Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream - Review - Redmond - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Molly Moon's is a Seattle classic. The best flavor we’ve ever seen rotate through has been salted toffee, but the nutmeg-scented cookie dough ice cream is always around and always really good. It’s not the best ice cream in Seattle, but you better believe that there's going to be a huge line full of people tasting eight flavors to end up choosing the first one they tried. photo credit: Chona Kasinger" - Aimee Rizzo

Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream

Google
I love Molly Moon’s. They use great, homemade ingredients. They make all of the ice cream themselves and even make all the add ins. For example: they mix and toast their own granola and even bake the cookies they add into the ice cream. They make everything with love and are sure to give you a great experience. Redmond in particular is my go-to ice cream stop.

I was visiting a friend in Bothel and he took me to the Redmond location. We went there around 10.30 and there were about 10-15 members even at that time. I took a sample of salted caramel (always a fan), but it was too salty as few other fellow reviewers mentioned, so I settled for Yeti with hazelnut topping. This was little bit sweet for me (like I said, I am a salted caramel fan, so you can imagine). But the ice cream as such was good, but I wasn’t a fan of their cone. It’s not something I would rave about, but it’s good to give a shot.

Google
tried out the yeti flavor of ice cream at this location. it's kind of a vanilla/caramel like ice cream with some granola inside. i also got it topped with caramel wasn't a huge fan of this flavor. the granola doesn't really work well with the ice cream here - especially not with vanilla + caramel. some other mix-ins with this would've been a lot better 6/10

Google
This was my first time at Molly Moon's. I was very disappointed. I had the gingerbread and the peppermint ice cream. The gingerbread ice cream was served melted. It was pretty gross. The bathrooms were also disgusting. I had to clean the toilet myself before I could use it.

Google
Molly Moon's will forever be my favorite ice cream shop for all eternity. They deliver the most intriguing and flavorful ice creams each season. My past favorites have been the blackberry fraiche and the apple pie. The scoops are pretty generous and we love the merchandise they also sell.

Google
We always go to molly moons to try out the seasonal. We went there last week and tried out the Caramel Cone Crunch. It was delicious , even my daughter who just always gets one particular flavor loved this one. So we went again and all of us got the caramel cone crunch ice-cream. And this time the ice-cream was totally different and it tasted like salted caramel which we did not like. The ice-cream looked and tasted so different from last time, And when we check about it with the server they really did not bother to hear and just told us that it is the same ice-cream with same ingredients. But really how can it taste so different. We were disappointed since we just drove to enjoy the particular flavor since the seasonal flavors is going to change in few days. The first time when we got the caramel cone crunch flavor ice-cream it looked as shown in their website(First pic). But the second time the color was so different(Second pic). Not sure how inconsistent the taste can be for a premium cream. Just recommend everyone to taste a sample before getting since there is inconsistency amongst batches for the same flavor.

Google
Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream – Redmond This location doesn’t have a lot of flavor options, and I was especially disappointed that they didn’t have basic vanilla or even a simple chocolate ice cream. I tried the coconut chunk, but it came with chocolate chips, which I personally didn’t enjoy. The overall taste was just average for me, so I’d say it’s an okay ice cream spot. However, the service was genuinely good — the staff member who helped us was very patient and kind, which I really appreciated.

Google
The flavors are amazing! This is my favorite place to come for ice cream! There seasonal flavors are through the roof and there are always so unique compared to others like cold stone. My name not complaint is that just after a few minutes the ice cream starts dripping even on a 60 degree day. I definitely recommend!

Yelp
Molly Moon's is a super popular spot and I have been here so many times that I never realized I never reviewed it. Everything local made and I love this place because of how they fairly pay their employees. Cute lovely ambience and located near Redmond Downtown Park. I was here about a month back and we tried cookie and cream. What made it stand out was an additional topping of marshmallow. I felt that went very well.

Yelp
A big thanks to the worker who took the time to check the ingredients in their brownies. (I am allergic to sorghum and get nervous whenever a product is labeled gluten-free now). Now I know I can come back to try their mint brownie. Molly Moons has the potential to make my Best of PNW list, but struggled with its space. Delicious ice cream, helpful staff, and generous portions gives it a good step in. I'm sure the space isn't a big deal in the summer, but with few places to sit, a piled up kitchen behind the counter, and hidden bathroom, it's not an ideal spot in the fall and winter months. I truly hope to see more expansion in their future.

Yelp
Came on a random rainy Wednesday night and it was PACKED! Line moved quickly and we were able to get a good number of samples before deciding. Got a double scoop and split both scoops for a total of 4 flavors - yeti - 4/5 granola and mini chocolate chips in caramel, on sweeter side pumpkin pie - 4/5, love the pie crust chunks scoutmint brownie - 5/5 my absolute favorite, brownies are soft and delicious and mint ice cream is creamy Cornbread and honey - 3/5, way too sweet Perfect amount for 3 adults and one kid Was eyeing their ice cream cakes for $39....maybe in the summer!

Yelp
Came on a Friday night, and they were quite busy! I guess the best time to get ice cream is always on cold, rainy nights, which Seattle area specializes. The spot has limited parking in the back, but good thing street parking is free. Located right next to a nice downtown park in Redmond, this is a nice spot to get some ice cream done walk around to explore and window shop. 1 scoop: $6~7 2 scoops: $8 3 scoops: $10 They allow split scoops, so if you get the 2 scoop option, you can get 4 different flavor flavors. Ice cream taste extremely buttery, and thus obviously quite delicious. Similar taste as salt and straw with I would say less interesting flavors. Yeti (8/10) - not entirely sure what's in this, but maybe some combination of chocolate flakes, nuts, but this is probably one of their more popular flavors Mint brownie (8/10) - basically, super minty chocolate chip with a literal piece of brownie bites included. Brownie bites were fabulous, gooey, but are served cold. Fantastic option, and a very nice twist on the mint chocolate chip flavor. Seasonal Flavors: Pumpkin pie (7/10): - super pumpkin pie-ey, with small bits of possibly piecrust within the ice cream, which provides for a very nice bite. Cornbread and honey (5/10): - basically tasted like honey. Quite an overpowering honey taste, but if you like that stuff, then this will be right up your alley. It also has small bits of cornbread in it, which was also provided a nice bite. Overall, a nice local buttery ice cream shop with a nice variety of classic flavors with seasonal flavors. Definitely on the pricier side as our most ice cream shops, on par with salt and straw.

Yelp
My friend and I have been in a several month long battle over who has the better ice cream, with her being a strong Molly Moon's advocate. Had to give it another try and I'm sad to say that I still disagree. Came on a Friday night so the line wrapped around the store for hours. Despite this, the staff did a great job moving it along and passing out samples. I tend to like getting seasonal flavors so I got a s'mores single scoop. This honestly did not taste like s'mores at all. The mix-ins had the components of a s'more like chocolate (more like fudge in this case), crackers, and marshmallow, but something about the base ice cream was so off. It had no real distinct flavor that I could identify- all I could tell was that it was kind of sour and borderline too sweet. I've gotten other seasonal flavors before but I didn't really love any of them. Maybe this is a sign to try their reoccurring flavors :')

Yelp
I walked by one Saturday afternoon and couldn't resist the fragrant ice cream smell. Got a scoop of my favorite flavor, Yeti, which is vanilla with oats and small chocolate chips. It never disappoints me. The service was quick, and you can try out different flavors. There are different toppings as well.
google avatar

Connie M.

Yelp
So good, do yourself a favor and skip salt and straw nearby and come here! Tried the Yeti and the strawberry and didn't need to try anymore flavors. I love how their ice cream isn't overly sleep or creamy, and the strawberry didn't taste artificial as there were no dyes.
google avatar

Yelp
Molly Moon's is one of the ice cream greats in Seattle -- it's a must-visit no matter your affinity for ice cream. There's always a long line out the door, but I promise you -- staff moves quickly, and the ice cream is worth the wait! My favorite two flavors of the month, by far and to date, were the strawberry shortcake and cookies & cream. Unfortunately, this one unfortunate day at Molly Moon's, I got small portions :( But that's just a random unlucky day -- the portions are usually generous, and the staff is usually extremely friendly! Maybe a mean customer came by just before me. The shop itself is very cute, and the next time I'm in Seattle, I will be heading straight to a Molly Moon's... straight from the airport, haha.
google avatar

Long K.

Yelp
One of Seattle's ice cream staples and after years of intermittently trying, it's just not impressive enough. When the out of town family visits and wants ice cream locally, I reluctantly oblige only out of location convenience. There are flavors offered year round, but they are too basic and don't justify $7/ single scoop. The seasonal flavors offer something more unique, but only if it intrigues your palate. It's great they give back to local organizations and don't abuse tipping culture, but with life being inflated nowadays and the product quality not being up to par, it's hard to recommend MM.
google avatar

Leah B.

Yelp
If u love butter just come here. Overpriced and not worth it. Heard good reviews but here are my thoughts: 1) cookies and cream doesn't taste like cookies and cream 2) ice cream tastes so buttery? 3) brownie tastes like chocolate egg 4) overpriced and overhyped Service was good though. Wouldn't get again unless it's only the ice cream alone.
google avatar

Hannah C.

Yelp
As soon as you get to the counter, you are RUSHED to make decisions. I'd never been so I needed a second for the menu but you could tell he was unhappy about it. They're also insanely over priced. My jaw dropped when I saw the total. Because here's the thing, in the "add ins" part of the board, they don't display price, so I assumed it was just free to add maybe 2 toppings (as most places are), but no. We got 2 cups, with one scoop each, and added 2 toppings each. Over $20. That is absolutely insane to me. Ice cream itself was good, brownie bites were kinda gross. Would never pay that much for mid ice cream again.. Shoulda known when I saw ice cream scoops for sale at $20 haha.
google avatar

Megan G.

Yelp
My favorite ice cream place! Great signature flavors as well as fun seasonal flavors as well. I love that they have a waffle cone bowl. Much easier for kids that are adamant on a cone, but upset about drips. Service is always friendly
google avatar

Kristen C.

Yelp
The line looks long, but it moves fast! Not too many seats inside at this location, so plan to walk around downtown with your ice cream. I ordered a Molly's Favorite sundae - salted caramel and melted chocolate scoops with whipped cream, fudge, hazelnuts, and cherries. The salted caramel was pretty salty - bit of an acquired taste - but complemented the chocolate well. Would return!
google avatar

Yelp
I love coming to Molly moon it's such an amazing good ice cream and I love how they have homemade waffle cones and ice cream as well. I love the special they have for April. I went for March. I come here maybe around maybe once or twice a week because I love the action so much even though it's cold outside I enjoy the ice cream. I tried the cinnamon roll ice cream. It is really delicious and with the waffle cone it taste like a cinnamon toast crunch.

Yelp
I have visited this location a few times over the years. I always like trying their different flavors of ice cream and also appreciate that they source most of their ingredients from the PNW. This time I stopped by late on a weeknight. There was street parking nearby. The shop was clean, bright, and inviting. There was some limited area for sitting as well. I liked the subtle scent of their freshly baked waffle cones. Even though it was after 9pm, there were plenty of customers. Fortunately the line moved relatively quickly. The entire staff was very friendly and patient as I sampled a few of their flavors. I settled for a scoop of their matcha chip on a waffle cone. Overall, it was good. I recommend stopping by if you are in the area and want some late night ice cream.
google avatar

Smaly K.

Yelp
We just had lunch and was looking for the nearest ice cream place. My second time getting Molly Moon's and first time at this location. It was pretty busy with a line out the door. There was some kind of festival going on at the park nearby. I got a sundae with chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream topped with brownies and hot fudge. My bf got his usual two scoops of ice cream. My sundae was really good, and pretty fulfilling. I couldn't finish it and made my bf help me.
google avatar

Yelp
Molly Moon's homemade ice cream is local! I love the flavors and quality. The smell of fresh made waffle cones greets you when you walk in! I could not resist getting one! It was sooo good! Try out the seasonal flavors I also love them and they usually have some incredible flavors like cherry chunk or lemon blueberry pound cake!
google avatar

Gagan G.

Yelp
Most delicious ice-cream of america, perfect sugar,i liked honey lavender out of iced latte and coconut one so a must try , the line move pretty fast and fast service , ambiance was much space to stand and eat
google avatar

Yelp
Finally had the perfect convergence of summer weather, no long lines and a hankering for ice cream tonight to try Molly Moon's. I had a single scoop of their seasonal blackberry, which was delicious. Lots of berries with a bit of tartness, which complemented the creamy sweetness of the ice cream. Great that they build the tip into the price and love that they partner with the fabulous Viva Farms program for their strawberries. I'd definitely recommend the ice cream, especially if you have more patience than I do for lines, as they're frequently that busy:)
google avatar

Christopher V.

Yelp
This is the go-to ice cream shop if you're in the Redmond town center area. But salt and straw at Totem Lake is better imo... There is ample street parking and a paid parking garage nearby. Service was quick and easy. There was pop music playing inside. Plenty of merch for sale. Woman owned and local too. This time around I got the movie night seasonal flavor and it was a little too rich that the taste got "tiring" after a while. 4.5 outta 5
google avatar

Jessica N.

Yelp
Ice cream was delicious. Would 100% go back. The mint brownie was great and worth the wait!
google avatar

Alvin L.

Yelp
Came in with the family for an after dinner treat and it never disappoints! So many flavors to choose from and there's something for everyone. You can sample too before making your choice. I always go with the lavender option as it's unique and refreshing / not something that you can get at most ice cream shops.
google avatar

Cindy A.

Yelp
Sometimes a smell draws you into a place. And when that place is an ice cream shop you must enter! The amazing aroma of waffle cones is the first thing to greet you at Molly Moon's. Then you get the taste of creamy deliciousness when they hand you a scoop of ice cream. There are several traditional and unique flavors from which to choose. I got the blueberry pie ice cream with bits of blueberries and pie crust mixed in. My hubby got the scout mint ice cream. We both enjoyed our treats! The servers were friendly and informed us they are tip free when we offered a tip. Plus their philosophy can't be beat - "Ice cream makes you happy!"
google avatar

Anna L.

Yelp
Absolutely one of then funnest times that I have had in a while when it comes to eating ice cream. Quick service even when the line was long and the ambiance has always been fantastic. Only downside was the long line. Get ready to wait for the best ice cream in town!!

Kishore J.

Yelp
This used to be one of the best local ice cream offerings but of late it has lost its appeal and value. The taste/flavor has declined, the serving sizes have reduced, and hence no longer worth their pricing. Customer service isn't great either. We have regularly visited multiple Molly Moon locations but the Redmond location disappoints more than the others. And, something new we learnt today - they no longer stamp their rewards card, if you use a gift card for purchase.
google avatar

Jeanne N.

Yelp
Yummy! That's how I describe Molly Moons. I had their chocolate and granddaughter had caramel. Both were smooth, creamy, and delectable. We each selected a topping too, sugar cone crumpled for me and brownie bites for her. Bought a cooler bag for the pints from the freezer of chocolate and strawberry we took home, too. Always friendly staff and Molly Moons supports the community with each purchase. I will be back to try another treat or a monthly flavor.
google avatar

Claudia C.

Yelp
I am obsessed with Molly Moon. When I was younger I remember trying Molly Moon for the first time and hating it. Maybe because it was to gourmet, but now I'm obsessed. Their flavors are so fresh, so simple, just the perfect treat. They don't have too many flavors and the flavors they have are just okay, but their good seasonals are SO GOOD!!! The workers are super hard workers, especially when it gets busy during the summer. On hot summer nights you can expect an hour long line around the corner. They haven't found a solution to the long line problem, knowing it takes them a while even with the long lines. Though in the end it's worth it for the amazing ice cream here! I recommend going when they have good seasonals, my favorites being strawberry shortcake, black forest cake, pumpkin, chai, well just kind of everything! Definitely come check out Molly Moon, but avoid it on a nice day and wait for a shorter line!!!
google avatar

Mike H.

Yelp
Visiting in the area and took the grands to Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream. Molly Moon's is a nice little shop downtown and the cones and cups we enjoyed were quite good. Service is fast and friendly and the surroundings are bright and clean. Although prices were somewhat steep, a good time was had by all.
google avatar

Delara M.

Yelp
Molly moons is a go to original. It's always got a line out the door, it's been popular for years now. Every store is a little different, this specific one is always busy and the workers always seem brisk and overwhelmed and sometimes even agitated. The presentation along shows it was made with no effort. The ice cream on the other hand is pretty damn good. I do love the flavors and the topping, obviously pricey for a dessert option. 3.5/5 for me.

Maxwell M.

Yelp
wouldn't let my Frenchie and I in said no dogs but their logo shows ice cream with a frenchie so it doesn't make any sense why they wouldn't let us in :( guess we wont be coming back until this rule changes
google avatar

Nicole L.

Yelp
That honey lavender icecream though. Feels like i fell into a lavender farm! So good. Hubby had the yeti (a classic, always yummy). Service was great. You can always ask to try a sample if you're not sure what flavor to go for. Ambiance is cute. Some outdoor seating in the bench available and some indoor seating too. There's the park nearby too which is fun to hang out in on a nice warm and sunny day.
google avatar

Rafia A.

Yelp
Love this place! It has the cutest decor and is so clean. Service is always so kind and the ice cream is delicious! I will definitely stop in here once a month to try out their limited flavors. My favorite sauce is the Vanilla Bean Caramel. Drooling just thinking about it right now!
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
This is probably our "go-to" favorite ice cream shop. The staff is top-notch and the ice cream is first rate. It's in a great spot close to a park and many areas you can walk around. It's right next to a great cafe too where you can get great sandwiches. Totally recommend this shop
google avatar

Yelp
So I'm visiting Seattle for the week and wanted to check out this quaint little place out today. Overall, I really like he clean and organized the place looked. The light blue and the white combination gives it a calm presence. Ice cream: Stumptown coffee-good, clean favor. Salted caramel-too salty but still palatable. Melted chocolate-pretty good, definitely tasted the cocoa. Service: girl who served my ice cream was super nice, gave me a sample. The cashier however didn't smile and didn't even say thank you after I tipped them $3 over a $9 bill. I used to be an ice cream server so it felt nostalgic for me to see these young kids working and I felt compelled to tip generously, but I was a bit turned off by the nonchalant attitude of the cashier.
google avatar

Margot C.

Yelp
This place has some delicious ice cream. We came last night for dessert after having dinner near by. The place was busy but there wasn't a line when we got there. They had about a dozen different flavors. I got a little sundae with s'mores ice cream. It came with one scoop of ice cream, your choice of two toppings, and whipped cream and a cherry. The scoop in my sundae was huge and I could barely finish it. The s'mores ice cream was delicious with brownie chunks and graham cracker crumbles in it. For my toppings I got hot fudge and waffle cone pieces.
google avatar

Devin D.

Yelp
It's the best ice cream place in the Pudget sound!! They have so many great flavors. My favorite flavor is the cookie dough because it tastes just like a cinnamon roll! There are many great flavors there, so ask to try any flavor before picking your scope! The service is always excellent! When the weather is sunny, there is usually a long line for a reason. Overall, this is some of the best ice cream I have ever had, and don't forget about the toppings (the whipped cream is delicious!)
google avatar

Souporn H.

Yelp
What is there to say? It's a cute little ice cream shop. Friendly cashier who scooped the ice cream for us and also gave us some samples to make sure we liked them! It was very tasty!
google avatar

Erica P.

Yelp
Molly Moon's Homemade Ice Cream is a required stop for my kiddos. The price point is only slightly higher than other places, but the quality is fantastic and the flavors are great! Cookies and Cream is my usual go-to, but on this visit, I tried the Yeti and it was so tasty! I've not yet sampled a flavor that disappoints. The staff is friendly and happy to answer any questions. The line can get pretty long on a warm day, but it is 100% worth the wait!
google avatar

Denise M.

Yelp
If you are in Seattle, you have to try one of the many Molly Moon's locations! We made this a mandatory visit for our trip, and was able to get it on our first night here. I love that they allow for samples since I got to taste test multiple flavors before choosing what I wanted. They did not have some of the flavors that I previously saw and wanted, but I got their 'scout' mint after trying their honey lavender (my favorite flavor from Salt and Straw) I have heard such wonderful things about that flavor, and had to try it myself. Needless to say, it did not disappoint! They used crushed up Girl Scout Cookies in their ice cream and it is exactly what I imagined it to be. It is not too overwhelming with any extracts, and is perfectly balanced with its creaminess, texture from the cookies, and sweetness. I would get this again! We really wanted to get the sample flight so that we had a bit of each flavor, but we decided to skip out on it this time....maybe next time though! Highly recommend a visit to any Molly Moon's locations in Seattle.

Yelp
Living in downtown Redmond, I've been to Molly Moon more than a handful of times and I will say it finally deserve 4 stars. Up until my most recent visit, I've actually dislike going to Molly Moon due to two main issue: 1) Not letting you see an itemized receipt or even a screen of what they're charging you. 2) Not doing samples (due to the pandemic). I dont know when the owner of Molly Moon finally got it in their head to show you a screen when you're checking out of what they're charging you. Every time I've come to Molly Moon in the past they always seem to f-up my order when i'm paying. Part of the reason for this is they use to have one person fulfill your order and another worker would ring you up and for some reason I would always get up-charged... which I assume its was just shady business practice. I love, love, that they're doing samples again! This is because almost 85% of their menu, isnt to my taste i.e. Honey Lavender or sweet cream, or most of their seasonal flavors. I refused to go for a long time during the pandemic since they didnt do sample - I could not commit to over paying for something that I most likely wouldnt like.

Yelp
I was staying in Bellevue and wanted to check out what the buzz about this place was all about. The staff were warm and were patient and let me try the flavors. My top picks: Yeti - most popular Honey Lavender - unique and must try Cookies and Cream - classic and never goes wrong Salted Caramel - was a little bit on the saltier end
google avatar

Franco D.

Yelp
Amazing cookies and cream ice cream but the freshness of the waffle cone is what separates them from other ice cream spots../
google avatar

Bethany L.

Yelp
Yum. Yum. Yum. My local friend took me here and Salt & Straw and demanding to know which I liked better - and I gotta say Molly Moon's! I sampled the salted caramel before picking the toffee ice cream, and the caramel was way too salty for me. However, the toffee was a perfect balance. I had a kid's scoop, and it was a great portion. Loved this creamy ice cream and cute store vibes.
google avatar

Sharon L.

Yelp
The entire block surrounding this Molly Moon's location smells of sweet ice cream and waffle cones, enticing park visitors to stop by for ice cream. There was a short line out the door, but the ice cream is worth the wait. Got the yeti and matcha strawberry with a waffle cone. Perfect dessert to cool down during the summer!

Yelp
I was excited to try this Seattle classic organic and local business - it's a Great place for ice-creams The ice creams are delicious and the prices are reasonable. The place is located in Redmond downtown but they also offer take outs via food delivery services such as Uber eats and grub hub. I tried them via a delivery order. All flavors sounded delightful and I ended up ordering the yeti and melted chocolate flavors. I specially enjoyed their melted chocolate ice cream It had a super rich, fudgy flavor as it is made with lots of organic Theo Chocolate and cocoa powder! I also tried their winters seasonal flavors - Yeti! Which is made with Vanilla ice cream, with vanilla bean caramel and mixed with chunks of Theo Chocolate and our their homemade Yeti granola! Both the flavors were delicious and travelled well in a to- go order! Looking forward to trying more flavors.

Yelp
First time in this place. It's amazing. I am not an ice cream fan but love it. Try Yeti with waffles, so delicious. Nice staff and professional although they are so young. Thanks! Parking is in the back. Nice place walking around.

Yelp
I mean is the service good, the location is clean, the ice cream is bougie. Do I think the hype is bigger than it's worth? Yes- Personally I rarely enjoy ice cream, and when I do it's often more at Salt And Straw. But there's nothing wrong here, just not my cup of tea.

Yelp
I love molly moons ice cream super delish in-house rich ice cream, i got cookies and cream and strawberry $9.63 for two scoops, pricey? Or just right for premium hand churned ice cream.
