The Best Spice Bags In London - London - The Infatuation

"Too fancy, too much plate, not enough brown bag—some have lost sight of the true essence of a spice bag, which is eating it in your pants after a big night out. But not Molly Mc's. This Southwark boozer’s version is filled with boulder-sized, good-quality chicken, and the curry sauce has nice coconutty notes running through it. Crucially it's just a touch greasy, which is correct." - sinead cranna

Molly Mc's - Review - Southwark - London - The Infatuation

"Molly Mc’s is a carefully curated Irish boozer. Packets of Taytos are arranged just-so at this Southwark spot, and you’re more likely to hear Noah Kahan’s ‘Stick Season’ wafting out of the karaoke booths (it’s a ‘singing pub’) than ‘The Fields of Athenry’. Gs will be split here, and spice bags papped before being torn into. It’s an Irish boozer that’s undergone media training. video credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch video credit: Sinéad Cranna Pause Unmute Still, there’s no denying that this handsome, lively pub has cracked the formula for post-work pints. Big, roomy tables are snapped up by hoards of office-workers, crowd-pleasing Thai dishes like drunken noodles and prawn pad thai suit the pint-happy mood. Come on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday when the live band strikes up and order the spice bag. It’s one of the best in London. Food Rundown Vegetable Spring Rolls Our response to these spring rolls is the same as when our partner asks if we’re OK when we’re really not: “fine, just fine”. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna Tamarind Duck With Cabbage And Rice The tamarind sauce is all the right kinds of sweet and sour, and the rice is a suitably sticky vehicle for scooping up every last drop. The duck is more fat than meat in parts, though. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna ‘Molly’s Spicebag’ This spice bag is what you come to Molly Mc’s for. They’re generous with the chicken—they call it popcorn, we call it boulders—and the chips have a delicious spice coating that leans more sweet than spicy. The curry sauce has nice coconutty notes running through it, too. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Sinéad Cranna

Stop by for a Spicebag! Molly Mcs took my spicebag virginity and im so happy it happened. Perfect vibey spot in southbank area (sadly a few too many after work suits, but they gotta eat too) with cosy indoor interiors and a leafy outdoor area. Would book a table as it gets busy. Also Jubel on tap, yay! I will be back to sample more of the food.

We had a great afternoon at Molly Mc's. Conveniently located close to Southwark tube station, the pub has a traditional Irish style complete with cosy nooks to enjoy. The drink selection was great - the Guinness tasted smooth and served just right and they serve other beers as well as cocktails. I highly recommend trying the Irish coffee and Molly's sours. They also serve food, but not in the traditional Irish style you might expect - instead they serve a unique selection of Thai-Irish fusion dishes. I recommend trying the spice bags - well seasoned bags of chips with popcorn chicken and fresh chilli - though the spice level is high! The beef curry also tasted great with a more balanced spice level. Molly's has plenty of entertainment options available as well - in particular they have private karaoke rooms you can hire in the back. They also had live music in the evening and a fun ring toss game to try. Overall Molly's had a great vibe, it was pretty busy but people were friendly and staff did a great job serving people. Would definitely recommend to try if you are in the area!

OMG. I can't remember the last time I went somewhere I loved so much. Molly MCs has such a great atmosphere. It feels quite happy and bouncy, when the world outside can be harsh and lonely. We went on a Thursday night, when the sun was shining, the bar was so busy and lively. All the tables were pre booked, so a lovely guy who worked there found us a space in the nook. We ordered spice bags which were absolutely delicious! And then to top it off there was a live Irish band. Heaven. My friend and I keep talking about spice bags. We will be back soon!!!

RIP jack's bar! it's basically an irish colonised thai cuisine - interesting, and they should advertise as such.. my irish SO was not happy when he saw the curry sauce

A nice addition to London, some famed Irish hospitality. Under some railway arches where you're more likely to find a hipster micro-brewery and some vegan pop-ups... so a nice change. The decor and refurb are well done (considering how industrial the body of the building must look). Was very busy when I visited on a Friday evening- and a trad band were warming up in the corner. Feel the homely feel is a bit restricted by the space, would hope for more nocks and cosy tables. Not the sort of place I would feel would have a group of lads singing songs in the corner, like in a rural Irish pub.... maybe this will evolve. Very much a hybrid bar between London and Ireland
