The 16 Best Restaurants In Palermo - Palermo - The Infatuation

"The team behind Moltivolti represent different countries (Italy, Senegal, Zambia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, The Gambia, Tunisia, and Ivory Coast), and the multicultural menu reflects that. You’ll find hearty dishes like Senegalese mafé, Tunisian brik, falafel with saffron sauce, and a selection of pasta dishes like anelletti al forno or a vegan pasta with artichokes, lemon, and toasted breadcrumbs. More than just a place to eat, it’s known for its social justice activism, which includes advocating for refugee support organizations in the Mediterranean and creating community-building endeavors in the Ballarò neighborhood. Make a reservation for dinner, or swing by for breakfast or lunch and some wifi—laptops are welcome in the mornings and afternoons." - linda sarris

Moltivolti - Review - Palermo - The Infatuation

"In a city filled with Sicilian food, Moltivolti is where you can find something totally unique. It opened around ten years ago by a team that represents eight different countries: Italy, Senegal, Zambia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, France, Spain, and Gambia. Moltivolti’s multicultural menu reflects their own backgrounds and more—you’ll find hearty dishes like Senegalese mafé, Tunisian brik, Ethiopian injera platters, and a selection of pasta dishes like lasagna and anelletti al forno on the menu. More than just a place to eat, it’s known for its social justice activism, which includes advocating for refugee support organizations in the Mediterranean and creating community-building endeavors in the Ballarò neighborhood. Make a reservation for lunch or dinner, or swing by for breakfast or lunch and some wifi—laptops are welcome in the mornings and afternoons." - Linda Sarris

A long leisurely lunch at Sicilian-African restaurant, Moltivolti. We both tried the Senegalese mafé (veal & lamb stewed in peanut butter with garlic, onions, carrots, potatoes and tomato). It was delicious (as were the Negronis). Service was great too. I’d love to come back and try some of the other North African dishes.

What a lovely restaurant! The outdoor terrace is super cute and perfect for enjoying a drink or a meal. We would like to thank Malik for his kindness and great service. The food was absolutely delicious and on point (compliments to the Chef(s)). They also serve more than just pasta, including Middle Eastern and African dishes, which we’re excited to try the next time we visit.

A cultural experience. Good food, wonderful people, and a special atmosphere. We arrived outside of normal dinner hours and they served us anyway. Had a very interesting conversation with the hostess from Abidjan.

Their food is a great fusion of Sicilian and Mediterranean traditions, with thoughtful vegetarian and Halal options. Every bite felt like a celebration of culture and community. The ambiance is cozy and vibrant, reflecting Moltivolti’s inspiring mission of inclusivity and connection. Madina made our evening truly special with her warmth and expertise. She guided us through the menu with genuine care, recommending dishes that were bursting with flavor and perfectly suited our preferences. Thanks again.

Sign and online said open. But waiter said kitchen not open. Since I had been seated--why?--I was told kitchen closed. Out of politeness I ordered a beer. Finished and went in to pay. 8 euro I was told. I'd been in Italy for 4 weeks and said that was by far the highest price I'd paid. The waiter said that includes a cover charge. Why, I said, since the kitchen was closed. I put the money on the counter and waiter lowered to 6. Then said I was being rude. You decide. For the record, this is not an Italian place, despite the name, More like African Greek fusion.

Wish I could review the food. With a 20% occupied place we were asked to sit on a table which we said we did not like as it was right under the aircond flow. The waitress told us to wait for another table to be cleared but left us there for a good 15 minutes and completely forgot about us. We eventually left the place, without any staff even noticing us. I believe the food is amazing, as long it gets all the care missing from the service.

Google
The restaurant has a large dining room and curbside tables outside. Menu is only online. The fresh pasta alla Norma was excellent. The pasta was cooked right, and the sauce was delicate. The Eggplants Caponata with sweet and sour sauce and stewed vegetables was as well. They have various beers on tap. The 2 dishes with 2 beers cost €28. The place is just off the central busy and noisy streets, so it was relaxing. Good value

Yelp
Exquisite interpretations of a broad array of Mediterranean classics and twists on Sicilian standard dishes. We ate outside and enjoyed the relative calm of the backstreet location for an alfresco dinner. May have been the best aperol spritzes we had!

Yelp
So we ordered a bottle of wine, and seemingly instantly they came out with the entrees, which is something that we all noticed at the table and didn't love that timing for the meal. If the food was as great as advertised, I wouldn't have cared, but it seemed to be pre made and served corporate cooking style. I'd avoid as there are much better options.

Yelp
I Came here after a local recommended us to come try it. We started with mango salad and caponata, both delicious, and nice portions. Fish couscous and lamb couscous very good. Rich intense but delicate flavor for both dishes. Great stuff, very polite and friendly. I will definitely come back again and try more of their dishes

Yelp
Such a relevant and powerful place. At the Balaro area, where many people seeking asylum reside, an association that advocates for the rights of people in transit created this place where advocacy, activism and support is translated into a food proposal. Chefs from countries and cultures connected to contemporary migrations have created a menu that gives space and celebrates the joy and complexity that border systems repress and attack. For me this is one of the best restaurants in the world. Please don't miss it.
