sorry. Service was good though.

Yelp
MOKO looks to be a high end sushi restaurant that offers high quality fish for each bite... and they seem to deliver that vibe! We did a 15 course omakase meal and we were stuffed afterwards! Each nigiri piece is on the smaller side, but hey, we were full so can't be that upset! The place was packed and luckily we had reservations and we definitely recommend making them! @phidingthefam

Yelp
Opted for the 13 course omakase and holy molyyyy it blew my mind!! The flavors were so unique & insanely delicious. I'd totally recommend this place. It's BYOB with a corkage fee. They do reservations on both Resy & Open Table so look on both for bar seating?? Didn't realize this until after but sitting at a table didn't break the experience at all.

Yelp
I came to this restaurant optimistic for decent omakase at an affordable price. They advertise 15 courses for only $75 and is currently rated an average of 4 stars on Yelp (12/19/2021 is the date I originally wrote this review). So I thought it would definitely be worth a try. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in my experience here both in terms of food and service. My friends and I were seated at a table instead of at the sushi bar. With table service, the nigiri is served as three courses instead of coming out one at a time. I usually do not have a problem with this but it was evident to all of us that the nigiri was not fresh --- it tasted like everything was plated a while ago and left sitting out before being served to us. The temperature of the rice was off and the seaweed was not crisp. Even my favorite pieces disappointed: the otoro (fatty tuna) somehow lacked flavor/ texture and the uni had a strange off-putting aftertaste that I never had a problem with at other omakase places I've been to in the city. The miso soup was fine and, disappointingly, the best part of the meal was probably the dessert of frozen strawberry banana ice cream. Service also needed a lot of work. Our server presented the nigiri to us way too quickly and without telling us where the fish was sourced from, even the uni! We were also being rushed. We were constantly being served the next course of nigiri even though we were not finished eating the prior pieces. If they were super busy I would be more understanding but the restaurant was essentially empty while we were there. In conclusion, the food and service were both lacking. Don't be lured in by the $75 promotion they are doing right now. Even at $75, it wasn't worth it. Instead, I would advise checking out some of the other great omakase places in the city that can be found for under $200: Tanoshi for the ~$100 range, Sushi Ishikawa for a delicious modern/fusion take, or Sushi Nakazawa for a more traditional experience.
