I was really excited about this place but the food isn't consistent or well prepared. I wrote the owners a letter hoping to get a response instead of writing a review during these times, but a lack of response further demonstrates the lack of management. Here is what I wrote:
Hello,
I wanted to write to you regarding my order last night as posting a review might not be the way to go just yet. First, we ordered 4 rolls, 2 tempura (warm) and 2 cold rolls. Our spider roll and the Spinal Tap were both warm but not together. Instead, we had the spinal tap with the nigiri and instead of two packages with different temp. rolls in it, we had two packs with a mix of hot and cold. Part of my rainbow roll started cooking in the package and siracha got onto the other fish.
Next, the spider roll was fishy. It had a strong smell of shellfish.
The salmon was delicious as usual, however the other fish was spongy and very hard to eat. The texture of spongy fish is the second time I have had this happen at Momiji. This happened with hamachi and maguro inigiri I have previsouly ordered.
Finally, the spinal tap roll was so messy and full of siracha that it was just not enjoyable to eat. While I completely understand and enjoy some spice in sushi, this is just not tasty.
EIther way, the last part is just my opinion. I could go on about my experience with sushi and expectations, but the fact is, the fish is spongy and the rolls were either fishy or inedible. This is the third time I have ordered from you and really want to be able to have you be my local go to, but this last order was nowhere near the mark. Getting a deal shouldn't mean getting bad food.
