Mokoloco - Review - 11th Arr. - Paris - The Infatuation

"When it opened in 2019, Mokoloco was a low-key sandwich spot from the owners of the popular Mokonuts around the block. It’s since morphed into a neighborhood joint for rotating chefs to pop up and serve their own cuisine for a few months. Recent chefs have cooked up Palestinian classics like kubbeh grilled on charcoal, North African and Judeo-Arabic dishes like calf’s liver boulfaf and chickpea ragout, Italian twists on classics like veal brain ravioli with briney bottarga, and crispy Korean fried chicken. Check their Instagram to find out who’s in residence next and whether the particular chef will be serving lunch and/or dinner. The neighborhood-like atmosphere is lively and loud thanks to the open kitchen, and since the space isn’t huge, book ahead if you can." - Sara Lieberman

Very good. We were sat at the counter and watching the chefs cook in front of you brings something special to the table. The savoury dishes were great. The highlights were the spicy fish main with a nice kick and a delicious broth that paired beautifully with the tofu, as well as the skate wing appetizer with a very interesting combination of textures and flavours. Only negative was the dessert called “dark chocolate”. We were surprised when we discovered it was just a slightly melted piece of chocolate, with some spices sprinkled on top and some olive oil poured on the side. A bit underwhelming. Overall a nice experience with a bold Korean twist: the appetizers and main are definitely worth it, just pass on the dessert.

Solid 4.5. All my dishes were very tasty and well portioned. I especially loved the first starter on the menu. My only complaints are that one server to act as host and waiter was not ideal (I see this is the trend now in Paris but it makes it frustrating as you have to wait quite a while to order) and overall was a bit pricey in my opinion (eg 8€ for a glass of wine).

Small venue with great service. The menu was limited but interesting with a mix of Middle Eastern cuisine. The meat with an egg and the leaves salad were very tasty. Great homemade bread basket. Nice wine by the glass. Prices were very good for the portions. Overall, an interesting restaurant in Paris.

1. The dining environment smells of fumes and smoke. 2. It is inconvenient to use the dining table and chairs and there is no place to lean on. 3. We ordered a 6-course set menu, and the dishes that came up made me feel that it was not worth the price of 70+ euros. 4. The taste is ordinary, the plating is ordinary, and even the plate I used was broken and chipped. 5. asked three more times very hungry can give pre-dinner bread were refused, do not understand what is doing (as well as the food didn't taste good even when we were very hungry) 6. The service is very slow, there are a lot of customers but there is only one person in front of the service.

Very nice, small place with very nice service and great food. They have a small menu (3 entrees, 2 mains, 2 deserts) but all the food looks and tastes great. Their selection of house wines is okay (we liked the red better than the white which was a bit flat) but they have a very decent wine menu. The only minus we experienced is that the food was served very rapidly (we were the first ones in). All in all great value for money and worth a visit when in Paris.

Definitely recommended, very limited menu but everything is well made and has imagination, very nice natural wines, and pleasant welcoming staff. Worth getting a reservation due to the limited number of tables.

One of the most memorable dinner! It was korean fusion but done in very clever ways. Not just adding gochujang or kimchi on the side on random things. Paris gimbap was fantastic. Crunchy with full of umami flavor. Every dish was packed with amazing flavors. I’m so glad my friend took me here. Friendly service with great playlist:)

We tried to have lunch at Mokonuts but it was booked. We were sent here instead. We thought they were one and the same. At this location, it seems there is an ever-changing resident chef? This month it is Johann Barichasse. I wish some of the dishes didn’t have such weird ingredients, calf brain? At least we got to eat here twice. It was one of the best meals we’ve had during our trip. We especially loved his pkaila.
