"I went for one of everything when I placed my order with this monthly omusubi pop-up that operates out of Psychic Wines in Silver Lake. What stared back at me when I cracked open the bag was a color-coded cluster of saran-wrapped omusubi, plus enough nori sheets to go around. While the beef sukiyaki, salmon, and mushroom options were ideal snacks that could double as decor (if only they weren’t perishable), it’s the tamari-cured egg yolk rice ball that I’ll be ordering in multiples next time. When you bite into this one in particular, it’s hard not to have a corny eureka moment - the yolk glows eternally golden, and the gooey, salty tang is nothing short of a miracle. You can keep up with Moyosubi on Instagram to preorder the next monthly drop, and know that Moyosubi founder/omusubi maker Maya Kambe donates 20% of her profits to Soul Fire Farm. -AS" - the infatuation los angeles crew

Google
Eye-catching store! I saw it by passing by and stopped my Husband from walking so we could go inside. I love how colorful and unique everything is! It is super pricey so I didn’t buy anything (a sweater was $66 or i would have bought it). But it is definitely a fun store to walk around and browse!! And maybe even take pictures in :0)

Google
Really cute store with very colourful clothes. The store clerk said the bags have a lifetime guaranty. They also have a large variety of sizes available.

Google
This store is so L.A. that I almost ordered tacos. Everything is made in L.A. The staff were talkative and kind. The colors and designs were bold and piercing. They even have a lifetime guarantee. We’ll be back when our kids need school backpacks for sure.

Google
Fantastic store for anyone who’s obsessed with colors. Great color combinations in apparel and bags. Conveniently located in the heart of Little Tokyo. The staff is fun and welcoming. Great place for gifts!

The neon, polyester, and 80’s aesthetic is amazing if you can pull it off. Love the neon signage throughout the store and in the window. They say the bags are made in LA and have a lifetime warranty (not sure if this is true for everything in the store)

Step into the store as a tourist. Colorful merchandise. Looks neat and efficient. Price tag made me stepped back.

This store is a totally awesome vibe! The detail and care that goes into everything is extremely evident. The founder, Julie, and her team have created amazingly fun products that really are out of this world. You need to check this place out!!

Kat Shalygin

Google
Great aesthetic and customer service. That was about all I can say positively of the place. Most notably was the egregious prices on the merchandise. I wanted to buy a cotton dress—I had to tell her my size to get one—and when I went to checkout, it was 150 DOLLARS WITH 20 DOLLAR TAX! For that price, it should be made of gold. Very interesting that prices were conveniently hidden until checkout! Total waste of time and a scam as far as I’m concerned. The dress had the quality of something I could buy from target, but the price of something I’d buy at Bloomingdales. Outrageous.

Yelp
Quite unique experience with all kinds of colorful hand made products! Because of the price is a bit costly yet it may worth it! Fun looking around here! The staffs are dressed very colorfully and friendly as well! :)

Yelp
???!!!?!!!!!?!!?!!?!!?!! ... are my comments about this store. Yeah it's cool and colorful with photo-op worthy decorations .. BUT $120-ish dollars for a poor quality vinyl shopping bag!?!? I know US has been suffering from crazy inflation but this is ridiculous. Liked the colors Liked the store decor Liked that items are designed and made in US Liked the browse around Liked the friendly staff However, I find that the clothing and bags are made with average-quality materials, have poor craftsmanship (think poor stitching and visible long orts), yet marked at super high prices... no thank you!

Yelp
This shop was pretty cool and reminded me of something from my childhood or better yet Stranger Things. Everything was neon colored and 80's inspired like straight outta a Teen Bop magazine. They had items from t-shirts, jackets, pants, jeans, and lots of accessories. I want to go back to buy one of their fanny packs. They have a basket with all these vintage patches. That definitely got me. I bought a couple of them: one that says Cat and an E.T. one. It is in a central location at one of the corners of Little Tokyo so I definitely recommend stopping and saying hello or to buy some pretty cool items.

Yelp
Thank you sooo much, AMANDA, for your support of our Little Tokyo SPARKLE clean up this past Sat. 4 happy winners with your GIFTCARDS! So wonderful to see MOKUYOBI IN LT, instead of a vacant office space all this time!! GOOD LUCK to JULIE & ALEX! Hello to All!

Rebekah L.

Yelp
I had first heard about/seen Mokuyobi when Nordstrom had briefly carried their items, specifically their little dragonfruit, watermelon, and citrus fanny packs (fellow Yelper Winnie L. has a great photo of what I'm referencing). So it was quite a nice surprise to see a storefront for Mokuyobi at the end (or entrance, depending on which way you're entering) of Little Tokyo. Since Teej had never heard of the brand before (and we're both a fan of tiny little bags), we decided to stop by to take a look. Mokuyobi's interior is not only perfect for those who like to take photos for their social media but it's also really reflective of the brand itself, which is nostalgically retro (think Saved by the Bell) and full of fun, colorful prints and designs. The only slight downside is that their items are pretty pricey which I believe is due to the fact that they are locally made in L.A., but if you are willing and/or able to purchase, Mokuyobi definitely has some stand out pieces that will be sure to wow. Overall, I would recommend stopping by and visiting Mokuyobi. Even though Teej and I didn't purchase anything and just browsed, the employees did not get upset or tried to hassle us into purchasing items. The store is is neatly organized and definitely a must for those who love to live their life in color.

Alice H.

Yelp
Agree with previous Yelpers. Cool shop with colorful items that make me think of the 80-90s show Saved By the Bell. I saw a few items that looked cool but were very expensive. Walked out empty handed but wallet full.

Yoshiko T.

Yelp
I'm so impressed by this shop! Everything is really high quality, like the shirts are 100% cotton and actually nice thick material. The vinyl bags look really durable too and their jeans too of course which have great designs.

Will W.

Yelp
Whimsical store in Japanese village plaza. It's next to chinchikurin. Go up the stairs to see a very colorful store filled with clothing that has a wild palette. I guess their motto is to have fun with your wardrobe? It's for all ages. They also carry colorful accessories.

Sky U.

Yelp
Attractive aesthetic that looks very much like the 80s-90s soft color palette look. Very photogenic and would be right at home as someone Instagram photo shoot location. Prices are crazy though. Luxury brand price for fairly average quality materials and products. It's like buying Champion brand shirts for Armani brand prices. $72 for a sunglass case. $225 for a small backpack? Long sleeves for around $60-80. Sun hat for $70? The entire product line is prohibitively expensive. I get they're locally made in LA, but the prices and relative lack of quality of the products speak for themselves.

M O.

Yelp
The patches got me. Lovely styles, colors, and art. I feel like I'm in an 80s version of Adventure Time. Good quality stuff and specific unique genre, keep up the good work!

Michael G.

Yelp
This place will take back to another time! The staff here are all amazing, especially Serena. She was very knowledgeable and helpful during our visit. Will def be coming back for one of the bags they have.

Eileen D.

Yelp
Thought I would have enjoyed this store with its bright clothing designs but was met with cold customer service. Decided to look them up online later and learned about the history of the store not being Japanese owned despite its name and while being situated inside a historic Japanese-American shopping center. Knowing that now, it just added to my sour experience. I'll seek out fun clothing elsewhere like at POPKILLER just on the other side of the center.

krista s.

Yelp
I love the vibe of this store. It's really really colorful!! Their bags are great! I use my mini bag all the time. Will be visiting again next time I'm in LA to pick up another bag for myself and possibly one for my son since he's obsessed with the idea of getting a patch sewn on a bag after watching the blippi episode featuring Mokuyobi.

Cat L.

Yelp
Great customer service and very welcoming store. Such an eclectic color and pattern scheme. The patches were a decent price, the other items are a bit on the high end price but the items seem like great quality. It's like shopping in a different world. So unique

Adriana L.

Yelp
I love Mokuyobi! I try to come to the store when I can, it's so dreamy! The staff is friendly and helpful. Today Serena help me pick a very special gift. Thank you so much! Definitely recommend coming here

CL T.

Yelp
I did not buy anything. This place was reminiscent of the late 80s and early 90s in terms of bright colors. It's accessible with an elevator for those who are not good with stairs. This is definitely a place for Enid not Wednesday.

Elena K.

Yelp
This place looks like stepping into the 80s and the merchandise is pretty cool. We went to day to go school shopping and we walked out pretty fast. The girl that worked there was doing something at the counter, never looked up, didn't greet us, didn't ask if we needed help, didn't say bye when we left. We were the only customers in the store at the time as well. Bad customer service is an immediate turn off, we'll take our business elsewhere.

Meredith N.

Yelp
The salespeople were incredibly warm and helpful when the handles of tote I liked felt just a little too small for me. They went above and beyond in getting the manufacturer to make me one with longer straps. Plus the store has plus sizes up to 4X -- so amazing!

Barn F.

Yelp
This place is terrible. First of all, the attitude of the people who work there was just really off putting. You have all this cheerful color palettes all around, but strangely grumpy workers who are so incredibly pushy, and agro. I'm pretty sure I said "I'm just browsing" at least 3 times and the girl gave me the eyeroll walk away thing. Ummmm .. .OKayyyyy .... I truthfully wanted to give this place a shot as I wasn't sure the negative press about the owner being a dismissive culture vulture was fair, and that's not my fight. That said, this is about straight up really terrible customer service. And while I don't care for the fashion taste level, who am I to say? It's not my scene. Anyways, I'm not going to waste my time going here again. I like nice businesses with nice people. Hard pass ... move along.

Bryan W.

Yelp
Amazing and a magical store of aesthetic. Serena helped us with all the sizes and it was a great experience. sizes went all the way up to 3XL for the products i tried on.

Michelle L.

Yelp
Serena was a great help & made sure the items were in tip top shape to be gifted Would totally come back here, a very cool store!

Cahyarini H.

Yelp
This is such a cute place that's hidden in Little Tokyo! They have such retro, vintage and fun designs, you won't be disappointed!

Saul T.

Yelp
Serena was amazing she was such a great help in choosing all the awesome items we bought super kind and friendly definitely going to become a regular here

Krystal W.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of mokuyobi and I come to the store often! I'm always greeted with a smile and a welcome back from the staff! Usually After being greeted I am left alone to browse with a follow up of "let me know if you have any questions" from the staff, which is very comforting to me as I love to ask questions. However this recent visit I was greeted by a new face, An elder man with a beard, he gave me the usual welcome in I come to expect but as soon as I touch something he pestered me with a bunch of details about the products. It's helpful sometimes but when everything I touch becomes a lecture about a product I don't feel comfortable. It left a sour taste in my mouth. Love the brand to death though

Mina M.

Yelp
finally had a chance to visit this store. the products are locally made but look and feel like they're from shein or alibaba, definitely doesn't feel like they're made to last. nobody greeted me when i came in, when i tried to ask a question, the sales associate could not answer and told me i should email a generic email on their website. thanks to some well informed friends, i now know this company is not in fact Japanese owned, as it's name might infer. "Mokuyobi" is an incorrectly spelled version of the Japanese word for "thursday". when asked why they spelled the word wrong (it should be mokuyoubi), the owner stated that she intentionally spelled it mokuyobi so that it was more palatable for english speakers. it's 2021! i think we all know it's not cool to use words from another culture's language as your business name. haven't we learned from chinatown market? mokuyobi is a hard pass for me. there are much better, affordable and higher quality products from companies that are authentic and ethical, without appropriating another culture.

Yelp
4th gen Angelino, here. Was walking around little Tokyo after dinner and saw this new place popped up in the Little T shopping center and thought, "what... is that..." Walked in and immediately passed away from the shock and outright assault of this confusing "brand". How did they rack up the rent to afford this place? Who's buying these repressed-inner-child costumes? It's not great. I wish I had this much money to open a store wherever I want and slap a Japanese word on a label to trick people into buying something moronic. If this is what people are into: I want out. Waste of resources, time, and space. Sending my condolences to Little Tokyo.

M L.

Yelp
The shop is just so Much fun... The colors and designs are Very well Done - that one can't help but be inspired by the owners artistic and creative vision Their Flagship store is a Awesome place to visit ... it's the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow !

Christie N.

Yelp
I saw this shop & it's cute neon lights from the street and knew immediately I had to visit. It's small but packs a punch - such fun and unique clothing and accessories. I got a fanny pack that's going to make me smile every time I use it. The person working the cashier was super nice, and explained that they ask for my contact information so I can take advantage of the item's lifetime warranty (a very nice surprise!). They also asked me if I would be willing to give them the plastic bag that the fanny pack came in so that they can reuse it for another fanny pack, as they like to reuse plastic bags whenever possible. I definitely appreciate that. They placed my item in another plastic bag that I could carry, and I loved the detailed branding (colorful bag, closed with a colorful piece of tape to keep it closed at the top). Overall, enjoyable visit and I'll totally be back next time I'm in the area.

Yelp
I never make reviews but this place made me so uncomfortable. The Japanese village plaza is the location I visited during a small trip to LA, seems cool upon entry. I and others in my party were greeted by Ana V, she seemed nice at first. The clothes had no price tags on them so I only grabbed one pare of sweats, at checkout she said the price very quietly it sounded like $29.22 but was in facts $129.22. After seeing the price I was charged, I asked for a refund. This is where she changed, her kindness was 100% gone and she looked me up and down like I was broke. It was the last day of my trip and I wasn't going to blow the rest of my money on a single pare of shien quality pants. I felt so judged by her it was infuriating, who else has she treated like that? She was cut and dry, didn't tell me when I'd get my money I had to ask another lady. Ana V made me uncomfortable and gave me the worst service. I do not recommend this place.

Yelp
Amazing beautiful store! Great customer service with Serena!!! Definitely a check out store!

Yelp
Amazing store and very very good services. Found an outfit thanks to Serena!!!!! Best shop to find near that okonomiyaki place.

Sarah G.

Yelp
This place is amazing. The vibe is so good. The patches and pins are great. The clothes are so cute. Definitely should come if you into the retro 90s look. The staff Serena was super nice. And everything is locally source makes it all the better!
