Where to Eat Breakfast in Tijuana Right Now - Eater San Diego

"While Puebla-style mole is the star of this Zona Rio institution, Mexican breakfast classics make it a popular morning destination. The popular chilaquiles come in a variety of sauces, including mole poblano, and in regional variants like huevos motuleños or tarascos. The cinnamon-infused cafe de olla is a must." - Mario A. Tried the 3 sauce enchiladas and it was great. Mole was a bit extra sweet, but others were delicious. Highly recommend the spice blend they serve at the start. That was very different and it added the perfect crunch to the food.

Google
I loved the inside of the restaurant nice layout everything was clean looking, including the bathroom. The waiters that served us were super nice, they hustle to get you what you want, great care for the customers. Now the food we had was the best, even the chips and salsa were really good, the salsa is sweet then warms up they may add apple cider to the salsa, so good. We had ordered the queso fundido with chorizo its served with hand made tortillas corn and flour, and they are thick. My plate was the chicken echiladas with green salsa, i think this was one of the best i have ever had really really good, i know some of my friends mom would disagree and that theirs are the best but this place is great, if you are in TJ anytime go have lunch or dinner here and see.

Google
Highly recommend enchiladas (we picked cheese one with 3 sauces). I wish they had seafood option as well. Also, tried tres leche cake and it was ok.

Google
Best Mole chicken enchiladas possibly in the world. One of Tijuana's best restaurants with incredibly sweet service and caring owners for decades. An absolute jem of a traditional restaurant.

My family and I visited La Casa Del Mole on Mother's day and there were no regrets! We failed to make a reservation ahead of time and ended up waiting about 15minutes to get seated. Not bad at all! The nice lady who was our server gave us impeccable customer service. She constantly checked on us and refilled our drinks. The food was delicious! They give you a complimentary stew/caldo when you order a main dish. It was amazing! Everyone was happy with their food. They have a chili flake mixed with sesame seeds and spices for your caldos, we loved it so much we ordered some to go! Highly recommend visiting this place, especially if you like mole!

Google
I had the pork leg in mole. Delicious. I didn’t know what to expect, the ambiance and atmosphere is so nice, but we had to park down the street and walk. I assumed it was very busy but we sat right away. Everything was good, rice, beans, mole. Service tremendous. Loved everything about the place.

Google
This is a classic Mexican restaurant with a beautiful fountain in the center of the building, It’s very pleasant to hear the water as you can dine next to it. This is a pretty large restaurant near a roundabout, they have parking on a side street next to the restaurant. They also have clean restrooms. The food and service are excellent. If you want genuine Mexican tasting food, this place is a good choice. It can be a challenge getting there during peak afternoon hours because of traffic and people parking on the side of the street. The food is well worth it!

Google
This place is delicious and I would highly recommend it for breakfast! The chilaquiles were delicious and fresh! It was just the right amount of food as well, not too much, not too little. The coffee was dark and strong. Plus, the restaurant itself was beautiful, airy, and colorful. We went on a Tuesday morning, so it wasn't crowded at all. We will be coming back for sure!

Yelp
Food and service were amazing. We ordered a chicken tamale with mole sauce and huarache with carne asada.

Yelp
La Casa de Mole was in my 5 places to visit this weekend! I finally got to go! The food was good. The moles were awesome. I had the mole poblano and it was delicious. We also ordered a caldo de res because the weather was cold. It was great. The rice complimented this well. My hubby ordered the flautas de mole and queso fundido surtido. They were both very good. Service was great. Food was delivered timely. The place is clean and beautiful. You must visit when in TJ!

Yelp
My good friend & I went to TJ for a couple things with one of her friends. After our initial mission, we went to go eat at this place. It gives me the feels of comfort & reminds me of Mexicali. I am a big fan of Día De Los Muertos & Frida Kahlo so the decore hits, except the old Christmas trims. It might have had AC or my hormones but it was hot in there. The staff was polite. Our waiter was very nice & patient to show us the menu in pictures on his IPad like device. Almost everyone was bilingual & the menus were also written in Spanish & English. The food was so good. I'm Filipina, so I can't say it's just like Nana would make. If I was I would say the food was definitely comforting & delicious like home made food. They wouldn't be called House of Mole if that wasn't their signature dish. They had 4 types of Mole Sauces: Poblano, Ranchero, Alemendrado & Green. You can order it on chicken or on beef tongue . I ordered the chicken with Poblano & Ranchero. Tasty AF. My girlfriend ordered grilled Chicken with a green sauce. While we waited they bring chips & 3 types of salsas. The salsas were 2 dry ones with peanuts one being very spicy & one not & one that seems like the mole base with heat. I honestly have never tried a dry salsa but they were so tasty. Should of taken that with us! BTW they charge for to go boxes. I didn't check out their alcohol menu but they had lots of 'aguas' . We had the pina guayaba - deliciosas no refills so drink slowly. Overall the place was great, clean inside & out. The food was served fast & fresh tasting. I don't go to TJ often but would go again if I do.

Yelp
Great food lot of selections good service parking across the street traditional ambiance

Yelp
Been here twice, The service was super quick, the food was bomb. But the pina coladas had me coming back. This place was super cost efficient too
google avatar

Yelp
The food was amazing! Service was great, I will definitely be coming back when I'm in TJ.

Yelp
The best mole I've had in Tijuana to date. It is exquisite and just absolutely delicious. Truly fit for an Aztec King. The aromas, flavor and texture are superb. I can't say whether it is made in house or sourced from Puebla, but either way, you will not be disappointed. Paired with fresh tortillas and a spicy salsa, it will make you taste buds dance. Yes they serve pancakes and carne asada and antojitos, but this is the House of Mole! Would you go to Disneyland and not ride the Matterhorn or Space Mountain? Do yourself a favor and order the mole. Bomb.com!

Yelp
Casa de Mole was one of the first places I ate at years ago with my now partner in life so it definitely has a special place in our hearts. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of the food on this trip over the border and only got the signs and some of the decorations. We went on a weekday evening for dinner and were greeted immediately by a friendly hostess and seated at a table. They have the most amazing (in my opinion) salsa that I often buy to take home. I don't know what it is about it but I absolutely love it. They give you salsa and fresh tortilla chips when you are seated. They also bring over a chicken consomé bowl which is a nice touch. Tonight we tried the Poblano and Ranchero Moles and the Chipotle Crema Chicken. All dishes come with rice and beans and tortillas on the side. I think they will automatically come with corn tortillas if you don't ask for flour. All of the dishes were piping hot when they arrived at the table and they were all delicious. Service at the restaurant was outstanding as well. And yes, I did take a container of the salsa home with us. :) Give them a shot. You might just like it.

Yelp
Had the best Mole Chilaquiles, so fresh and mole sauce was to die for. Would definitely return and recommend

Sandra B.

Yelp
The Food was amazing good, the mole and delicious dishes were amazing authentic dishes.
google avatar

Gab U.

Yelp
Good service, nice ambiance, great food! Everything our group ordered was delicious. From the caldo de res (traditional beef soup with veggies), to the breakfast dishes, everything was delicious. The mole was on the sweeter side but they have three other mole options, including a spicy version. I ordered a glass of sparkling wine with side of juice to make a mimosa but they use a very sweet wine so do not recommend. The beer was cold and delicious. Definitely coming back but not for the mimosas!

Yelp

Yelp
I love this place, This place is really representing the authentic flavors and decor of Mexico. The place is super cute, clean, Vibrant. The food is really fresh and tastes delicious. I highly recommend this place, if you're looking for delicious food and a wonderful ambiance, this is the place. I will return soon.

Yelp

Yelp
Zero stars!! Roach infested! And food is not that great. Run! Unless you want to experience a roach in your food or drink! Manager never came by poor waitresses was so embarrassed. They took our drinks off as an apology.. lol.

Koorina A.

Yelp
Over rated. The mole here is not great. Far too heavy on the cinnamon and not tasty as I expected from a place that specializes in mole. I had the chilaquiles divorciados and give those a 3 out of 5. My mom tried the mixiotes and said they were salty and not good. My sister in law ordered the enchiladas de mole con pollo and was unimpressed. If a Mexican restaurant, in Mexico, can't do beans and rice right, that's an indication that the rest of the food will not be good.

Sativa R.

Yelp
My husband and I had an excellent time here. We never felt rushed and the food was amazing. Great service and it seems to be a busy local restaurant but nobody seemed stressed or rude. Highly recommend
google avatar

Javi M.

Yelp
This place is is very good also the different type of Mole also the price is not bad for your food also there is a parking lot right next to the restaurant that is easy to walk to they have different type of drinks too
google avatar

Adriana C.

Yelp
Gross! Tortilla was undercooked. I've never seen sticky red rice with no flavor and some refried beans!
google avatar

Omar R.

Yelp
Great mole poblano and orchatas. Amazing customer service. I had the mole poblano with a chicken breast and tortillas. Really good. Finished with a michelada. Very reasonable in price, about $45 with tip for three adult meals with drinks included.
google avatar

Catherine L.

Yelp
Delicious! We ordered chilaquiles with green mole. The mole is so fresh and perfect. I ordered my chilaquiles with over easy eggs and my boyfriend ordered his chilaquiles with chicken. He said the chicken was tender and fresh. We also ordered fresh drinks that are delicious. We will definitely be returning when we go to TJ again The customer service is so welcoming and kind.

Yelp
Less than impressed. This was our 2nd time there. They are following all covid protocols. I asked for café del olla with room in cup for REGULAR milk. They did not have cafe de olla ...about 15 minutes later we heard another server pouring cafe de olla. Then they brought me creamer. They said they did not half milk. I found that hard to believe. So I asked for coke. I was given a warm coke with ice but it had already melted so my coke would get watered down. My husband ordered the michoacana and I ordered chilaquiles with chicken. My food came out immediately. I was almost done when my husbands food cane out. The chilaquiles were on the dry side. My husband enjoyed his food. There is parking across the street which is nice.
google avatar

Svetlana L.

Yelp
My favourite restaurant in TJ. I don't know names of our meals. Mine was with chicken and vegetables. Yummy! We were surprised when we got at first soups (for free). Also, there were a few glasses of white and rose wine, and beer. Such a good place to visit!
google avatar

Christina C.

Yelp
The breakfast here is so good! We had chilaquiles estilo Zacatlán. The chilaquiles came in a bowl of hot sauce soup. With slices of queso fresco and sour cream. I personally didn't think they were going to be good because who has chilaquiles in a soup?! Seriously, best chilaquiles. They were spicy and the tortillas were still fried and crispy opposed to soggy. Also, they were served with a side of potatoes and fried beans which were also good. The cafe de olla was too sweet for my taste. It tasted too sweet from the pilón Colli and chile pueblo. El pastel de chocolate was very sabroso. You can definitely tell the difference between American chocolate and Mexican chocolate. The best part? This place plays live acoustic music for breakfast! And the singer was awesome! For everything that I mentioned add an orange juice and our total was $12! What a steal! I will definitely be coming back here!
google avatar

Luis C.

Yelp
I only will give this place two stars since the ambience and service were great but the food was lacking on the flavor side. The mole I was expecting something full of flavor that would excite my pallet but it made it feel more dead than a graveyard, it was like tasting water with a tiny bit of flavoring. My fiance that made mole for.the first time was able to give it far more flavor than this place. I do not recommend this place and the price was not worth it.
google avatar

Erik G.

Yelp
Great place to go at times they have live soft music to enjoy but the best is all their food is authentic and very tasty I wish I took a picture! But as you can see I didn't because it was so delicious I forgot I had the lengua con crema de cilantro and it was bomb so many different kinds of mole. Inside is nice and relaxing.
google avatar

Crystal A.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick bite with the fam! Ordered the cilantro coriander chicken breast plate. It came with rice, delicious fried beans, and a juicy piece of breast (yes, I said juicy!). Antonio was a phenomenal waiter! Ask for him and I promise you won't be sorry. My plate came with a complimentary chicken broth soup and a sweet tamale for dessert that I took to go! Such a good time. Ooo and there's live music too ;) 10 out of 10 service. Must try!

EE A.

Yelp
google avatar

Lisa T.

Yelp
Mole it was fantastic ! I also love that they have a small menu. The server was very attentive and to add to the ambience they have live music....it's a nice addition not too loud and not too quiet he was playing classic Mexican music
google avatar

Jon R.

Yelp
Nice little hidden gem in Tijuana. Great ambience on the inside with a nice fountain and food has big servings and is that a fair price. Free chips and salsa. The tortilla soup was really good. I am vegetarian now so it's nice to get the chicken tortilla soup style minus the chicken. They did prepare the traditional dishes that we wanted vegetarian style. The mole, chili rellenos, as well as the sopes and the flautas. They also accept credit cards here without a surcharge which is nice as well. Traditional music playing in the background if there's no live band playing. Food comes out relatively fast. They're using a tablet to take your order at the table so that helps food comes out faster. The mole was very good it wasn't such a strong Chocolate taste like some other places I've tried. Overall recommended to take a date or if you're craving some authentic Mexican food in a nice clean place.
google avatar

Randall H.

Yelp
I've had a LOT of mole in my life, and use a restaurant's mole poblano as a litmus test. While the food at this place is very good, their mole poblano was cloyingly sweet, almost to the point I felt I was eating dessert as my entree. Hat said, it was a yummy sweet... I will give them another chance when next I'm in TJ and sample their other moles. Overall not a bad meal, just not a mole poblano that lived up to my expectations.
google avatar

Yelp
We did a day trip to Tijuana from San Diego. We came across this spot. It was cutie. Service was good and it was so cheap. 2 michealadas, a lemonade, an appetizer, an entree, and 2 large soups for $35. Overall food was alright. I wish their chips came with authentic salsa. Their tortilla soup is good but they overdid it with the tortillas. The tamal was a little sweet. Michealadas were basic. The vibe was cute with the live piano player.

Yelp
This will be one of the restaurants we keep coming back to, when we visit Tijuana. Tasty food; quick, attentive service; calming, lovely ambiance. I'd never had mole sauce. I think it might be an acquired taste. It wasn't awful, I'm just accustomed to my sauces being tangy and salty. Mole sauce is mildly sweet. I didn't like the mole sauce by itself, but when eaten with the chicken, it's quite yummy. And the chicken breast ... soooo tender and succulent! The price for the amount of food is very affordable. Three of us were very full for $42.53. The chips and 3 small bowls of salsa/yummy cruchy things are gratis. We ordered appetizer Queso Panela Asado and Guacamole. So, mixing those 6 things together made for some very happy taste buds. They brought us each a small bowl of tasty chicken broth and rice soup. Waiter asked if we wanted corn tortillas, so we said yes. Wow! Fresh, hot, white corn tortillas are . So . Much . Better . than any corn tortilla I've ever had! One of my dining partners ordered (2) chicken Tamales with green sauce. Quite scrumptious, and about twice the size we were expecting.
google avatar

Ricardo L.

Yelp
Very good flavor, large portions, funky atmosphere and live music. It was a great way to start the day.
google avatar

Gustavo C.

Yelp
Very nice environment. They really helpful even though they get busy. They have several options of moles from enchiladas to chicken beast with mole and more.
google avatar

Carol G.

Yelp
Chipotle enchiladas are very very good, totally recommend you trying them. Beans are good, rice was ok. Salsa served in a little plastic cup, not so tasty, it doesn't have good flavor. They are thorough with covid protocols which is a plus for me.
google avatar

Paula R.

Yelp
Located in Tijuana Mexico down a few blocks from the Costco. You can spot the restaurant by the colorful banners they have right out front. Parking lot is small but we were lucky enough to get a spot. It's busy but not crowded so there is very little wait time. The indoor decor is very different there's a lot to look at including 2 huge indoor trees, I think they are fake. The service was quick and friendly, reasonably priced and the food was delicious. They only have a few varieties of moles about five. I got the chicken with mole poblano and it was delicious! The chicken was really moist and the mole was full of complex flavor. I ordered a side salad which was very sad looking I didn't even touch the browned lettuce. We also had margaritas those were good. Overall I'd say it's great place for chicken and mole don't order the side salad stick to the rice and beans as the sides and wash it down with a margarita!
google avatar

Juan V.

Yelp
While in Tijuana and hungry, we found this place on Yelp. The place is nice and clean. The staff was somewhat moody. The food was bland and not as good as we were expecting based on some reviews. We had tamales, soup, chile rellenos. The best was the soup. Would pass on this one.
google avatar

Daily B.

Yelp
Really cute place, very colorful decor. The service is good. We came for breakfast and ordered: huevos montados which was really good. Huevo con Mole and Enchiladas de Mole. The mole was good, but a little too sweet for my taste. Live music made our breakfast very especial. The prices of the food is really good. Hot coco Montados Chilaquiles Huevo en mole Total $29.55

Alexa D.

Yelp
They don't sale gorditas i was searching a place for gorditas and this place pup up and they don't
google avatar

A K.

Yelp
Came here because the reviews were outstanding. I found the food bland and flavorless. The waitress claimed they had only one kind of salsa which is strange for a Mexican restaurant. The quesadilla was really bad; the Chile relleno was passable. I'd skip this restaurant and the reviews here

Jocelyn G.

Yelp
Nice place, really good food. We had the Mole Poblano with chicken and the mole Verde enchiladas with chicken. Both were really good and the mole sauce was possibly the best we ever had. Good service and friendly staff.
google avatar

Patricia U.

Yelp
Good potions. My favorite dish and sweet. We also ordered the Chipotle delicious. Cafe De Olla like it should be... perfect.
google avatar

Antonio S.

Yelp
Every dish here is delicious, fresh and authentic! The consome (broth soup) Cafe de olla are the best! I eat here every time we come down.

Colette P.

Yelp
A great experience from the minute we entered the restaurant. Fun atmosphere, super nice waitress the food was excellent, we had chicken enchiladas with crème cilantro sauce. So yummy and we were shocked when we got our bill Ava saw how reasonable it was for such great food. So happy we were recommended to go here.
google avatar

Sandra V.

Yelp
The service was great! There was live music makes it a plus. The food was ok, not bad but not the best I've had. I ordered the 3 chicken enchiladas 3 different sauces on each enchilada. Creamy cilantro sauce, mole sauce and chipotle sauce. Each order comes with chicken broth. What I did love was the green juice! Looks really nice inside. Oh and a complementary dessert (Bunuelo)
google avatar

Yelp
Place has awesome mole dishes. Had the mole chilaquiles with chicken and it was great. Wife had chicken-breast with mole and scrambled eggs and since she barely left any bones I'm guessing she liked it.
