I'm a total fan of this place! Great food, awesome ambiance, kick a$$ jukebox, and a fantastic staff (Gibb is the nicest bartender I've ever met)! Plus, you never, ever know what you're going to see/experience when you're there.
Now, on to my experience.
We'd gone there for my boyfriend's buddy's birthday party recently (on an early Saturday evening), and when we first walked in, you could immediately tell it was a local's establishment... meaning not a touristy college place, which is what I definitely wanted to avoid. (I mean, who wants the crazy drunk guy playing air guitar to GNR nonstop, right?)
As the evening progressed, meaning as the many, many pints of Guiness were poured and the Shepard's Pie was served, more and more friends started filtering in. Being the dutiful girlfriend that I am, I proceed to feed money into the jukebox, and at the request of Birthday Boy play plenty of GNR & AC/DC. I escape to the comforts of the enclosed outdoor smoke pit in the back where I could smoke in peace, and they could play their pool... they were male bonding, and me not being male, well... yeah.
But I digress.
After about my 5th trip out back, my boyfriend appears and says very calmly, "Sweetie, it is time to go."
As we were walking out the door, I can hear Birthday Boy's voice trailing behind me, yelling, "Hell YEAH" with Paradise City pounding in the background, and Gibb the bartender bidding his farewell...
...we learned the next day that approximately twelve minutes after our departure, Birthday Boy was moved by the music to the point of jumping onto the pool table (a beautiful one, at that), playin' his little heart out on that air guitar, hopping from table to table a'la Slash, then ends it by cartwheeling off said table, missing his mark, and face-planting on the floor.
I'd have paid $1.99 to see that.
Like I said, great place to hang out at, the food's great, staff is awesomely awesome... and you never know what to expect when you're there.
I give it 4 stars overall, but had to throw that extra one in just for having the ability to tell this true story.
Go there. Spend your money on very reasonably priced drinks, tip your bartenders, and split a Shepard's Pie. So totally worth it!
