10 Perfectly Delicious Pit Stops Between Los Angeles and Palm Springs

"Molinos Coffee started in Cuba and was revived by owner Irene Gonzalez in Riverside in 2013. Her Redlands location is perfectly situated off the 10 Freeway’s Orange Street exit serving the same menu as the original, with cortados, cafe con leche, and cold brew over ice sweetened with condensed milk." - Mona Holmes

Love this place and the vibe, so cute and the drinks were delicious. They serve both teas and coffees with a good selection. The service was also quick and they were super nice. We visited on a Saturday and there was a farmers market right in front across the street.

Google
The coffee was disappointing—lacking flavor and not served hot enough. The service was decent, though. The exterior of the place gives a nice impression, but the interior is quite regular.

Be prepared to wait. The service is slow and the customer service is lacking. The cinnamon honey latte was good. The caramel blend was very sweet. We also ordered a PB & honey sandwich, breakfast sandwich (which does not have a scrambled egg like the picture) and avocado toast with everything but the bagel seasoning. The avo toast was way too salty. Nice seating area in the back with a ramp leading to the bottom. For parking I recommend the parking garage one block over. The roof usually always has spaces.

I come here for the good coffee and great homemade muffins. They only have one person working at all times so its slow service. Also, it always closes at 5 pm, which is a bummer because I would like to hang out longer, but I cant.

Came again, had cupcake that was sublime and good cappuccino. Hubby has a guava Danish which was fresh and coffee. Note, this time they were really slow and it only got busy after we ordered. I still like them though. See new pics. Back in and had avocado toast. Yum. Omg. Had waffle bites with strawberries , fruit cup and single shot cubano with half and half and cinnamon-- perfect expresso drink, perfect. The goodies were extra tasty too. Recommend

Google
Family owned business with two locations. The downtown Redlands has become integrated into the local community and is a favorite. Typical hot and cold coffee drinks, with additional Cubano style drinks as well. Very friendly and knowledgeable baristas and cooks! Stop by and give them a try!

Google
Had only been to the Riverside location across from the Mission Inn. The Blended Dirty Chai was just the way I remember it. Tasty 😋. Also a nice atmosphere and ambiance in particular in the area to the back. Definitely coming back.

Dropped in for some coffee during the weekend afternoon. Not to crazy busy, server was nice and helpful. We did not have the pleasure to try any food, but our coffees were awesome.

Yelp
The barista Brianna is amazing. My drink was very good. The best coffee shop!!!!!!!!

Yelp
Cuban coffee heaven! Wow I loved my little coffee- it reminded me of memories when my Cuban friends would make us this. The space is clean and service is friendly. There's lots of space to work in the back and even a printer. It's a simple interior but exactly what is needed. You can sit outside and get a view of downtown Redlands. I recommend!!!!

Yelp
I actually don't know why people still support molinos... it's another version of augies and w/ the same treatment to employees. I worked here for maybe a month not even because of how rude the owner is and how entitled she is. There are multiple reviews on Yelp and on other websites of how disgusting the employees are treated.
google avatar

Kerri-Anne Nicole W.

Yelp
Just came from here. The lady taking my order was very rude and dismissive. It seemed as if we were annoying her that we were there. It almost seemed as if she didn't want to be there. I have never experienced this kind of service from this place before I usually come here every week because I work in Redlands and I normally love the experience and the service I get but today I did not like it and I am very disappointed.

Yelp
Service was pretty slow, took about 15 minutes for my drink to be made with half a dozen people in the store. They have several food options & some inside seating, not a bad spot to chill. But nothing really stood out to me about Molinos
google avatar

Yelp
If you're here for their Cuban-style offerings or espresso-based drinks... Then I'm sure you'll be pleased. I ordered a Cafe con Leche, not realizing it is no longer "Cuban style." it's purely coffee and milk. I hadn't been here in forever so that was my mistake to not notice. Service was a lackluster. Same old song. Not really too fond of the place but they do have Art of Teas for their tea selection (I've had Earl Grey creme at home/have had it elsewhere) and their coffee gets the job done I guess. There is a great coffee scene in Redlands aside from Molinos.

Yelp
Talk about the cutest coffee shop the space here is so unique and super cool, it makes you want to sit down enjoy your coffee maybe read a good book. The coffee comes in such variety. I have come in 3 times now and each time a very nice barista guides me to trying something I might like with my usual preferences and let me tell you I have not been disappointed it's always a friendly experience

Yelp
Cute, clean, and always have a welcoming water bowl outside for my pup. I like to get the cappuccino or affogato here. Never had a bad experience.

Yelp
Love Molinos in Riverside. Was in Redlands so I decided to get some coffee. ONE person taking orders AND making coffee!! Really. The riverside store has about 3-5 helpers. Get it together Redlands.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Saturday morning, ordered a chocolate muffin, it was rather dry, highly recommend getting it warmed. Also, ordered the açaí bowl (delicious), and the peppermint mocha latte (not as sweet as I had hoped). Will return, it was very busy, glad to see there was a hiring now sign posted, they could definitely benefit from additional help. Plenty of seating inside and outdoors, nice location.
google avatar

Yelp
My friend got an Iced caramel cold brew and it was so disgusting we couldn't even finish it together she tried it it was not good i tried it was not good. A weird taste like watered down low quality coffee, no caramel flavor to save it. Nice and pretty place to chill, very empty. Barista was nice too.

Yelp
Only one girl running the whole shop and SHE WAS GOOD!! I felt so bad for her she was rushing to get everyone's orders. She held her own for sure though. Props to her . Anyways she made our coffee AMAZING. I absolutely loveeeeed my coffee and can't stay away from Molinos Coffe now. I got the Dulce Latte! My fiancé got the Nutella Shake (it tasted mostly like banana). 10/10 recommend. The Sitting area in the back is so quiet and romantic. It has a chandelier and a cute back drop to take pictures in.

Yelp
Stopped by on a weekday afternoon and it was DEAD. The space is large, clean and modern, and probably a good place to study considering there was nobody in there. There's additional space down the hall towards the back for extra quiet. Service was great - the barista answered my questions, made some recs and let me try the cookie butter syrup before ordering. (Glad she did, too, because I didn't like it.) Vanilla latte - 7/10 Solid latte, but nothing too special. The vanilla syrup is not made in house, but it wasn't bad. Guava Cheese Pastry - 8/10 The taste was great, but I wish the filling was more evenly distributed. The center had a big chunk of guava and cheese but towards each edge it was just puff pastry. It took a few bites to get to the good stuff.

Yelp
I didn't have any intention of coming here based on mixed reviews, but my son had to use the bathroom, so I reluctantly had to come in and purchase something. I got a regular drip coffee and some type of guava pastry. Both were quite good. The coffee was flavorful without being too acidic. The pastry tasted like guava strudel at Porto's but I actually thought this one was better. It was smoother and creamier, without any burnt taste. It has some interesting looking drinks, which I might try in the future if I'm ever back in the area. I just didn't feel like getting any lattes or sweet drinks because I already had a sweet drink at Roast the Dead Coffee in Yucaipa.
google avatar

Irene L.

Yelp
The reviews seemed really good especially about their teas. So I ordered the hibiscus tea, I was told it was really sweet. So I didn't add any sweetener to it. It was very much bitter. Needed a lot of sugar. I was excited to try their guava cheese pastry but they no longer carry it. Which is odd because that's mainly what there positive reviews are about. They don't have a lot of pastry options. It's all stuff you could make at home Bagel w cream cheese Nutella and strawberries Peanut butter toast w bananas. Nothing special for them to stand out. Any other coffee shop would have more variety and better taste.

Yelp
I went to this location during a weekday. Im a huge coffee person and a lover of strong coffee. In my personal opinion i think that the coffee was a bit watery and not much of a taste. Ambiance: Inside the coffee place you will find a plenty of tables to sit on or study which is great.

Yelp
Molino's Coffee is located in downtown Redlands in what used to be Augie's original building. That's right.. what used to be the iconic brick red building is now painted a soothing white. They are flanked on one side by the Tartan. The Redlands location is the sister location to the Riverside one which is located in the Mission Galleria building. My brother and I have been here approximately a half-dozen times. Not being a huge coffee drinker (love the smell, not fond of the taste), I can say that the one coffee drink I've had here (their white mocha), was tasty, smooth, and not too bitter. My brother and I really really like their tea-based drinks. Their passion fruit and hibiscus green teas are some of the tastiest I've ever had! The building floor plan is kind of like a "shotgun" style. The main serving area is in the front along with some seating, but you have to go further back for the additional seating and study rooms. There's even room way in the back for small music events (which Augie's used to feature back in the day). The employees are always pretty friendly and happy to make suggestions; the couple of pastries I've tried here were moist and delicious. For now a solid 4 stars. Certainly worth dropping by when you are in need of your caffeine fix and want to explore their menu. As an amusing aside. I'm not sure if anybody else has noticed this, but their logo very closely resembles the language the alien Heptapods used in the movie "Arrival". Whenever I point this out to their workers and show them what I mean, I kinda get a blank stare. This is why I sometimes call Molino's "The Alien Coffee Place" I'll post 2 pics to my review to illustrate what I mean. See for yourself! Things that make you say hrmmmm...

Yelp
Friendly staff is always a plus especially early in the morning. Place is bigger than what I thought - seating area in the back is cute. Ordered an iced Dulce de Leche latte - it was good. Not too sweet.

Yelp
1 star for customer service 5 stars for drinks I've visited this location several times. Yesterday Monday 1/15 @ 3:50pm I walked in to place a drink order. There were several people in line, and only one person behind the bar and another one sweeping. Seemed as if they were focusing on cleaning up and closing rather than taking care of the customers waiting in line. The girl who finally took my drink order wasn't pleasant. She seemed annoyed and unfriendly. It took 12 minutes for my (2) drinks. I said thank you kindly and wasn't responded to. My drink was horrible this particular occasion. There was no way I was going back to have it remade. The owners should review who worked yesterday afternoon and discuss customer service.

Jamie M.

Yelp
Super disappointed with the number of corners that Molino's has started taking. Used to be good coffee. Now: lemonade from powder; orange juice from a box; and watered down coffee with no flavor. Not to mention that service took way too long for a cup of coffee.

Yelp
Best coffee shop in Redlands. We have tired all the other businesses that have popped up along the way here and NONE hold a match to this place. Excellent coffee, great drinks, great atmosphere and not the "they are trying way too hard" vibe. Love that it's in downtown but do wish they were open later. Do yourself a favor and get an affogato
google avatar

Yelp
Decent coffee shop in downtown Redlands, in the heart of everything, easy to spot. We grabbed a Horchata Latte (this is a Hispanic fusion coffee shop, which is a fun idea) which was pretty good. We got it to go. Nice customer service, OK decor. They have a restroom, but I didn't use it.My only complaint is - they need more and better outdoor seating! This place would attract more customers if they would have that!

Yelp
Very yummy latte in quaint downtown Redlands..if you know me at all you have to know that for me coffee is life. A quad shot latte is a building block to my day. You do not want to encounter me on no coffee. No es buenooo me porto mal en realidad haha. Well I must tell you that this little spot while out of the way ( I don't mind) had a super solid latte. I did have to deduct one star because stylistically my latte had no design in the foam, no little hearts or leaves, aww what the heck.. Ughhhh the sacrilege. I know first world problems right. But the spot is so charming I loved the brick walls, the iron statue of a dog, and doggie water bowl at the entrance, the chandelier, and the azteca warrior who paid my cafecito was okay too. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area. Would I go back?? Totally

Yelp
Cute little shop! Smaller than the Riverside location, but very convenient to the downtown Redlands walking area. Pipping hot tea -- great selection. They had both my favourites (English Breakfast and Earl Grey). Affordable. Lovely indoor seating. Restroom available for customers. Love the style of the building and the white exterior. They had some delicious looking Valentine's cupcakes! 2023: 15/100

Yelp
Really cute coffee spot. The staff is very kind. I tried the lavender matcha latte. It was super good, a little bit too sweet, but perfect for those who love sweet drinks. Can't wait to come back and try something else in the menu.
google avatar

Richard B.

Yelp
Top flight coffee with a Cuban slant. Too bad they don't have Cuban pastries to match.
google avatar

Luna A.

Yelp
The place is super cute, I got a matcha and I didn't add anything it was super sweet and didn't have much of a matcha taste

Becca R.

Yelp
I came in here for the first time this past Sunday late in the morning. Service was good and baristas were polite. The shop itself was very clean and there was plenty of seating. I ordered an iced matcha with oat milk and asked if it was already sweetened. The barista told me it was so I said great and ordered it as is. My matcha was insanely sweet, like to the point I had to buy a water bottle after the first two sips. I had my boyfriend try it and he said it tasted like cake batter. I could not finish it.

Yelp
I wanted to adventure into downtown Redlands, over the past 9 years it's definitely revamped it's boulevard. This crafty coffee place is really good, I got the Horchata Latte and it was delicious. The space is super cute, the back room is super fancy because it has a chandelier and a faux tree and it's a great coffee date idea, it offers a wide work spaces and it's fairly quiet. I would recommend trying this place. I will return.

Yelp
Molinos Coffee is a simple and cute coffeehouse across the street from Ed Hales Park in downtown Redlands. Parking is easy also across the street. The service has always been quick. Given the Redlands' year-round weather, this is a great spot to get a drink and shop Saturday's Farmer's Market, have an outdoor seat at Ed Hales Park or window shop State St. The restaurant is deeper than you'd expect - there is ample socially distanced seating in the back, few windows though. On this particular day we sat next to the window and enjoyed our coffee and bagel. The bagels weren't displayed but they had a few fresh ones to choose from, when I asked. The coffee was fresh and good. The bagel was also fresh, and hit the spot on this overcast morning. And don't forget to pat the yellow lab on the way in - he'll sit for anyone.

Yelp
Location: Downtown Redlands a block west of Orange Street Alley on 5th Street Parking: Street and city lot across the street. Experience: We saw someone walking around in the Orange Street Alley with a coffee drink and they directed us to this charming coffee shop. They have plenty of seating indoors & a couple of tables outdoors too. There is a small public plaza/park across the street perfect to further enjoy the day We enjoyed our drinks & look forward to the next time we are in Downtown Redlands.

Marie L.

Yelp
I've traded Starbucks and Dutch Bros for my affogato from Molino's it is absolutely amazing and delicious. I like to add my affogato in a cup of ice with a little bit of water to make it a full drink. It is seriously the best! The young woman with the dark hair is super sweet, she knows what I order now without me having to ask. Highly recommended and now my friends are ordering the same drink. It is simply the best!
google avatar

Yelp
Giving a 5 star shout out to Stephanie the manager. She is amazing! I am a morning regular at this location. Every time I go in there she is always welcoming and has a smile on her face no matter how busy it is. My drinks are always made with good energy and come out perfect. She even went as far as remembering my name and that spoke volumes. My coworkers and I who work on state street know of her because of how sweet she is! Finding great customer service these days is so hard to come by so this is refreshing to see. Truth be told, Molinos wouldn't be what it is without her. She sets the tone for sure.
google avatar

Brittney S.

Yelp
Employees are so kind! It's a cozy spot with delicious dishes & drinks. Great location too.

Madi N.

Yelp
Amazing customer service! Our barista was such a sweetheart. The drinks were amazing and the ambiance of the cafe was so relaxing.
google avatar

Holly W.

Yelp
I really liked the environment for studying, but there is a lack of tables during busy times. For the coffee, it was very expensive to upgrade to oat milk and was so sweet I could barely finish it. Not sure if their espresso isn't strong enough? But definitely on the sweet side.
google avatar

Roger C.

Yelp
Great first impression (yes, even during COVID). The deco in this place is fabulous! This building has never looked this good. The coffee? Yummerz! I tried the iced cold brew coffee today....the brew is nice and strong, but it stays strong because the ice cubes are cold brew too...Brilliant! The service? Fab! The person there this morning was friendly and helpful. She engaged in conversation and made our first visit a great one. This location has changed some hands in the last few years....come support them, I like this version of the historic brick coffee house! Nice job.

Nay G.

Yelp
Loved it! I got a pumpkin spice latte, Nutella sandwich and a pumpkin muffin everything was delicious. Friendly staff.
google avatar

Branden G.

Yelp
The service was great the barista was so nice and made my drink fast and great next time I'll give her a tip for her great service
google avatar

Yelp
Very friendly staff and they put coffee ice cubes in their cold brew! A+!!!
google avatar

Justin K.

Yelp
What use to be Auggie's Coffee is now Molinos Coffee. Basic colors of white and black adorn the walls here. With the simple aesthetic of a basic color pallette on the exterior, there's two signs in the above windows that disrupt this flow of color of the building. I envision flower pots in the window, but the owner has another idea. My drink was just okay. I ordered a hibiscus ice tea. For the price I paid, I would've expected a larger cup. The menu seemed to offer a lot of items, as the menu looked very busy. I feel that this place doesn't have a "wow" factor to it. It's cute, but nothing to gravitate to. However, I did just stop in 'cause I was thirsty. Not a huge fan of the establishment before, I can't say this ownership is any better. I give them kuddos for trying. It's nice to see fresh paint on an old building and finishing touches to a relic of the past. However, I can't place it........but to me, this place is just okay.
google avatar

Martin A.

Yelp
The staff was friendly and helpful. The coffee was great. We stopped by the afternoon so we were to late to try the pastries the sold out. We will definitely return next time we are in the area.

Nancy A.

Yelp
my blended drink taste really good but the cashier who took my order wasn't friendly at all, cant even smile and looked so mad, i agree with one of the reviews, it must be the same exact person who took our oder and yeah they were in a hurry to close... dont know if ill come back again
google avatar

Carmen C.

Yelp
The service was ok the "cafe con leche" taste disgusting and everything is way overpriced but guys if you have kids or large parties this place is not good for them at least to eat at maybe for takeout They only have 2 ppl seating the tables were wobbly and dirty and it's a lot of students there using their laptops ‍ no place for toddlers lol I had to leave I felt so awkward
google avatar

Trever L.

Yelp
Cool coffee spot, got to love the design as well as their Chocolate muffin. My dulce was perfect, tested fresh. Brought my son in and the staff was kind and accommodating. Will be back for more
google avatar

Mark K.

Yelp
$5.45 for an overpriced coffee plus tax does not equal $6.31... this is Redlands with extra taxes but not 16%... "Oh we raised the prices but didn't change the menu"? Menu is electronic.. so they were able to figure out how to change the Square register to Jack up price but didn't change the menu? I call a fraud
google avatar

Ben K.

Yelp
I had the best cup of coffee this morning. Thanks Irene!! Family owned I love supporting small business
google avatar

Lina R.

Yelp
Such a cute coffee shop! They had a decent selection of coffee / espresso / teas & other drinks to choose from. Staff was very kind and the lattes were so good! The inside of the coffee shop had a nice aesthetic and seemed to have a cute photo opportunity around every corner. I'm sad that they did not offer indoor seating due to CDC guidelines, but I can see myself coming to this coffee shop again to sit and get some work done (in the future of course).
google avatar

Joshua B.

Yelp
For my first time going I felt that Molinos Coffee was Fantastic! Stephanie was wonderful and very kind. The Spice Chai Latte was incredible. The room in the back is perfect for studying. I will definitely be back!
