Momo Noodle - Review - Soma - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"You may recognize Momo Noodle from their food truck at Spark Social or their brief stint inside Saluhall. They've opened a takeout brick-and-mortar in SoMa, serving five types of noodles with toppings like spicy pork, tofu, or rice wine-braised pork belly." - Julia Chen

Google
I got the spicy noodles with tofu and chicken. The food was overall good, but everything was drenched in sauce, there wasn’t anything to cut into the oily sauce, so I could only eat so much. The texture was also one note, I wish there were crunchy elements in this dish, it’s supposed to have peanuts but I found only a couple pieces. I would suggest maybe adding bokchoy and more crunch toppings.

Google
If spicy food is your jam, you must try this food truck. The quality is outstanding across the board and if you choose to upgrade the spice level they actually deliver on the heat, unlike so many other places. You order via an iPad that they place outside and pay there as well. This system works great because it easily shows you all the various ways you can customize your order. My only complaint is they're only near my office on Wednesdays, but then that's probably a good thing because otherwise I'd be eating here multiple times a week.

Delicious noodles! Perfectly tender noodles with full bodied spice! Momo Noodles Food Truck is a hidden gem in San Francisco. It's a small, family-owned business that serves up some of the best noodles I've ever had. The noodles are made fresh daily and the broth is rich and flavorful. The dumplings are also delicious and perfectly cooked. The service is friendly and efficient. The food is always fresh and hot. I highly recommend Momo Noodles Food Truck to anyone looking for a delicious and affordable meal in San Francisco. Here are some specific details about my experience at Momo Noodles Food Truck: - I ordered the dry noodle with beef and it was absolutely delicious. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the beef was tender and flavorful. - The broth for the noodle soup was rich and flavorful. It was the perfect balance of savory and spicy. - The dumplings were also delicious. They were perfectly cooked and the filling was flavorful. - The service was friendly and efficient. The food was always fresh and hot.

Google
Would say it is around 3.5 for me. Instant noodles with good meat for 16 bucks. Tried momo’s spicy pork and popo’s belly.

Yummy noodles. Was really delicious.

Yelp
Located at a new location in FiDi, MOMO is the place to go if you're tired of salads, sandwiches, and are looking for a lunch spot with flavor. With a simple menu, MOMO features classic Chinese bàn miàn, or mixed noodles. Each item focuses on chewy noodles coated in a savory chili oil and Sichuan peppercorns which provides the classic Sichuan numbing feeling to the tongue. The two best dishes are the 1) Momo Spicy Noodles which includes noodles topped with spicy pork and 2) Popo Noodles which highlights flavorful, slow-cooked pork belly. FiDi is not know for having a lot of great, affordable, and tasty lunch options, with suggestions often being inundated with salad chains, burgers, and various mixed bowls. If you're looking for something different that will leave you satisfied, MOMO is a must-try.

Yelp
I have been obsessed with Momo since I worked at 345 Cal and they were posted on California street on Wednesday's (if I'm remembering it correctly). Since I came back to work December 2021, I have been an avid stalker of Momo trying to locate them either on California, at Salesforce, food festivals, or the rare times I'm at Spark Social. The craving was real today and I did the 15 minute walk to Saluhall dining hall which is connected to IKEA/next to IKEA and located on the second floor. In typical Momo fashion, you order on the kiosk and simply just wait for your order. I got my order to go and the bowl always looks tiny, but it's super fulfilling. Definitely give it a mix before you eat it. I do wish that lids are given with the to go bowls instead of foil but I guess it wouldn't make a difference since the sauce do leak through these compostable bowls. I ordered the Momo spicy noodles with pork, and although it was fulfilling, it wasn't spicy at all, not even a little kick. Definitely will be making this trek again during my next craving.

Yelp
I came back because I remember how good these noodles were when I was here 10 months ago. I ordered the same thing - Popo's Noodles with Spicy Pork - but it didn't taste the same. :( It was still good but the flavor was different. I didn't like it. It was more spicy than sesame/peanutty. I don't know if maybe the wrong order was made. My family ordered: Momo Spicy Noodles with Pork - My husband loved it. Popo's Noodles with House Tofu - Light flavor, good noodles. The tofu was nice and fragrant. Hot & Sour Rice Noodles - my son loved it. The kiosk was confusing. If you order 1 item, you can customize. If you order multiple noodles, you can't customize. It was frustrating. Thankfully the person who was working there said he'd take our order because it would be easier to customize it from his end. Food came out timely.

Yelp
We ordered with the worker and was given a paper ticket. I saw some of the other stalls using pagers instead so make sure to circle back or stay nearby to get your food when it is done. I got the momo noodles $12 + pork $4 and ate it in the food court. The noodles were good but they weren't addictive. I ate until I was full but I didn't find myself diving in after I was full or wishing that I had more space in my stomach. My friend really enjoyed the noodles. The food court is very casual but the lighting makes it a little more intimate. There are many types of seating options all over the first and 2nd floor. Great lighting for conversations.

Yelp
Service: Counter Service in Saluhall. Saluhall is a food court next to IKEA. It's great because your food is ready so quickly (less than ten minutes). If you are with friends, everyone can order something different. Food: I've gotten the Hot and Sour Rice Noodle and Spicy Noodle. Both with spicy pork. I definitely preferred the Hot and Sour Rice Noodle because the flat rice noodle is much yummier than the sichuan dry rice noodle (the skinny kind). Flavor wise, it's decent but not amazing. Price: It comes out to $16 with meat. It's a decent portion size, so okay price for what it is.

Yelp
Updating now that they've got a brick and mortar. Same delicious noods that I expect, but wanted to speak on a new(?) item - their Green Hot Sauce. Holy moly! Since I got the non spicy pork belly bowl, I wanted to add some oomph and picked up their hot sauce bottle as well. It added that citrusy numbing thing from the Sichuan peppercorn, backed by some immediate heat from the jalapenos, and then waves of building heat from the habaneros. Friggin fantastic! The pairing of the two dishes was a huge success, and now I can't wait to put this on everything!

Yelp
The noodles here are amazing!!! I got some rice wine pork belly one. It takes like a peanut sesame coated sauce, which is similar to some Chinese noodles I've had before. Soooo good. Creamy and savory. The pork belly was braised nicely too and both tender/flavorful. I like the lil spark social area around it too plus the lil stagecoach greens gold area next door. Prob one of my favorite food truck areas.

Yelp
Came for Kayma's Lion mushroom steak but alas they were gone. Opted for Momo's noodles. Only one vegan option, vegan hot and sour noodles with tofu Does contain peanuts and he asked about peanut allergies when ordering, nice. Tofu soy sauce marinated and not deep fried, a plus. Mushrooms, arugula, peanuts, scallions and not overly spicy chili oil base with thick rice noodles. Enjoyable lunch.

Yelp
I ordered on the touch screen. I got my number and waited. I ordered the Momo noodles with the $4 add on tofu. It was ridiculously spicy and salty. I had two bites and couldn't eat more. $18 for this was so overpriced when a taco plate next door is $9.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday during lunch time and tried the momo spicy noodle w/ tofu, raindrop rose, and diablo spicy beef. The noodles were pretty good and the portion size was bigger than I expected! The raindrop rose tasted good too, but it's very sweet and not worth an extra $6 in my opinion. The beef jerky flavor was okay but the texture was personally hard to enjoy (too dry and chunky). Ordering was super easy but I wish you can make customizations to your noodle dishes if you order more than one! It seems like the only way to customize is to order only one noodle dish per order :(
google avatar

Es F.

Yelp
Large portion but noodles seemed a little overcooked almost crispy. The pork was good and spicy.
google avatar

Christine H.

Yelp
What a cute little spot in a food hall! I got the momp spicy noodle with the pork, added an egg and added the diablo spicy chili powder for an extra kick! The noodles were perfectly Al dente and the bowl was flavorful. If you could eat the buldak ramens, the diablo chili powder is no problem at all. My perfect amount of spice. They give a hefty portion as well! Will come again

Yelp
I got Momo food truck noodles last year when my old office was near the Embarcadero. I tried the Hot and sour rice noodle with tea-soaked egg was quick, easy, and delicious. I loved the egg and the noodle thickness and flavor. This year, my mom and I went to the new Ikea Food Hall. I'd never been, which is surprising as I've heard good things about the Ikea. We made the rounds and decided to have Momo. Our noodles were so customizable. My mom (also Yelp Elite lol) had the Rice noodle with spicy pork and cabbage and bamboo shoots and I ordered the MOMO Spicy Noodle ($11.95) w/ Spicy Chicken (+$4) and yellow peppers (+$1.80). Portions were good so we got boxes-to-go to take home for later.

Yelp
Came here before going to AMC Metreon and didn't realize it was connected to IKEA! Good: - The food came out so fast! It's a very easy ordering experience and the staff are fast - I got the hot and spicy noodles and they weren't spicy and usually, I'm not the best with spice - The spicy pork that came with it was tasty, flavorful and added to the noodles Bad: - The place is pretty casual, no official seating, sit wherever you want so it's way more of a casual place to go to - A little expensive for the small portion size Overall, enjoyed coming here and getting a quick quality bite.

Yelp
I came by with high hopes to taste some unique flavored noodles. Instead I got, someone in the kitchen. I had to say hello to get some assistance to ask about the different noodles they had. After I decided on the house tofu noodles, the self check out machine didn't work. So he helped me check out. The noodles was ok tasted like sesame oil with the tofu being super salty. The worst was the food hall, not sure where to put the dishes once you're done? I just left my bowl there.
google avatar

Yelp
I wish every restaurant were so detailed with allergy information -- they have a laminated page noting common allergens for (almost) everything on the menu (the pork broth egg was missing). I can't have gluten, and the spicy rice noodle is clearly labeled as gluten-free ... and is delicious! I added extra veggies, and it is a perfect meal. I only wish they were open a bit later.
google avatar

Yelp
Good cheap eat food stand. I tried the mono spicy noodles with chicken. It's something different that was enjoyable with a beer. Had a good amount of heat.
google avatar

Ty C.

Yelp
Got the chicken noodle bowl, it was okay, nothing wrong with it, nothing special about it. The Saluhall space is really nice and you can tell a lot of work went into it. $16 plus tax for sort of a basic noodle bowl. I'm not trying to be a hater here, but I'm not in any hurry to come back. Maybe I had higher expectations. You order on a self serve screen, any extras is an upcharge and they can add up fast. The food didn't take too long to come out. The noodles themselves were nothing special.
google avatar

Julie C.

Yelp
Healthy food option. We ordered a plain egg noodle spicy that came with vegetables. It had just the right amount of spice. A unique flavor that went well with the vegetables. Tried this place by chance and happy we did. They have your order ready quick. We will return and recommend this place if you are in the area.

Forrest G.

Yelp
Finally tried this place. Paid $22 for half bowl of noodles. Price is step & they couldn't even fill up the bowl. In addition, I was warching the worker making my dish, he seemed confused as to what goes into order. He was randomly throwing things in & at times he were giggling with his coworker in Spanish. It seems their attitude is "if you're not sure.. Just throw it in". For the price, I'd expected far better in all ways. Won't be back until they get their act together

Yelp
* date visited: 07.30.2024 * ordered: spicy pork noddles portion was fair and the szechuan spice (mala) was really good. obviously heavy and oily given the dish, but not tk where it felt excessive or left me feeling bad. noodles were cooked well and the pork and sauce had nice peppercorn flavor. the greens felt kinda random though and i would've preferred some cilantro or other herb to cut through the heaviness of the noodles, but overall satisfied.

Yelp
Overall rating: 3.5 One of the more popular food options in Saluhall. Located on the second floor of Ikea, Momo Noodle is one of many restaurants you can order from in the food court. There are plenty of seating and clean restrooms. However, unless there is available street parking, expect to pay for parking in Ikea's parking garage. I ordered: 1. Momo spicy noodle (4/5): good flavor but wished the noodles were better in texture. They were a little too soft for my liking. I liked that you can add more spice to your noodles based on your spice tolerance. The workers were friendly. You are given a restaurant pager to alert when your food is ready. I liked this because you can also check out the Ikea store or the other restaurants in Saluhall while you wait. Overall, I would recommend checking out Momo Noodle at least once but maybe if you also have a need to shop at Ikea. However, if you're having to pay to park in the garage at Ikea, it may not be worth the trip by itself.

Yelp
In general, pretty good portion of noodles and pork/extra protein, but... alas it is... pricey. ~$17 for each bowl with added protein and while the chili oils and spicy flavors are fantastic, the dish was missing something overall. It'd be nice if there were combos or if the dish came with a small cup of a clear warm broth. I left quite full but not sure that I'd come running back! Note: Almost all- if not all- of their menu items contain peanut products or are prepared alongside dishes containing peanut products.

Yelp
This place is incredible. I was salivating just looking at their food photos before going and the pictures do it justice. My meal was incredible. I never wanted the noodles to end! So flavorful. This location in Saluhall food market is great. Super easy to find and our food came out quickly on the Friday night we were there. I opted for the Momo Spicy Noodle and added yellow peppers, which was delicious. My husband opted for the same meal and devoured the whole thing. We were both so impressed. The noodles are egg noodles, but they're unlike any egg noodle I've ever tried. I highly recommend this spot. I wish I lived here so I could go more often!
google avatar

Chad M.

Yelp
Passable Not spicy really. We did order it with the extra chili powder to make it spicier. I did like the slightly under done noodle. It was the thing I figured I wouldn't like. Just not a lot of flavor going on. The chicken is overcooked by a lot. Had a mushy texture. Also the pickled cabbage is more like Sauerkraut and not kimchi, I was thinking more kimchi. Probably still the only place I would eat in Saluhall. I would do it again. Just wouldn't go out of my way for it. Out of the people who tried it, 2 of the three thought Panda Express was a better option. Go in with that expectation and you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
SERVICE - located upstairs in Saluhall - park in garages nearby or street if you can find a spot - order at counter and the buzzer will ring when your food is ready - food made very quickly MENU - a few noodle dishes and sides - vegan and gluten free options marked - average price ($15 per entree) FOOD - hot and sour rice noodles with tofu (5/10): wide rice noodles with wood ear mushroom, arugula, and peanuts tossed with chili oil. We added tofu as a protein for $4 extra which I think was a bit expensive since they gave about six small cubes of it. The noodles were hard to pick up with utensils as they kept breaking or slipping off. The sauce had a predominant Sichuan peppercorn flavor so be wary if you are not used to the numbing spice. I did appreciate the fresh greens on top and the crunchy peanuts. WOULD I GO BACK? I was not amazed so would not go back to this stall.
google avatar

Everett L.

Yelp
We came before seeing a Broadway show. They offer delicious Dan Dan style noodles with extra spice. We got the chicken spicy noodle and the spicy pork noodle with the added spice, def very spicy!
google avatar

Rudy H.

Yelp
Perfect noodles texture and I absolutely loved it! I'm so glad that Saluhall is open and what a grand space this place is. Now back to the noodles, MOMO SPICY NOODLE $15.99 Sichuan style dry noodle. Egg noodle mixed with signature chili oil sauce and Sichuan pepper, topped with wood ear mushroom, green onion + spicy pork $4.00 MOMO RAINDROP ROSÉ $5.95 MOMO RAINDROP ROSÉ is classic Sichuan raindrop cake. Sweet and Floral, it's bowl of jello with rose water. Decent option for lunch.
google avatar

Lainey D.

Yelp
Great food court with a variety of food. I heard this stall in particular was delicious. If you like a bit of spice, I got the original spicy bowl with spicy pork and it did not disappoint.
google avatar

Natalie L.

Yelp
One thing that Momo Noodle gets right is the noodle consistency; their noodles are so delightfully chewy and addicting. I've gotten the popo noodle and momo noodles here, and both have been very satisfying. As someone with a fairly good spice tolerance, the momo noodles aren't crazy spicy to me, but they are definitely enough for me to have a runny nose...tip: have a napkin or tissue nearby LOL. The house tofu is fairly flavorful, but I haven't gotten any of the meat options so far, so I can't say anything about those. Wood ear mushrooms add another nice layer of texture, and the arugula surprisingly works really well with the sour and savory flavors of the sauces here! All in all, Momo is a nice spot if you want your dry noodle fix, ESPECIALLY if noodle texture is something really important to you.
google avatar

Amelia D.

Yelp
We stopped in to Saluhall and the spicy noodles called out to us. Worth the 10-15 minute wait, the spicy chicken was both delicious and had me glugging down glasses of water from the bar across the hall. I was impressed by the fresh ingredients, yummy woodear mushroom, and chicken cooked to order. It has meat options at the mostly vegetarian food hall. They also serve the food in real bowls with real silverware, which is uncommon for the fast casual concept but appears to be the norm in the Saluhall cafeteria. The girl behind the counter was nice as well. This place gives you buzzers while waiting for food, while some of the other stalls require you to wait out front.
google avatar

Catalina L.

Yelp
Very friendly staff serving tasty chewy noodles! Great option in Saluhall Flavorful and a little nutty. Spicy noodle is a mild level of the heat so do add ons if you enjoy more spice. Solid portion size for $12 of noodles. Added on spicy pork which was the recommended most popular option. It was a ground pork that I didn't think was spicy at all - still good but slightly salty. Easy to order and you get a buzzer to pick up the food. Their dog mascot is the cutest!
google avatar

EunJoo C.

Yelp
First time to visit IKEA food court, I got Popo noodles with tofu. I liked the texture of noodles and also sweet & salt balance. Good portion too.
google avatar

Alex H.

Yelp
i love this place! the thin noodles are perfect - i used to always grab momo from the food truck at spark but now it's right by the office!
google avatar

Shauna f.

Yelp
Very flavorful and not too spicy. Noodles were cooked just right and the sauce was excellent. Kinda small portion though, but very flavorful.
google avatar

David O.

Yelp
I am surprise to see such a high rating for this place. I really didn't like the noodle they are using. I stop eating after two bites. (I got Ikea Meatballs instead)
google avatar

Rebecca H.

Yelp
It is really salty, so if you have a low salt diet or don't want to drink a ton of water, skip it. It was just ok. I didn't love it. I had the spicy pork and it had a weird bitter flavor. The pork to noodle ratio was greatly weighted to noodle, like 10/90%. It's an order at the kiosk and wait for your number place, no service. Solidly meh.
google avatar

Mo K.

Yelp
Ordered the chicken with noodles and the tofu noodle dish. These were just not good and we didn't even finish half of the food. Noodles are dry. Flavors are dull. No veggies or anything on the dishes. Not a great value for the money. The guy working there seemed unhappy and bored. Momo Noodle needs a menu overhaul and brighter, fresher flavors. I want to support Saluhall but the food really needs to be better than this.
google avatar

June R.

Yelp
The sauce was incredible--super spicy and packed with flavor. The flat noodles were cooked to perfection, creating a perfect blend of textures and tastes. The spicy flavor was so addictive, I couldn't stop eating. I even took some leftover sauce home to enjoy with white rice! The service was friendly and quick, making the experience even better.
google avatar

Linh S.

Yelp
I was excited to try this vendor - the pictures of their noodles looked so good on social media. I got the Popo's Noodle which is egg noodle with sesame and peanut paste and wood ear mushroom, I opted for no green onion and spicy chicken and also added an egg! The egg was hardboiled and pre-marinated for flavor! The noodles were great, nice and chewy - the chicken added a nice, hint of spiciness to it. I'm looking forward to trying their spicy noodle which seemed to be more popular. I also got the Momo raindrop rose which I totally thought was a drink but it was in a bowl container and it's actually a jelly that you eat with a spoon! It provided a great balance from the spiciness of the entree. It included some shaved coconut and nuts and tasted very sweet and refreshing! I went on a Saturday early evening, and the food came out fast! Can't wait to go back and try some new dishes from Momo.
google avatar

Cody H.

Yelp
Food tasted good. Self order at counter. Pricey for dish but it's downtown SF. Decent flavor
google avatar

Nessa H.

Yelp
I just discovered Momo noodle and I can't get enough of it! I work close by IKEA and came here on a whim. Now I live here. Momo spicy noodle with spicy chicken for the win! Perfect level of spice with noodle and chicken cooked perfectly . The green onions blend well with everything too ! . It's a good sized bowl for the price, almost $18. I could eat this every day!!
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Located in the saluhall food court with plenty of seating. A little expensive but huge taste. Definitely packed a good punch, so be careful if you can't handle spice. It was absolutely delicious! I got the popo with spicy chicken. The chicken was juicy, the peanut sauce creamy, and had some nice wood ear mushrooms, arugula, and spring onions to top it off. Service was quick.
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
Went to Momo Noodle in the Saluhall on a Friday night. Beautifully designed space and plenty of tables. I got the Popo's Noodle with Spicy Chicken. We got our order in under 5 minutes. It was delicious! Chicken was pull apart and a perfect portion size. My star rating: 5 - must go!!! 4 - liked it, give it a try! 3 - it was alright 2 - I probably won't go back 1 - turnaround and run
google avatar

Michelle K.

Yelp
I was so impressed by Saluhall and how fun + design-forward it is! Everything feels nice and new. We went to Momo Noodle and I got the hot and sour wide noodles, and it was good! Service was also quite fast.

L W.

Yelp
The place may not look the best, the food was very good and generous. We had the 16 pcs sashimi and bento box. The sashimi slices were very generous and tasted fresh, well worth the price. The bento box was adequate but I wished that my gyoza was steamed or lightly pan fried. Overall would recommend this spot to friends and colleagues

Yelp
This is one of my favorite food trucks! I always look forward to grabbing food from this truck. I love their Momo Spicy Noodle with Spicy Pork and slow cooked rice wine pork belly added to it. The chili oil gives it a nice little kick. It also has wood ear mushrooms in it too. I'm not sure how they make it but I've been trying to recreate it at home and it doesn't taste as good as how they make it. If you aren't used to eating spicy food, then it might be too spicy for you. It was too spicy for my coworker lol. I usually don't eat spicy food but it wasn't too spicy for me. The Popo's noodle is good too but I prefer their spicy noodles instead. The Spicy Chicken Noodle is also good but the spiciness and flavor doesn't compare to the Momo Spicy Noodle with Spicy Pork. They usually have a tablet for you to order from and the service is pretty quick.
google avatar

Scott B.

Yelp
Very neat location. Absolutely love the idea and atmosphere this food truck is located. I had the Momo Spicy Noodle and added the braised pork belly with extra spicy sauce. For lunch, this is plenty of food. Maybe too much noodles. But who's complaining? Food portions are so important no days. I would have to say that the bowl was delicious. Flavor is good, choice of noodles was good, and the pork belly was tender and delicious! I would most definitely recommend for anyone looking for a noodle bowl outside of stir fry or soup. The bad, although extra spicy sounds good, I would not do it again. Momo uses an oil based chili sauce. I'm not clear if there have different spice level chilis that they use or do they just add more oil chili but my bowl had too much oil. Although tasty, the amount of oil was slightly overwhelming and messy. I would suggest to just stick with the normal amount. The other down side, I wish there was more veggies and pickled ginger! They add so much to the bowl, delicious, but just not enough since they do get wilted.

Yelp
First time come to the spark social sf. Really beautiful space. It was a beautiful day also. We decided to try some food there. They have many kind of food trunk, Mexican Asian , American food even a bar then we got to this noodle truck, that looks really good and there was a line. So I presume that would be a safe choice. We got order Diablo Spicy Beef, Momo Spicy Noodle,Hot and Sour Noodles Diablo spicy beef : give a hint spicy ,numb flavor of mala texture like beef jerky but it's refrigerated cold Momo spicy noodle : really looking forward to this but the sauce is not that spicy , the noodle was dry and cold , all components , not really good. Hot and sour noodle : flavor for this one is better but same cold and dry noodle. Really disappointed, couldn't finish anything. Hope they would make this better because I really enjoy this kind of noodle.
